Attention all Canadians- if you don't want the season finale of ANDROMEDA spoiled, don't read the hype-box in the May 15-21 edition for Saturday (Global is airing the finale tomorrow night).

I'd at this time like to award the idiot of the week award to Canadian TV GUIDE writer Patricia Checchia for writing this review that appears on page L7 in which she gives away the ending of the episode.  Beautiful writing!  Didn't she learn that you're supposed to hype TV programs and not give away the ending???  Gee, where was she a few weeks ago for the FRIENDS finale?  I'm not joking, I've copied the write-up exactly as it's printed.

If anyone wants to read it, it's below, but be warned.  (See, I warn people if I have a spoiler!)
I wonder how many people read this thinking it was just a trailer, as it should have been!

Does anyone out there with connections know if there are any plans for older Andromeda episodes to start airing daily on television?  Other syndicated shows have been doing this for a while now- Mutant X, Relic Hunter, Star Trek this, Star Trek that, etc. etc.

Thanks.

Kevin Sorbo Excited About
Andromeda's Fifth Season

Kevin Sorbo expressed his enthusiasm for the fifth season of Gene Roddenbery's Andromeda Wednesday, saying that he is looking forward to working once again with the program's tremendously talented cast, and fleshing out new adventures as Capt. Dylan Hunt.

"I think the show is going in a great direction, and that the fans will find it interesting to see how Dylan handles the next round of challenges that come his way. It's great to be back with a cast that's so professional and fun to work with."

Tribune Entertainment Vice President of Programming Bill Hamm says it will be a season that no sci-fi fan should miss.

"It's going to be a thrilling and exciting new adventure -- one that I'm sure will keep fans of Dylan and the crew glued to the screen."

Be sure to catch Season Five of Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, every Friday on the Sci-Fi Channel at 8:00pm starting Sept. 24. Fans can also catch year five of the Andromeda's adventures in syndication beginning the week of Sept. 27 -- check local listings.

Hi I am new member! Did anyone see the Season Finale of Andromeda
last night? What are your thoughts?

Do you think they are replacing all the cast except Kevin Sorbo for
Season V?

I would like to hear spoilers for Season V as they become available.

What I think would be cool is if Captain Dylan Hunt went into a
parallel universe before he jumped 300 years in the future and we see
a parallel universe of the Commonwealth during his timeline! Yet it
would be sad if all the other cast members won't be on the show
anymore!

I saw it.. and my roomie and i were on the edge of our seats the
whole time, i heard on the andromedatv messageboard that all or
nearly all of the cast members have signed up for season 5.
I doubt it will only be dylan that returns.
And i cannot wait till next season.
They better bring trance back!!!

Thanks for the news! I am glad they didn't fire all the staff but
Kevin Sorbo for Andromeda! It will be interesting to see which
direction Andromeda goes in Season V! Tell me more if hear any
spoilers for Season V!

I have to say I was amused at hearing Kevin Sorbo on the official
website talk about his similarities to Captain Dylan Hunt and that he
was a real person not a comic strip character like Hercules.

Now I think of Hercules as a Mythological character from Greek and
Roman literature not as a comic strip character and Captain Dylan
Hunt as a comic strip character like a Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon
type! Kevin Sorbo is "easy on the eyes" and has an intellectual tone
to his voice but I wonder about his actions ... I guess he is trying
to relate to the young teenage males!

Not that I've heard about. Going by what was overall written in the
original post, I think the title should have actually read "I am
glad they didn't fire all the staff, but Kevin Sorbo, for
Andromeda!" or "I'm glad they didn't fire everyone, with the
exception of Kevin Sorbo, for the next season of Andromeda."

BTW, Kevin Sorbo seems to be very loyal to the rest of the cast on
the show. So I don't think he would put up with anyone getting
booted off the show that didn't want to go, without trying to work
something out to keep them first.

That said, I think what really happened with the S4 finale had more
to do with Bob Engles (the headwriter) getting carried away with his
idea of a "cool" cliffhanger that would also work as a series finale
(they shot a second end for the episode, according to a former
moderator at the offical AndromedaTV BBS, that would have ended the
show had it not been picked up (it's suppose to show up on the
DVD's)).

Actually, I was disappointed with the ending. It smacked too much of 'Dallas'
where an entire season was 'just a dream' -- The show really went down hill from
there. I think the ending was kind of a cop-out as if they'd written themselves
into a corner, and suddenly decided to make it all 'not real' or an alternate
reality so they could continue with the series. So, for the last four years
we've been an alternate reality of Andromeda while the 'real' adventures have
been going on somewhere else? Oi! Like I said; a cop-out.

Actually I agree totally. It does feel like a cop out
and a lie? I can't think how to put it. I realise
its a tv show and not real but when you spend however
many hours following this story line and learn new
things about the characters it's really annoying to be
told "no thats not true, it didn't happen"

Okay, well, I liked the season-ender-- reminded me a little of _2001_
there with the weird, hard to understand ending. It might seem not to leave
much room to continue the series, but really they left themselves in a good
position to use several different possibilities, so in that way it was
pretty smart.
I don't think they necessarily have to make out like the whole series
didn't happen (and would hope they don't), but maybe Dylan could find a way
to prevent the last couple of eps from happening, or prevent the arrival of
evolved Magog. . . just kind of rewind things a little and change a couple
of events to make the outcome different, the way Trance has been known to
do? People still might complain it's an easy out, but I think it's better
than declaring everything we know to be wrong. Or, if they wanted to be
really creepy, they could say everyone did die, but send alternate versions
of them from other universes out into the universe we know to carry on for
them. That idea could lead to some interesting storylines like grieving for
oneself, confusion over whether or not one is "real", meeting friends and
relatives of the deceased, etc., but probably isn't the best option overall;
there are bound to be differences between the charas we know and their
alternate selves, which fans of the originals may not like. Then there's
the implication that all our beloved charas are actually disposable, which
really wouldn't be good. . . Bleh, just forget I even mentioned that last
idea :-P .

I just wanted to know is that if the rest of the cast is comin back
and also Trance, and my other question is that for those who saw the
kiss (a very very short kiss) who felt a spark...to me i've seen the
sparks between Dylan and Trance since the beginning of the series,
but not really seriously since the beginning of the 4th season.
sorry about the ranting but to make it short but who here thinks
that there would be a Dylan and Trance romance in season 5? I mean
IF Laura is comin back i mean, and I think that they're gonna give
her a new look.

Also if one of them really doesn't come back I mean all of them I
would be really disappointed really, and they should most def put
Rev back in to the cast again, I know that if they did they would
give him a 'healthier' look because of the magog suit he wore during
the first couple of seasons gave him an allergic reaction to the
suite. so I hope he and all of them should come back, and one more
thing and that is that Steve Bacic is very talented and really
truely does fit into the cast and I hope he as Telemachus Rhade
comes back PERMANENTLY!!!

thanks so much for reading my stupid annoying rantings.

I havent been a Dylan/Trance shipper to be honest, but
I do think they definitely moved closer this past

I also agree about Rhade, I think he's great!

They killed him. Well first he betrayed Dyaln. He
rigged Andromeda slipstream core to explode so she'd
eject it on the the Drago home world, which would have
destroyed it, Dylan refused to do. He replaced is
blood with his son's so he could led the Nietch.
people. He started working with the bad collectors.
Beka kinda betrayed him she told him she wanted to be
with him, but she decided to help Dylan. Tyr kidnapped
Beka on took her into the Route of Ages. Then tried to
save his butt with the Abyss by offering up Beka.
Harper, Rhade, and Dylan killed him there. Keith
decided to go to the soap opera The Young and the
Restless. He plays the chemist Damon Porter who's
sleeping with the boss's wife. And he cut off all his
hair.

I was looking at the new issue of STARLOG this morning in a magazine shop, and if I read it correctly, ANDROMEDA will start airing in syndication shortly after new episodes begin on the SCI-FI channel this Fall.  Does anyone know what the plans are for Canada?  With all the Canadian-content of the show, it only makes sense that syndication would happen in Canada as well.
