Former Corrie star Keith Duffy has confirmed that he is to return to
Weatherfield. The actor has signed on to reprise his role as womaniser Ciaran
McCarthy.
The 35-year-old joined the show as Peter Barlow's (Chris Gascoyne) old navy
friend in February 2003.
He quit the show after two-and-a-half years to spend more time with his family.
However, in August last year it was reported that Keith was in discussions with
Corrie bosses about a possible comeback.
Keith is to begin filming his scenes in December and will be seen on our screens
in February 2010, according to Digital Spy.
A Coronation Street spokesperson said: "We're looking forward to having Keith
back in the show.
"Ciaran has got history on the Street and quickly falls back into his friendship
with Peter Barlow.
"But where Peter's changed, Ciaran hasn't and he's soon up to his old womanising
ways."
During his last stint in Weatherfield Ciaran was romantically involved with
Shelley Unwin (Sally Lindsay), her mother Bev (Susie Blake) and Tracy Barlow
(Kate Ford).
He also has a relationship with Sunita Parekh (Shobna Gulati), who is to return
to the Street with a new fiancé in December.
