When Nick tells her about his new designer, Katie decides to have a

The minister arrives with two uninvited guests who threaten to halt

AFTRA Salutes Y&R's Jeanne Cooper
YOUNG AND RESTLESS's Jeanne Cooper (Katherine) will be honored by the
American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) this year
with their Media and Entertainment Excellence award. The class of 2009
also includes recording artist Smokey Robinson, broadcaster Vin Scully
and late voiceover artist Don LaFontaine. The event will be celebrated
on March 9 in Los Angeles. Congratulations Jeanne.

Big GL News!
More great news for GL fans! Hot on the heels of the can't-miss
comeback of Grant Aleksander (Be sure to tune in on Monday!) will be
Krista Tesreau, who joined GL as Mindy in 1983. This will be a real
treat for longtime viewers: Tesreau, Aleksander and Michael O'Leary
(Rick) were three of the GL's popular Four Musketeers (Beth Chamberlin
rounds out the crew as recast Beth; Judi Evans originated the role).
Look for her to first air in early March.


Daytime Emmy Update
Though there's nothing to mark on your calendars yet, an well-placed
insider involved with the Daytime Emmys says, "I'm assured there will
be a telecast. Lots of work has been going on in the background by
good people to make this happen. There will be a show."

To protect his son, Buzz locks Coop into Marina and Mallet's basement.

Buzz receives a vision from Jenna, Coop's mother.

She tells Buzz that Coop loves Beth and should fight for his happiness.

Buzz decides to let Coop go after Beth, offering his car to aid his son.

As he goes off to stop the wedding, Coop has visions of Jenna.

Frank and Buzz wait at Company for Coop to return with Beth.

Coop calls Beth from the car.

Alan answers Beth's phone, telling Coop that he's too late.

Beth overhears Alan and announces she's leaving.

Alan's announcement upsets Coop who loses control of his car.

Back at Company, Buzz and Frank raise a toast to Coop at the time of
the crash, unaware of what has happened.

Coop is barely conscious when we see someone pull him out of the wreckage.

We learn that Coop was taken to the hospital by Phillip!

Marina and Mallet arrive at the crash site and call Buzz.

Marina and Mallet learn Coop was driving Buzz's car. Mallet tells
Frank that Coop is not in the car.

Looking at Coop's cell phone shows that the last call he received was
from Alan.

Buzz and Frank rush to looking for Coop.

Buzz finds an unconscious Coop.

Amid all of this chaos, Bill crashes the wedding, thinking Cyrus
kidnapped Lizzie.

Bill tells Lizzie that he did not kidnap her but he knows who did.

Trying to avoid a scene - and learn the truth - Lizzie leaves the
church where Bill kisses her.

Before the ceremony, Rick asks Beth if she knows what she is doing.

Alan and Beth's wedding begins and the church doors slams shut.

Phillip is standing at the other end of the aisle!

Upon seeing Phillip, Beth faints.

Phillip rushes forward once Beth faints.

We see blood on Beth and Phillip announces that there has been an
accident.

When Phillip reveals Coop was in the accident, Beth runs out of the
chapel.

Phillip takes Alan to his grave and pulls a gun on him!

At Cedar's, Coop sees Beth and she pleads with him to hold on.

Beth tells Coop she didn't marry Alan.

Will Coop be able to survive?

Best friends Phillip and Rick make up for lost time.

Coop tells Buzz who saved him and Beth runs out.

Enraged by his role in the accident, Buzz tries to run down Alan.

Phillip returns to the Spaulding Mansion and sees Beth.

Beth tells Phillip that he's a grandfather.

Beth fills Phillip in on all that he has missed being away.

Lizzie learns of Coop's accident.

Learning her ex-husband has returned, Olivia is consumed by her fear
of Phillip.

Shayne confides in Dinah.

Dinah tries again to warn Shayne about Edmund.

Springfield learns of Coop's accident.

Reva calls Shayne to see how he is doing.

Dinah tells Josh and Reva today is Lara's birthday.

Shayne and his family have an impromptu birthday - without Edmund.

The family hears Shayne talk about Lara's last birthday celebration.

Dinah learns Jeffrey has Roc Cartwright following Edmund.

Spoilers for down the road: 2009 preview

Grant Aleksander rejoins the cast as Phillip Spaulding on February
6th. David Andrew MacDonald returns as the Prince of Darkness - Edmund
Winslow on January 22, 2009. Both returns will have huge impacts on
Springfield.

Edmund's return will mean big changes for Reva, Josh, Jeffrey, Shayne
and Dinah - all of those who he feels have wronged him (or are related
to them). With Cassie gone to Hawaii, Edmund's focus is on those who
he feels let her move on without him.

Phillip's return (during a wedding, TPTB reveal) will certainly have
impact on the Spauldings - Lizzie, Beth and Alan, the Coopers,
ex-wives Blake and Olivia and BFF Rick. But which Phillip will be
returning? He has something up his sleeve (like Edmund) but we won't
know what all they are up to for awhile - which is a good thing.

Phillip and Alan square off both with Alan's shooting of him and his
relationship with Beth. Phillip's return happens at a key point in the
Coop/Beth/Alan romance. But who will Beth end up with? Beth will share
airtime with her other ex-husband (Edmund) as well.

Phillip and Reva will connect now that they share a grandchild (baby
Sarah). In the meantime, Reva's big goal is to give birth to a
healthy, happy son. Jeffrey and Reva butt heads over her ideas, but
Jeffrey does all he can to protect Reva and his son. Reva and Jeffrey
will have great scenes with child birthing classes and a huge baby
shower. TPTB do promise that despite some close calls, Reva will give
birth to a healthy son.

Beth and Coop's relationship comes out into the open - which will
bring out a lot of drama for many of Springfield's citizens. With the
return of Phillip, and the anger of Alan, can their relationship
survive? When Alan learns the truth, he issues Beth an ultimatum which
affects many in Springfield.

Shayne has a lot of emotional baggage to unload before he move on -
but look for his relationship with Dinah to be a good move for both
people with bad luck in love.

Phillip owes Blake an apology for his part in Ross's death. Will Blake
ever forgive her ex?

With Ava out of Springfield, Remy will grow closer to Christina. He
really wants to help her with the goal to become a doctor. She'll be
tempted with some dangerous choices, but Remy will use his experience
to try to get her back on track.

Phillip's return means more challenges for Rick - and hopefully more
airtime! Rick and Olivia's bond over their heart transplants will
continue to flourish. Natalia and Frank grow a little closer, finally,
and Natalia does something for Frank when he needs a favor the most.

Last year gave Lizzie and Bill a number of tests to their
relationship, which will continue. After all of her problems with men
and relationships, Lizzie wants to take a break from love for awhile,
leaving Bill to have to work hard to keep her love alive. But GL's
writers state that this couple will have happiness in the new year.

Bill's parents have their hands full with Bill and Dinah. Billy still
thinks of getting back with Vanessa, once things settle down a bit.

Phillip's Aunt Alex will see more air time and fans will see how all
of the family struggles have affected her.

Dinah and Grady's schemes are over, but their secrets keep the
connection strong. Both will pay in some way for Lizzie's kidnapping .

Frank and Natalia finally take a chance on romance in 2009. And Rafe
will be released from prison.

Mallet and Marina try to adopt in the new year.

There's a lot of brouhaha going on at the car pound. The upshot turns
out that Eliza has gone missing. Will Paul use his psychic powers to

At the same time, the Metro's profits are in the dumper. Carly and
Henry brainstorm as to what they can do to make the club profitable

While over at Katie and Brad's it looks like another case of the
female tricking the male into making a baby. Will Katie's plan work,

Ron Raines (Alan, Guiding Light)First and foremost, he's back! Yup, we
are of course referring to none other than Phillip, who appears
seemingly from out of nowhere. How will his first actions back in
Springfield save the life of one of the town's other denizen? More
importantly, who escapes near death thanks to Phil?

Meanwhile, it's Alan and Beth's wedding day. Will the nuptials go off
as planned, or will Beth's dalliances with Coop blow up in her face
before Alan gets to say "I do?" All we can say is that Alan knows more
than he is letting on, not to mention the fact that Coop is heck bent
on stopping the wedding. Will he get there in time?

Shortly thereafter, Bill now has a good idea as to who the kidnapper
really is. What clues him in? Is he on the money, or totally off base?

At the same time, Dinah tries to warn Shayne about dealing with
Edmund. Shayne admits that he actually enjoys talking with Edmund.
Little does Dinah know. Will Shayne get Dinah to leave before Edmund
shows up? Finally, the week winds down on a bittersweet note as Shayne
shares with Reva and Josh the details of Lara's last birthday while a
bereft Edmund looks in on them from outside. Why wasn't Edmund

Don Diamont (Brad, Young and the Restless)Ah yes, it's a sad week in
Genoa City, now that Brad has left this earth for greener pastures. As
you can imagine, Colleen is taking it especially hard. In fact, after
Brad's funeral, Colleen is pushed to her breaking point thanks to
Victor. She takes things to the next level when she confronts him. In
an attempt to ameliorate the situation, Ashley sets up and tells
Victor to leave. Does he take Ashley's advice?

Speaking of Ashley, she gets a major jolt when when Jill appoints
Billy to CEO of Jabot. But Ashley is not the only one who is
surprised. Just about everyone is floored. Will Victor's plan be exposed?

While on the other side of Genoa City, Kay wins a battle, but will she
win the war? Keep your eyes peeled on the Young and the Restless this
week to find out.

THIS WEEK ON: AS THE WORLD TURNS

Carly and Henry get together to go over the books for Metro when they
discover they need to come up with an idea to get more money into
Metro. Craig, who arrives puts his two cents in by telling the
business partners that they need to focus on the big picture in order
to make the bar profitable. Craig soon pitches the idea of creating a
label for vodka; as long as he's running the business side of things
while Carly focuses on handling the creativity portion. Brad is
hesitant in trying again with Katie to have a baby. Unbeknownst to
him, Katie is no longer on birth control. During a double date with
Henry and Vienna, Katie confesses what she did to Vienna, prompting
Vienna to trick Henry into getting her pregnant. Later that night she
punches holes in a condom and is about to work on another when Henry
walks in.

The Inside Story: Drunken Hook-Up Matt lands a job at Yo's bartending
and decides to invite Casey and Alison to show up. Realizing that
Alison isn going he quickly backs out until Jade convinces him to go.
When they arrive, Casey finds himself walking into his surprise
birthday party Feeling in the celebrating mood, Casey downs a few
drinks. Unfortunately for him his alcohol consumption prompts him to
be nasty toward Alison. When Elwood arrives making lewd comments to
Alison about her past, Casey decks him. Jade quickly takes charge by
whisking Casey out of his party and back to his place. Back at Yo's
their friend Reg collapses. When he's rushed to the hospital he is
soon pronounced dead from a drug overdose. Luke later discovers drugs
in Reg's jacket and quickly points the finger at Elwood. When Luke
grabs Elwood demanding answers, Meanwhile, Matt, who can tell that
Alison is upset about Casey advises her to make amends. She agrees to
make peace and heads over to the Hughes house. When she gets there,
she gets an eyeful of Jade and Casey having sex on the couch.

A Closer Look: Catch Me If You Can
Dusty, upon discovering that Josie's car has been impounded in New
York, makes plans to head there to confront Paul and get Eliza back.
Unfortunately Meg gets the news from a phone call from Paul that Eliza
is missing. A fearful Meg tells Dusty not to get involved. Once she is
gone, Dusty gets his jet and takes off for New York, not knowing that
Meg also has ideas of heading there to get her baby. Everyone soon are
in New York trying to find the car thief that has Eliza. Meg and Josie
try to get Paul to see if he has a vision of where Eliza could be and
when he mentions seeing an animal clock, Dusty realizes that Paul is
talking about the Central Park Children's Zoo. When they arrive they
spot a couple that was in Paul's vision standing there. Paul diverts
the couple while Dusty and Meg take their place. When the thief
arrives Dusty pays him a down payment and the guy tells Dusty and Meg
that he will hand over the baby. When the thief meets up with his
partner he tells him that they should give the baby to someone else
because he doesn't trust Dusty. When Josie shows up they grab her and
take her with them. At the zoo Dusty realize that the thug has gone
back on his word and everyone begins to search for where he could be.
They are back in Brooklyn and soon find the thug's location. Meg hears
the cries of Eliza and when the thugs spot everyone outside, Dusty and
Paul go into fight mode. Meg gets Eliza back as the cops arrive ton
not only cart off the thugs but Paul as well.

THIS WEEK ON: THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

Jill could be the thorn in a smitten Esther's side on Wednesday,
February 11, when Roger tries to convince Esther to run away and elope
with him. Sharon and Nick discuss Phyllis' 'sudden' change in attitude.

The Inside Story: A Chaotic Farewell
Colleen and Abby are still dealing with the ramifications of learning
that their father, Brad has died after saving Noah's life. Abby lashes
out at Eden, placing the blame on her for coaxing Noah into going ice
skating on the frozen but fragile ice. Billy, with Lily's help tries
his best to be there for both ladies. Brad's daughters, however,
aren't the only ones that are feeling the effects of Brad's death.
Sharon breaks down, remembering her last words with Brad that fateful
night. Noah is also wrecked with guilt because his actions with Eden
led to Brad's un-timely demise.Traci, hearing about Brad's death,
returns home to be there to say her farewells, as well as being there
for Colleen. Things however, take a nasty turn when all attend the
funeral. When Victor approaches Abby on wanting to give her money to
use towards a charity in Brad's name, Colleen overhearing the
conversation flips out and lashes out in front of everyone about how
nasty and cold he's always been toward Brad. Witnessing the outburst
Ashley and Victoria both take Victor aside and tell him for the sake
of Colleen and everyone else who are their to pay their repects, he
should depart.

A Closer Look: Change in Command
Victor sets Jack's radar off when Jack spots Victor being chummy with
Billy. Later that day, Jill stuns everyone when she names Billy as the
new CEO of Jabot Cosmetics, which Cane can't believe. Ashley suddenly
has some reservations when she discusses with Jack and Billy on their
roles at Jabot. Back at Newman Enterprises, Victor talks to a mystery
woman and informs her that he has some very intriguing plans for her.

Soaps.com: Here's a big question - are you hoping that Sharon will
get back together with Nick?

Sharon: Oh, yes! One day, yes. Absolutely! I think that's what this is
all about, you know; Sharon moving on with Jack, and Phyllis, and I
think it's all about them finding their way back to each other after
what happened to them.

Soaps.com: Would you like to see them have another child together?

Sharon: Absolutely!

Soaps.com: Can you give us any hints about what's to come?

Sharon: Well, Sharon starts having a really hard time in life, with
all the bad things that are going to start happening. Her reaction to
things? She does a lot of really crazy things coming up in the future.
She has a lot of fights with people - you see a really different side
to Sharon coming around the corner.

Soaps.com: That sounds exciting. It's interesting because everyone is
expecting that Phyllis will be the one going off the deep end!

Sharon: Yes! That's a good way of putting it - Sharon does go off the
deep end!

Soaps.com: Back on the topic of Sharon and Nick's children, how are
you enjoying working with Kevin Schmidt as Noah?

Sharon: Oh, he's such a great boy! I love him - he's so sweet, and
polite, and talented - cute!

Soaps.com: He's giving you problems on the show though!

Sharon: Yeah! But I really like it. I think Joshua [Morrow, Nick] and
I are both really happy with the storyline, and with him as an actor,
and him as a person - it's really just a fit. It fit like he's been
here for a million years. It doesn't feel like we just met him. From
the first day he was here, I felt like he's always played Noah, and
I've known him my whole life.

Soaps.com: What do you think of the way Sharon has been handling the
parenting challenges?

Sharon: Well, I think Sharon's a good parent. I don't think she's
doing anything different with Noah than you do in real life, or that
my parents did with me. There are different ways of parenting, and
they are trying to show in the storyline that Phyllis has the more
lenient way of parenting, and Sharon is more conservative.

Soaps.com: Many viewers miss Sharon's friendship with Drucilla. Would
you like to have that again on the show, either by having Dru return,
or with a different character?

Sharon: Oh, yeah! Sharon doesn't have any friends - Dru was the only
friend she had! I liked working with her [Victoria Rowell] a lot -
that was a blast - it was fun to have a 'friend', but at the same
time, when I was playing Drucilla's friend, I didn't really have my
own storyline at the time. I was playing a supporting role to her
during that time...I really didn't have that much to do. It's actually
very difficult! You'd think that being a supporting player would be
easier than playing a lead, but that is not true at all. When you're
playing the lead, things are happening to you constantly, so it's easy
to play those things out, but when you're supporting somebody else,
nothing is happening to you - you're just standing there! [laughs]
You're having to stand there and listen, and be supportive, and really
care - about something that has nothing to do with you! In real life,
when you support your friends, that's not difficult to do, you feel
empathy for them. But when you're on stage - well, that's tough to do

TALES FROM THE INTERVIEW

STEPHANIE SLOANE: I caught up with DAYS's James Scott (EJ) and Arianne
Zucker (Nicole) by phone for a joint interview about their characters'
relationship for our special Valentine's Day issue. I tend to giggle a lot
during chats with Scott because he is really very funny and says a lot of
things that I could never print. As for Zucker, she's always fun and
upbeat and it's almost like you can feel her smiling through the phone.
Because they both have a comedic side, I asked if they tend to be silly on
set. "I haven't had a chance," Zucker told me. "The scenes are so
emotional. We don't have time to be funny. But we had some laughs today.
We used to have tons of laughter beforehand in the makeup room early in
the morning and get it out beforehand and then just get right to work on
set." Added Scott, "We have fun. If you are stressed or anxious or not
able to throw things away and concentrate on your work, you don't do good

TOM STACY: Much like their GENERAL HOSPITAL counterparts, Kirsten Storms
(Maxie) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) click just as much in real life
as they do on-screen. Catch this cute exchange that didn't make it into
their Digest feature.

Digest: What's the worst pickup line someone has used on you?
Anderson: You assume someone tried to pick me up [laughs]?
Storms: I've been out with my sister and guys will ask her how old she is
and she'll say 21 and they'll ask me if I'm 28 or 29. Making me five years
older than I am is usually not a good pickup line for me. I get asked how
much I weigh a lot too. Anderson [laughs]: Maybe it's supposed to be a
compliment? Storms: It's not. Anderson: Anytime I go out, since I've been
21, I feel out of place, like I shouldn't be there because I generally
look younger than my age, and maybe I've never carried myself with enough
confidence in those situations for someone to approach me. I grew a goatee
over the holidays and I was just so thrilled to find I had a chin. [Storms
laughs] It was great!

Nick/Phyllis affair. Joshua: It's so off the wall that I never thought it
would work but the fans really took to it. Michelle: Let me ask you, when
did you think that the Nick/Phyllis relationship works? Or have you?
Joshua: When I thought it was going to work was when you were at the
computer in Victor's office and I was leaning over your shoulder. You
turned around and looked at me, like Phyllis was digging Nick. I didn't
see it then but when I saw that scene on air, I went, "Wow, There is
something there."

You gotta love soap fans' creativity -- Digest regularly receives doodads
and goodies from readers who know how to make a statement.

STEPHANIE SLOANE: Well, the DAYS fans are certainly not helping me keep my
girlish figure this Valentine's Day, but I'm not complaining! The Dirty
Martini crew sent personalized M&Ms as a thank you for the James Scott
(EJ) and Arianne Zucker (Nicole) interview mentioned above. The messages
on the candy are: EJ & NICOLE, EJOLE IS HOT, EJOLE R A MATCH and LOVABLE
EJOLE and they come in pretty pink, purple and aqua colors. Not to be
outdone, the Steve and Kayla fans sent me a chocolate heart box with
Fannie May candy and a stuffed animal dog. The message says, "Sad Sam is
sad because Steve & Kayla haven't had a storyline in months. So, he/we
fans thought if we add a little 'sweetness,' we might get DOOL to hear us
fans. Make Sam happy and the Steve & Kayla fans, too." I am now sad that
Sad Sam is going to stay sad since the departures of Stephen Nichols and
Mary Beth Evans have been announced. Finally, the EJami fans from the Sony
Board fans sent the board game Clue, with the message, "EJami fans all
over the world, with their unwavering enthusiasm, support their
spellbinding supercouple! They have played their own special version of
Clue to see what kind of results they will find. The solutions: EJ in the
abandoned house, with his DiMera legacy, steals Sami's heart and Samantha,
in the abandoned house, with her Brady spirit, captures EJ's soul!"

LEEANN CANNON: DAYS's campaigners were also rooting for Stephanie and
Philip with the message, "Living in the Moment."

AMC supporters showed their love for Bianca and Reese with bags of Hershey
Kisses to "celebrate all the 'kiss moments' " between the duo. Zendall
fans were elated that Kendall finally woke up from her coma. They sent
lots of cards proclaiming: "The Magic is Back!"

Luke and Noah fans are psyched the couple finally made love and said, "Way
to go AS THE WORLD TURNS! Thanks for the Lovin' " Fans of the show are
also rooting for Paul and Meg to get back together, as well as for more
airtime for Tom and Margo.

GH campaigners held this week's record for the most postcards sent in for
two different couples: Sam and Jason, and Elizabeth and Jason. JaSam fans
announced that "J&S are back in black!" while the Liason crew urges GH to
"Monopolize on a Winning Couple" and to reunite the pair. There were also
lollipops sent in for LuSam -- Lucky and Sam -- dubbing the pair "The Cop
and The Con."

story, but to cheer the pairing of BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL's Rick and Steffy is

IN PERSON

This was my 42nd birthday and my husband agreed to take me to my first
ever fan event. I was a little nervous about meeting Steve [Burton; Jason,
GH] and Becky [Herbst; Elizabeth, GH] but once I started to mingle with
the other Liason fans I felt at ease. Steve and Becky came in the room
with everyone cheering as Steve picked up Becky in his arms. From that
first moment on you could tell that they have a kindred friendship. This
was shown throughout the next four hours. Everyone had the opportunity to
have their picture taken with Steve and Becky. Of course they never
complained and took their time with everyone. I must say that these two
actors are so talented. But you cannot appreciate them until you meet them
in person. Steve is so good looking with the bluest eyes, hilarious, down
to earth and sincere. Becky is so beautiful, sincere, calm and angelic.
This was a birthday that I will cherish forever -- not just for meeting
Steve and Becky, butfor the many Liason fans who share the same passion:

WHY WE CLAPPED

When confronted with the reality of Lara's death, GUIDING LIGHT's Jeff
Branson proved that wounded Shayne's biggest pain is in his heart. Sure,
the sarcastic, bitter Shayne that fans have come to know was still there
in his encounter with Jeffrey and argument with Dinah, but Branson
injected touching humanity into Shayne's low-key suffering at the memorial
service. And his recognition that someone else -- Dinah -- was also
suffering was a huge step forward for the character, earning Branson
Applause, Applause kudos for Issue 7.

NIGHTWATCH
--From Senior Writer/Editor Joe Diliberto: What's an avid TV viewer like
me supposed to do on Monday nights? Now that HEROES is back (and,
apparently, back at the top of its game), the 9 o'clock hour is a
embarrassment of riches: HEROES, 24 and ONE TREE HILL all deserve to be
seen live. And THE BACHELOR needs to be checked on every now and again.
Thank the-powers-that-be at Fox for moving former 8 o'clock tenant
TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES to Fridays, but now HOUSE has
moved into the neighborhood! I can tape some stuff, but when do I watch
it? Why do all these great shows have to be on the same night, let alone
at the same time?

--The Jonas Brothers serve as hosts for the Tuesday night lineup on The
CW. Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas will pop up during commercial breaks in
90210 and PRIVILEGED with sneak peeks at their new movie, Jonas Brothers:
The 3D Concert Experience, which bows in theaters Feb. 27. The boys will
be joined by Jessica Lowndes (Adrianna, 90210), and show a clip of the
band performing the single Tonight. --MTV's unscripted MAKING THE BAND 4
premieres on Feb. 12 at 9 p.m. and continues to trace the drama around
Danity Kane, Day 26 and Donnie Klang.

THE WE IN WEEKLY

--From Senior Writer/Editor Joe Diliberto: Nice to see that AMC's Opal
didn't go overboard staging the fake tarot "reading" for Greenlee's
benefit. She set the Ace of Pentacles as the outcome, which is certainly
quite positive, but the way Opal was claiming the world is Greenlee's
oyster, "shucked and fried," I expected to see the Wheel of Fortune or The
Sun (or even both!). Those would have really bolstered Opal's case by
indicating triumph over all odds, success, health and wealth. Perhaps she
realized that Greens was a bit savvy about the cards, so Opal didn't want
to overplay her hand (so to speak) and merely backed up her
hearts-and-flowers prognostication. And Opal was right to junk the cards
afterward; she would never be able to cleanse the deck of the negative
energy from so massive a lie (although she probably should have burned all
78 cards).

--From News Editor Mala Bhattacharjee: The soaps afforded me a "couple" of
surprises this week when ATWT's Matt and Alison kissed, and so did GH's
Johnny and Maxie. So much so that I had to gush about them in my blog,

hardly knew ye), being able to flail one's limbs over a fresh new pairing
is a refreshing feeling. Sure, I seriously doubt Matt and Ali and Johnny
and Maxie are going anywhere, but I'm hanging on to the momentary high for
as long as I can.

--From Senior Editor Gabrielle Winkel: Oh, dear me. Just caught B&B, where
we got to see Bridget masquerading as a third-rate mix of Coco Chanel and
Anna Wintour. (One wonders if that wig was borrowed from OLTL's Renee?)
B&B is my afternoon break soap, and I adore it, but Bridget's charade --
pronounce that with a French accent, s'il vous plait -- is a little, how
you say?, too much. Fortunately, Nick did recognize the woman he was
married to behind those Foster Grants. Thanks for the chuckle, B&B. But I
don't think that was the intent, was it? Then, on the total other side of
the spectrum -- acting-wise, dialogue-wise, story-wise -- I just finished
watching the Feb. 5 (Thursday) episode of OLTL. All the A-listers were at
the top of their game: Melissa Archer and Bree Williamson as the battling
Natalie and Jessica, Trevor St. John as a repentant Todd and Hillary B.
Smith as the impassioned DA, Nora. I didn't check the clock once during
that hour. If you missed it, try to catch it on SOAPnet over the weekend.
