Thanks David. As long as the episodes exist, even if worst comes to worst
and they are are unable to reach a deal now, there is always a chance they
will be shown sometime somewhere in the future.:)Paul

Several episodes are available for viewing at the Museum of Radio & TV
Broadcasting in NYC, Chicago, and LA. If you are anywhere near one, I'd highly
recommend the trip. That place is heavenly!
I saw in ad in Weeky Variety about 12 years ago advertising reruns of The
Doctors episodes for foreign countries. I wrote to the address on the ad and
received back a short reply saying there were no plans to show The Doctors
reruns domestically at this time. So it seems that at least some episodes
existed 12 years ago at least.:)Paul

The episodes that do still exist from The Doctors from what I understand (and I hope I'm totally wrong) are from about '78 onward just like the other shows. Everyone has said that almost all of the truly great classic episodes of EON and The Doctors that ran in the late 60's and early 70's are gone. Edge due to them being broadcast live with no tape. And The Doctors having had the tapes recorded over.
If anyone does know of exactly what years those shows are intact continuously from, I'd be mighty interested.
I have asked almost everybody I can think of to make a list of which
episodes from which shows exist and nobody knows. I have no knowledge at all
but I hear rumors that people in other countries are several years behind in
the soaps they watch, but I don't know how many years for sure. I read so
many things here and there. I think I remember reading that the Ryan's Hope
episodes that are on SoapNet were transfered from some foreign "copies" of
the episodes. I don't know how to explain it any better.:)Paul

Sad news on this sad day: Kim Hunter(Nola Madison) died in NYC on
9/11/02. She was 79. She won an Oscar in 1951 for "Streetcar Named
Desire" and played Dr. Zira in several of the Planet of the Apes movies.
She had hundreds of credits in film, TV & theatre and was an acting
teacher as well. RIP.
How sad. I also liked her on As The World Turns.:)Paul

If you get Disney Channel or Encore, keep an eye out for Frank Gorshin
in the 1965 version of "That Darn Cat", which also features Grayson Hall
of Dark Shadows fame. It shows a few times a year.

Yahoo! News - Today's headlines
http://news.yahoo.com
check out the latest issue of ABC Soaps Mag, dated 9/17. Several Edge
actors had a reunion party, their 4th, and there's a small photo spread
of it. Lisa Sloan & Sharon Gabet look exactly the same after all these
years!
I just learned today through the IMDB page of Hal Simms' passing in
July. I very saddened by the news and my heart goes out to his
family. In addition to his spirited introduction to The Edge of
Night, Mr. Simms did a similar intro on a radio show hosted by Henry
Morgan in the 1950. This was Seys Who? He introduced it as "Seeeeys
Who?" The obituaries I've seen give an erroneous retirement date for
Mr. Simms--1972--he was heard on the network as a staff announcer
through 1992. From 1990 to 1992, his recorded voice announced the
networks identification, afterwhich Alan Berns took over and became
the voice of most CBS shows until he left in late 1995 or early 1996.
Like many of the staff announcers at CBS--Wally King, Lee Jordan,
Alan Berns, Bob Hite, Harry Kramer, Bill Gilliand, Geroge Bryan,
Warren Sweeney, Harry Marble, Don Robertson, Dick Noel and I'm sure
others--Hal Simms' voice was truly unique and an original. They can
never truly be replaced.
Sincerely,
Myron King
Sad news. This is an end to an era! But we can still hear Mr. Simms'
beautiful, spirited Edge announcements by logging on to Mark Faulkner's
wonderful Edge of Night Homepage & checking out the audio files.
After all these years I still find the EON pretty fascinating with its characters so realistic (in some ways at least) compared to most other television.
Special favorite story-lines and characters include Laura Hillyer/Rick Oliver, dreary old catatonic Orin, Nurse Holiday (Jane White!), Tiffany W, and of course Nicole (Maeve M), Brandy, Adam, and the whole mid-years gang.
Particularly interested in reasonably priced videos from this or other eras of the show, but not too much into the 80's end years.
My name is Dameion Dobson. I'm a member of the eon yahoo group. I'm
interseted in any eon videos anyone has to sell. Especially any from
1977 to 1984. If you have any, please e-mail me at
dameion_dobson@.... I look forward to hearing from you.
in 1984...ABC announces the cancellation of 'The Edge of Night'

Here's an article I just discovered; it doesn't mention EON, but it
should still be of interest, both to those of us who used to watch soaps
regularly - and those who still do.
http://soaps.about.com/library/weekly/aa082302.htm
Also, About.com apparently has a message board devoted to "Gone But Not
Forgotten Soap Operas." I've never checked it out, but others might want
to.
Thank you so much. The vast majority of us also watch Passions and Dark Shadows.
