A little off topic, but I ask for your help! Gov. Schwarzenegger set to cut
AIDS funding!

Call Gov. Schwarzenegger Friday to Protest ADAP Cap!
The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center is joining AIDS Project Los Angeles, Being
Alive and other area AIDS service organizations on FRIDAY, JAN. 16, in a call-in
campaign to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. Please join us and let Gov.
Schwarzenegger know he can’t balance our state budget at the expense of
thousands of
Californians living with HIV and AIDS.
The Governor is proposing to cap enrollment in the AIDS Drug Assistance
Program at current levels, leaving an estimated 1,400 uninsured or underinsured
without the lifesaving medications they need to survive. He also is proposing a
10 percent reduction in reimbursement to Medi-Cal providers, in addition to the
5 percent already approved by the state legislature.
What to do:
1. On Friday, take a moment to call the Governor's Office at:
916-445-2841. Please call between the hours of 8:30am – 5:30pm.
2. Once you get through to a live person, you can deliver the following
message: "Hi, my name is _______ and I'm calling from Los Angeles (or from
wherever
you're calling). I oppose the Governor's budget proposal, specifically his
caps to the AIDS Drug Assistance Program and his funding cuts for Medi-CAL
programs."
3. NOTE: The call can end here, but may continue, if you’d like: "As a person
living with (or affected by) HIV/AIDS, this proposal will significantly hurt
me, my family and my friends. I feel strongly that the Governor should instead
consider balancing the budget by increasing revenue among the wealthiest
Californians who have benefited under President Bush's tax plan. Thank you."
4. Please forward this e-mail to family, friends, and colleagues throughout
California who would like to support this important action--the more calls, the
louder our message!
Thanks to Being Alive Los Angeles for preparing the script.

Texas2SF says:
Let's all forward this email and call the Governor's Office. Please call,
otherwise he might actually do this! And, then I along with many others will
have
to bring ACT-UP out and go protest in Sacramento, with civil disobedience,
KEEP me out of jail!
