Hi,
Here's an extremely long list of the history of how closing credit themes have evolved since entering syndication. Logos are sometimes changed, other times a logo may plaster another.
BEN CASEY (1961-1966, ABC TV)
First syndicated: 1966 (by ABC Films)
History: The Worldvision logo plasters the Bing Crosby Productions 1961 "filmreel" logo on seasons 1-3 and follows the Bing Crosby Productions 1964 "Crashing Cars" logo on seasons 4-5.
Logos used:
1973-1979 - Radar Globe Mk I (B&W; no byline or disclaimer)
1979-1985 - Radar Globe Mk II (B&W; "A Taft Broadcasting Company" byline and disclaimer)
1985-1989 - Radar Globe Mk II (B&W; "A Taft Company" byline and disclaimer)
1989-1993 - WHOOSH Globe (bylineless, with disclaimer)
1993-1997 - WHOOSH Globe ("A Unit of Spelling Entertainment Inc." and "A Blockbuster Entertainment Company" bylines, Blockbuster Entertainment ticket logo and disclaimer)
1997-2001 - WHOOSH Globe ("A Subsidiary of Spelling Entertainment Group Inc." byline and disclaimer)
Notes: Colored reprints of the series had existed (which would at first have used the normal Radar Globe Mk I or Mk II at the end). All episodes of "Ben Casey" were originally in B&W.
MANNIX (1967-1975, CBS TV)
First syndicated: 1979
History: The Paramount Television 1975 "Blue Mountain" logo had covered up all previous Paramount logos (episodes produced from January 1968 on) here (though the original logos were retained on some episodes), and follows Desilu's "Merging Circles" (post-1984 showings of "Star Trek" (TOS) episodes from the Desilu era also used this editing practice) on the first few episodes of its debut season.
Logos used:
1979-1995 - "Blue Mountain" (sometimes with its music)
1995-2006 - "CGI Mountain" ("A Viacom Company" byline, no music)
Most pre-1973 CBS TV shows (i.e. I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, The Andy Griffith Show and Perry Mason)
History: The Viacom logo covers up the CBS Television Network "Camera Shutter" logo on the pre-1965 (B&W) episodes.
Logos used:
1971-1976 - V-IA-COM (B&W version on B&W shows, normal version on color shows)
1976-1982 - V of Doom (16mm) (B&W version on B&W shows and sometimes with the 1971 logo's music; normal version on color shows and with its music)
1982-1988 - V of Doom (videotaped) (normal version on all shows, a warp-speed version co-exists)
1988-1992 - V of Steel (normal version on all shows, a warp-speed version co-exists)
1992-1996 - Wigga Wigga (normal version on all shows)
1996-2006 - Paramount Television CGI Mountain Mk I ("A Viacom Company" byline; B&W version on B&W shows, normal version on color shows)
THE LOVE BOAT (1977-1986, ABC TV)
First syndicated: 1982
History: No show produced by Aaron Spelling Productions (or Spelling-Goldberg Productions, of which Columbia Pictures TV assumed distribution later) originally had a separate closing logo. But the Worldvision logo (in this case the Radar Globe Mk II) first appeared on LB in 1982.
Logos used:
1982-1988 - Radar Globe Mk II ("A Taft Company" byline, disclaimer)
1988-1992 - WHOOSH Globe (bylineless, with disclaimer)
1992-1996 - WHOOSH Globe ("A Unit of Spelling Entertainment Inc." byline, disclaimer)
1996-2000 - WHOOSH Globe ("A Subsidiary of Spelling Entertainment Inc." byline, disclaimer)
2000-2006 - Paramount Television CGI Mountain Mk I ("A Viacom Company" byline)
THE FUGITIVE (1963-1967, ABC TV)
THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO (1972-1977, ABC TV)
First syndicated: 1979 (as both Quinn Martin Productions and Worldvision were bought out by Taft Broadcasting)
Logos used:
1979-1985 - Radar Globe Mk II ("A Taft Broadcasting Company" byline, disclaimer; B&W version on B&W shows, normal version on color shows)
1985-1989 - Radar Globe Mk II ("A Taft Company" byline, disclaimer; B&W version on B&W shows, normal version on color shows)
1989-1993 - WHOOSH Globe (bylineless, disclaimer)
1993-1997 - WHOOSH Globe ("A Unit of Spelling Entertainment Inc." and "A Blockbuster Entertainment Company" bylines, Blockbuster Entertainment ticket logo, disclaimer)
1997-2001 - WHOOSH Globe ("A Subsidiary of Spelling Entertainment Group Inc." byline, disclaimer)
2001-2006 - Paramount Television CGI Mountain Mk I ("A Viacom Company" byline)
Many more to come,
Ben
