I think filming finished before the first episode aired.

The only site I know of is the one from CTV.
Elaine
As mentioned earlier I'm two years too late but I work for a company
which is involved in the construction industry.
During Dec. we were responsible for conducting some renovs. on the
set/offices of the Eleventh Hour, this served to stir up some
memories of Traders. Hopefully I will be able to meet Sonja Smits in
the New Year(knock on wood), if filming hasn't already concluded for
this season.
Does anyone have any plans on joining the Eleventh Hour mailing list
or knows of alternative fan sites for this show??

I don't remember now - must have been ratings, money and/or the actors didn't
want to continue.

Not that I've heard (which doesn't mean a whole lot). The main actors, at
least, seem to have been keeping busy.

May I ask what kind of work?
Any interesting news on the Traders cast, especially

Nothing terribly interesting but according to imdb.com, her latest project was a
film called "19 Months" released in 2002.

I know I'm two years too late but as of late I have been watching
Traders reruns on Showcase. I really don't understand why this show
was cancelled however I'm curious if there has been any talk about
renewing this series? The other reason I have taken an interest in
this list is the company I work for has done some work for the
Eleventh Hour. Any interesting news on the Traders cast, especially
Angela Vint(Ziggy)......

Showcase (Canada) is airing it daily; don't know about other countries.

That was the last show.

Dear Elaine! Wow, I can't remember what I wrote to you but I did not intend to
criticize you! Sorry, but all I wanted to know is where is the show? I realize
it has been cancelled but are there reruns? The last show I saw was Marty in
the hospital in a coma and was flat lining! Again, I apologize if I came across
bitchy! I am so not like that! Happy Holidays and write when you can! P. S.
I can get all the Canadian stations! P. S. S. I think you have me confused
with someone else! I didn't ask about moderators! Take good care, Jan

You asked where the moderators were and if people could be stopped from joining
groups and uploading files. You said nothing about Yahoo. Yahoo provides
options for mailing lists; it's the moderator who sets them. Yahoo can't
control who joins lists unless the moderator chooses to approve memberships.
Yahoo can't control who posts to lists and uploads files to them unless the
moderator chooses to approve messages and limit who may upload files to his or
her list.
You also didn't check to see if the situation had been resolved before you wrote
your message. I checked the settings for your list before I replied to you.
All lists get spammed, not just Yahoo ones. As long as YOU have open membership
on your list, it will get spammed too (and perhaps I'll join just to see that
day). So once again, make sure your list is safe from spammers before
complaining that other lists are being spammed.
You don't want to see spam on mailing lists, don't join any mailing lists.

Where do you live? The series currently airs on Showcase (Canada).

The files have been deleted, the person removed from the list and banned (hours
before your message - ever think of checking the file area to see if they're
still there? And if I hadn't removed them immediately after they were posted,
tough, I'm not online 24 hours a day just waiting for people to spam my lists).
Short of moderating who joins the group (and I don't believe you have that
option set up on your Eleventh Hour list so make your list safe from spammers
before criticizing how other moderators run their lists), nothing can be done
until after the person joins and spams.
Since the files obviously have nothing to do with
"Traders", people should be smart enough to ignore them. Files and URLs sent to
mailing lists from people you don't know should be treated the same as
attachments in your personal mail from people you don't know - ignore, delete.
Elaine
Where are the moderators for this group? I realise that these may not
be "real" Yahoo! IDs, but is there a way to prevent them from joining the
group and spamming us like this (the three "file uploads")?

Hi everyone! I know they've only shown one episode, but I
thought I'd start a mailing list for this show. If you'd like to
join, go to http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/TheEleventhHour and
there should be a big "join" button somewhere. <G> It's a place to
discuss the show, etc. etc. ... hope to see you there!
... Mike. ^_^
Hi everyone! I'm new to the group... I see it's pretty dead
here, but oh well, I thought I'd comment anyway...
I saw Sonja on "Open Mike with Mike Bullard" last week, and she
was on for about six minutes just talking about this new show of hers.
It looks pretty good tho'; I won't miss the premiere on Tuesday.
Keep on trading!
... Mike. ^_^

The Artist's LifeSonja Smits
Whether or not being an actor is a job or a calling varies on the day.
It's a calling in that there was never anything else I wanted to do, even as
a kid. I grew up on a farm, and honestly, I think spending a lot of time
alone and not having enough outside stimulation forces you to live in the
world of your imagination. Most people grow out of that, some people don't.
And I was one of those that didn't.
Inspiration for a role depends on what that role is. Sometimes it's
easy because it involves more of a specific talent or area. For instance,
doing Traders [set in the financial world], that was a world that I was
totally unfamiliar with, so you do have to learn about that world before you
can create your character. So you do enter that world and glean from the
people in it and from where the script is and see where you can it in. And
doing a television series is different than a piece of theatre, because a
series is an ongoing creation that's evolving.
In The Rings of Saturn, I am The Woman Shopper. Everyone is a
prototype of some sort, there's The Doctor, The Swimmer, but this character
is a sort of fading trophy wife . . . the women you see at Hazelton Lanes or
Holt's in the middle of the day, beautifully dressed in all the right jewels
and makeup. A woman just approaching her expiry date. You see a lot of
people like that, and they don't gather much sympathy, you think, "Oh,
they're rich, they've had it easy, what do they do but get their nails done
and shop?" But the piece is about the loneliness in their day-to-day lives,
and their desires and fantasies, and I think it is sympathetic.
It was quite a new experience for me. I took dance in theatre school
and as a young actress took dance classes, but I would never in a million
years describe myself as a dancer. So it was neat to have this opportunity,
because I've been acting professionally for 25 years and it's the first time
I've ever been challenged like this. I've never had anything that is that
exclusively focused on expressing yourself through movement without a word
of dialogue. It became almost a meditation. The creation process was totally
different, too, it's something that evolved. It's not like, "Here's a script
and that's what you're doing." And I kept asking for a script because I
wished I had a specific storyline, but I started realizing as we worked that
the process was the piece - and the piece was the process.
I worked with the choreographer, Robert Desrosiers, over the course of
a few weeks, and the piece evolved out of what Moze [Moze Mossanen, the
director] wanted and what I brought to it. Moze hired an actor because he
wanted an actor, he's got Rex Harrington and Greta Hodgkinson in other
pieces, and by hiring me as opposed to a fabulous mature dancer from the
National Ballet - you're already creating quite a different piece. So it's
not just about technique. And the choreographer was very good at working
with what you are, what you bring to it.
I look at as an acting piece with movement. I didn't take dance
classes to prep for the role. I do Ashtanga yoga, because as an actor it's
important to keep yourself in shape and be available to move; your body is
part of the job too, although not in the same way as a dancer, obviously.
(If I weighed 50 pounds more, the roles I would play would be different,
too.)
While rehearsing, you have to work out as much as you can, for sheer
vanity, because your body is going to be shown in a tight knit dress, but
mostly you want to be able to move and not hurt yourself. You don't eat
crap, you don't drink red wine the night before, but generally as an actor
you have to look after yourself anyway.
Sometimes acting is a creative process and sometimes it's not. I
remember once when I was younger, I had five commercials in a month, and had
this pile of cheques, tons of money for me at the time. Then I did a piece
of theatre and got paid nothing for that, and I realized, okay, the monetary
prestige doesn't necessarily tie into things that have meaning for you.
I remember my teacher Robert Christie at Ryerson - we were very young
and thought we knew everything and would dismiss him as very old-fashioned.
But he said, "There are far more actors out there than we need for the work
that's available. So when you cease getting joy out of being an actor, get
out. Leave. We don't need you." Those really are very wise words, and those
have become a reminder to me that there really is an obligation to find joy
in what you're doing. It's a privilege to be an actor.
The Rings of Saturn airs Thursday at 8 p.m. on CBC's Opening Night and
on Friday at 7 p.m. on Bravo!
Sonja Smits spoke to Rebecca Caldwell.
Does anybody know where can I get trader's four season.
I was watching the tv show here (Peru) for hallmark but they
cancelled the show and changed it for another one..very unfair
so I would appreciate any help where I can get the episodes
Thanks

hi all,
I need a couple of quotes for a project I'm doing, and
I can't help the feeling there are several good
Traders quotes out there, but I can't quite remember
what they are. Could you please post your favourite
Traders quotes (preferably before Friday)?

Have you checked my episode guide at
http://www.geocities.com/lindycooksey/traders.html
(btw, no one has yet claimed credit for the lovely character bios I have on
there. I had found them online, but couldn't find the site when looked for
it later)
There's also one at excite TV
http://tv.excite.com/episode_guide/?code=EP169096&title=Traders&station=
TRIO&date=20010428&time=000000&getaffiliate=yes
Looks like all the titles are there, but they aren't in order.
