Hi Chrissie,
It wouldn't be necessary to hook two DVD players together. It's actually pretty
easy to separate the audio and video from each other on a computer with the
proper software.
I already have a complete set of 120 episodes that was recorded from TV
broadcasts, but the audio quality isn't that good. I've been looking for a set
that has better audio quality. From what folks have been saying, it sounds like
Kevin's set has the best audio of any that you could find on iOffer or Sell.com.
Apparently, the TV broadcasts that Kevin recorded for his set were transmitted
as time-compressed broadcasts, in order to squeeze in more commercials. I have
some full-featured audio software that is capable of rate resampling, which may
be able to restore the audio tracks to their original length, in order to match
the video from the official CBS DVDs.
I'd like to try out this procedure on one of Kevin's episodes. I asked Kevin to
sell me a set, but he said that he's no longer selling them. If someone could
help out by briefly loaning me one of Kevin's discs, it would be a big help.

get that done?

episodes with the original music.

typically recorded from different sources to make up one complete set. Some from
TV Land, some from A&E, etc. The TV Land episodes defitnitely had scenes edited
out to shorten the episodes. I believe the A&E episodes were uncut, but they
were time-compressed to allow for more commercial time. There was one station
that seemed to show the full uncut episodes because whenever an episode appeared
to be recorded from that station it would run over 50 min. The picture quality
was very good on those episodes, but the sound often was very crackly as though
they were old film prints. Those were the best quality episodes in those sets.

all episodes came from one source, i.e. the same TV station, so you know
exactly what you're getting. On Kevin's set I believe ALL episodes are uncut,
but they are time-compressed by the station so that each episode runs about
46:30. I wouldn't be surprised of people have "bootlegged" Kevin's set since it
came out, because it was probably the first excellent quality unofficial set of
the series. Hell, with the music fiasco, there may be some who find Kevin's set
preferable to the "official" release!
