I totally agree. The fact that the tasteless
woman verbally lashed out at her friend (watch it
again, she is full of malice) shows how shallow she is.
Maybe the "good" couple were the fans of the show and
the other couple had only seen it a few times. Also,
maybe the producers didn't do an effective job of
describing the possible consequences of getting a designer
who doesn't necessarily have your same tastes. What's
that Latin saying? Caveat Emptor? Buyer beware!

I thought the room was great (although I'm not a
big fan of the grids on the walls - I think it would
have been nicer if they were left that rich, chocolate
brown. I did, however, LOVE the fireplace.
It's not just you. That homeowner was whacked
out. Her statement, "I have to leave the room, I have
to leave the room", and her "sobbing" was so
over-the-top and dramatic. I have new respect for Paige for
being so kind about it all when I probably would have
said, "look, you knew the rules, and you signed up
anyway." Plus, did you hear how she went after her own
friends at the end of the show? When the one woman said
something to the effect of, "we knew you wouldn't like
it...", the freaked out homeowner said, "and yet you said
nothing." Give me a break! Ultimately though, I don't think
it was so much about Doug's beautiful modern
approach to her room, as it was about the homeowner's
personal expectations not being met. Cry over death and
cry over war, but don't cry over some paint in a room
that you asked to be painted.
For anyone who's thinking of submitting their
application to be on the show:

Please watch this
episode. If you have ANYTHING in your room that you don't
want changed, DON'T APPLY. I'm getting so tired of
seeing homeowners on the show who restrict the
designers. The premise of the show is CHANGE.

The
lady in Puyallup should never have volunteered that
room for the show since she had restrictions on what
Doug could and could not do. Perhaps the screening
process should be more thorough.

Personally, I
LOVED the new fireplace. Why are people so attached to
brick? Yes, brick is lovely but it's not something to
get so emotional over. Everything in there was
reversible. I think the husband's comment about it being
firewood was pathetic and uncalled for but they were in
the moment.

Here's hoping for continued
inspiration from the awesome designers on Trading Spaces!!!!
I have never thought of Doug as gay. Not that it
really matters. I would have thought that Frank was gay
and then I find out he has a wife,LOL. Anyway, if you
have ever seen the Trading Spaces board on
Discovery.com, some there seem to think that Doug and Hildy are
a couple.
Is it just me or did that homeowner totally
over-react? I felt horrible for Paige to have to stand there
and listen to her crying. I feel worse for Doug. That
fireplace was beautiful. When her husband said something
about it being firewood???? That was sooooo rude and
disrespectful. I was not crazy about the wall color, but that is
easily changed. I just cant believe they way they
reacted.
It's pretty obvious.
That's why i love him.
unlike Ty who is str8, i
actually have a chance with Doug!

& he's super-fine.
mmm mmm mmm...
no offence, but why does it matter??? who cares
what his sexual preference is, will knowing this
change your view of him?? No matter what, he's a great
designer, and seems to be an all-round nice guy.
again,
no offence meant by this post!
I totally agree with you, I think that they
should of did there homework like everyone else that has
been on the show. Doug was actually nice to them and
they treated him like crap. I don't blame Doug for
yelling at them for leaving.
I can't even watch that episode! As soon as I see
that they are on, I HAVE to turn the channel. I just
want to choke them both. I have to say that, although
Doug was angry with them, in this instance I think he
had every right to be. Had they never watched the
show?

I have to say that my favorite Douglas Wilson
Design was the family room where he had Amy Wynn build
the matching armoire and did the woven wood art on
the wall. (I think those were in the same room!)
Can you believe that mother/daughter team?! Those
tramps! They must not be big fans of the show and didn't
know they would have homework. Doug was great with
them but Doug seems to have a short
temper.

What kills me is when people have Trading Spaces come
in and then they say, "Don't paint this; don't touch
this; don't move this." If they didn't want their stuff
redesigned, move it!

Happy New Year everyone!
I finally got to see the episode where the mother
and daughter left that evening on dates and had other
people do their homework. Idid not think doug was too
tough on them. I cant believe they done that
I loved that room too!!!!! That room was so beautiful. I have to admit I love
Doug and he is soooooo cute, but I do love all of Vern's rooms. I cant say that
about all of Doug's.
I know the episode you are talking about. Vern is working on a bedroom done in
brown it is one of my favorite rooms it is just beautiful after vern is done
with it
Ok...I'm sitting here at work right now (on
Christmas Day) knowing that there is a TS marathon going
on...anyone watching? Any new ones? Before I left home, I was
watching the one with Laurie decorating the basement with
a Matisse-them. Vern was the other designer but I
don't remember what he was working on.

Hope
everyone is have a wonderful holiday! Stay safe!
I'm new here, and I just thought I'd say Hi to
everyone :)
I think Doug is an awesome designer, and
he's definitely one of my favourites.
I've also got
a club that may be worth checking out, the Trading
Spaces Fan Club.
Hope to see some of you there
:)
Take care everyone & Happy Holidays!! :)
So if you are Doug's cousin, why don't you just
tell us about hm, rather than promise to answer
questions... would like to hear how we can find out more
regarding the development of his style and who has
influenced him... does he ever give talks anywhere... and I
am sure that if you are his cousin, your info would
be coveted at some of those other sites where there
is the unending speculation as to whether he is
married
Hi all! I'm a new member to this club. Like all
of you I am a Doug fan but for an different reason.
I am Doug's cousin and I can answer questions about
him for you since I talk to him weekly. Thanks. Talk
to you later.
Doug's bedroom in the last episode was quite
nice, considering that it was a departure from some of
Doug's usual style... the paper on the wall kept it in
the usual Doug style. I like Frank a lot, but his
style does nothing for me... too many little art
projects that are well done, but not something I would be
comfortable with...

The wall hanging with the conduits
was also one of Doug's best rooms... I wonder how
that eventually turned out... didn't he wind up
covering stereo speakers or something... the couple that
helped him in that episode had some concerns about it...
but I thought it looked great.

As far as
Paige... be it her or Alex... quite frankly, the show does
not need any host... for the most part they just get
in the way...
I did like the bedroom he did on 02DEC. I LOVED
his using the bark paper on the walls and leaving the
edges loose - it added so much texture. Frank's room on
that episode (the basement) was, well, just like
Frank...but it wasn't country (which was a shock).

As
far as Paige...he voice to me is annoying but she
seems to be getting a bit more comfortable in her new
role.

Did you see the episode where Doug did that
wall-hanging with the conduits and he wove in wood? That was
probably the most interesting, attractive item I've seen
Doug create.
I think his Tuscany Kitchen is my favorite so
far. Although, I really loved the bedroom he
did on
the Dec. 2nd eppy. He was his usual cute self. What
do you all think of Paige? Just about everyone on
the Trading Spaces board seems
to hate her. I
don't think she's that bad. I sort of like her.
Hey everyone! Let's start chatting since we
finally have some members. What's your favorite Doug
design? Do you think Doug is single? Has anyone met him
or had a room designed on Trading Spaces? Have you
seen his new webiste (currently under
construction)?

Sam
