That night, the two get together for drinks and Carly stays up most of
the night sketching labels for the vodka bottles. When she shows the
designs to Craig he immediately thinks they should take a trip to

Chicago they begin to take pleasure in having more drinks with one
another to the point where they are too drunk to drive back home.
Craig gets a hotel room where he insists they just sleep it off and
head home first thing in the morning. One thing leads to another
however when the two of them get busy between the sheets. When the two
wake up Carly is mortified while Craig thinks that the whole night
with one another wasn't bad at all. The minute they are back in
Oakdale Carly tells Craig she can no longer stay friends; that is
until she heads home to learn something bad has happened while she was
gone.

decides to turn him away. Jack and Victor put Ashley in the middle of
their heated argument.. Clint trips Amber and Kevin up in their
attempt to find Katherine. On Wednesday, March 4, Sharon just can't
seem to keep her hands off things that don't belong to her.
The Inside Story: In the Hands of a Madman
Esther, still reeling from the news that her new husband Roger only
wanted to marry her for her money. Unfortunately for her, she doesn't
have much time to do something about when Clint shows up and kidnaps
her and puts her face-to-face with Katherine. Esther can't believe her
eyes but soon realizes that they are in grave danger. Clint heads back
to the hotel and demands that Esther writes her daugher a letter
telling her all is well and that she is enjoying a wonderful honeymoon
with Roger. Clint soon hits the roof when he learns that his plan to
get Esther's fortune was for nothing when he discovers that Esther is
only the owner of Katherine's estate, rather than all of the money she
has. Realizing that they are in serious danger, Katherine advices that
Esther try to get Jill to buy her portion of the mansion. When Esther
goes to Jill with her offer however, Jill turns her down flat.
Meanwhile Murphy shows Amber and Kevin a letter that Katherine left.
After looking over it again, they realizes that Katherine has left a
clue for them: the name Clint. Amber later finds herself talking with
scheming Clint who approaches her with a load of questions about the
'woman' she's trying to find. Gina, witnessing Clint pressing Amber
for infomration, waits until he's gone. Once alone with Amber she
warns her that Clint is nothing but bad news and to steer clear. Amber
soon realizes that he is the man that Katherine clued them in on.
Returning back to the hotel, Clint's presence stirs up more memories
for Katherine who remembers more of his kidnapping her and that of her
late husband Rex. This time however Clint soon believes that he is in
fact dealing with Katherine and not Marge. Using Esther, Clint sends
her to Jill with a ransom note but Jill, still thinking it to be a
con, dismisses her. Furious and running out of options to get what he
wants, Clint decides it's just best to get rid of Katherine and
Esther. Meanwhile, Amber, Kevin and Daniel are hot on Clint's trail
and are at the hotel. Kevin, separating from Amber and Daniel, goes
snooping on his own and has a nasty run-in with Annie.
A Closer Look: Who Do You Love?

proceedings, Cane finds Lily and tells her that he and she can finally
be together, no questions asked. The two again become engaged and
celebrate by hitting the sheets. Chloe, however, becomes disappointed
when Billy won't make a full commitment to her and Cordelia. Jack
wanting to make sure that Billy takes his advice in making Cordelia a
part of the Abbott family decides to pay a visit to his new niece and
Chloe. Later that day, Chloe warns Billy that Cane is set to do
whatever it takes to get custody of their baby. Jill, still fuming

Y&R,Billy Miller (Billy) Interview Feb 27, '09 4:38 PM
by Patricia for group yrfans2
Betrothal follows betrayals on 'Y&R'
BY Carolyn Hinsey
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
Thursday, February 26th 2009, 8:57 PM
The good news is that Billy asks the mother of his new baby to marry
him Friday on "The Young and the Restless."
The bad news is that she is still married to his brother.
"Billy wants to man up," says Billy Miller, who plays the part. "He
found a conscience somewhere between whoring and drinking. He wants
his kid."
Even if he is not in love with her mother.
"What's love?" says the actor. "Billy loves a lot of people. Right
now, he is in love with his daughter."
And he just had sex with his brother Jack's wife, Sharon.
"Yeah, he may have a couple of broken noses coming to him," says Miller.
Chloe accepts Billy's proposal on Monday, even though he tells her it
won't be a real marriage - she'll be living in the Abbott pool house.
"That's Jack's idea," says Miller. "For better or worse, Billy always
follows Jack's advice - which may land him in the poky very soon."
Because Chloe is still married to Cane?
"They kind of gloss over that and talk about her getting an
annulment," says Miller. "Billy stays out of those affairs. He says,
'It's not my business. You guys figure it out. I'm going to be over
here whoring around.'"
Not exactly husband material.
"I don't think he's making Chloe do anything she doesn't want to do,"
reasons Miller.
As for Billy's other brother, "Cane was duped for nine months into
thinking he was having a kid, so he has a right to be miffed. But
legally he does not have a leg to stand on."
So Billy will soon be engaged to a woman he doesn't love, to get
custody of a baby he previously refused to claim.
"I know," says Miller with a laugh. "How can it possibly work? Billy
is a selfish schtupper, and Chloe is a selfish psycho. But selfish
people make for good drama."
Throw his much-divorced brother Jack in the mix giving Billy and Chloe
advice, and there's little chance they'll even make it to the "I do's."
"I imagine they do get married and hilarity will ensue," says Miller.
"Watching Jack play the moral compass is pretty funny. Having Jack
look over your moral family-hood is kind of like having a drunk
architect build your house."

--From Soap opera Digest and Weekly Insider (about all soaps)
SOAP OPERA DIGEST INSIDER
February 26, 2009
Greetings From The Editor
Lynn Leahey
Dear Readers,
Having found Joe Isuzu, the lying car salesman in those 1980s TV ads,
hilarious, it's been fun watching his portrayer, David Leisure, as naïve
Esther's duplicitous suitor on Y&R. Digest editor Naomi Rabinowitz chatted
with Leisure for our Web site, and when I read the interview I had to move
it into the magazine -- surely I'm not the only one wondering how a man
who's made a profession playing smarmy (he also was a riot as Charley on
the sitcom EMPTY NEST) is taking to Genoa City. Very well, as it turns
out. "I have to say that this is one of the most fun places I've worked in
my entire life," he tells Digest. Find out why in your new issue (and get
Naomi's take below)!
TALES FROM THE INTERVIEW
LAUREN FLYNN: VIP Celine Dion tickets. A life-saving fiancé. A canine
companion who's as fashionable as she is. Amanda Bynes and Zac Efron as
co-stars. A job with the hottest soap around (IMO). Crystal Hunt (Stacy,
OLTL) may just be the luckiest girl there is! What was initially a quick
news interview turned into a feature, as Hunt was glad to share the fun
details of her life since GL (she played Lizzie from 2003-06). All while
getting her makeup done to attend a concert that evening. If you're not
familiar with Hunt or her work on OLTL, be sure to check out "Happy
Hunting" in the latest Digest.
NAOMI RABINOWITZ: I was thrilled to speak with David Leisure. Having grown
up watching Leisure on the sitcom EMPTY NEST, I wasn't sure how he'd fit
in on a soap -- and as it turns out, neither was he!
"Soaps don't often do comedy, so I was surprised that they wanted someone
like me," he admits. "But I like that my character is different from the
standard soap character."
Still, Leisure felt badly about Roger tricking Esther. "Kate Linder
[Esther] is such a doll and I felt so guilty," he laughs. "But being a bad
guy -- and getting to be a funny bad guy -- has been so much fun to play."

CAMPAIGN TRAIL
You gotta love soap fans' creativity -- Digest regularly receives doodads
and goodies from readers who know how to make a statement.
STEPHANIE SLOANE: More gifts from the Steve and Kayla fans! I am
overwhelmed! I received personalized M&Ms (in yellow and silver) with the
messages "Steve and Kayla Belong on DAYS." I made fabulous cookies with
them that were much appreciated by a Steve and Kayla fan in my life. I
also got the most delicious chocolate-covered strawberries from Shari's
Berries, courtesy of Nancy Lovallo. The message was "Since Steve & Kayla
have been gone from DAYS, I feel like something is missing. The show needs
something, something delectable and definitely some sweetness. Bring Steve
& Kayla back to DAYS ASAP!" The berries lasted all of 10 minutes here;
they were awesome! Thank you all! Really, it is so generous and I wish the
Johnsons were back in Salem so you could save your money!
VERA HADZI-ANTICH: GH campaigners were very enthusiastic this week. Jason
and Elizabeth supporters sent in a big, red #1 fan finger along with a
"resume of a winning daytime drama couple," which lists the objective,
experiences and other interests of Jason Morgan and Elizabeth Webber.
Liason fans also sent in "While you were out" messages from Aphrodite,
Cupid and Venus saying "Elizabeth needs Jason!" Very creative campaign
this week, Liason crew! A new campaign for Ethan and Lulu came in this
week with the message "take a gamble on love." Folks are also hopeful that
something will happen between Maxie and Matt and are calling them "Team
M&M."
Still in shock from the firings of Stephen Nichols (Steve) and Mary Beth
Evans (Kayla), Steve and Kayla fans sent in pillows with the couples
picture on it and a card that reads "Always, forever ... two hearts, one
soul." It seems that these campaigners are hopeful for a possible return,
proclaiming the couple is "Strong, sweet and steaming hot -- Steve and
Kayla: the perfect blend."
AMC viewers supporting Bianca and Resse's wedding sent in a big card
thanking ABC "for telling the story of Bianca and Reese -- their love
story and wedding -- and highlighting it in the press, which allowed us to
finally watch a story on daytime that we relate to, on so many levels."
Aidan and Annie campaigners claim that "The A-Team: Aidan and Annie -- are
the ones to watch on AMC."
Keep those creative campaigns coming!
TYPE SET
B&B's Rick is joining the Army? Are you kidding me?! As I recall, when he
was a teenager Amber gave him a kidney when they were in a serious car
accident. I would think that would disqualify him from becoming enlisted.
I love Kyle Lowder but this storyline is a joke! This show has become such
a disappointment! And that hottie Brandon Beemer is being totally wasted!
Thank God for the fast-forward button! Robin from Ohio
STAR SIGHTING
Marie Masters (Susan, ATWT) with daughter Jenny Harris (ex-Emily) and two
grandchildren at Philadelphia's 30th Street train station, heading back to
New York.
IN PERSON
I met Christian LeBlanc (Michael, Y&R) at Silver Springs Nature Park in
Florida on Valentine's Day. What a treasure he is. Took his time with each
fan. He also did a lot of talking and kept things flowing during the
question answer period. Exceptionally nice person. Cathy McCaslin

ASK US
Answers to your burning questions.
Q. I would like to know who plays the role of Annie the kidnapper on YOUNG
AND RESTLESS. We would also like to know what she played on before this.
My husband and I think that she played the receptionist on the old BOB
NEWHART SHOW, co-starring Suzanne Pleshette. Could you please fill us in?
L.R., via the Internet
A. Good eye! That is indeed Marcia Wallace (ex-Carol, THE BOB NEWHART
SHOW) who plays Annie on Y&R. Wallace also voices Mrs. Krabappel on THE
SIMPSONS. For more on Wallace's take on Annie, check out the Gossip
section of the 3/31 issue of Digest.
INSIDER POLL
Have your say in our exclusive subscriber-only poll.
Last week, we asked: Which baby-centered storyline is the best in daytime?
There were 1136 votes.
You said:
ATWT's Katie and Brad's fertility dilemma: 5%
DAYS's Nicole, EJ and Sami's mommy drama: 22%
GH's Robin's postpartum depression: 18%
GL's Reva's risky pregnancy: 4%
OLTL's Jess/Tess and Starr's baby kidnapping: 16%
Y&R's Chloe, Billy and Cane's daddy drama: 35%
Here's this week's question:
DAYS has had some major cast changes -- including firings and those
leaving on their own terms. (Check on this week's issue to see what Rachel
Melvin says about her decision to quit the role of Chelsea!) If a star's
exit is their decision, does it make a difference?
Yes. At least I know they are leaving because they want to.
No. They are probably leaving because they're not being treated right.
Mixed. I'm glad it's their decision, but I will miss them!

Jane and she'll debut on March 18.

OUTs
--OLTL's BethAnn Bonner (Talia) and Jacqueline Hendy (Vanessa) are both
leaving the ABC soap. Tuc Watkins (David) will exit Llanview on March 2,
but will be back in April.
THE TOP 10 PLUS
1. Considering how many times DAYS OF OUR LIVES' Lucas has been cheated on
-- Nicole, Carrie, Sami and now Chloe -- it's a miracle he's ever stayed
sober.
2. YOUNG AND RESTLESS' Billy overrated Esther and Roger's wedding when he
called it "a 99-cent store" special. At best, it was a 50-cent piece.
3. It's the economy, stupid! Things are tough enough in real life without
having to watch ALL MY CHILDREN's wealthy Adam and Erica complain about
having money problems.
4. However, ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Markko worrying about how he was going to
pay for his college education was right on target.
5. Family resemblance alert! AS THE WORLD TURNS' nuLucy, Sarah Glendening,
is a perfect mix of not one but two of Lucy's aunt Lilys -- Martha Byrne
and Noelle Beck.
6. Why is GENERAL HOSPITAL's Luke so eager to take Ethan under his wing
when he has troubled biological kids who need him?
7. Hey, THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL's Steffy: Way to set the women's
movement back a hundred years by quitting your job so Rick could keep his.
8. Sorry Van Halen, but the bond between OLTL's Schuyler and Starr isn't
exactly making us "hot for teacher."
9. Forget weddings, GUIDING LIGHT's Spaulding clan is perfecting the art
of funeral crashing.
10. ATWT's mystery of "Who killed Reg?" doesn't hold a candle to the
mystery of "Where's Luke's brother, Aaron?"
11. Too bad OLTL didn't pursue a romance between Ray and Dorian or even
Ray and Tea. It would have been great to see A Martinez (Ray) as a
romantic leading man again.
12. GL's Springfield was so hard up for happiness that Reva's baby shower
was practically turned into a holiday!
FOR YOUR EYES ONLY
From West Coast Editor Janet Di Lauro: While Kate Linder can't condone,
she certainly does understand Esther's love for slick Roger and ridiculous
decision to marry him. "Poor Esther," sighs Linder. "Nobody ever pays
attention to her. And, don't forget, Roger did all the right things. He
was so sweet and cute, and he brought Esther flowers. It's funny, when I
was playing the scenes with David Leisure (Roger), I believed every word
he was saying, because as Esther I wanted to believe him. But when I was
watching the air show, later, I thought, You idiot! It's so obvious he's
lying."
WHY WE CLAPPED
Justin Deas loves to fill a big moment with a grand performance, and he
got plenty of opportunities when GUIDING LIGHT's Buzz had to say goodbye
to his son. Deas punctuated Buzz's quiet grief with sudden shouts and
vibrant gestures that showed Buzz was a bundle on barely-contained nerves.
Buzz got into Coop's face in a bid to bully him into fighting for his
life, while Deas literally hopped in place or lunged for Alan with a rock.
Buzz's grief was overwhelming, and Deas let it erupt out of him in ways
that seemed shocking and all too human. He definitely captured our
attention -- and Applause, Applause kudos for Issue 10.

NIGHTWATCH
--From Senior Writer/Editor Joe Diliberto: When Jonathan Jackson
(ex-Lucky, GENERAL HOSPITAL) returned to TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR
CHRONICLES as Kyle Reese this month, the appearance of the fan-favorite
character was hyped in teasers -- a development that did not please
executive producer Josh Friedman. "[Teasers] always disappoint me," he
sighs. "I wish no one could see anything [early]; I wish everyone just
showed up. I wish that 10 million people showed up every week and watched
the show, regardless of what was advertised during the week, but that's
just not reality. The reality is that our show is a bit ratings-challenged
-- or has been -- and [marketing] people want to do things to cut through
the noise, and I appreciate that. But what that usually translates to for
marketing people is spoilers. And people who know me, know that I'm just a
fascist about trying to control those things. It's hard to market a show
without showing significant events in the episode. It's hard to just tease
things. At some point you have to show stuff, and I don't ever want to
show anything. I write these 'Do Not Reveal' lists every week and send
them to the marketing people. Things that I allow for reveal are very
little, and the Do Not Reveal list is always long, and they call me up,
saying, 'How are we supposed to do a commercial?' Then we have to
negotiate. It's good that people know Kyle Reese was in the episode, but I
wish people were surprised that Kyle Reese was in the episode."
--Jason has to make his final decision between Melissa and Molly on the
season finale of THE BACHELOR, Monday at 8 p.m. Jason brings his son, Ty,
to New Zealand to meet the remaining two women -- who also get to meet his
family. But before Jason can make his choice, look for DeAnna Pappas, the
woman who broke his heart on THE BACHELORETTE, to drop by with advice for
the single dad. After Jason makes his choice, stick around for THE
BACHELOR: AFTER THE FINAL ROSE, when Jason and the final two women return.
Then, come back on Tuesday at 10 p.m. for THE BACHELOR: AFTER THE FINAL
ROSE: PART 2, for even more behind-the-scenes dish. --THE CELEBRITY
APPRENTICE kicks off Sunday night beginning 9 o'clock. The two-hour
episodes pit the men against the women to raise money for various
charities. --90210 moves back an hour, to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, as of March 3.
Repeats will air through March 24, then eight new episodes will air
consecutively from March 31 through May 19.
Prime Time Revolving Door
--Singer Taylor Swift will appear on CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION on
March 5 as a teenager whose parents own a motel that is the site of three
separate murder investigations. --Eriko Tamura (ex-Yeko, HEROES) will
recur on REAPER as Kristin, Sock's new stepsister, beginning with the
season premiere on March 3. All 13 episodes of the second season will air
consecutively through the season finale on May 26.
THE WE IN WEEKLY
--From Managing Editor Gabrielle Winkel: I always enjoy talking to OLTL's
John-Paul Lavoisier (Rex). He's funny, quotable and loves his job and the
fans. What's not to love about him? And he's about to tackle a super-heavy
storyline. (Be sure to check out upcoming issues of SOAP OPERA WEEKLY for
details.) As a result, he's renamed March Sweeps "March Weeps." Which I
kind of love, so I'm sharing.
--From News Editor Mala Bhattacharjee: I surprised my co-workers during
THE YOUNG AND RESTLESS this week, when I sent an e-mail observing, "Okay,
aside from the part where she's a multi-married tramp who dresses really
well, I AM Amber Moore." Suffice it to say, there were some disagreements
all around and one response asking if I'd remembered to eat lunch that
day. But seriously, the bubbly, hyperactive Amber running around printing
T-shirts to find Mrs. C just really reminded me of how I often zoom around
the office when I'm obsessed with a project. Tune in next week, when I
decide I'm just like GENERAL HOSPITAL's Jason except for the part where
I'm not a man, I don't own a gun, and I would rather be a doctor than a
mobster.
--From Editor Michael Karol: Now that ALL MY CHILDREN'S Amanda's pregnant,
isn't this the perfect time to bring back Amanda's mom, a.k.a. Janet From
Another Planet? After all, this is Janet's first grandchild, and it would
just be insane if she didn't meet him/her. And Janet's great with
children. Why, she was ever-so-helpful to Adam when he asked her to use
her mad parenting skills to kidnap Tad and Krystal's baby, Jenny. One can
only imagine how she'd square off with the equally devious Dr. David,
who's vowed to fight for custody of the unborn kid -- who happens to be
his. Amanda's in for a rough ride, and who better to protect her from
David than her famously loving, devious, murderous and totally wacko
mother?

The Suds Report: Feb. 27, 2009
Nelson Branco happens here
Tuc Watkins back on One Life! Joanna Johnson in talks with B&B! Screw
snow days: Y&R hits 4.0 again! GL loses viewers during Phillip week!
Is AMC's Greenlee alive? Youth Artist nominations announced! Daniel
Goddard Toronto-bound in May! Plus: Imaginary Conversations returns!
SUDSIEST QUOTES OF THE WEEK:
"It was never my intention to be on a soap opera for as long as I was.
That's not saying it's a negative thing, but when you think of soaps,
you think, `Oh, beautiful people,' and I never categorized myself that
way. I guess I just discounted the possibility of working on one."
—Rachel Melvin (The baby killer) discusses the reasons behind her Days
exit in Soap Opera Digest
Translation: When you think of soaps, you think, "oh, beautiful
people," who can't act.
"I think we've lost a little bit of the character with Nick and what
was attractive about him. I'm not quite sure who this guy is anymore.
Once it got into broads and babies, it all got a little confusing.
Nick's always loved Brooke deep down, but my joke on the set is to
say, `Hi, I'm Nick! Will you move in with me? Hi, I'm Nick! Will you
marry me?'"
—Jack Wagner (Nick, B&B) speaks out to Soaps In Depth regarding the
destruction of one my favourite characters.
Translation: That's why my gal pal, Heather Locklear keeps falling off
the wagon — she watches B&B.
EMMY COUNTDOWN

Who should win: One Life
Who will win: Duh — One Life, bitches!
Congrats to all the nominees; winners will be announced on Sunday,
March 29.
Meanwhile, the Suds Report is shocked that "it" writer, GH: Night
Shift's Sri Rao wasn't asked to present at the GLAAD Media Awards in
New York City on March 28 (he will be attending to represent soaps,
however). If the compromised awards show system couldn't find it to
nominate NS — which is not only written by the only out-and-proud head
writer in soaps, but also featured out actor Chad Allen in a sweet
adult love story — they could have at least invited Rao to hand out
some pink hardware.
All My Children, A/ABC — Project Pine Valley! Is Greenlee alive? Reese
is blind!
• Forward-thinking AMC is going outside the box when it comes to their
production module. Throughout the month of March, Pine Valley's women
will adorn clothes from the national retailer New York & Company. "The
versatility and style of their collection will not only enhance the
day to day fashions of our diverse cast of characters, but also afford
our audience the opportunity to find the fashions they see on All My
Children in the New York & Company stores throughout the country,"
explains executive producer Julie Hanan Carruthers. Select items will
be on sale through ABC.com, simply click on the "Shop" button then go
to the "Seen ON!" section of the AMC page. Too bad designers aren't
designing a new Ryan Lavery undergarment line.
I've always thought soaps could cut down on behind-the-scenes costs by
promoting up-and-coming talent à la Project Runway. Think about it.
• Is Greenlee alive? The rumour mill suggests so. Apparently David,
who was spotted at Rinks' wedding, saved his former sister-in-law's
life and is nursing her back to health in a secret location. Hmmm …
• Next week on AMC, Reese loses her eyesight after crashing into a
glass table! What was once a suspenseful and intriguing storyline has
now become a farce. After AMC's historic lesbian nuptials, Pratt has
officially jumped the shark. However, buzz is viewers can expect a
happy ending for Rianca when Eden Riegel returns to the series later
this spring.
As The World Turns, Global/CBS — Big casting happens here
• Snore: Alex Charak (Elwood) is out when his character is killed on
his way to a meeting with Luke and Noah. Don't look at me, I have a
concrete alibi. Then, on March 5, Lannon Killea will return as some
loser named Mark Vero.
• Don't blame "head writer" Jean Passanante for the schizophrenic
writing on this sudser. Executive producer Christopher Goutman is
writing long story, claim sources on the show. Yes, while I loved how
Goutman wrote the show during the writers' strike, he did have a
wealth of plot to work with thanks to Passanante's set-up with Emily
and Casey's popular May-December romance, the Carly/Holden/Lily
triangle and the Nuke kissing scandal.
• How much you want to bet that ATWT's Valentine Day episode was a
ploy to win the show's hair and make-up team some Emmys? The freaky
fairytales weren't designed to win the show a Best Writing Emmy,
that's for sure.
The Bold and the Beautiful, CTV/CBS — Is Joanna Johnson returning?
• Just what Ridge needs — another love interest! According to Soap
Opera Digest, Hope & Faith creator Joanna Johnson is said to be in
negotiations to return to B&B as Caroline's twin sister, Karen. As the
soap's original heroine, Johnson was so popular that several countries
re-named the serial after her character, Caroline. Her last comeback
as Karen was a total bust, so let's pray B&B knows what they are doing
this time around. Yeah, right.
• Don't say we didn't warn you: Rick and Steffy have sex this week.
Days of our Lives, Global/NBC — Is EJ the new Austin Reed?
• Alison Sweeney is back, soapers! And it's about time. This week,
Sami informs a shocked EJ that she loves Rafe, and not the dumb DiMera
spawn. Sami even kisses Rafe to prove her point. Somewhere Austin Reed
is smiling.
• Stop the presses: Lisa Rinna (ex-Billie) is posing for Playboy. I
can't wait to check out those engorged lips in their full glory ...
General Hospital, CTV/ABC — More Monavie scandalia!
• The Monavie scandal just gets juicier with each week. Last Friday, I
reported that Monavie managed to insert their clothing line into the
American Music Awards gift bags. Apparently, proceeds from the
clothing apparel will benefit The More Project. The Suds Report has
since learned Monavie runs the More Project. Click here to see to
learn more about this "tax haven" for Steve Burton's get-rich-fast scheme.
• In story news, Claudia and Sonny have sex before Sonny learns about
his wife's involvement in Michael's shooting.
Guiding Light, Global/CBS — Ratings don't happen here
• Poor GL can't catch a break. Grant Aleksander's highly trumpeted
return as Phillip cost the endangered soap 33 thousand viewers. D'oh!
Earlier that week, Aleksander's latest soap comeback was interrupted
by two news preemptions in the New York City market. Here are the
numbers from Feb 16-20 courtesy of Soap Opera Network. You'll also
notice that Y&R shot back to 4.0, while One Life gained 135 thousand
viewers during Vote With Your Remote month, and AMC's lesbian wedding
added a quarter of a million viewers to their tally. Next week will be
very telling, so stay tuned.
Total Viewers (versus last week/versus last year)
1. Y&R 5,457,000 (+399,000/-398,000)
2. B&B 3,573,000 (+41,000/-533,000)
3. DAYS 3,017,000 (+172,000/-198,000)
4. GH 2,801,000 (+59,000/-260,000)
5. AMC 2,729,000 (+228,000/-167,000)
6. ATWT 2,563,000 (-135,000/-779,000)
7. OLTL 2,560,000 (+135,000/-268,000)
8. GL 2,175,000 (-33,000/-633,000)
Household Ratings
1. Y&R 4.0/13 (+.3/-.2)
2. B&B 2.7/8 (+.1/-.3)
3. GH 2.2/7 (+.1/-.1)
4. DAYS 2.1/7 (+.1/-.3)
4. AMC 2.1/7 (+.2/-.1)
6. OLTL 2.0/6 (+.1/-.2)
6. ATWT 2.0/6 (same/-.4)
8. GL 1.7/5 (same/-.3)
• John Driscoll (ex-Coop) is one lucky bastard! According to Soap
Opera Digest, the actor booked a flight on US Airways Flight 1549,
which successfully landed in the Hudson River. Luckily, due to GL's
disorganization, Driscoll had to reschedule his trip down to
Charlotee, NC to visit his parents. Whew. As we all know, Coop wasn't
so lucky.
• Remember Nicole Forester (ex-Cassie)? Well, the hair model and her
hubby, Paul Brown welcomed their daughter, Frances Eleanor on Feb 11.
Congrats.
• With Kim Zimmer (Reva) about to face contract negotiations this
spring — good luck with that — Soap Opera Digest printed one of their
first interviews with the Emmy winner. The classic article was written
by one of my favourite Digest editors, Meredith Brown.
• The Four Musketeers are back, `80s style, when they celebrate their
high school reunion beginning on March 6. All of the actors look
fantastic, especially Krista Tesreau (Mindy).
• This is hilarious: After an argument in the Peapack snow — or,
depending on the camera angle, green grass — both Alan and Buzz both
suffer minor heart attacks! Poor Justin Deas and Ron Raines!
One Life to Live, A/ABC — Hurray — Tuc Watkins returns!
• Is the Deidre Hall (ex-Marlena, Days) effect beginning to affect the
other soaps? Rumours are picking up steam that ABC is letting six-time
Emmy Award winner Erika Slezak (Viki) go. ABC denies the story at
press time.
• That was fast. Exiting Spirit Award winner Tuc Watkins (David) is
back taping at One Life, reports set-side sources. David leaves the
canvas on March 2, but will return to reclaim what is rightfully his
for another slew of appearances. At press time, there's no word on how
long his latest visit will last. Hopefully, it's forever. I already
miss my Tuc.
• Expect Kamar De Los Reyes (Antonio) to return in the near future
after exiting the canvas for a "big event."
• 2009 is shaping up to be a great year for Llanview's latest vixen,
Crystal Hunt (Stacy). The former GL star announced she's engaged to
catch Phillippe Spiess, a cancer surgeon. The couple will wed on Sept. 5.
The Young and the Restless, Global/CBS — Goddard back in Toronto in May!
• Save the date: Daniel Goddard (Cane) will be in Toronto on May 9 for
another Canadian appearance. Keep tuning into The Suds Report for more
details as they are made available.
• Kate Linder (Esther) is booking more covers than the leading stars
on GL and ATWT! Once again, Linder graces this week's gorgeous Soaps
In Depth cover opposite Jeanne Cooper (Katherine) to promote Esther's
kidnapping.
• Former AMC vixen Stacy Haiduk has a character name: Mary Jane, which
gives new credence to the fact that Jabot's new PR rep is Mary Jo
Mason. Yep, Y&R is seemingly obsessed with turning AMC's DOA talent
into stars. Good work.
*HUMOUR: Inspired by SNL and Chelsea Lately
IMAGINARY CONVERSATIONS — With CBS' Barbara Bloom, ABC's Brian Frons
and Days' Ken Corday
In a secret location known only to the daytime elite, a scandalous
conversation takes place regarding their not-so classified agendas!
TVGuide.ca went undercover and bugged their romantic cabin meeting
spot. Here are the uncensored transcripts:
Brian Frons: Hey, Babs! Still trying to make me pay for firing you
from Port Charles?
Babs Bloom: Listen, Fronzie — at least my shows don't feature
rapemances, anti-climatic lesbian weddings and freakin' tornadoes.
BF: Not yet, you copycat! [bursts into laughter] Not sure how you can
defend Talk Soup favourite, The Bold and the Beautiful. Seriously,
would it kill you to pay for acting classes for Ronn Moss? But, how
are you — you big, stupid b----? I've missed you. [Sarcastically] We
need to have more face-to-face … well, without the face time. [Laughs]
I like it when my wife worries I'm having an affair! Naturally, she
hates Kelly Monaco and Rebecca Budig!
BB: [Laughs] Oh, Brian, dear … You're as charming as ever. But I still
have the number-one show on daytime — and the best head-writer in the
business. By the way, thanks for royally screwing over Ron Carlivati …
[they both look at each other and burst out into evil giggles].
[Starts pouring drinks] Spiked Monavie Juice anyone?
BF: Are you kidding? If I didn't drink the Jesus Juice each morning,
Steve Burton would fire me!
BB: Where the hell is that silver spoon baby, Mr. Trust Fund, Ken
Corday anyway?
BF: Late as usual. Ken had to finish his latest golf game with Josh
Taylor.
Ken Corday: [Bursts in with Molly Burnett] Hey dudes! Like, I totally
love meeting secretly in this totally rad cabin. Sorry, I'm late, men.
We landed hours ago, but my palace in the sky is so like totally
fierce that I couldn't bear to leave it. Also, I wasn't finished
teaching Molly how to read.
BF: Did you buy your new jet with the money you saved firing Drake and
Dee? By the way, thanks for the idea — boy, was Susan Lucci ever
shocked when we made her pay us to act!
KC: Getting rid of those old fogies was the smartest thing I ever did!
Now I'm flying Tom Cruise style.
BB: Smart. [Shrugs] I had to take public transport to get here.
Ken Corday: [Turns to Molly] Where are my manners? I'd like to
introduce you to the actress who saved Days, everyone meet the divine
Molly Burnett — future Emmy winner.
Babs and Ken: [Both look at each other and burst into hysterical laughter]
BB: Oh, Ken Doll! It didn't work with Kristen Renton — and it's not
going to work with this hair model. At Y&R, the number-one show on
daytime and Sony's saving grace, we fired Erin Sanders when we
realized she couldn't act. We, at CBS, the number-one network, listen
to our fans. [Bursts into evil giggles]
KC: Darling, we all know you have no power nor jurisdiction over Y&R
[Laughs]. Heck, these days, Lynn Marie Latham has more influence over
there than you ever will.
BF: He's got you there, Babsies! Hey, did you wash your hair this
week? Looks good.
BB: Listen, assholes — we're here to discuss how we're going to
destroy our shows in '09. Let's do something different this year! I'm
getting bored of dismantling history and firing the vets. Let's start
shooting the fans instead! Having said that, killing off key vets like
James E. Reilly was a totally smart move on our parts.
KC: Don't pin that idea on me, bitch. I have an alibi: I was busy
trying for a hole in one! One day, I will do it.
BB: Is that what they're calling it these days?
BF: We didn't touch Eileen Herlie, I swear to god! Her death was
totally coincidental, honest.
BB: Who? Was she on Port Charles — the show I head wrote and was
unfairly fired from? Airing ATWT and GL three minutes each day is
going help us move on to prime time and film. I can just tell, guys!
No one will make fun of us ever again for working in soaps. My time is
coming, I can just feel it.
BF: Who needs prime time when you have the greatest show on the
planet, The View? We're thinking of casting Elisabeth Hasselbeck as
the new Greenlee on AMC! What do you think?
BB: Oh, yeah — that'll go over well. Was she on Port Charles once?
BF: No, that was that heffer, Starr Jones.
BB: Oh, right. I guess I blocked that out when you bastards fired me!
But who's laughing all the way to the bank now, fools? Hey, Fronzie —
you never thanked me for my Andrea Evans' comeback story. She'll never
be back on OLTL. [Both burst into laughter]
KC: Anything to piss Nelson Branco off. Now, listen — are you paying
SOD to run Eric Braeden on your cover all the time? Jesus…
BB: Of course, you idiot! By the way, nice move on leaking the Hall
and Hogestyn firings to Digest "exclusively." Anything to piss off
those annoying bloggers.
BF: Luckily, Digest and Weekly run my shows on their covers without me
having to pay them. ABC rocks, `yo!
Ken and Babs: [Roll their eyes] NOT FOR LONG!
BF: [Evil laugh] My plan to dismantle SoapNet is almost a reality.
Being Erica is my new crown jewel. We paid five dollars for the
series. Love those Canadians — well, except for you-know-who.
KC: I wish Dena's atrocious writing would scare away more fans. I'm so
sick of this work thing. It interferes with my facials, and I don't
mean the ones you get at a spa!
BB: Tell me about it. Those damn Nuke fans are keeping ATWT alive.
Damn those gays! Ronald Regan really should have gotten rid of them
when he had the chance. Especially that ringleader Roger Newcomb …
BF: Do you need me to take care of him?
KC: No, Lynn Leahey is taking care of that pest.
To be continued…
