Alright people...
What's your favorite epoisode of Gimmie A Break?
I loved it Nell and Addie visited New York together where they stool the
wrong bag from a police setup. But my favorite has got to be when
Simpson was mistaken for dead and Nell imidiatly planned a Hawaiian
getaway with Addie with the money he left behind for her. What's yours?

LOL...Craig you are funny. I didn't see the show you are talking about but I do
know what you mean. I have seen quite a few stars in other show that I didn't
like them in. I really hated Nell when she was host on a show about psychics
back in 1996. I didn't care about her character on that short lived "You Take
The Kids," a sitcom where she played a serious mom and house wife. The kid were
suppose to be the comical part of the story but the show was so boring I forgot
I was even a big fan of Nells. This is on show I didn't shed any tears over on
it's cancellation! She was OK in "Hangin With Mr. Cooper." I want Nell Carter
to play another character like Nellie Ruth Harper!!!

John Hoyt, who played Grandpa, died in 1991 from lung cancer; Jane Dulo,
who played Grandma, died in 1994 after cardiac surgery; and Howard Morton,
who played Officer Simpson, died in 1997 from a stroke, and probably all
the fish who played Gertrude have died from old age, fin rot, etc.

Lauri had made numerous game show appearances and some of her shows
rerun from time to time on Game Show Network. These include $100,000
Pyramid (I was at a taping once when she was one of the celebrities),
Super Password, Go, Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour, and Body
Language. The last time I ever saw Lauri on TV she did one of those
cameo guest shots on Couch Potatoes, circa 1989.

Lauri was dating an actor named Tony O'Dell a long time ago. (He was the
clean-cut student in Mr. Moore's class on "Head Of The Class". I wonder
if that's who she married.

I was the one who informed you all that Dolph Sweet had cancer. I got it
out of Rosie O'Donnell's biography. They had a couple pages about Gimme a
Break, and the events leading to her being cast on that show (falling
ratings, etc.)

My grandmother recently died of cancer, and she looked the same way as the
chief did before he died.

It's interesting that the Gimme a Break writers didn't give any details of
the Chief's death, or any other deaths, like his wife's. There are lots of
things on the show that could use an explanation.

This week's TV GUIDE had a really fun article about Rick Schroeder's joining
NYPD BLUE, and it had some suggestions from the columnist. One of the
suggestions including sending Joey Lawrence onto Homicide, to watch him spar
with Munch.

Me, I don't mean to be mean, but Joey's only REALLY funny when paired with
Nell... so ship Nell over with him!

They just showed his picture and faded to black. It's usually aired right

That sounds like fun! :) Actually, I used to (and still do sometimes) do an
online newsletter devoted to "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,"
and also was one of the "co-executive producers" of an online "fifth season"
of fanfiction for Lois & Clark, finishing up where the show left off.

I don't think they said what he died of, at least not in the chopped up USA
version. I've heard Dolph Sweet died of a heart attack, but I've also heart
cancer but who knows. I tend to think it's cancer because the Chief looked a
lot like my dad did the year before he died.

What happened is it took place 3 months after the Chief died (it was also
three months after Julie and Jonathan got married, so he must've died very
soon after that episode according to the story). Everyone, especially Nell,
was depressed, and Nell didn't even like anyone saying his name. The Chief's
bedroom remained untouched since he died. Anyhow, at the same time Jonathan
and Julie decided that Julie's bedroom just wasn't big enough for them... and
Joey found a birthday present, a toy train, that the Chief had orderered for
him before he died.

Anyway, Joey started playing with the trains in the Chief's bedroom, because
he always played in there... and Nell finds Joey in there and goes off,
getting really mad... and then they all come in and realize that would be what
the Chief wanted, not to be avoided but to be fondly remembered... and they
decide Jonathan's idea of moving into the Chief's room may not be that bad
anyway.

The episode ends with the camera panning to a picture of Dolph Sweet, and then
they fade to black.
