Good old Geraldine was wonderful! but when I first saw the character in
1970, I hated Geraldine, an antagonist then, who loathed anyone, esp.
Nancy Karr who got too close to the truth concerning Gerldine's Whitney
family secrets...I recall it was Geraldine who was responsible for
Cookie, Nancy's sister, being sent to an sanitarium after Cookie had
threatened to expose Senator Colin Whitney's wife, Tiffany, affair with
her Cookie's husband, Ron Christopher...but Cookie sufferred a terrible
mental breakdown...that kept the Whitney secrets safe. Geraldine ruled
and drank a lot of brandy in those days. And one couldn't blame her
when because of she was the mother of Keith Whitney, probably the most
troubled and dangerous of all EDGE characters...

It's hard to say who was my favorite EDGE character since I liked all
of them...but I did have the deepest affection for Nicole Travis back
in 1969 when she was being stalked by Stephanie Martin...God! I loved
Nicole then who was simply unbeatable with that short-hair and mini-
skirt and boots, and Adam Drake and Dwayne Stewart in love with Nicole
who feared she was going to be killed by a crazy mad-man...who
accidently shot a Nancy Karr instead of Nicole...

Greetings Edge fans.  I just discovered this group and had to join.
Edge of Night was my favorite show for many years.

I first started watching in 1970 (I was 10) with my mother during the
Stephanie Martin murder story.  I still remember when the murderer's
identity was revealed.  At the end of each show that week, they showed
a clip of the murder and the announcer said "This week... find out who
killed Stephanie Martin!".  Each day that week when I got home from
school, the show had already started.  I would ask my mother... did
they show who killed her yet?  The answer was "not yet".  This was
also my first introduction to the age-old soap device... the Friday
cliff-hanger.  They didn't reveal the killer until the end of Friday's
episode.  The little girl on the witness stand was yelling "She did
it! She did it!".  Then the camera zoomed in on Pamela Stewart.  Very
cool scene!  From then on, I was hooked.  I wasn't able to watch the
last few CBS years since they moved the show earlier and I was in
school.  I was thrilled when ABC took over and moved it to 4pm.  I
stayed with it until the end.

Like so many others, my favorite was the original Nicole.  Nicole #2
was ok, but just not the same.  Nicole #3...eesh, what a stinker!

I still have the last 5 episodes from 1984 on video tape somewhere.

I remember well the day Logan died.Geraldine heard an intruder in her
suite at the Monticello Arms Hotel.She got her gun from the bedside
table and walked into the living room and shot a man thinking he was a
burglar[he was actually looking for an important document.It was later
to be revealed that Logan was the man she shot.He was drunk and
despondant after Raven told him they were over.Geraldine was very
griefstricken as she loved Logan like her son.....]

I just finished watching the closing credits of Edge
of Night's 50th anniversary show.  Loved it. I always
wondered what the show would look like if it was still
on air today.
I don't think Adam Drake Jr. would've become a doctor.
I feel he would've been a prosecutor or a police
officer. Makes sense considering his biological
parents were both murdered. He dedicates his life
stomping out crime, going overboard at times. Mike and
Nancy Karr pulling their hair out trying to reel him
in.

Now that I think about it, I agree.  When Nicole died, didn't Adam Jr.
go to England to live with Draper and April?  He was rarely seen when
Nicole was married to Miles, so I would assume that Draper was more of
a father to him than Miles.  Draper started his legal career as a
prosecutor, didn't he (on the Josie/Serena case)?

Does anyone have the August and/or September, 1977 issues of Soap
Opera Digest?  I have almost a complete collection of the magazine up
to the end of 1999 (am mising about 10 issues) but these are the two
from 1977 I am missing.  Unfortunately I was not able to buy the
magazine in the little town I grew up in and used to have to convince
my mother to take me to a small city about 30 minutes away in order
to get SOD.  The August 1977 issue is the one with Maeve McGuire and
Joel Crothers on the cover.

What I would like is a photocopy or transcript of the actual Edge of
Night synopsis from these two issues.  The Soap Opera History website
only have four SOD synopses so far and there hasn't been any changes
to that wesbite for a long time.

I know that if someone has these old magazines they are probably like
me and have no intention of selling them but I would love to be able
to read the Edge synopsis as I am a big fan of April and Draper and
these issues covered the beginning of their relationship.
