There is also, because I realized this while Watching the commerical breaks during Glee, "Where the Wild Things Are" - it opens on Friday! So, if y'all would like to make it a movie day instead of a sit-in-Steph's-living room day, that could be fun too XD Although, I WILL miss my big sqaushy beanbag-bed thing...

This Saturday, 2 pm, at Steph's house in Oak Park. So the exact viewing details of this one is a bit TBD. We are going to *try* to finish up "Being Human" since we started the first 3 epsiodes of the season last month, but that is dependent on us being able to find good enough quality uploads streaming online Saturday. Don't think there is any new Who right now, but various good back-up DVDs will be at hand -- I have the series pilot movie "Caprica", or we can pop in some random comedy movie. It'll be viewer's choice, depending on attendance. :) And in a pinch there's always chitchat! :P (No worries, we know what we're doing, we're experienced professionals. ....)
Potluck, so we have food and snacks to munch on while we figure out what we're watching. :)

It's a two-fer this month: first, everyone's invited to a movie date at the
Truxel Marketplace theatre (Truxel & I-80) for the first showing of '9' at 11.
Then at 2, it's Steph's, where we'll have the first series of Being Human.
Altogether, stuff is gonna go until 7 or 8, so if you're gonna do both, make
sure to caffeinate appropriately.

I'm really getting into Being Human, great show! I enjoyed the UK's Life on Mars, and loved Coupling. I saw a little Jekyll, wasn't it a mini-series? It was good. I'm also a fan of Torchwood and the newer incarnations of Dr. Who. There's actually a local Dr. Who group you might be interested in. We usually what the newer Dr. Who and Torchwood but sometimes also other Brit TV. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/doctor_who_fans. I've CC'd them because there are Brit TV lovers on that group.
Thanks,
Steph

So, hi! I've been quiet thus far, but I really wanted to find out whether there were other folks who liked the British sci-fi/ fantasy scene. Of course, besides the obvious "Doctor Who" (in all his incarnations) and "Torchwood", I am a COMPLETE FREAK for "Life on Mars" (UK only, *not* the US version) and "Ashes to Ashes" -- those are my two fave shows -- as well as "Jekyll," "Being Human," and the short-lived, slightly lamentable "Demons."
Anyone else into "Life on Mars"/ "Ashes to Ashes"/ "Demons" -- I'm always up for a pint and a chat at Bonn Lair on J Street. ;-)
Also, I plan on showing up early, 11 am, to hang out in front outside the
theater. We could do a bring-your-own-coffee pre-movie hang-out if anyone wants
to join me. :)

go see the new movie "Time Traveler's Wife" instead at the 11:35 am early bird
showing at the Arden Century Stadium 14, 1590 Ethan Way, Sacramento, CA 95825.
The good news is that the early bird showing is just $5.50! Let me know if you

Turns out that tomorrow is *not* going to work out for the usual 3rd-Saturday
Sac Whovians meetup, so we're going to reschedule, probably to next Saturday
(July 25). (So *don't* show up at my place tomorrow!) :P I apologize for any
inconvenience this last minute change causes, but hope you find something else
fun to do on the fine Saturday that is tomorrow!

Hey, Sam & Vicki,
Is there any new Dr. Who or Torchwood that we haven't seen as a group yet?
If not, on the 18th (third Sat), do we want to come to watch not-as-new or older Dr. Who (or something else?) at my place? Or at your place? Or do we want to do a Harry Potter matinee for those who couldn't make the midnight showing?
Yeah, I know, silly me trying to schedule more than 24 hours in advance! :P ;)
We could have a torchwood marathon. Torchwood: Children of Earth starts the next Monday on BBC america.
Also i found my other box of 20th century Dr. Who DVD's, including the beginning set (An Unearthly Child (the first episode), The Tribe of Gum, and The Daleks). Plus much more.
Also, There are 26 original series titles and season's 2 and 3 of the new series available on the netflix website for streaming video. (I just counted).

CORRECTION: So yeah, sorry, silly me, I screwed up. I listed the Century Stadium 14, where Harry Potter is **NOT** playing at midnight. So if you want to join us for midnight July 14 Harry Potter screening, buy your tix at the *UA ARDEN FAIR* instead, as Fandango correctly lists. (The UA is the one in the same parking lot as the Arden Fair mall, NOT the domes across the street.)
Anyway, it's updated on the meetup page and I've relisted the corrected info below:
HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE GROUP OUTING! MIDNIGHT JULY 14 CENTURY ARDEN
According to Fandango, there is a 12:01 midnight showing on Tuesday July 14 on two screens at Arden Century. So I'm planning a group outing among any of us interested. (So far I think there's about 8 of us.)
Buy your tix soon, before they sell out, and join us!
(Any suggestions on the best place to meetup beforehand, say around 10 am in the Arden area? Email me at frellingbored@... and I'll send us all an update with the best suggestion I hear. Maybe Elephant Bar? Anyone know if it's open after 10 pm on a Tuesday?)
(We *maybe* will also do a Saturday 9 am or 10 am matinee showing on July 18th depending on demand. I think those are less likely to sell out so we can decide on that later.)
Ah. Yes. Time is a very important thing, isn't it? 1pm. Yays! I knows how to writes stuff down! And I only needed Mommy's help a little bit! I'm a big girl now.

That's right, TOMORROW. Because EVERYONE knows that needing more than 15 hours notice of an event is for LOSERS.

Potluck as always, but REMEMBER: we are The Crazy Cat Ladies. Meaning that THERE ARE FIVE CATS IN THE HOUSE and if you are ALLERGIC you may want to either a) bring a shitload of meds or b) run away.

We can host it at our place this time - we've got a new (hand-me-down), big screen TV. Just be aware - we have lots of cats! I'll post details soon as we come up with them.
