talk, she tries to persuade him to take Luke back. Jade soon appears

Lucinda to do her bidding. He tells Jade that there is nothing more
between him and Luke. Casey in the meantime is trying to talk to Luke
about making up with Noah and it is at Old Town where Luke pours his
heart out to Noah. Noah moved by what Luke has said pulls him into a
kiss. Luke and Noah head home and share ice cream with Lucinda who
soon makes peace with her grandson. The next day at Worldwide Lucinda
is burning Brian's belongings when he shows up. He once again pleads
with her to help him find closure but she rebuffs him. Crushed by her
rejection Brian heads to Java where he encounters Noah. There he asks
Noah into convincing him to get Luke to speak to him. Noah tells
Brian he will do no such thing but also points out that he and Luke
are together again. Although pleased that things worked out for them
Brian leaves and heads back to the Lakeview. Worried that Brian might
hurt himself he follows him but Brian refuses to let him in. Noah
calls Luke who comes to the Lakeview. They immediately begin to think
that Brian is thinking suicide but Brian refutes the claim. As he's
admitting that he is in fact gay, Lucinda arrives and the two finally
talk.
Janet questions Liberty about her and Parker. Liberty tells her that
she and Parker are seeing one another, to which Jack instantly puts
his foot down on. Jack's not only surprised that Janet is allowing it
but that Carly agrees with her. Jack soon starts to worry that Carly
is too close to Craig. Meanwhile, Lily tries to explain why she
didn't want Holden helping her by lending her money for Metro. Back
at the house Parker and Liberty are alone in his bedroom and the two
begin to make love when Jack barges in. Embarrassed at being caught,
Liberty flees out of the house and an upset Parker takes off after
her. Jack finds Carly with Lily having lunch and begins to place the
blame not only on her but Janet for allowing the teens to see one
another. Carly surprises herself when she tells Jack that she agrees
with Janet that the kids have to be trusted enough to be responsible.

Dear Readers,
Prepare for some farewells in the coming weeks. The biggest, of

the
worst of it for Krystal -- check out Late-Breaking News for more.

the column Genie Francis's character wrote in the 2007 tearjerker THE
NOTE. I had no idea at the time that we would be discussing a 30-
chapter
book aimed at helping women overcome heartbreak. I was impressed, but
0;even more so when an advanced copy hit my desk this past November,
the
very same week that my best friend admitted to me a heartbreaking
truth:
Her co-workers often find her crying in her cubicle over her semi-
recent
breakup. So I decided to use her as the ultimate prep for my December
interview with Hickland and put her on The 30-Day Heartbreak Cure,
which
is now in stores and available at Amazon.com. She loved it, although
she
did suffer a setback that the author herself offered to help my friend
through! The latest interview, conducted exactly one year after the
first,
is called "How to Heal" but not for the reason you think. Hickland
doesn't
babble on and on trying to get you to buy this book (but I will -- if
your
heartbroken friend is lost, this book will change her life and yours).
Instead, she talks about her latest mission, healing through
hypnosis, as
well as a few other exhaustive endeavors she's taken on. This woman
never
ceases to impress me; I can't wait to see what she's up to next year!
(Oh,
yeah, and she's still on recurring status with OLTL, so don't worry --
you'll see her again this year.)
NAOMI RABINOWITZ: I truly enjoyed speaking with Billy Miller (Billy,
Y&R)
for my feature on him in the 1/20 issue. For one thing, Miller is
always
on time for interviews, and in this case, was even a little early.
Believe
me, in our fast-paced business, respecting our deadlines is much
appreciated. I also like chatting with him because he's not only
funny and
quotable, but always manages to share something unexpected.
During our latest talk, I was surprised to learn that before becoming
an
actor he overcame a potentially debilitating bone disorder and then
developed his own bar building company when he was just a teen. "I
can be
a bit of an ass sometimes and will do what I can to push myself," he
joked.
However, he's clearly a hard worker. Though he received positive
reviews
while playing AMC's evil Richie and is quickly gaining popularity as
Billy, "I'm still brand new to soaps," he clarifies. "This may be my
second show, but a lot of it was luck. There are some great actors on
Y&R
and there were great actors on ALL MY CHILDREN, too. I'm just trying
to
sit back and learn from them. I take classes ... I never expected to
just
come in and be this perfect actor."
That said, he's fit right in with the Abbotts on Y&R -- for which he
gives
a lot of the credit to TV brother Peter Bergman (Jack). "Peter's
really
been there for me," he praises. "The guy knows everything about the
show,
so if I have any questions about my character or past storylines, he
always helps me out. I'm really glad I ended up being a part of this
family that has all of this history."

CAMPAIGN TRAIL
You gotta love soap fans' creativity -- Digest regularly receives
doodads
and goodies from readers who know how to make a statement.
Elaine G. Flores: Hello, fans! Happy New Year! This week you ushered
in
2009 with a variety of brand new additions to the trail.
GH enthusiasts sent the highest volume of mail and also came up with
the
most unusual ideas this week. For starters, fans of Jason (Steve
Burton)
and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) mailed in real "For Sale" signs to
support
the Second Annual Liason Event, which will be held on January 24 at
the
Palazzo Hotel in Las Vegas. "I am so excited to meet Steve and Becky.
They
have such amazing talent and chemistry. I'm traveling from Florida,"
wrote
Heather. I hear that though tickets are going fast, there are still
some
available. For more information, visit

1tA.DeMEcX00. (This is all happening right around my birthday, so I
think
my boss Lynn should stick a couple of plane tickets to Vegas in my
card.).
I guess Liz and Jason like Mexican food because we also received
packets
of Lawry's Enchilada Sauce mix. The packages were accompanied by
postcards
proclaiming "Bad Boys Do..." And "Good Girls Can..." The fans
0;filled in
the blanks with their own handwritten sentiments such as "make love
and
war" and "raise kids and hell."... Liz's rival Sam got some love, too
via
an assortment of Happy New Year cards from Kelly Monaco loyalists. The
assortment of postcards were printed with messages like "Jason & Sam
Are
So Fine in 2009" and "A New Year, A New Chance At Love."... At least
one
fan is stumping for a retro redo, Elaine from Florida writes, "In the
new
year, I'd like to see an Anna and Duke reunion on GH. It has been
exactly
20 years since they were torn apart by the warehouse explosion. A
Jesse
and Angie-style reunion is in order." The card featured a sexy tango
shot
of the pair and the message, "Anna & Duke (it takes two)"
Over on the AMC front, Patricia from Chicago sent cards to
say, "Welcome
back Alicia [Minshew] And Welcome back Kendall Hart! No one could
fill our
place, you are indeed the heart and soul of this show." She also
scrawled
the phrase "Time for Revenge!!!" on the cards and added, "Bring us
back
the take-no-prisoner, kick-ass Kendall Hart!" I want to stay on
Patricia's
good side..... There were romantic cards from
http://sourceinterlink.r.delivery.net/r?
2.1.3Ky.2gt.11g2vw.C2fgX8..N.MydI.
1tA.EDcEcZ00 pronouncing "Bianca and Reese -- great together." Someone
else sent cards demanding that AMC "Stop Insulting Lesbians." The fan
wrote, "We are not BAD people. We are human. We don't need a man in
the
middle of our relationship to survive." .... There was also a card
with a
black and white shot of Aiden Turner and the message "Aidan Devane, A
Darker Shade of Gray? Yeah, Baby!!! AT Rocks AMC!"
There were several glossy cards to plead, "Give us back the good old
days
... When Luke and Noah were happy, affectionate, and together on
ATWT!".... Meanwhile, there was an array of cards with pictures of
Roger
Howarth (Paul) "Peg" fans have "Hope for Paul and Meg". There was
also a
cute birth announcement to "welcome their beautiful angel Eliza into
the
WORLD!" The crew at

1tA.EJMEcb00 sent a mélange of love notes.
In terms of DAYS, there's a new "Ejami" card with the
phrase, "Desperately
Searching for Grey EJ." A fan wrote, "We miss our bad boy and want him
back ASAP. Sami and their children need him."... Another DAYS devotee
said
it with a rhyme: "Lift Up Your Glasses And Let's Give A Toast. It's
Steve
& Kayla We Want to See The Most!"
The folks at soapteens.com urge B&B to "Break the Cycle of 'Family
Love'
Keep Steffy and Marcus Together!"
And Y&R newbie Eden already has support with this message: "No one
said it
would be easy. I'm glad to see Eden is sticking around Genoa City!"
TYPE SET
The scenes between GH's Elizabeth and Lucky playing video games and
her
helping with his taxes on the 1/7 episode were completely adorable.
It was
nice after two-plus years of constant grimaces and looks of secret
pain
and longing to see Elizabeth laughing and smiling again. I had almost
forgotten she knew how to do that. It was refreshing to see scenes
that
allowed Lucky to have not only a personality but a sense of humor. The
jokes, teasing and the comfortable familiar knowledge of what the
other
was thinking was a wonderful reminder of what this couple once was. I
hope
that GH continues with this direction and gives us more scenes like
this.

Q. I'm a little confused about something. The girl who plays Haley on
ONE
TREE HILL looks just like the actress who played Michelle on GL in the
'90s, but I do not recognize her name. Can you clear this up for me?
Are
they the same actress, and if so, when/why did she change her name?
T.F.,
Boston, MA
A. Yes, they are the same. As Joie Lenz, Bethany Joy Galeotti played
GL's
Michelle Bauer from 1998-2000. She began going by her birth name,
Bethany
Joy Lenz, when she took the role of ONE TREE HILL's Haley in 2003. On
December 31, 2005, she married Enation band member Michael Galeotti,
thus
becoming Bethany Joy Galeotti.

THE TOP 10 PLUS
OLTL's David (Tuc Watkins)
—ABC
1. Robin and Patrick's wedding on GENERAL HOSPITAL was brilliantly
done, with the return of Robert and Anna, the focus on family, and
the use of the show's history. Including flashbacks!
2. GH should leave LuSam together. Sam brings out the Spencer side of
Lucky, and when given airtime, they're fun to watch.
3. David Vickers is back in ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Llanview. Con artist
or reformed monk, we love him.
4. How is it that even with a Puddle of Mudd performance at Ultra
Violet, OLTL's Addie still had the best party on New Year's?
5. If YOUNG AND RESTLESS' Olivia is such an expert on relationships,
why did she come back to town still single?
6. Considering Theo's penchant for wandering off, DAYS OF OUR LIVES'
Abe and Lexie should invest in a full-time bodyguard for the tyke.
7. Why hasn't anyone in town thought of running a DNA test on Y&R's
back-from-the-dead Kay?
8. It was a kick to see GUIDING LIGHT's Alan encounter the new
Shayne — played by Jeff Branson, who portrayed a young Alan in
flashbacks during the Maryanne and Carrie Caruthers story of 2003-'04.
9. DAYS' Daniel sure gets around. With all these affairs, he should
get some advice from Y&R's resident "sex addict," Jack.
10. Why is everyone surprised that OLTL's Cole is on drugs? When we
met him, he was taking steroids...
FOR YOUR EYES ONLY
David Andrew Macdonald (Edmund, GL)
—JPI
•From Assistant Editor Meridith M. Miller: The time has almost come
for GL fan favorite David Andrew Macdonald to return to Springfield
as Edmund. As if his return isn't exciting enough, fans will be
pleased to know that the writers have cooked up a fantastic twist to
reintroduce the "Dark Prince." I can't spill the beans, but here's a
hint: Edmund's return is tied to Shayne in some way. Macdonald told
me how much he's enjoyed being back in the studio. "It's always nice
to have the opportunity to come back," he said, "especially since I'm
so connected to the show. And also, as a New York actor, it's a
wonderful gig to have." Macdonald also noted the great time he's been
having working with Jeff Branson (Shayne). "Working with the current
incarnation of Shayne, Jeff, is really wonderful. He's a lot of fun
to work with, so it's been a pleasure." And it'll be a pleasure when
Macdonald returns to our TV screens. Stay tuned.
WHY WE CLAPPED
Kyle Lowder (Rick, B&B)
—JPI
Kyle Lowder's Rick spent Christmas at Phoebe's gravesite, keeping THE

physically fought to contain Rick's emotions by clenching his eyes
and gritting his teeth. He gave voice to Rick's anguish, and when
Taylor arrived, let loose his more wistful feelings. We wished to
bestow Applause, Applause kudos on Lowder for Issue 2.

NIGHTWATCH
Vincent Pastore
—JPI
•From Senior Writer/Editor Joe Diliberto: THE SOPRANOS — The Complete
Series is now available, collecting every episode on 33 DVDs, and
listing for $399.98. Vincent Pastore, best known for playing Big
Pussy on that legendary mob series, took on the role of mob kingpin
Maximus Giambetti on GENERAL HOSPITAL for a few weeks this past fall,
so I could not resist asking him for his impression of HBO's highly
controversial series finale, which left fans in the dark.
PASTORE: I was totally disappointed with it. I spoke to David [Chase,
the series' creator], and I said, "Why'd you do that to the public?"
He said, "It's over." And I said, "Why didn't you give them a
finale?" I think that they did that because they don't know if they
are going to do a movie; they don't know if they are coming back to
television, so they didn't give us closure. I know a lot of fans are
disappointed. Just to go to black? After watching for six years? Can
I ask you, how did you feel?
WEEKLY: I was so shocked; I thought my cable went out.
PASTORE: I think David's computer broke down when he was writing the
scene. He never finished, and just turned it in.
WEEKLY: I just made up my own ending. I decided the blackness meant
Tony got whacked.
PASTORE: Everyone says, "Are they gonna make a movie?" How are they
gonna make a movie [without] all the characters that were rich and
entertaining? Paulie Walnuts, he's still there. Silvio's in a coma.
Christopher's dead. Big Pussy's dead. All these guys are dead. Are
they gonna make a movie with a whole new crew? Is it gonna be about
the kids growing up?
WEEKLY: THE SOPRANOS: THE NEXT GENERATION?
PASTORE: The next generation? You know what — that doesn't entertain
me. What entertains me is maybe if they make a movie about the
beginning, like The Godfather, Part II. Are they gonna use all-new
actors with Jimmy [Gandolfini, Tony]? The reason why Sex and the City
was a hit was because it was the same cast. You know what I'm saying?
Gimme those characters back again, and take us back to the beginning.
That's what I'd do.
WEEKLY: Maybe they could use the ghost of Pussy?
PASTORE: Maybe. I'm not asking Hollywood to give me a job or
something like that; I'm just saying, if you're gonna make a movie
about THE SOPRANOS, what are you gonna make it about? When CHEERS was
over, CHEERS was over. When FRIENDS was over, it was over. It's done.
THE WE IN WEEKLY
AMC's Kendall (Alicia Minshew)
—ABC
•From Assistant Editor Julie Globus: With ALL MY CHILDREN's Kendall
in such a precarious position, I need to take a moment to reflect on
all the additional hurdles she will face if she wakes up. I am so
disappointed with how AMC has handled Gabrielle's parentage. What
should have been the beautiful welcoming to the world of a baby girl
became a travesty when AMC chose the absolute worst father for Bianca
and Reese's baby. Scratch that: Zach is hardly a poor choice for a
father. The worst choice was simply the way the story was written.
It's hardly shocking that Bianca would look to Zach for a sperm
donation. His DNA would allow the new baby to be biologically related
to Miranda, not to mention the fact that Zach is a man she loves and
respects. What was absolutely shocking was both Zach and Bianca's
decisions to keep the truth from Kendall. If AMC had stayed true to
Zach's character and to his relationship with Kendall, he never would
have made the decision to father Bianca and Reese's baby without her
input. Likewise, Bianca, who has long been known as a pillar of
morality, would never have gone behind her sister's back in such a
way, or kept the secret for so long. AMC essentially threw Bianca, a
much-beloved character, to the wolves by having her come between Zach
and Kendall. And the worst part of all? Had Zach and Bianca acted in
character, and asked Kendall before making such a life-changing
decision, the odds are that she, acting in character, would have said
yes. This is the woman who was ready to give up her own biological
child to her best friend. I hope that next time, AMC will stay true
to its characters, and avoid the backlash of the century.
