Flourishing BBC Daytime Soap Doctors seems to have a very similar
fanbase to Crossroads circa 1975-88 and 2001-2003...chatting to people
online and to others, I can see this clearly. Maybe this is why Doctors
seem to often 'guest star' former Crossroads 'names' like, for example
recently, Colin Wells.
Anyway, it is great to see how the former Crossie teen 'bunny boiler'
has progressed to being a Practice Nurse on Doctors! WTG Michelle! What
a great actress! Love her to bits.
It occoured to me today that we could LOBBY the BBC to do the following:
Wouldn't it be great if, during episodes of Doctors, cast members could
(at odd times, fitting specific storylines) 'casually' mention a HOTEL
called 'Crossroads'!
Now, there would be no danger of ITV screaming 'copyright abuse!', as
it could REFER to ANY hotel in the broad 'Birmingham' area where
Doctors is set. There ARE lots of hotels called Crossroads, anyway, if
you travel around the country.
For example, a doctor could say during an episode: 'OK, well, I'll meet
you at Crossorads...about six?', something like that.
It would send a 'sublime' signal to Doctors viewers that the producers
were respectful of the 'other' famous Midlands soap, and it would give
us all a nice 'cosy' little feeling that maybe our beloved soap COULD
perhaps 'rise again' one day.
What do others think?
Daniel, particularly keen to hear your views. I know you are a
dedicated, lifelong Crossie fan and have done so much great work
promoting the show in the past, via the media.
ALL THE BEST, GUYS,
Mark in Cannock Chase.
