the reason we don't allow this alan, and sorry for the
delay, thanks to this list being spammed unmerciflly
(like 10-20 messages a day it's 100% moderated) is
because this list was conceived to be ONLY an
announcement list for fic archived at the GW site.

The software went buggy a couple of years ago and,
amongst his demanding real life (which includes school
adn two little kids) fixing it has just been low on
the list of things to do, i'm afraid.

Last i knew darren was working on something, but
there's the practical issues of making software work,
the security issues of people using fanfic uploaders
to hack sites, and then the added complication of
seeing if the old site will be searchable by/work with
the new stuff.

If people post fic to this list, it would never be
archived anywhere else unless they did it. We wouldn't
gather it up and upload it like they used to do on old
mailing lists, it would only be here.

I do understand how you feel, i really do. As a fic
writer i have less and less places i can archive fic,
especially since ff.net went through and messed up
most of thier fic, but i'm afraid that when we're not
paying the bills, we're at the convenience of those
that do.

I'll keep folks up to date as i learn more about the
possibility of a new uploader
