Here are my suggestions:

Official Producers' board - a place to go to receive official
information (although, since the show is on hiatus, it is a bit slow to
update at the moment). The site has a message board that is
free-flowing and often has good information and usually the quickest
way to get a question answered.
http://www.freaksandgeeks.com

Robyn's site keeps the most up to date information on how a fan can
help save the show, including letter writing guidelines:
http://students.washington.edu/draheim/freaksandgeeks/

Operation Haverchuck has many innovative ideas for what to do and
includes a place to donates funds
to the campaign: http://www.geocities.com/haverchuck

Greg Barber has a great fan site with lots of information and a
heirarchical discussion forum. The forum is also a place where one can
go for tape exchanges:
http://www.gbdesigns.com/freaksandgeeks/

I wrote a FAQ a few months ago that can be found on Greg's site (under
'on the show'). I am happy to put in the vault here, if you would like.
I do my best to keep it updated.

Eden

I also suggest a folder in the links section with the URL's for the
various articles we find...

this article really was a little empowering, letting us fans know that
we do matter. I really feel that we can make changes if we band
together. Hopefully this board will allow us to do that a little
easier.

By Allan Johnson-Tribune Television Writer-

"It has been a little quiet on 'Deathwatch 1999-2000,' this year's
vigil for canceled series. For the last few months, networks seemed to
be content to stand pat with the shows they have, or put those series
on hiatus and replace them with midseason entries. That, however, was
until last week, when NBC announced it was cancelling Freaks and Geeks.

The critically acclaimed drama about high school teens in the '80's
drew small Nielsen numbers, and NBC certainly didn't help matters by
placing it on Saturdays when the show's core audience was hanging out,
then moving it to Monday's only to preempt it frequently.
It was scheduled to air last Monday, but NBC pulled it again, this time
for an edition of Dateline.

'If there's anything that's really painful, it's the return of another
hour of Dateline. What show could be more evil? That show exploits
tragedy for ratings', executive producer Judd Apatow told the New York
Daily News, apparently not banking on a future with NBC.

The network did agree to allow Freaks and Geeks, which still has six
unaired episodes left, to be shopped to MTV, Fox and the WB."

I know Dave posted this address several times on the board but maybe a

The other board was really cool and friendly until a few days ago. I
think one person showed up and had nothing better to do than screw
around with everyone and mess things up.

I don't understand why anyone who loves the show would want to damage
the good thing that everyone had going. The final straw for me was the
fake Judd post, which you just had to see coming.

I wrote to Judd, Paul and Maureen and told them what was going on with
the board. I explained the problem of not knowing when Judd or Paul
actually did post something and suggested that any news be posted in
the "From the head geeks" section. I also told them about this board.

Ok, enough venting.

What is happening there is what happens on most boards without a
registration system. People start playing posting games that have nothing
to do with the board's subject. This happens everywhere on the Internet.

So the official board is more like a chat room (People even use the subject
lines to communicate instead of writing messages) Not that that is bad,
either. The official board is a great place to gather all of the fans and
have lots of fun and energetic posts about the show.

This eGroup was created for those who don't necessarily have the time to
sort through all those posts, and just want useful information. This
eGroup can also serve as a searchable archive of old information and posts.

If you think this is a good idea, please get the word out to other F&G fans
that this eGroup exists. http://www.egroups.com/group/freakngeek/

Most of the network's web sites have e-mail feeback links.

And e-mail can be somewhat useful when writing to local entertainment
reporters/press.

However, nothing is as effective as snail mail. People in charge usually
take written letters more seriously.

Most of your questions can be answered at the Save Freaks and Geeks website:

And who does he think he is creating this board?

I've been lurking on the F&G producer's site for quite a few months
now, but just started posting recently.

Lately, I've noticed many regular members are quite upset that the
official board is difficult to use. But I haven't noticed anyone
offering any alternative solutions that have worked as of yet.

So, not being one to sit around and wait for a solution, I started
testing out this eGroup a few weeks ago, to see if it would help ease
some of the pain.

I do not want this board to compete with the Producer's site or Greg's
site (or any other site: Save F&G, Op Haverchuck, etc.) And actually,
I don't really want to run this board as the owner, but felt someone
should try it.

If this board helps us focus our energies -- Great. If not, I'll close
it.

Let us know what you think, and start posting messages if you think
this is a good idea.

A lot is happening with the show. Three very large basic cable channels
have inquired about buying the show and ordering new episodes. The big
issue will be whether or not they want to cut the budget for cable. The
last thing Paul and I want to do is make cheap, crappy new episodes. We
might be able to cut the budget a little, but there is a line we can't
cross.

Several networks are looking at new and old episodes this weekend.
There is genuine interest in airing the new ones over the summer and if
someone watches a network might have the option to order new episodes
for mid-season (January).

The best case scenario would be that a network would have a bad
development season, then order new episodes for the fall. Then we would
air on that network over the summer, or air all of the episodes on
cable, then have new ones in the fall on a network. This would get our
audience, new and old, up to speed. Then during the year we might have
what they call a second window, in which they air our reruns on cable a
few weeks after they've been on a network. The cast tells us that they
haven't read any good pilots (potential new shows for next year) so
that helps.

Regardless, we now know that all eighteen will air somewhere cool this
year. That is fantastic. There is more interest than we assumed there
would be, and interest always generates more interest. What helps is
that the episodes you haven't seen are some of our best shows. It still
may not work out for financial reasons, but there is hope. Keep writing
and calling. It's working.

Also, every journalist and critic I speak to is really impressed with
the umber of calls and letters they get about the show. It definitely
leads to more press. They have all stated that if someone else picks us
up they will support us.

The LA Weekly is doing a cover story about our show. Check out
MediaWeek.com There is a very funny article about the show.

We've also been talking to some video distributors, so maybe that might
happen as well.

I'm getting a little nervous writing on this board because one of my
messages about the state of TV appeared in The Newark Star Ledger. I am
proud of what I said, but it's weird to think some rant might end up in
the paper. Ah, what the hell. "Dateline" deserves it. "Dateline"
reminds me of that old Bill Hicks joke about how the devil won't look
like a monster, he'll come in the form of Dick Clark, and he'll get to
us by slowly lowering our standards. The truth is it may not be Dick
Clark, it might be Stone Philips. Buy Bill Hicks comedy records. He was
amazing. Reminds of a story. When I worked at "Larry Sanders" Stone
Philips was scheduled to do a story on Garry and the show. At the same
time they were trying to convince Garry to take over "Late Night" after
Letterman left. The day after Garry said he didn't want to take over
"Late
Night" Dateline cancelled the story on Garry. I thought they were
supposed to be a news program. I guess not.

Yes, the show is canceled, whether you spell it with one 'l' or two.

Also, if you feel the
need to blow off steam and rant that NBC sucks, fine, but we have heard
it. It is better now to start
sending positive messages to other networks who might agree to give F&G
another season.

We are even MORE happy to have you help us on our quest to get the show

Thanks for your interest in Freaks and Geeks. The goal of this eGroup
is to supplement the Official Board at the Producer's site
(freaksandgeeks.com) without hindering the discussions there.
FreakNGeek will archive news items and allow for in-depth discussions.

Members of this board are asked to post any breaking news, articles, or
ideas they read on the official board or elsewhere. Also, if news is
posted here first, please repost the info on the official board as well.

This board should be easier to participate in and use. Please be kind

the board is not moderated, but it does require registration.

One last request, when responding to messages, please do not change the
