Hi Sharon!<br><br>I haven't seen the show in a year or two but I'm still a fan!
IOW, I'm a long time maniac.<br><br>Looking forward to the movie!<br><br>Bob
is a great idea. Anybody else in L.I. (NY)?
<br><br>I wanted to let you know that I received mail today
from Marvin Kitman. It's a copy of a letter that he
received, typed on "The Levinson/Fontana Company"
letterhead. It reads:<br><br>Dear Marvin,<br>Thank you for
the terrific article regarding HOMICIDE: Life On The
Street.<br><br>All of us--producers, writers, cast and crew--are
thrilled that people care so much. We're excited to be
"back in business" shooting the MOW.<br><br>One point
needs to be clarified, however: Garth Ancier was the
primary force behind our doing the HOMICIDE movie,
despite active opposition from several others at NBC.
<br><br>I don't know who ultimately made the decision to
cancel HOMICIDE, but I can say that, since arriving at
the network, Garth has been an avid and vocal
supporter of our work.<br><br>In any case, we do appreciate
your continued support.<br><br>Sincerely,<br>Tom (Tom
Fontana)<br>end<br><br>Active opposition? Could that be why we haven't seen any
promos? Maniacs, what do you all make of this letter?
Hi to all the Maniacs-last night I read at ATH
newsgroup that someone here in my city is thinking about
putting together an HLOTS movie viewing party. That would
really be something to see it with other fans. Right now
she put out the feelers to see what kind of a
response she gets. She is the creator of the Aquarium
website at the links and actually lives close by. I need
to email M and let her know. I guess I haven't
noticed anything on Court TV about the movie yet. Hope
NBC gets moving on promos. A friend of mine at work
today asked me why they bothered to cancel HLOTS in the
first place when they now have SVU. My answer is not
fit to print!
Sharon ..... here I am..... Hi Rump, EEP, M, Kev,
Mark and everyone else..... I was working on sending
the media list out to people who will write
letters.<br>I posted @ Cyberslash that I would forward the info
if they write to my yahoo address. And I was going
to send the same message out to the Homicon club.
Can anyone think of anyone else ??<br>I watched L & O
last night. Great ep. However I thought (wrongly) that
they would show promos for the Hlots movie in that
hour. Are they going to promo the movie ?<br>It would
seem a waste if they didn't.
Thanks for the welcome, Sharon. Interesting,
about Court TV. I don't think Bravo has the rights to
the movie yet. They have the reruns on their schedule
for the next 3 years, though. Hopefully they will add
the movie at some point.
Glad you found your way here! And like you said,
every mention of Homicide helps! Have you guys seen the
bits on CourtTV about the movie? CourtTV already
bought the rights to show the movie two months after
NBC. CourtTV is already talking about it, why isn't
NBC? Same way they promoted the series, I guess.
<br><br>Det.S...Just wanted to say welcome again.
Kevin, in re to meeting here for a movie chat,
this may be a stupid question but I'll ask anyway. Is
it possible to invite NBC execs, H:LOTS' execs
(Fontana, B. Levinson,) critics (Marvin Kitman, for
instance) to join in a chat here? First of all, I realize
the odds of any one of them taking us up on the offer
are slim to none, but if any one actually did, is
there a way of knowing it's for real?
That is great Sharon! I think you have my
address, but I will definitely resend it to you via<br>e-mail!
That would be so awesome if Marvin came to watch the
movie with you. I can't wait to see the first promo-I'm
afraid I'll stop breathing!
Hi Maniacs. My son was able to get a stack of the
chalk outline postcards and he's putting them in the
mail to me. Kevin, I will send you yours. If anyone
else would like some, let me know. I was thinking of
sending Marvin Kitman an invite for movie night, since
he's a local "boy." I wouldn't expect him to come (I
would REALLY have to clean my house spotless if by some
fluke he said yes) but I think the invite would be fun!
5 weeks from today! (I never claimed to be good at
math, I was off by a day, I think. ;) )
Finally got online after a very hectic work
week-wouldn't you know I leave the net for 3 or 4 days and they
announce the airdate! Great News from Kevin-rubbing elbows
with the big boys at NBC! :) I think we should all
pick a time and meet in the chatroom after the movie
too (Maybe on Valentine's Day so us ESTers don't have
to stay up so late as not to spoil anything for the
PST gang) Anyone out there know anyone with a Nielsen
Diary? ;) Talk to you all soon,<br>Mark
Hi Maniacs. Since we were trying to come up with
a way for everyone to "meet" on movie night, what
about the chat room here? I don't quite know how this
all works yet, this is my first club. Could we meet
here after the movie to talk? (Adjusting for time
zones, that is.)
I don't believe that they actually responded! That is so great! We have to make
sure that they do right by this movie-giving it all the aggressive promotion
that they never gave to the series!
In his recent column mentioning H:LOTS, Marvin
Kitman wrote some info about NBC that he had gotten from
Tom Fontana. (In the same column, he referred to
himself as a Homicidal Maniac.) I e-mailed him after
reading the column and asked if there was any more H:LOTS
info he could share with the rest of us maniacs. I
received a reply from him today, and he asked for my snail
mail address so that he could mail me some further
info re H:LOTS and Tom Fontana. I'm intrigued! Don't
know what it will be, but I'll keep everyone here
informed. <br>Sharon
Just got word back from the SVP of NBC
Entertainment Publicity:<br><br>"I'd love any help you can
offer in terms of promotion. We'll send you press
materials when we have them ready and you can post it on
the web site. It's a great movie and Homicide fans
are going to be very pleased.<br><br>Thanks for the
offer."
One thing we can all be doing right now to help
promote the movie is to spread the word about the air
date and quality of the show. Feel free to join me in
venturing off into other parts of the net (discussion
forums, chat, etc.) to talk up the movie/show. Of course,
it might not hurt to recruit for the club while
we're at it. Let me know how it goes. -Kevin
(hostmaster@...)
FYI: I've sent an email to the Senior Vice President of NBC Entertainment
Publicity offering our help (for what it's worth) in promoting the TV movie.
I'll let you all know if there's a response.
Yahoooooo!!! Have you any idea how friggin
excited I am?!! FrankenTim back in action is the gift I
never got for Christmas. Hopefully other people agree,
and we can all obsess together (as we are so wont to
do)!! <br><br>I'm better now. Seriously. Hee!<br>-Wild
