> Here are NEW Summer previews, courtesy SNS from Soap Opera Digest (SOD):
"We're trying to mix it up and give different characters turns at being front and center," says Co-Head Writer Scott Hamner. "We're also turning to a lot of history. Expect a lot of surprises."

Sharon/Jack/Nick/Phyllis/Billy: "The paternity of Sharon's baby will be revealed. The revelation of who the father is will launch a huge, new story art that will take us way into the fall. It'll involve all of the Newmans and Abbotts and will be a very big story that will be emotional for all of the participants. It's not just about the revelation; it goes way beyond that and redefines everyone involved."
Victor/Adam/Ashley: "Adam is going to be running amok for quite some time. The danger of Adam is not only does he have Victor in his sights, he also has Jack in his sights. He is just driven to destroy these two men at any expense and then he becomes even more of a threat because he's able to fly under the radar. He's trouble and is going to be messing things up, generating a riptide of destruction."
Paul/Nikki/Mary Jane: "Mary Jane's identity comes to light. We're seeing just the tip of the iceberg with her. We'll learn what she's in town to do, and it's going to be a really huge surprise. I think it's going to be tremendous fun. Her presence is going to affect Paul as well as everyone else on the canvas. But Paul is going to be front and center in this story."
Cane/Lily: "They both stand to lose what they value and desire the most. They have a beautiful romance, but it will be threatened."
Kay/Jill: "There are going to be huge revelations; there are still secrets about the Chancellor family history that have not yet been discovered. There are going to be triple whammies in this story."
Kevin/Jana/Daniel/Amber: "They're going to be involved in a mystery that's going going to be twofold in its revelations. It has an explosive effect on Daniel and Amber due to the reveal of one secret, but under that revelation is another twist that's going to impact Kevin and Jana."

> Here are upcoming spoilers for the Summer months courtesy Toni's:
- Two characters you may or may not expect will end up in the sack together. Will it be a one night stand, or will it turn into something more?
- The gaslighting of Ashley reaches critical mass. What's she facing is twisted cruelty.
- News of Sharon's pregnancy rocks Phyllis and Nick's marriage. A turning point is reached. Big stuff coming up.
- Tragedy is just around the corner for more than one character.
- Two characters with a complicated relationship may be mending fences.
- Mary Jane gets crazier by the moment, raising suspicions of more than one person in Genoa City. Is she capable of committing the ultimate sin, and is Victor heartless enough to push her over the edge in the name of revenge ? Dark days are ahead for Mr. Newman, Mary Jane's true identity will be revealed shortly.
- Death will effect more than one character and may be on the horizon for another.
- Someone loses their riches.

Daytime Confidential

Submitted by Jillian Bowe on June 4, 2009 - 2:13pm

Chloe: The fashionista is over Billy and chucks her wedding ring at him.

Daniel/Jana: Daniel tries to prove his claims about the faux FBI agent and knock-off paintings with the real Agent Aucker by taking a polygraph. Aucker doesn't think Daniel's on the up and up. Jana sees Victoria meeting with the fake agent, who is trying to commission a sale with her. Jana realizes who he is and keeps quiet about his identity after Howard corners her and threatens Daniel. Jana cajoles Victoria into closing the deal with Howard.
After Howard departs, Victora tells Jana she's not spending a dime on anything Howard is selling. Later, Victoria meets with Agent Aucker and decides to team up with him to bust Howard. Jana informs Daniel of what transpired. Daniel heads over to Jimmy's (this is the new hangout of choice these days) to get the fake painting back from Howard and also have Aucker bust him. Jana decides to head to Jimmy's also and things get a bit more complicated when Kevin and Amber decide to tail her, insisting on being clued in.

Before she can fill them in, Jana spots Aucker, who is wary. Jana keeps mum on the plan and decides to see what goes down. Meanwhile, Daniel and Howard meet up in an alley where Howard brandishes a gun! Before anything can happen, a masked gunman jumps out and caps Howard! Before he dies, Howard informs Daniel that everyone will hold him responsible for Howard's death, just as Victoria comes on the scene. Frantic, Daniel flees home where he meets up with Jana, Amber and Kevin. Daniel and Jana decide its time to tell their significant others about the fake painting/FBI scam. At first, Kevin and Amber are upset the two didn't clue them in earlier, but Kevin comes around and tells Daniel he has to leave GC. Unfortunately, Aucker arrives and starts to grill the gang about Howard's murder and things take a dark turn for the young artist. Aucker informs Daniel his prints are on the gun used to kill Howard and he then accuses Jana of being Daniel's partner in crime.

Mac/Billy: At Crimson Lights, Mac bumps into Billy and the two take a stroll down memory lane. Billy confronts Mac on the vibes she's sending his way and she shows Billy her scrapbook of their past. Mac's defenses are up. She keeps insisting to Billy she isn't trying to cause any problems, but Billy stays on her until Mac finally admits she's still in love with him. Mac tries to cover by saying she doesn't want to be with him.

Mac says she doesn't want to be the cause of Billy's marriage ending, and doesn't want Delia growing up without her father. Billy clues Mac in on Chloe leaving him. Mac is torn by this revelation. On one hand she wants Billy, but on the other she knows Billy and Chloe have become close and could reunite, so she guards her true feelings about Billy's revelation. Mac doesn't know what she should do. She loves Billy, but doesn't want to be burned. Later, Mac has to decide between Billy and Raul.

Adam/Ashley: Upping the stakes on his gaslighting scheme, Adam decides to dress up as Sabrina! A horrified Ashley tries to flee when she spies "Sabrina", but winds up taking a tumble down the stairs and is knocked out cold. Adam decides to clean up his misdeeds by carrying an unconscious Ashley back into her bed and burning her bloody nightgown. While this is all taking place, Nikki comes back the ranch and is alarmed hearing Ashley screaming. Adam tends to Ash, and is able to hoodwink her into believing she's just having a nightmare.

Once Adam ushers Nikki out, the doctor examines Ashley and tells her that she and the baby are in tip-top shape. Later, the doctor tells Adam that Ashley miscarried. Adam blackmails the doctor to keep quiet about the loss. Even though Adam is hellbent on revenge against Victor and Jake, he feels terrible for Ashley. This doesn't prevent him from continuing to get even, however. Later in the week, Adam is freaked when Ashley tells everyone she can feel the baby kicking!

Victor: The Black Knight catches Adam with a recording of Sabrina's voice and orders him to keep his room door open at all times.

Mary Jane: She goes a bit too far.

Devon: He dreams of kissing Tyra!

Nina: She starts closing in on Cane's secret. When she has Phillip III's body exhumed for tests, she discovers there is NO BODY! Later on, Nina's safety is in jeopardy.

SOD (6/16/09)

'Is Reva Being Framed?' preview article - Jeffrey and Josh work to take investigative matters into their own hands, rubbing Mallet the wrong way. Rob Bogue says they are suspects themselves and have no business doing it. Jeffrey's convinced his wife has been set up and after he finds fingerprints on her car, he begs Mallet to check them out. Other evidence stacks up against Reva. The DNA results prove the blood on the murder weapon, found in Reva's car, is Edmund's. Mallet attempts to get Shayne, by way of Marina, to persuade Reva to confess. Mallet keeps putting the screws to Reva and Jeffrey is upset with Mallet's treatment of Reva. "It's not really mistreatment. He's not bullying her, he's just making her play by the rules," previews Bogue. Jeffrey accuses Dinah of framing Reva and wants her alibi. Reva panics after her house is vandalized and "murderer" is scrawled on her front door. Meanwhile, Dinah conceals a Molotov cocktail in her purse. Bogue says Mallet knows any of them can be covering for each other. The evidence keeps leading back to Reva to the point where he goes, "This is just too easy! It's got to be more complicated!" By week's end, Mallet isn't so sure Reva is guilty. "His detective intuition kicks in," Bogue teases. Meanwhile, Jeffrey and Josh are thrown for a loop when they find out Edmund's body is missing from the morgue. (looks like that discovery is made on June 10)

Recap for rest of this week - Mallet finds a PVC pipe with bleached-out bloodstains in Reva's trunk. He demands she explain and he handcuffs her again. Jeffrey tries to reason with Mallet, to no avail. A judge says the evidence is enough to charge Reva with first-degree murder and sets her bail. Frank takes her mugshots and fingerprints. Jeffrey posts Reva's bail and she's reunited with Colin.

SOD - Does Jeffrey enjoy being a domesticated dad?
Bradley Cole - "He's loving every second of it. It's something he never had before and he's allowing himself to live a normal life. It's almost like a fantasy to him."
There's the cutest Jeffrey/Colin pic

Also:
-Jeff Branson is 'Performer of the Week' for the scenes in which Shayne dealt with news of Henry being his son.

SID (6/22/09)

'Reva is Guilty As Hell' article - Reva puts on a happy face and makes Jeffrey breakfast, then takes Colin for a walk. "Reva has wanted to kill Edmund forever," Kim Zimmer says. Josh comes along when Reva is repairing Colin's stroller wheel and gives her some encouraging words. Jeffrey is standing by Reva and insisting to anyone who will listen, especially Mallet, that she is innocent. "In Reva's mind she would be totally justified in killing Edmund," says Zimmer. A conversation between Reva and Shayne makes it look like one or the other might not just be guilty, but on the edge of a confession. "Everybody wants to be the murderer,"says Zimmer, "so I play it like Reva is guilty as hell!"

Not one mention of Reva in the full page of GL summer previews.

Message boards are buzzing that Bradley Cole is on his way out but a GL rep insists he "remains on contract with the show." Now contrast that to how a GL rep replies on the same page to rumors about Murray Bartlett possibly leaving - "Murray is not leaving. He is here until the end." - and draw your own conclusions.

June 10 - Josh and Olivia are back in each other's orbits.

June 11 - Mallet catches Dinah in a compromising position.

June 15 - Rafe catches Natalia sharing an intimate moment with Olivia.

Phillip bribed the judge to sentence James to community service, only to have James call his father a hypocrite and reinforce his hatred.

Hearing Natalia admit that she's in love with Olivia, Rafe couldn't accept the relationship and opted to stay with Frank.

Bill and Lizzie announced their departure from Spaulding-Lewis. Confronted by Christina about the diamonds, Remy admitted to taking the gems but decided to get rid of them and flushed them down the toilet.

Jeffrey came up with a plan, aided by Josh, to make him appear guilty of Edmund's murder, while he fled the country to search for Edmund. Dinah joined him, intending to draw Edmund out by making him believe that Lara is still alive.

Coming:
With Jeffrey gone, Josh fights the urge to be close to Reva.

Monday, June 8th #15690

Beth is shocked that James started another fund after Phillip told him he'd turn himself in for the crime. Phillip explains that the only way for James to learn the enormity of his actions is to pay the consequences. Daisy explains to Buzz it's her fault that James got in this mess. Daisy admits she made James a fake ID so he could start another fund. Alan apologizes to Lizzie for James and says he will whip James into shape. Lizzie asks Alan to leave James alone. Lizzie informs Bill all she wants is to go home and can't marry him today. Phillip visits James and says he has a few questions for him. James screams at Phillip to stop and says Phillip got what he wanted. Clayton confronts Phillip and informs him that he's one of the people that James stole money from. Daisy visits James and brings him cake. Beth walks in on James and Phillip's conversation and vows not to let Phillip hurt James more than he has. Beth thinks Phillip is the one turning into Alan, not James. Alan comforts Beth as James is led out for his arraignment. Phillip speaks up and informs the judge that James promised to stop but then immediately started another fund. The judge denies James's bail. James is escorted out and Phillip is left all alone.

Cyrus explains to Natasha that they shouldn't be seen together if she wants to stay anonymous. Remy asks Doyle not to call him again. Christina thinks it is genius that Remy has been paired with Cyrus. Frank wants Remy to meet in the park with him and Cyrus in twenty minutes to discuss the jewel investigation. Frank shows Cyrus and Remy a list of known fencers and shady pawnshops. Cyrus thinks they should go to Doyle first because he seems like the hottest lead. Remy suggests Cyrus see him alone since Remy is a cop. Doyle informs Cyrus he got a primo stone recently from a guy who was going to use it as an engagement ring but he won't reveal the name to Cyrus. SOAPNET
http://soapnet.go.com/soapnet/article/path...inglight/page_1

The long arm of the Springfield law came down this week in more ways than one. Reva was arrested for Edmund's murder (that PVC found in her car is pretty incriminating), though it's obvious to us Reva didn't do it. So who's framing her? Then James was arrested by the SEC. He totally deserved it though -- if nothing else, for a being a jerk and assuming Phillip would take the rap.

Next week's events surrounding Edmund's murder will get complicated and downright bizarre. Jeffrey will find out that Edmund's body has gone missing! Wait, what? Is there a zombie in Springfield? This "little" complication will probably help out Reva (how could she make the body disappear while behind bars?) ... Or will it? Is a misdirected someone, with doubts about the provability of Reva's innocence, trying to help her out -- inadvertently making things worse? Or is the real culprit/framer-of-Reva hiding the body because they know that eventually the lack of evidence will exonerate her? Look for this case of body-snatching to get even more intriguing. Or ... really gross and icky.

James is in serious trouble. The law will come down hard, especially since so many financial schemers like him have been clobbered in the courts and the media. We can expect Beth to completely lose it when she realizes how much time James may actually have to serve for his crimes. A Turkish prison might seem like a nice stay in the country when all this is done.

His anger and confusion has (up 'til now) been simmering just under the surface -- but we all know Rafe is about to lose it. Expect that to happen next week as Rafe finally confronts his fears by lashing out at Olivia and Natalia. Boy's confused and maybe a little hurt; he just needs answers.

Marina was kind (or dumb) enough to give Cyrus a gig at Company. But we all know that job is temp, because all he's really interested in are those pesky vanishing diamonds. He knows from Natasha that Edmund was the last person in possession of the goods -- and we know what happened to him. Look for Cyrus to get another clue about their whereabouts from none other than Christina.

June has officially rolled in on "As The World Turns" -- and instead of bringing gloom, it's brought more kidnapping-related drama, more love triangles, and more returning-favorite shenanigans than you can shake a stick at. Wanna hear what's in store for next week?

Liberty is shocked and dismayed when Parker -- who doesn't even go to her high school anymore! -- shows up at the prom. Can't you leave your teenage ex-wife/stepsister in peace, Mr. Snyder? She just wants to move on, and she finds YOU around every corner.

Meanwhile, Meg finally makes a decision when it comes to her relationship with Dusty -- and it might lead to another charming Oakdale fella paying her some attention. Hmm ... charming? Could that recently-returned Italian be involved somehow?

Paul and Rosanna may have parted ways, but that doesn't mean Rosanna won't still find herself embroiled in the whole kidnapping mess. In fact, the newly-returned former farmer decides to come to Paul's defense. Oh, girl -- you're (sorta) new in town ... think that's a wise decision?

All this, PLUS: Emily is totally caught off-guard when Bob gives her some surprising news. And if it's Bob doing the news-giving, it probably has something to do with the hospital ...

Do you think Liberty should cut Parker some slack?

THIS WEEK ON "AS THE WORLD TURNS"

At prom, Liberty's relieved that Parker's not coming since he dropped out. However, Parker soon arrives and in turn, picks a fight with the guy Liberty's dancing with. Janet, Jack, and Carly break it up and escort Parker back home. Parker sneaks over to Emma's to apologize to Liberty, and she isn't happy. After Parker leaves, Janet comforts her daughter. Carly tells Craig she and her family don't need his help and takes a drink as soon as he leaves. Brad sets it up so that Katie can watch the live taping of his show with Vienna. An extra cancels and Vienna prompts Henry to play the part. The whole production turns slapstick, agitating Kim, who shuts it down. Later, Brad learns from Kim that people loved how the show was unpredictable and tells him they have their show. Although Brad's excited, Katie's hesitant.

Rosanna Returns to Oakdale
.....Paul...cooks up a scheme to get Rosanna's money back. "Rosanna does not know Paul is planning to help her in this way, and if she did know, she would in no way approve of it," says McClain. "She doesn't want to get wrapped up in any hurt feelings of the past, and money bought her no happiness, so she is willing to let it go if it makes peace in the valley, which is a pretty Zen stand, if you ask me!..."Does Paul's interest mean there could be a "PRo" reunion? "Anything is possible," winks McClain. "I think the theme is people do change and it is up for grabs as to who fits with whom. I'm not sure Rosanna is looking to the past for love, but you never know where love will be found -- it's usually in the place you might least expect it!"

Bonnie and Dusty find themselves in a a similar situation (June 11)

From the It's Only Your Opinion section:
Thanks [to Carolyn Hinsey, SOD columnist] for calling attention to boring Paul, Meg (whom I love), Dusty and all the whispering. Not worth straining to hear. And can they please stop using cookies, ice cream and french fries to get that adorable little child Johnny off the canvas?----Barbara from Virginia

One of the SOD editors is giving ATWT a Thumbs Up for restoring Damian to "his former luster as a romantic leading man."

From the Weekly Recap section of the same issue:
Meg has the chicken pox....Bonnie falls ill. Dusty takes care of her. Rosanna helps Paul escape, but begs him to give the baby back to Meg. Dusty and Bonnie go to the diner and run into Ro. Paul calls Barbara to say he'll give the baby back as long as Meg doesn't press charges against him...At the station, Paul arrives with the baby and hands Eliza over to Meg. Bonnie and Dusty enter with Rosanna.

Craig believed Carly when she said she's through drinking, and convinced Jack not to make her take a breathalyzer test, which would have confirmed the presence of alcohol. Meg saw Dusty and Bonnie in a kiss and told Damian she needed to see that to move on with her life. With Casey refusing to accept Riley, Margo asked Riley to leave for the sake of her family. Grateful for Hunter's help in reuniting her with Larry, Alison supported him on a visit to his mother, Aurora, who had suffered a stroke. Larry told Emily he doesn't recall having her eggs transferred away from Oakdale. Luke got money from Damian to help Noah make his film. Henry dressed in drag to confront Vienna on the TV show and unexpectedly ended up as a regular on the program.

Coming: Alison makes a decision that impacts Casey.

Stephanie denied the obvious and assured Taylor that Ridge's feelings for her aren't the result of drug taking. Arranging a romantic dinner for Ridge and Taylor, Stephanie warned Brooke to stay away. Overjoyed by Owen's departure from Jackie M, Nick proposed to Bridget. Clarke's words made Jackie momentarily doubt the wisdom of marrying Owen, who asked for his job back. Convinced that Owen is only out to get Jackie's money, Nick gave his mother an ultimatum: choose him or Owen. Pam came up with a plan to be a contestant on "The Price Is Right" as a way to drum up business for Forrester, but Donna was picked instead. Steffy put another condition on her and Rick's relationship.

RIDGE LEAVES BROOKE
Brooke supporting Rick and Steffy's reconciliation is more than Ridge can handle so he walks out on her. "He tells Brooke he loves her and always will, but he won't tolerate Rick with Steffy, and if she condones that...well, then there's an issue," says Ronn Moss. "He leaves because he needs some time to think things through."

After storming out, Ridge heads to Phoebe's grave, where he finds Taylor and unleashes his pain and anger. Moss notes that his character "basically has a breakdown and Taylor helps him through it."

As Taylor tends to her ex, she becomes concerned about Ridge's overly distressed state. "He tells Taylor that he just wants to be alone and not see anyone, but he feels comforted, cared for and supported by her," Moss explains. Taylor then suggests she take Ridge to the Big Bear Cabin so he can relax. Says Moss, "At first he hesitates, then he sees it might do him some good to get away."

However, after the couple arrives at the cabin, Ridge has a difficult time winding down. He's such a mess that Taylor finally gives him an anti-anxiety pill. "She sees that Ridge is in real crisis mode," Moss explains. "She doesn't give him the medication in mass amounts. It's just enough to get him to calm down."

Ridge likes the feeling of peace so much that when Taylor isn't looking, he pops several more pills. "Taylor is so caught up in taking care of Ridge in the moment that she doesn't notice," reveals Moss, "but someone else does."

While Brooke is trying to track down an MIA Ridge ("She keeps calling him but he doesn't notice."), he realizes that Taylor's presence has a positive effect on him. He announces to Taylor that his relationship with Brooke is no longer working - and he's moving out! "He actually goes back to Brooke and they're this close to working it out, but then something else happens," teases Moss. "Later in the week, Taylor attempts to be there for him to give him comfort."

And more pills?

June 10 - Steffy delivers an impassioned plea to Thomas.

June 12 - Nick wins the battle but Owen wins the war by delivering an impromptu proposal to Jackie.

Stephanie delivers a surprising and passionate answer to Eric's burning question.

There's a feature interview with Kyle Lowder, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood and Texas Battle.

As promised, the end of the week's spoilers have been included for The Bold and the Beautiful for the week of June 1…

Bill's evil intentions come out and they don't sit so well with Stephanie, as she and Bill argue over his agenda.

Donna witnesses a close moment between Eric and Stephanie, prompting the exes to divulge the truth. Later, Donna is faced with a moral dilemma when Bill presents her with a way to save Eric. He then tests her faithfulness to her husband when he tempts her with a romantic setting.

After Nick again warns Owen regarding Jackie, Owen makes a point by seducing her in a very specific location. Owen sticks it to Nick yet again when he and Jackie make new living arrangements.

As Stephanie apologizes to Eric and explains how she got to this place in her life, Eric, true to form, proves he's a stand up guy.

Donna however, finds herself in a familiar position when it comes to Stephanie, Thorne and Felicia.

The battle over Forrester Creations reaches new heights, as Eric, Bill and Stephanie duke it out.

By taking the opposite side to Ridge regarding Rick and Steffy's reconciliation, Brooke drove him straight to Taylor. Ridge overloaded on Taylor's anti-anxiety pills and made a shocking confession to her. Brooke was shaken when she found out that Ridge had been with Taylor, and her last-ditch peace talks with Ridge were too strained to stand up to reality. Steffy had to defuse the situation when Thomas found her and Rick together. Stephanie's reply to Eric's offer to rehire her at Forrester was not what he hoped for. When Nick tried to fire Owen, Jackie was caught in the middle after Owen responded with an unexpected marriage proposal.

Coming: Taylor starts to believe her dream is coming true.

Rumors of Sean Kanan Returning Laid to Rest
« Thread Started on May 26, 2009, 1:00pm »
Wishful thinking.

You may have read on other soaps sites that Sean Kanan is crossing over to The Young and the Restless as Deacon Sharpe. As fantastic as that would be, it appears not to be the case.

Our sister site Soaps.com contacted Sean's rep and was told, "At this time, Sean is working on his Internet series, `Camera Café' and getting ready to gear up for at least 100 more episodes. Sean would be totally eager and open to returning to daytime but this opportunity has not presented itself!"

It might happen one day, but for now it's apparently just rumor. To find out more about Sean's upcoming web series, "Camera Café," read the interview with him on Soaps.com.

Coming: With Jeffrey gone, Josh fights the urge to be close to Reva.

Two Scoops - Time to Step Up and Tell The Truth..
« Thread Started on Jun 1, 2009, 11:21am »
The interesting parallel universe of on-screen and off-screen GL continues….

On-screen, Reva's arrest was a little too quick for me - meaning she definitely didn't kill Edmund. But who did? So far Mallet is only focusing on the Lewis family - but I think I would broaden my focus to Dinah (who was pretty quick to shower after his death) and Olivia (who conveniently had returned to Springfield from San Francisco just in the nick of time.

This week there are a few other names that could be added to the mix. Cyrus Foley returns to Springfield with a new scam - and it's connected to the Dark Prince. Remy has what Cyrus wants, so you know these two old foes will go toe to toe. Can Remy keep his new/old job on the Springfield PD and help his dad? And when someone else finds out about his shiny new "friends", what will she have to say about them?

I still think that having Jonathan returning to Springfield could make him a suspect, too. If he's watching Reva from under the cover of his life on the run, he could have seen what Edmund was doing to his family. And it gives the writers the chance to tie him into stories quickly… just a thought.

Now that Rafe is out of the halfway house he has to re-adjust to home life. And since home has changed so much in the months he's been away, this might be a big challenge. He has a new home to move into. Mom has a new life - with Olivia (which he might be figuring out). There's the matter of finding a job (with a criminal record in a bad economy) and fitting in with the rest of Springfield - who have moved on without him. Now that Daisy seems interested in bad boy James Spaulding, where does all of this leave young Rafael?

Speaking of Master Spaulding, I have to admit that he's wearing thin on me. Sure, Phillip and Alan were butting heads all of the time at his age. But Phillip at least had redeeming qualities - like wanting to protect Beth from the lecherous Bradley Raines. James is just a selfish, spoiled rich kid - albeit one who was ignored by his family for years. I know that kids have to make their own mistakes - like maybe taking a car for a joyride (but not actually selling it). But this Ponzi scheme and his constant need to make a mess for his family - who are trying to be there for him - makes him totally unlikable.

This week we'll see movement on all of these stories as we head into summertime. But this brings me to the off-screen portion of this column…

Monday is June 1st - two months since CBS pulled the plug on GL. And in that time we've heard very little on what is happening to save the show. IF they are working to save the show - and I think the fans deserve an update. In the world of 24-hour news stations, it shouldn't be hard for P&G to at least tell us they are either still working towards a new home for GL, or that they have given up. And CBS… you can just keep quiet. You have spoken, so just stay out of things from here on out - ok? The fans of GL deserve the truth - it's been two months of this roller coaster and we'd like some acknowledgement that our efforts are working - or are futile….

I received tons of E-Mail last week about the whole CBS attitude towards the GL fans - and have been trying to get to all of it. I also received a ton of spam, so I am trying to get rid of all of that first - which isn't as easy as it seems. It's like getting rid of crabgrass to get to the healthy lawn underneath. Gotta love the spammers, especially those in languages I can't even read… ; )

I know that so many of you have written and posted about the cancellation and are doing everything possible to save the show. There are lots of stories about the show out there and we're trying to make sense of it all and find out where the show can go from here. I encourage all of you to keep writing and calling, posting on message boards and asking your friends to do the same. We need to all work together to show the networks that GL fans are serious about saving the show!!

Whether or not we know how this story - and this show ends, it is important for all of us to stay focused on working to promote the show in a positive light for as long as we can…

Together We Can…Keep the Light Shining!

With Reva further on the hook when the pipe found in her car tested positive for Edmund's blood, Jeffrey accused Dinah of framing Reva, but couldn't get her to say where she was when Edmund was killed. Jeffrey and Josh came to believe that Edmund could actually be alive and is setting up Reva. After Phillip testified about James' bad acts, James faced hundreds of years in prison. Urged by Beth to help, Phillip asked to speak with the judge. Cyrus made a connection between Remy and one of the stolen diamonds. Olivia and Josh unexpectedly shared a kiss after he helped fix her car. Rafe was unseen as he saw a tender gesture between Olivia and Natalia, later yelling at his mother and demanding to know what she's doing.

He is going to "take it to the limit" to get revenge on the father who ignored him, treated him like a second-class citizen & who he blames for destroying his life. Victor won't be the only one affected (well duh). There are some moments where Adam is tempted to back down but he won't "and that causes great jeopardy on the canvas."

A New Shocker!
Katherine & Jill's roller-coaster ride is not over. The past resurfaces again after Nina's return. K&J's relationship will be tested again. "It's a big, big bombshell."

The Good....And the Bad
Daniel gets a "mystery/action/adventure story that will have ripples for Amber, Jana, & Kevin.

Cane & Lily appear to have everything but do they? They will face some "twists & turns" that will lead us to "better understand what Cane is all about."

Hot Star of the Summer is Billy Miller
Basically it's just what you'd guess. Billy is torn between good girl/past love Mac and the vixen/his wife. He wants to see if anything is still there with Mac but he also gets along really well with Chloe.

Cover Story: Tragedy Strikes!
Adam scoops up Ashley since Nikki is knocking at the door. He sees the blood on the front of her nightgown but still he just returns her to her bed.

Adam cleans up the blood from the floor and "hides the incriminating nightgown." Nikki lets herself in but Adam intercepts her & claims that Ashley staying at Jack's for the night. She's really unconscious in her bed, of course.

Nikki has just left when Ashley screams. She doesn't remember what happened but is really unsettled. Adam calms her down but it's really the visit with the doctor that relaxes her. Adam goes off to burn the evidence but then Ashley comes down claiming to remember it all. Adam is able to convince her it was just a nightmare because her memory is so fuzzy. ED says the pieces of what happened are not coming together for Ashley but maybe someday they will.

Nikki may be Ashley's rescuer. She finds out that Ashley wasn't at Jack's so she comes back to question Adam. She has a bad feeling about Adam. She trips over the bloody towel but misses the clue & hands it back to Adam. (Me: huh? Does she not see the blood on it?)

Ashley tells Nikki about her nightmare & Nikki isn't so sure it's all a nightmare. The doctor (I guess a second one) that Adam hired shows up & says everything is okay. Nikki isn't convinced.

The doctor tells Adam first about the miscarriage but Adam threatens him into keeping his mouth shut. Adam struggles with his guilt. Nikki tells Victor about her concerns.

Ashley tells Victor she can feel the baby kicking so everything is fine. Adam does a little research & finds out about hysterical pregnancies.

Will Ashley go crazy again when she finds out the truth? What will Victor do if--or when he finds out the truth about what happened?

Set Your DVR
"Victoria could die!"

Victoria makes a dangerous deal to go undercover & could put her life on the line.

Mac finally opens up to Billy about her feelings.

Mary Jane does everything in her power to keep Paul from the truth.

Daniel is framed for murder & someone he cares about could end up behind bars.

Ins & Outs
MTS rumors. She was still working on May 27 but she could have been done soon after.

CE stuff. Basically they just quote parts of Engen's public statement.

Sean Kanan's coming to Y&R is still just a rumor. Y&R wouldn't comment & SK couldn't be reached in time for a comment.

CE interview
He's very grateful to Y&R.

He wasn't sure when Adam went to prison if he would be back. He was really touched that the fans even wanted Adam back.

He reads the boards (doesn't say which) and sees a lot of fans who want Adam to be more gray or to be redeemed. He says the writers know what they are doing & Adam is going to be "instigating more....drama."

He does worry that Adam will become irredeemable. The challenge as an actor is to make these "deplorable acts" "both interesting and human."

He's just winging playing the blindness. His TV mom won awards for playing a woman who goes blind from retinitis pigmentosa but he hasn't talked to her about how to play blind. He wasn't sure what caused Adam's blindness; he wasn't sure if it was "legitmiate, self-induced or the product of some medicine." So he didn't want it to seem too close to the struggle that Hope went through.

Adam still moves around so much that he has to remember "oh yeah, I'm blind." He says it's good in one way because it forces him to listen to more.

On Heather: "I thank God for that aspect of my storyline." Not sure Adam can ever fully forgive Heather for turning him in but he does think that Adam truly loves her. Heather has been the only light in Adam's dark world. "She's probably responsible for me still being on the show!"

On Victor yelling at Adam, "Eric really channels his rage & anger as if it's sincere, Engen laughs. "I don't know whether he's going to hit me or not!"

On Jack: "Adam needs to lay in wait. Revenge is a dish best served cold."

On Adam ever teaming up with Nikki against Victor: He says no. Adam sees Nikki as a mother who would not do that to her children.

Contract talks break off, 30-year vet is out

Contract talks break down, Y&R writes out Nikki

Have The Young and the Restless viewers seen the last of Melody Thomas Scott? Is the show planning to bring in a new actress to play the role of Nikki Newman? These are just two of the unanswered questions surrounding the announcement that contract talks between Scott and the show have hit a roadblock.

The Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) era at The Young and the Restless has officially ended... at least for now. Several sources tell soapcentral.com that Scott's alter ego has officially been written out of the show because contract talks between the actress and show executives have hit an impasse.

As reported last month, Scott, like most daytime stars in this current economic climate, was told that she'd have to take a reduced salary in her new contract. Scott refused. Show execs countered with an offer to have Scott appear on a recurring basis. The move, it would seem, would allow for both sides to benefit, while at the same time making mutual sacrifices. Scott also balked at being taken off contract.

Now, both sides have reached a stalemate. To complicate matters, the show's writing team is now crafting storylines that will be filmed after the expiration of Scott's current contract. Since it is not yet known if Scott and show brass will reach a deal, Nikki has been written out of the show.

The show could easily have put out a casting call to find a new actress to take over the role. That's the scenario that played out in early May when Scott's co-star, Jess Walton (Jill Abbott), initially refused to take a slashed paycheck. Walton, however, backed down from her demands and signed a new contract with the show. It is widely believed that Y&R execs do not want to recast Nikki and are hoping that Scott will return to the bargaining table and, eventually, sign her name to a new contract.

"I'm not sure if Mel and [husband and former Y&R executive producer] Ed [Scott] can afford not to be working right now," a close friend told TVGuide Canada.

If the scenario rings familiar, it's because Scott has been in a similar situation before. In 2001, contract talks between Scott and show executives also went down to the wire. During those talks, Scott was said to have cleaned out her dressing room and walked off into the sunset. A few weeks later, CBS denied that Scott had left and reports surfaced that Scott had cleaned out her things because her dressing room was being renovated.

Next week on "The Young and the Restless" it's all about secrets, lies, and undercover spies. But seriously -- when ISN'T it? Read on for the details!

Victoria makes a dangerous deal to go undercover, putting both her life and her trench coat and beret budget in peril. (What? That's what one wears when one spies, no?)

Adam continues his reign of terror, blackmailing Ashley's doctor to keep a secret about Ashley's pregnancy. Bad news for Ashley, but maybe not for long ... we've always held that on the "nefarious plots" curve, blackmail is on the desperate, grasping-for-straws downswing.

Worried that Paul is getting too close, Mary Jane goes to extremes to protect her secrets. Which in this town could mean anything from talking to a stuffed cat to injecting Botox into one's eye. Seeing as MJ's already tried the cat thing, we say bring on the needle!

Daniel's fake undercover fake art thing continues to fall apart, and when he's framed for murder he, Amber, Kevin, and Jana do everything they can to prove his innocence. But could their efforts end up sending more than one of them to jail? And really, shouldn't Amber and Kevin take a break from intrigue?

Finally, in the one story that doesn't seem to involve criminal behavior of some kind, Mac admits her true feelings for Billy -- and it's about time! The question is, will he leave his family to be with her? And can Chloe EVER catch a break?

What do you want to see on next week's "Y&R"?

Daniel and Jana decide its time to tell their significant others about the fake painting/FBI scam.At first Kevin and Amber are upset the two didn't clue them in earlier, but Kevin comes around and tells Daniel he has to leave GC. Unfortunately, Aucker arrives and starts to grill the gang about Howard's murder and things take a dark turn for the young artist. Aucker informs Daniel his prints are on the gun used to kill Howard and he then accuses Jana of being Daniel's parter in crime.

Adam tends to Ash, and is able to hoodwink her to believe she's just having a nightmare.

Daniel and Jana: Prime Suspects for Murder!
This week, Daniel is framed for murder when the con who coaxed him into an "undercover assignment for the government" is found dead -- and Jana is accused of being Mr. Romalotti's accomplice!

"Jana is terrified for both herself and Daniel," admits Emily O'Brien. "Daniel was trying to do something good for himself and the government, and it backfired."

The events are set into motion when Agent Aucker asks Daniel to take a polygraph test. Aucker doesn't believe Daniel's story about the fake agent and the forged Terroni he painted. Meanwhile, Jana spies Victoria meeting with Howard, who's trying to sell her the painting for money.

"Jana recognizes Howard right away," explains O'Brien. "But she doesn't say anything to Victoria, because he pulls her aside and threatens Daniel. Jana wants to keep Daniel safe."

Instead, Jana pushes Victoria to make the deal for the painting. However, once Howard makes his exit, Victoria announces that she's not buying anything from the con-man. Later, Victoria meets with Aucker and agrees to give him her full cooperation in catching Howard, while Jana explains to Daniel what went down with Victoria.

"Daniel decides to go to Jimmy's. He wants to meet Howard and get the forgery back, and have Aucker come there and capture him," explains O'Brien.

Jana heads to the bar, as well. Unfortunately, Amber and Kevin follow her and demand to know what's going on. To make matters worse, Aucker is there, too.

"Jana can't say anything," notes O'Brien. "Aucker becomes a little suspicious. Why is Jana there? Why does she have a look on her face like she's hiding something? Jana just walks away and waits to see what is going to happen."

In the alley, Daniel meets with Howard, who pulls out a gun. Then, a man wearing a ski mask jumps out and shoots Howard. As Howard lays dying on the cement, he tells Daniel that he will be blamed for his death -- just as Victoria approaches. Daniel races home, where he finds an anxious Amber, Jana and Kevin waiting.

"Daniel fills them in on everything that happened," recounts O'Brien. "He tells them about Howard's murder and admits he's in big trouble."

Then Daniel and Jana confess all to Kevin and Amber about the forgery scam. "They're disappointed that Daniel and Jana kept it from them," says O'Brien. "But Daniel and Jana explain that they didn't want to get them involved."

Kevin realizes that Daniel has to leave town as soon as possible. But before they can leave, Aucker shows up. "He questions everyone about Howard's murder. They're all frightened," admits O'Brien.

Things go from bad to worse when Aucker reveals that Daniel's fingerprints were found on the gun that shot Howard. Then Aucker accuses Jana of being his accomplice "because she knew about the scam and tried to help sell the forgery." Says O'Brien, "Jana's frantic! All she was trying to do was look out for her friend Daniel. Now they're both prime suspects in a murder. It's a horrible mess, and they don't know how they're going to get out of it."

A Closer Look: Mac
At long last, Mac admits her true feelings for Billy this week. Clementine Ford elaborates on the star-crossed lovers and what it's like playing the oh-so-noble Mac.

WEEKLY: Mac runs into Billy at the coffeehouse and shows him a scrapbook she made of their memories together. What's in the book?

FORD: I was really surprised when I saw the book. There are pictures, ticket stubs, little journal entries, and the karaoke CD Billy and Mac made. The scene starts off pretty light. They remember their friendship and touch on some moments. They talk about prom night and the horror of dancing in front of all those people.

WEEKLY: Billy ends up calling Mac out on sending him mixed signals.

FORD: Mac keeps saying, "No, no, no." Then she brings this scrapbook out. It's like she's hiding in her bedroom looking at it.

WEEKLY: Does Mac say anything in her defense?

FORD: She looks at Billy and says, "Who says I meant for you to see it?" Her defenses go up, because there is a little bit of her that wanted Billy to see the book and be a part of this with her.

WEEKLY: Billy ultimately gets Mac to admit her true feelings for him. How?

FORD: Billy keeps pushing and pushing. When he sees Mac's getting close to breaking, he pushes a little more. Mac realizes she can't do this anymore, because it's hard to keep up this facade and be nasty and shut off all the time. He asks Mac if she still has feelings for him or still loves him, and she says yes.

WEEKLY: Does Mac immediately regret admitting this?

FORD: Oh, yeah. She totally takes it back. She basically says just because she admitted him she feels doesn't mean she wants to be with him. It doesn't mean she's trying to break up his marriage.

WEEKLY: So she's still being noble Mac?

FORD: Of course. That doesn't go away, ever. Mac grew up not really knowing her dad and having a rough childhood. She doesn't want to put any child through that.

WEEKLY: Then Billy drops the bombshell that Chloe left him. How does she react? I mean, she has to be a little happy.

FORD: She is. It's a mixed feeling though. Clearly, Billy and Chloe's pattern is this push-pull thing. How much can Mac really trust this? Then there's the question of "How well does Mac really know Billy now?" On the one hand, there are possibilities there, but on the other, Mac is protective of herself. She's worried about what could happen and her feelings. It's all too overwhelming to think, "Am I happy? Am I not?"

WEEKLY: So Mac doesn't really know what she wants?

FORD: Mac is more confused than ever. She doesn't know which way to turn or whether to open up or shut down again. She loves Billy, but she doesn't want to get hurt.

The Suds Report: June 5, 2009
By Nelson Branco

High Noon: Melody Thomas Scott written out! Has Gina Tognoni signed with `One Life'? Guess who: Soap icon's secret return to an east-coast soap! Also, another soap vet's comeback! Canada cancels `One Life'! Plus: `GH' jumps networks! Is `Soaps Up!' in danger, too? `GL' rally scandal! `One Life's Tuc Watkins is back! Irna Phillips' daughter dies!

SUDSIEST QUOTES OF THE WEEK:
"Aaron [Spelling] just liked the vixen in me."
—Jamie "Turbo" Luner (Liza 2.0, AMC) to Soap Opera Digest on being typecast as the bitch
Translation: This one-trick pony is bringing slutty back to daytime.

"We have such amazing characters."
—GL executive producer Ellen Wheeler to Soaps in Depth on wrapping up each character's story for the show's finale on Sept. 18
Translation: I'm just figuring that out now.

"Wow. I love when people are writing the show for us. It saves us so much time."
—ATWT's head hack Jean Passanante to Soaps In Depth
Translation: Someone has to because we have no idea what the freak we're doing.

"I think Maria [Arena Bell] and Paul [Rauch] and the writers know what they're doing..."
—Chris Engen (Adam, Y&R) to Soaps "We steal online news and claim it as our own" In Depth
Translation: This interview is really old; and/or Engen can't be trusted when he speaks publicly.

SOAP OBIT
Irna Phillips' daughter dead at 65
Another one bites the dust: Soap creator Irna Phillips' daughter, Katherine Phillips Hughes, has passed away at 65. Phillips followed in her mother's footsteps by creating the short-lived ABC soap opera, A World Apart, an autobiographical show about her relationship with her sudsy mother. According to Variety, at the time of her death Phillips Hughes was developing music and reality TV projects in southern California. Hopefully, Phillips' Irna memorabilia will be donated to a museum or to The Paley Centre.

NEWSSTAND DRAMA
Why do soap magazines "steal" exclusive news stories from the online world?
Someone call the soap police because there's a robbery in progress. The magazine world is currently taking credit for the following hot news stories: Chris Engen quits Y&R; Sean Kanan back on Y&R; Tuc Watkins returns to One Life; Melody Thomas Scott in Y&R contract dispute.

Memo to Soaps In Depth, Soap Opera Weekly, and Soap Opera Digest: TVGuide.ca and daytimeconfidential.com broke the aforementioned news stories, not you thieves. Do you think giving TVGuide.ca and Daytime Confidential credit for our reporting will decrease your sales? Don't you have faith in your product? We credit everyone — and our numbers aren't suffering; in fact, they continue to prosper. Also, by the way, Soaps In Depth — TVGuide.ca is NOT an online blog. [Editor's note: True that.]

All My Children, A/ABC — Stause re-signs again!
• Chrishell Stause (Amanda) tweeted on her Twitter page that she's re-signed with AMC yet again. The popular starlet has extended her run until the end of the year.

• My brain hurts trying to imagine how head hack Chuck Pratt Jr. comes up his benign stories, so I'm going to quote Soap Opera Digest columnist Carolyn Hinsey on her thoughts on what's wrong with Stuart's oh-so-contrived murder mystery: "If that was Stuart who got shot, why did the voiceover when he died feature all the people threatening Adam, and then have Adam say, `I must die for all I've done to all of you?' At the moment of Stuart's death he saw moments of Adam's life he wasn't even present for? Wow, they were close. Maybe Anna couldn't return [to GH] because she is on her way to Pine Valley to arrest her ex-husband David for murdering Stuart. In fact, I think I see her walking in Adam's front door waving a sub-machine gun now." What she said.
All My Children, ABC
As The World Turns, Global/CBS — Update: This show still sucks!
• Oh, goodie: Rosanna's return to Oakdale sends shockwaves through Oakdale, Soap Opera Digest reports this week. Um, why? She's come back a million times by now. Moreover, let me guess: Rosanna will probably leave town in three months when the writers get bored of the character.

• Which star tells The Suds Report he hopes ATWT is cancelled in 2010? "We all need to move on with our lives and careers," he said. "This show is not going to improve or shoot up in the ratings under this management. I'd kill to get out of my contract." I have a feeling he'll get his wish.

The Bold and the Beautiful, CBS

The Bold and the Beautiful, CTV/CBS — Bridget and Nick remarry!
• What's it like writing for Susan Flannery (Stephanie, B&B)? Martha Byrne (Andrea, GH) tells The Suds Report, "That's a soap writer's dream — to write for someone of Susan's immense talents. She's the best. I got to do everything I wanted to do on B&B by writing comedy for Jack Wagner and Lesley-Anne Down [Nick and Jackie], and dramatic moments for Stephanie and the Forresters."

• Does anyone on this show ever enjoy a long engagement? According to readingeagle.com, those morons Bridget and Nick become engaged for the umpteenth time on the June 15 episode, and will tie the knot for the third time on June 24 and 25. And they'll divorce during November sweeps.
• TVGuide.ca is thinking of nominating Don Diamont (Bill) and his Bluetooth for outstanding performance by a duo at next year's Soap Opera Spirit Awards.

• Poor Devin Owens. The Soap Opera Digest reporter had to interview Kyle Lowder (Rick), Jackie MacInnes Wood (Steffy) and Texas Battle (Marcus) for a feature on the soap's "hot" love triangle. Geez — I'd rather have sex with Barbara Bloom than deal with this mess. Did he lose a bet or something? Meanwhile, Lowder tells Soaps In Death that his Talk Soup fame has benefited the show. "If anything, I'm sure it's made people curious to see what B&B is all about, so I can't complain. It's been a great vehicle." Yep, which is why B&B's ratings keep sinking.

• My new favourite B&B couple are Nick and Owen. I adore how Owen taunts Nick the Dick with his May-December romance with his mother, Jackie. I wish a scribe would pen this line for Owen: "I make your mother ecsta-dick, Nick," as he grabs his crotch. Can you tell that I despise Nick Marone?

Days of our Lives, Global/NBC — Grace dies!
• Have you noticed that DAYS is the only soap who hasn't changed its opening to include the faces of its characters and/or actors? Me likes. It's such a classic opening. And it's funny because when you think about it, the late, great MacDonald Carey (ex-Tomacita) has more lines than the other two vets on this show.

• Alison Sweeney (Sami) wants an Emmy Award bad: This week, The Biggest Loser host may just become a big winner next year when Sami's "baby," Grace, dies. Confession time: I think this is a brilliant plot twist which will no doubt bring the canvas together; Nicole's baby switch comes to the forefront; re-ignite EJ and Sami as a couple; and provide some killer performances from this great cast. My only issue is that I kind of wished that one of Sami's other children would die. To burden your young leading lady with a million babies isn't a smart decision. Sami is a few kids short of becoming soaps' octo-mom.

• Wesley Eure (ex-Mike) alleges on afterelton.com that he was fired for being a friend of Cher's in the 1970s.

• Just when you thought we had gotten rid of that baby killer, Chelsea, comes word that Daytime Emmy-nominated actress Rachel Melvin is back on June 10 to entice Max to move with her to London. Hmmm… Chelsea is back in town and baby Grace dies. Coincidence?

Daytimeconfidential.com, iTunes — Red Carpet Diary
• From editorial director Jamey Giddens' desk: Mallory is back! That's right, the soaptastic heroine of Likely Story and All That Glitters returns in Red Carpet Riot, on sale June 9. The Likely Story series is written by David Van Etten, a.k.a. the three-man, teen-writing trio of David Levithan (writer, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, with Rachel Cohn), David Ozanich (playwright and SOAPnet blogger) and Chris Van Etten (writer, One Life to Live). Pick up your copy, soapers, and click here to hear more about the novel's plot.
General Hospital, CTV/ABC — Is Christopher smarter than a fifth grader? Of course not!
• Oh, dear! Tyler Christopher (Nikolas) will be appearing on Fox's game show Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader? Yes, be very afraid.

• Let's all tune into General Hospital on June 18 to support Martha Byrne's debut as Andrea Floyd. If you missed my interview with the two-time Emmy winner, click here for an exclusive preview on her new character. Byrne promises Andrea will shake up Port Charles, and echoing Soaps In Depth's favourite cover line: "GH will never be the same again!"

• Emmy winner Sarah Brown tells The Suds Report she's having a blast with her new storyline opposite Drew Garrett (Michael), but she'd kill to work opposite Nathan Parsons (Ethan). Seriously, is this man hung like a horse or something? OK, Parsons has slightly improved in the acting department, but that's no surprise considering his co-stars are Tony Geary-Parsons (Luke) and Jane Elliot (Tracy). As for Brown, she reveals that GH just gets better and better this summer, so tune in. Yeah, I'll be the judge of that, sistah!

• Is this Dante? Some guy named Dominic Zamprogna joins the cast as Dominic, who's hired by Claudia to aid in her deflowering Michael. Oh, I kid.

Guiding Light, CBS

Guiding Light, Global/CBS — Gina Tognoni signs with One Life?
• Last week's blind item revealed: Sources close to Gina Tognoni say that the Emmy winner is thisclose to signing a contract with One Life to return as Kelly Cramer Buchanan. "She turned down two offers from CBS soaps," says an insider. The buzz is the other two soaps were Y&R and B&B. Is this a bad move on Tognoni's part considering One Life may not be on the air in three years? "No, she wants to stay in New York with her new husband," continues the mole. Look for the actress on the ABC soap sometime later this fall if all goes according to plan.

• So whose decision was it to shove the GL rally out of camera view on The Early Show? Several CBS sources tell The Suds Report that it was a producer's decision since they were discussing "a serious social issue and fans campaigning for a soap's survival didn't seem appropriate." An insider suggests the next time there is a rally, organizers should call The Early Show to find out which day is best to protest.
• Light fades out: Sorry, but it looks like GL is deader than Otalia's sex life. Buzz on the set is that there are no other offers on the table to pick up GL. Let's hope that's not true, but fans should prepare to say "adios" to Springfield on Sept. 18 because soap killer Ellen Wheeler is.

• Wow — Beth Ann Bonner (Natasha) is the only actor on this soap, other than Marcy Rylan (Lizzie), who actually looks better on GL's production model.

• Tony Awards update: Proving 2009 isn't GL's year, Ron Raines' (Alan) performance at the Broadway kudofest has been cut this Sunday.

• What the hell happened to Emmy winner Montel Williams as Clayton Boudreau? The hair model playing him now looks like he's reading his lines off cue cards!

Imaginary Bitches, imaginarybitches.com — Write an imaginary speech for real!
• According to AMC's head hack Chuck Pratt Jr, poor Eden Riegel (ex-Bianca) can't write, so the Emmy winner is asking fans to help pen her Webby acceptant speech here.

One Life To Live, A/ABC — CTV cancels One Life!
• Sign of things to come? Come this September, Canadian fans will have to tune into their ABC affiliates to get their rapemance fix. CTVglobemedia announced earlier this week that it has cancelled One Life, and will be replacing it with reruns of ER. Moreover, CTV has moved GH over to A at 3 p.m., but will keep B&B on the main network. AMC will remain on A at 1 p.m.

Scott Henderson, CTV's director of publicity, tells The Suds Report, "With respect to One Life to Live, unfortunately we were unable to find a spot for it on our schedule and did not renew [our licencing contract with ABC]. With Dr. Oz joining CTV, GH moves to A, partnered with Ellen, to reinforce a strong afternoon lineup." Question: if they couldn't find room for One Life, then why did they replace it with ER?

The future of Soaps Up!, the brilliant daytime entertainment show that airs between AMC and One Life, is also in question, so start writing into A and CTV to demand that Amanda Wilson stay on the daytime airwaves.

• Memo to GL directors and producers: I hope you all tuned into watch One Life's outdoor scenes this past week. That's how it's done, kids.

• Who else stood up from their couch and screamed, "Me! Me! Me! I'll do it!" when that fiasco, Stacy, asked Stan to punch her in the face? And I would have taken a few takes, too, just to get the shot right, you know. I'm a perfectionist. Can we recast Stacy with Justis Bolding? Yep, that's how much I despise Crystal Hunt's performance. I blame Stacy and Stacy only for One Life's recent ratings woes. Kill the bitch.

• Check out Erin Torpey's (the real Jessica) wedding pictures. Congrats, my love.

• The more things change, the more they stay the same: According to Daytimeconfidential.com (sorry, Soap Opera Digest — you didn't break that news, you news thieves!), my imaginary lover, Tuc Watkins (David) is headed back to Llanview this summer. Hurray! File this under interesting gossip: Soaps Up! recently reported that One Life will be creating a reality TV show within the soap titled, The Real Ladies of Llanview, which will somehow involve La Vickers. Very Fraternity Row if you ask me.

The Young and the Restless, Global/CBS — MTS written out!
• This past week, Eileen Davidson's new book, Dial Emmy For Murder was released. Considering the dumb-ass 2009 Emmy nominations, this book couldn't have been released at a better time. I have a feeling there will be lots of blood at this year's ceremony. Joking, people. Or am I?

• Once again, Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) proves she's her own worst enemy. As we exclusively reported a few weeks ago in Nelson Ratings, Scott refused to take a pay cut, or drop to recurring status, which is what the soap was offering.

While Maria Arena Bell and Paul Rauch hoped that the former hair model would re-sign with the sudser, insiders inform The Suds Report the two parties have hit a stalemate in contract negotiations. In fact, the soap has written out the character already because the show is writing story past her contract expiration date. However, at press time, Y&R has decided not to recast the role in case Scott comes to her senses. Ironically, MTS celebrated her 30th anniversary with the No. 1 sudser this year.

A former co-star tells The Suds Report that, "Mel thought she ran that show for years because her hubby, Ed [Scott], was the producer. Well, times have changed, and actors do not run that show anymore. She's nuts if she thinks another soap can afford her. Mel is so tied to Nikki that she won't get another soap gig, especially in these tough economic times."

This isn't the first time MTS has left the series over a contract dispute. The Emmy-nominated star bolted a few years back, but predictably returned a few months later.

"I'm not sure if Mel and Ed can afford not to be working right now," says a friend close to MTS. "She really thought she was exempt from these pay cuts."

As an aside, I don't want to be the person who has to tell Eric Braeden (Victor), whose contract is up at the end of the year, he has to take a pay cut. Good luck with that, Y&R!

• Do not miss today's Y&R, soap bitches. It's a doozy. Emmy winner Tom Casiello wrote a kick-ass episode that promises to change Y&R forever. Next week, Ashley miscarries her baby, thanks to Adam's
