It also says at the end of each episode that if she
does not win the $2 million, Erin will receive a
consolation prize. It doesn't say how much, but the
consolation prize alone could be worth more than the
$1 million (spread over many years) she gave up.

I think she'll choose Chad. Did you watch the reunion last night? And if you did, did you see the way Wade and Chad acted at the end? I thought that they both acted very ill at ease. I still can't figure out if this show is scripted or real. Wish I knew for sure. Anyway, I think, if it's real, that she's falling in love with Chad. But I don't think he'll pick her, I think he's going to take the money. That is my guess!!!!

I think you're right. About whether the show is scripted, I don't believe it is. I actually know one of the contestants who got the boot on the first "For Love or Money 2" episode and he says that the producers definitely influence things. For example, pit the guys against each other, had them staying up until 3 am -- that's what time they did those elimination ceremonies -- I guess so they'd be tired and more stressed out and therefore more emotional. I think that's as far as they go though. It's not scripted.

I assume this is the same part of you that responds to wanting or wishing for how things turn out in soap operas. Those are direct actors, these shows simply employ indirect actors. They are made to respond by remote control in response to the endless number of situations and circumstances the writers (yes these series have writers) dream up to keep the plotline (yes these have targeted plotlines) on track to sell advertising (this is the whole reason for the show). The advertisers pay a lot of money because a generation of marketing degrees from good universities combined with a population that is TV-conscious makes for the ideal poulation to be manipulated into purchasing the products and services advertised.

I live about an hour and a half south of San Francisco and let me tell you, $25,000 is nothing. You can not retire and live off of it so I think that Erin made a good choice in going for "double or nothing". It does not matter to me how this ends, part of me wants the fairy tale ending with her finding love and the other side thinks that it would be funny if she got turned down like she did to Rob.

I was only an actor in a drama team at church, but learned a lot about acting in those 5 years. I have e-mailed with Paige a few times, she seems nice enough in her responses. As for the show and Erin's choices, I know this kind of ruins the fun, but this is really about lights, camera and action than real genuine love. My feeling is people are so hungry to see good relationships that the networks simply capitalize on it by editing it just the right way to disguise the fact that these people are mostly interested in putting their lives on hold for the exposure it can give their hopes for a career in television. This isn't like the woman you work with being chosen at random to participate and they hide the cameras and sit back and let everyone watch 24 hours a day. This is 72 - 96 hours of several people's lives and interactions highly edited down to the 40 minutes or so of manipulation that lets them call it a reality show so people believe the tag. In no way did Erin give up a million dollars for a chance at two million. She gave up payments of about $1000 a month (after taxes) for 25 years in exchange for an additional two months of an hour weekly network exposure which is worth a whole lot more than a million dollars after taxes spread over 25 years, especially in our TV-conscious, image-driven society.
Remember Erin has been on network television for about 4 - 5 months now. She didn't give up anything in my book.
And oh yeah, lets edit it jsut right so it appears Erin is seeking a relationship. Do you all realize they could take any 12 - 15 minutes of edits with either Chad or Wade and turn your feelings how they want you to feel? If they want to shock you, they will have her pick Wade and convince you it is actually a hidden love she had for Wade. If they have her pick Chad they can shock you with all the edited tape of Chad being out only for the money that they have hidden just for the shock. Remember this isn't a live show. The whole series, including the part II (Erin's as the main character) was shot before the first episode of the first one ever aired. Enjoy it like a sitcom if you would like to, but understand that's as much reality as there is. Mark my words, if you interview these people when they are 60 years old some day they will laugh and tell you how staged it was and how their only interest was the exposure their agents and business contacts told them they could get.
That's not even being a cynic, its actually more far reality than you'll get from the show. :-)

Well, I don't know Erin or Paige so I can only base my opinion on how they come across on tv. To me Erin doesn't seem sincere. Rob and Paige does. By the way, did anyone watch the reunion tonight?

Don't think Paige was genuine in For Love or Money I, a friend of mine (female) had lunch with her, I can't say what the circumstances were, but Paige wasn't who she seemed to be on the show either. Erin is what she is a youngest child who is going to bloom (in sincerity and many ways) later in her life. She seems insincere because she doesn't know what she really wants yet. In the post-war years people tend to mature much later in life than during the Greeat Depression or World War II when you had to mature to survive. That's why the prase adult-children has become more popular.

My problem with Erin has nothing to do with living off her parents, not getting a job or wanting to be an actress. Erin just doesn't seem sincere to me. I didn't like her on For Love or Money 1. Thought maybe my feelings would change on Love or Money 2, but it hasn't.

I was in her shoes once. I got a job. I hear she has moved to L.A. to work on an acting career. Good luck she will need it. Watch her end up in porno films.

Mike -- Really? How unkind of you, and so unadult and common.
Several points in reponse to you and others:
1. She has not "lived off her parents." (with apologies for the
quoted syntax). Erin was in a management position in sales for a
high-tech firm. She and the company jointly agreed a resignation was
appropriate when she decided to take the NBC offer for the second show.
2. She holds a degree in communication from a major university in the
LA area. Neither LA nor the industry are foreign to her.
3. Her agent has been negotiating a sports media position with a major
network/production house. Expect an announcement after the conclusion
of the show.
4. The "may parents need the money" was an ill-chosen throw away line
that I'm sure Erin regrets. While he father suffered a serious stroke
a few years ago, he was one of the most successful golfers on the
senior pro tour. He was far more successful there, in financial
terms, than as a professional football player in a era when
compensation was good, but not exceptional by most standards.
Why do comments such as yours have life on the internet? Likely
because one can remain anynonimous. It is sad, because it is also
likely that if your mother knew you made such coments about Erin
finding a job in porn, she would be greatly disappointed in you. Can't
we find the ability to communicate on a higher plane?

already had one spots-related appearance on the East Coast.
3. I have heard through work (I'm in the film business in LA) that her
agent has been negotiating a sports media position with a major

I played in a pro-am tournement with John Brodie a number of years
ago. He was a real gentleman. I expect the apple has not fallen far
from the tree.
I wish Erin the best in her future, wherever that future may take her.

Real genuineness on reality TV is more rare than it seems. Ha ha ha read that she does not want to go work a real job. She's got a
pretty big head to think that she will make it in holly wood just because of the
