Well, it's a slightly belated happy birthday for DACU, but we're
officially eight years old! And before anyone says they've checked
the Wayback Archive and there's nothing before 2000... that may be
true, but we did exist before then, just not on www.donnaair.co.uk
for the first two years.
Anyway, it's been eight years and we're going strong. The adverts on
some pages are helping to pay the server costs, so many thanks to
anyone who's clicked on them - don't go clicking just to make us
money though, hopefully there are some things of interest on there
that you'll actually want to go and look at.
In return we're trying to increase the frequency of updates,
initially by adding news stories more often. We're trying to focus
on the points of interest that aren't quite big enough or long-term
enough to get onto the main site, as the news feed is a handy way to
include those stories and gives you something quick to read if you
just want an update. We're also working on a custom xml translator
too, so the headlines fit better with the overall style of the site.
Speaking of which, the CSS styles are still being added to existing
pages on the site, although there's a lot there to reformat so it's
taking a while. Hopefully this is a long-term solution so once it's
done the site will look basically the same for quite a while. We're
still keen to know what you all think of it - those of you who have
bothered to sign up to the mailing list are obviously the priority
for us!
And to the man from Fishworks in Chelsea: I'm not Donna Air and I've
never been near Fishworks in Chelsea. I definitely didn't run away
without paying on November 9th. Judging by Damian Aspinall's bank
balance, I really doubt that Donna Air did either!
Best Wishes to all,
Bobble Bardsley.
