Just putting feelers out at the moment, but would anyone be
interested in a Dr Who-style "An Afternoon With...." for Jane (and
possibly Tony, depending on price)?
Patsy
But I see that the petition is still on 41 signatures.
As you'll all probably have noticed, I've changed the Group
description on the Home Page. I decided that as they messed up big
time by killing Jill, she'll not be referred to as Maddingham, nor
will have remarried Adam. They don't deserve to have that great
series linked with their rubbish.
Patsy
I've just found out that Yahoo! Groups will be unavailable from the
15th March 2am GMT until mid-afternoon on the 18th. So any messages
posted when it's back online will be delayed. Bit like now actually!
Patsy
Some messages *are* disappearing into Cyberspace. There's been
complaints on other Groups, and it's happened to me. So if you post
something that doesn't appear, blame the gremlins.
Patsy
Today is now the 4th (12.57am) and we're still
not a Group, but can occasionally access messages.
Hopefully next time I see this, we'll be a Group at
last!<br><br>And keep signing the petition!<br><br>If it's still
off on Tuesday, I want to take this early opportunity
to wish Jane a very happy birthday! It's also a year
since she returned to our screens with everything so
full of hope. Then look what they went and
did.<br><br>Patsy
We're being migrated, according to the message on
the links page! I've already had 3 now done today,
with 2 (now 3) in progress to my knowledge. See you
all on the other side! Don't know, when, but
obviously quite soon.<br><br>I had put the petition as a
link, but since the page has gone and Dan's Club's
still there, have to go by that for the
moment.<br><br>Patsy
Yeah, then you can bash some sense into whoever
decideds to give these things out! Great
idea!<br><br>Birthday nomination? No. In my puddled brain, I'm still
hoping we were just too late for the New Year's as they
been decided, so it might carry over to June. I'm
probably wrong, but thinking that way makes it easier than
thinking we're wasting our time!<br><br>Okay, the address
(course, it'd be easier if we had her HOME address, but
never mind).<br><br>c/o Collis Management<br>182
Trevelyan Road<br>London<br>SW17 9LW<br><br>60?! Bet she's
not looking forward to that. Mind you, she doesn't
look it. Still, if they keep ignoring her and us,
maybe they'll get sick of our pestering they'll give
her the Honour to shut us up!<br><br>Patsy
Yikes, I see what you mean about the signatures
on Dan's BBB campaign. Some juvies bacome much more
juvie when they're hidden behind fictitious names.
Hopefully, you'll get some serious comments here.
<br><br>Yes, I'd wait until after the birthday honours - did
you submit a birthday nomination for this year? - if
not, next year might be more appropriate for a
birthday honour as Jane turns (gasp) 60. We can still
resubmit later this year - I was planning to anyway - and
I'm quite willing to stand outside the Cabinet Office
with a mallet in one hand and the petition in the
other.<br><br>What's the address for writing to her? It's been about
27 years since I last wrote.
Thanks for signing. We need all the sensible
signatures we get, before it descends into the "Officer
Dibble" types Dan has on his! <br><br>What I was thinking
was resubmitting the nomination form after the
Birthday Honours have been announced if Jane's not there
AGAIN. Then wait for the next New Year ones and THEN
send in the petition. I'm hoping we won't need the
petition, but it could be a back up. Maybe it could be
delivered in person! I don't want to email it, which you
can do. Mind you, they could always chuck it in the
bin if it's presented in person. What do you
think?<br><br>Patsy
Excellent - found the petition and will sign (was looking at this club instead
of the Xroadsfanclub). Is the plan to resubmit a nomination form later this
year with the petition signatures?
Got a reply. I'd told her about the nominations
form last year and now about the online petition and
we have her blessing! She says;<br><br>"An award!
Fantastic - I would be delighted but I think it is very
unlikely but you're welcome to try. I really am quite
flattered."<br><br>Proves really how she's been overlooked all these years
and we have to do our best to put it right! Great
idea of yours, Colin!<br><br>Patsy
I *finally* managed to find the time to get that letter written last night, and
it's gone off today. I hope I don't come across as some sort of
loony!<br><br>Patsy
Okay, now I'm getting my brain function back
slowly (only girlies can understand!), I was thinking of
writing to Jane first and asking if she'd ever been
offered anything. I'd like to know if she's turned any
honour down before starting any petition. So I'll get on
with that this week.<br><br>And hey Colin, I'm
English/Welsh/Irish Patsy! :-)<br><br>Hmm, yes the signatures. Well,
going by the Benny one, probably not many. It's funny
how you get people saying they want this and that,
but do nothing when it comes to it.<br><br>So if Jane
replies I'll let everyone know. If she'd never been
asked, I'll get on with that petition.<br><br>Patsy
Sorry for late response - I don't care if a
petition is started by Welsh Rob, Scottish Colin or
English Patsy. I'd certainly be interested to see how
many signatures one might get. Patsy, perhaps you
should start a petition as club founder?? I did send in
an honours nom late last year, Rob, which was
endorsed by both Patsy and Dan, and it resulted in no more
than a crummy acknowledgement postcard. I'm still
having some home computer problems, Patsy, so it might
be easier for someone other than me to start a
petition. It's tough "clubbing" here from work.
Never mind. There's always the birthday honours
in June. How about starting a petition with
www.petitiononline.com to give Jane an honour. This could be submitted
along with the application. If enough people sign they
might just listen
That was a waste of time then, but not a
surprise. Of course, she could always have been offered
something and turned it down. Or they just don't recognise
talented people so gave it to the Bee Gees
instead!<br><br>Patsy
I've worked out what I meant - anxious. The old
"will it, won't it" scenario. I'm far too impatient by
nature and just want to know things one way or the other
at once. I'm not too hopeful. Not when (if the
rumours are true), you've got the likes of Jimmy Young
getting a Knighthood (another one before they die) and
the Bee Gees getting CBE's. She should get something
for services to television AND suffering at the hands
of Carlton! Oh well. We'll know soon enough.
<br><br>Patsy
Not nervous at all, possibly because I'm not expecting miracles. The Cockney
voice episode goes way back to the mid-seventies, can't be more specific than
that. Have a great Xmas!!
