I prefer some science in my scifi. It adds realism to know there is
a 'real' star that 'could' be a their destination.

It does not seem practical that they would return empty of any cargo.

That's the point. If the real material values should be restructured
to the landing craft, then the Advance transport ship need only be a
simple metal framework that would be no value loss by discarding it.
I don't believe the settlers intended to return to Earth. The
transport crew did, but they would return empty of cargo, so that
would be a loss for their company, and it would probably reject that
at start. Transport crew needs to be of those that wish to colonise
the planet. Thus no need for a ship return to Earth.

Actually, more "Lost In Space" than "Star Trek". But without the Star
Trek Federation and militarism, and without the kiddie fantasy of
LIS. And certainly without the 'Dr. Smith' of LIS for the same
reasons as given for the Morgan Martin of Earth2.

If later ships ever arrive.

As I recall, the Dr. would occassionally communicate with a man that
advised her to continue to sabotage the group. The communication was
by means of hologram images of the individuals meeting in a dark void.

I do not fault 'generosity to a mate'. But in reality, any group
would soon dispose of any character that continously puts the group
at risk for their own gains.

Earth 1 has plenty of human criminal danger. No need to cross 22-ly
of space to find it.

True. But I'm thinking of 'alien' dinosaurs. The Discovery Channel
just a week ago had a show that invisioned a possible future NASA
mission to send some robot machines to explore a planet 'light-years'
away. They found dinosaur-sized animals that had characteristics
unlike any Earth dinosaurs. One was able to dig into the dirt and
absorb nutrition from the ground. It would live this imobilized way
so long, and it was so huge, that trees would sprout apon the soil
accumulated on its topside. After stationary for years, it exhaust
the ground nutrition and then moves on to another location, crushing
everything in its path. Not found in jurassic park.

Must have missed that episode. But I mean as part of the initial
mission planning. Which would mean they were included on either the
Advance ship, or the Colony ship comming later.

Ok. I'll accept that, given their cargo-drop failure. But I doubt
that there was to be a Chariot-like ground transport included if the
cargo-drop had occured corectly. Simply because it would have been
too LIS-like. That's my point. Take the better components of other
scifi series and re-mix to make a better space scifi.

I don't know what is 'gay looking' about either B9 or Robbie. They
look like robots. As for 'retarted', they both had the I.Q. of a
major library. Granted, the B9 was misused/misapplied in the LIS
plots. And it's personality factor got out of control, but these are
errors of the series creators. In the first 5 episodes of the series,
it was acceptable. And Robby was fine in the movie "Forbidden
Planet", except for the 'making whiskey' bit and the 'new ship
navigator' bit at the movie end. Again, these are (stupid) plot
devices of the writers. But to my knowledge, Zero never said anything
and never knew anything. As you say, he was a labor tool for heavy
work. I expect more from a computer-based system, than to simply be a
chain-hoist with feet. I think here the Earth-2 creators went too far
to avoid a robot having knowledge and any artificial personality.
Even my own home computer can have VERBOT personality. I see no
reason to exempt the same from a machine made to replicate human
motions.

I might have missed those episodes.

SGA (like Star Trek) goes too far with the planet after planet,
humanoid after humanoid.
