Actually, I would suspect he is more likely agnostic (there is a
difference). To me, atheism is as irrational as total religious
fanaticism. One cannot prove or disprove the existence of God, so,
therefore, one who has no spiritual interests at all can only
rationally say "I don't know for sure whether God exists or not."
They cannot, under any pretense of logic, say "I know that God
doesn't exist." That, unfortunately, is what atheism is, in my humble
opinion. I don't see James Burke as being that illogical, so I would
assume that he is an agnostic before I would assume he is atheist.
Could be wrong though!
