Hi there [I'm new]. Since I've always been a Joe Dante fan, I caught and loved
Eerie since its first showing here in England. Yes, that's right: I have the
entire series one and a half times over recorded from the TV. What happens is
EErie is one of those shows where they show the first five or six episodes
during school half term and then that's it. I have the rare-ish demonic record
one too, the one they kind-of banned; did they ever show that in the states in
the end?
Got excited when I found the Eerie's first 3 episodes are on dvd in the US; I've
ordered it. Wonder if they'll release it all or just give up after the first
few. That's the terrible fate of "American Gothic" at least.
Out of curiousity, what kind of age group are the members here? A little
embarrassingly, I've struck 30. Even so, I was pretty distraught when Eerie
ended. Only had that same feeling with "Sapphire & Steel", "the Prisoner" and
"American Gothic". EErie was just so goddamned funny! "Goosebumps" is just a
wimp.
man-o-man-o-man-o-man!

OK< I just joined & read through all the old posts & realized that's
it for the last 9 months! I was thinking an interesting side topic
for Eerie Memories might be the reason you liked the show so much &
why you think it sticks with you?
I'll start... :)
I grew up in Indiana so as a kid it's aalways cool to have a show
based in your 'hood. Moreso, the area I lived in was East Central &
just on the outskirts of the city of Muncie, Indiana which became
famous earlier in the century for being listed as the most
statistically average town in America in a study called, I believe,
Smalltown USA or something similar. It seems doubtless that the
producers were aware of this & therefore chose it to be the region
depicted in the show & they even mention Eerie is the most normal
place on Earth. To me at the time, I felt like I WAS Marshall Teller.
:)
I had a friend, female, so not exactly the same stats as Simon *wink*
but we were interested in the darker side of things like roaming
around cemetaries, psychic phenomenon, ghosts, etc. Not in a satanic
way or anything, just in the way teenagers have fun. As you can
guess, I related quite a bit & really enjoyed the show.
To this day Halloween is my favorite holiday (YEY it's almost here!!!)
although I now live in Hollywood, California & not Indiana.
Anyone else care to share? Where is everyone from?

Hello,
as a new member let me first say that I was very excited to find this
group on Yahoo. Now for the part that will make everyone here hate
me...
I managed to record every episode either from first run, or the last 2
from syndication. I am missing only a small part of the beginning of
the Tornado episode wirth Matt Frewer. Before I get any requests, I
don't think it is feasible at this time to make dupes.
Also, what do you guys think of the "new" series that was on Saturday
mornings I believe? I caught a couple & they were fun but definitely
lacked the vibe of the original series.
I either made a group of new friends by joining or a group of new
enemies I think! lol
Thanks all,

I am banning them; unfortunately banning them doesn't stop the spam
reaching the list. I hope the problem subsides soon.
I need to point out that we're having a problem with spammerS.
Plural. BIG plural. I estimate that I (as moderator) have deleted 60
spams (from many different "members") in the last few days :-(
I've e-mailed Yahoo! about this but I doubt there's much they can do.
It seems the spammers are resubscribing under different IDs as soon
as they're banned. :-(
Anyway... who wants to talk about Eerie? :-)

Wouldn't it be easier for you to just simply ban the member who's sending
the annoying spams? I'm doing that on my lists when I get spammers on them.

No it isn't. Sorry about this; it seems to be a general problem on Yahoo!
Groups.

I've put the group in moderated mode, so all postings have to be approved by
me before they get sent on to group members. This should stop the spam, but
it will delay regular posts while they wait for approval.

Hmm.. well, I think I'm going to be in France for the day. Maybe I'll
celebrate the day after back home in the UK and just watch tons of the
videos with some French alcohol. :) If anyone around the Kent/London area
wants to join me, that would be cool.

Thanks for the info, Robert! I found a few pictures of him. He does look a
lot like he looked in Eerie, just older of course. It's cool that he didn't
change much!
I miss that long black cloak though!! ;)

Hey Nicolas!
Thanks for the welcome! :)
So what have you guys been discussing lately? It feels so strange to be
talking about a show I was watching when I was a kid! So strange and so cute
in the same time. You know, reminds me of the kid-Paula I used to be LOL.
Talk to you soon :)

He's done lots of stuff, lots of TV appearances and cartoon voiceovers.
I think he's appearing in an upcoming TV movie on the HBO network.
See http://uk.imdb.com/Name?Marsden,+Jason for his filmography

Awww, I just saw it today!! I even have it on tape but it has the
Polish ugly dubbing. Grrr. I'd offer to copy but I don't think you
want to watch it in Polish... Anyway, it *was* a good eppy!
And Dash X is so cute! LOL. BTW what is the name of the actor who
plays him? And is he working on something now? Gosh, it feels so
strange asking these questions now, after so many years since the
show was axed...
I'm kind of remembering my childhood now. It's wierd and funny
feeling :)
Paula
Hi everyone,
I thought I'd introduce myself :) My name is Paula, I just joined
your list. They're re airing Eerie Indiane here (in Poland) on Fox
Kids and I started watching it again. I remember I loved the show
when it was first aired here. I was about 11 or so back then LOL. I'm
21 now and it feels strange to look at Omri who, in Eerie Indiana, is
younger than me almost twice. I used to be head over heels in love
with him when I was a kid!
I'll be looking forward to talking to other Eerie fans!! :)
Greetings to all,
Paula
Welcome to the group, Nicolas. It's usually kinda quiet around here,
but maybe we can fix that. It is cool to talk to other people who
love Eerie, cos I often feel like the only person around who even
remembers it. What's your favorite episode? Mine (at the moment)
is "The Loyal Order of Corn." It was a good storyline for Dash X, and
we got to see a little more of Marshall's parents actually
participating. All around well-done, although we never got any
answers to the questions it raised. <pouts briefly> Ah, well. C'est
la vie.

Waii! You *are* lucky. All I have on vid are some of the last
episodes, cos I love Dash. I would looooove to have the series.
Although I'm sure I'd wear everything out in no time... ^^; I saw all
the eps when they first aired, too. I was obsessed with it. The
episode I remember most is the one where the girl Mars liked got the
heart transplant (the name escapes me at the moment). That sticks out
very clearly in my mind. I also remember watching the ep with the
magic pencil and SarahBob, and the one where Mars gets stuck in the
universe where time is out of synch. Sometimes I'm surprised I
remember those out of all of them, but I'm glad I do.

Hey people. I am lucky enough to have all the episodes of
the first series on video, although can't actually find that
episode at the moment, although I definitely remember taping
it. So, it must be the mysterious episode that likes to hide
from us all. Hmm.. yeah, I saw them all when Channel 4 first
showed them.

That is a fantastic episode. It happens to be one of the ones I have
on tape, too (I'm trying to do a transcript of it, but it may take a
while as I have limited time to review the tape right now). What
really makes me mad about the show's miniscule run is that that
episode and the episode "The Loyal Order of the Corn" showed such
promise for character development in Dash. But he never got the
chance. >>sigh<< Too bad, really. The show had such promise. It was
smart and funny, and the writers were very good with subtle self-
mockery. If I could go back to 1991, I'd tape every episode and bring
them back with me. Well, que sera sera, eh?

I didn't even see the show when it was first shown (on Britain's Channel 4 in
1993) -- but in 1999 Channel 4 showed The Other Dimension and then, when that
finished, they showed the original all over again!
The episode I haven't seen is the one that sounds the most fun: the one where
Marshall finds out that his life is a TV show and he's about to be killed
off and replaced by DashX. Every Eerie website I've seen rates that one as
the best episode, and I haven't seen it. :-(

There's a DVD available to buy in the US, try searching on amazon.com for it.
I think it has the first three episodes on it. There were a couple of VHS
videos of the first six episodes released in England in the mid-90s, but
they're not on sale any more.
Maybe someone else on this group has tapes that they can copy for you.

Hey..
I'm from the UK, watch the videos of Eerie that I have
fairly frequently (I think I have all but the second to
last one, since I don't seem to be able to find that
anymore.. hmm..), have only seen about one episode of the
other dimension though.

I would if any TV station in England still showed it :-( All I have are the
first 3 episodes which were released on video.
