TENSION
Tension mounts between the Logan sisters, since Katie disagrees with
Brooke and Donna about what Storm did before he died.
Nick comforts Bridget in his arms.
Nick and Bridget come to a decision about their relationship.
Nick goes along with Bridget's request to see if they have a future
as a couple, agreeing to have no hard feelings if it doesn't work
out.
Donna and Brooke are surprised by Katie's reaction to Storm's final
actions.
Katie tells Brooke and Donna how she really feels.
Brooke and Donna give Katie some advice.
Stephen and Eric have a heartfelt talk.

Eric is grateful for Rick's support, not knowing that Rick is in a
relationship that others disapprove of, also.
Brooke knows that Stephanie is up to her old tricks.
Brooke warns Stephanie to behave at the wedding, since the Logans
are the "new" Forresters.
Eric and Donna's guests arrive at the wedding.
Kristen grudgingly returns at Stephanie's request, to be a guest at
Eric and Donna's wedding.
Ridge and Brooke criticize Rick and Taylor for attending the wedding
together.
Stephanie hopes Eric will not marry Donna.
Felicia threatens Donna.
Eric and Donna make it to the altar.
Stephanie looks on in disbelief when she realizes that her final
attempts to interfere having failed, as Eric and Donna are wed.
The Forrester children are deeply disappointed as the minister
pronounces Eric and Donna husband and wife.

Stephanie and Katie bond over mutual heartache and form a new
alliance. Stephanie vows not to sit around and wait for Eric and

beach house. Marcus reads about Eric and Donna's wedding and arrives

Victoria takes control of her career this week on YOUNG AND RESTLESS

Beemer Gets Beautiful
Big news! Another of DAYS's ex-Shawn's has landed a new gig. Soap
Opera Digest has learned that Brandon Beemer, who left Salem in
March, has been cast on BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL. Look for the popular
actor to join the show in a new role.

A Closer Look: Brad
Newlywed Brad could be a newly-dad this week. Austin Peck shares his
thoughts on married life, Liberty and Brad's pursuit of happiness
with Katie.
SOW: Brad barely got to enjoy his wedding and honeymoon before he got
handed Daddy Duty.
AP: That's the speculation. We don't know for sure because they've
got to do a DNA test.
SOW: How does he feel when this girl essentially walks up and
says, "You're my dad?"
AP: At first, he thinks it's a joke. Then he starts to wonder. When
she says who her mom is, he realizes there could be a possibility
because he was with her mom a long time ago. Katie helps him by
putting the brakes on and mentioning, "Well, you are on TV. Let's err
on the side of caution and get a DNA test."
SOW: Katie and Brad's first marital spat was over having kids right
away, and now they have one on their doorstep.
AP: Katie got upset because she thought, "Oh, you made me all these
promises and we get married and you don't want any [kids]." It
freaked her out. Brad had to reassure her he wants to have children
with her but he wants to enjoy her for a little bit longer. "Let's
get to know each other as married people." She jumped the gun and
Brad had to wrangle her back to her senses. Everything's going great
when this Liberty girl shows up and says, "I'm your daughter." It's a
challenge, but Katie rises to the occasion and so does Brad. It's a
stressful time for them, though.
SOW: What's it like playing the potential father of a teenager? Is it
even mathematically possible?
AP: It actually is, which freaks me out (laughs).
SOW: Because your boys, Aidan and Roman, are so little.
AP: They're 5 and 3. It is kind of weird [playing a teen's father].
It's like skipping steps and jumping into something, but because I am
a father it's not that big of a jump. Though having a girl would be
stressful for me, even though I would like to have one.
SOW: Is it stressful for Brad?
AP: Absolutely. The whole concept, the idea of it. Liberty is a
handful. She hasn't had many boundaries in her life. She's a pisser.
Luke & Noah Move In!
Luke moves in with Noah and Ameera this week to try and salvage his
romance with Noah, but the living situation proves too close for
comfort.
"He's grasping at straws, trying anything," sighs Van Hansis. "He
comes up with all of these ideas and one of them is moving in as Noah
and Ameera's roommate. Luke feels like he's slowly losing Noah - not
to another person, to a situation. And he's trying to reverse that.
Holden tells him not to do it, but he doesn't listen to him."
Impulsive Luke makes himself at home at the cottage, looking forward
to a little alone time with his man. Only it's not so easy in such
close quarters.
"Ameera surrenders the bedroom to them and it's very awkward.
Everything's very awkward," sighs Hansis. "Noah and Luke go into the
bedroom, and Luke starts freaking out that Ameera is right outside
the door and can hear everything. It's not a romantic moment or
sexual moment. It's just Luke being frustrated. He's always
frustrated, always paranoid, and always moping," chuckles
Hansis. "So, Luke has a little freak-out, yells at Noah, and leaves
the house."
Meaning his new living situation lasts "a couple of hours, if that.
Luke does this to himself," notes Hansis, wryly. "If he had just
stayed a little calmer, maybe he could've [worked things out]. But he
doesn't even stay the night."
Noah's not too happy, either. He blurts out to Ameera that he can't
take it anymore; he wants this marriage over ASAP. "They've got to
live together so it looks real for the immigration officers, but it
leaves Luke in the lurch," explains Hansis. "Noah feels an obligation
to Ameera to make sure she's okay, but he's frustrated as well,
because he wants to be with Luke and he can't be."
Separation anxiety might be the least of Noah's worries in the weeks
ahead. "Things get very, very complicated," warns Hansis. "Everything
starts coming to a head."

Victor moves forward with his relationship with Sabrina while at the
same time David's return to gambling threatens to ruin his chances
with Nikki. In May, according to head writer Maria Bell, either Nikki
or Victor will is going to get married. But Bell says "the history
between Nikki and Victor can never be discounted so their fans
shouldn't necessarily give up hope on the reuniting." According to
Bell the marriage is not the end but "the beginning of a major story."
NICK/PHYLLIS
Nick and Phyllis are on the cover of SID and in their usual
misleading way the caption on the cover reads "Nick Betrays Phyllis."
Of course the accompanying story contains nothing about Nick
betraying Phyllis the way the caption makes it sound. When Phyllis
and Sharon continue to clash at Restless Style they ask Nick to
decide. He says they will go with Sharon's way because it saves time.
According to Michelle Stafford it is no big deal but it does irritate
Phyllis. Nick manages to smooth things over with Phyllis with a
treasure hunt through the office to celebrate their anniversary.
Sharon finds it painful to watch Nick and Phyllis as does Jack. When
Jack and Sharon get home they discuss how hurtful Nick and Phyllis'
relationship was to them.
According to Joshua Morrow "Nick is absolutely one hundred percent
with Phyllis....he will always carry some feelings for Sharon....that
will never go away.....but Nick and Phyllis have a great
relationship....they love each other." However JM cautions not to

Another spoiler from Soap Opera Digest is that Phyllis finds out that
Daniel and Amber are sleeping together and hopes it is just a fling,
but Nick doesn't think so. According to MS Phyllis hates the idea of
Daniel and Amber together and she thinks Amber is a "wackadoo."

Sabrina Crashes Reed's Christening
Outcast Sabrina attends Reed's christening this week, causing
tensions galore for Victoria and the entire Newman family.
"From the start, Sabrina knew this was Vicky's moment and she didn't
want to ruin it or cause problems," insists Raya Meddine. "She
said, 'I'm not going.' But Victor tells Sabrina she is a part of his
life, and he wants her to be at the event. That's why Sabrina goes."
When Victoria and JT see her, they're stunned. "There's a lot of
tension and discomfort," admits Meddine. "JT says, 'We assumed you
not being Reed's godmother would mean you wouldn't show up'." JT asks
Sabrina to leave, but Victor won't allow it.
"Victor defends Sabrina. He says he asked her to be there," notes
Meddine.
Sabrina tries to make the best of the situation. She even gives
Victoria a special gift for Reed: a rattle from one of Vicky's
favorite shops in Italy.
"Victoria does feel a moment of affection, but she covers it right
up. She says, 'Thank you,' and walks away," says Meddine. "It doesn't
break the ice between them."
In fact, the glacier between the two women and most of the Newmans
looms larger than ever. "Sabrina feels left out and not wanted by
everyone - Victoria, JT, and Nikki - except Victor, who's very
loving," points out Meddine. "It's also odd, because she was supposed
to be Reed's godmother. Now, all of a sudden, it's Phyllis. The whole
thing is strange. But Sabrina's there because she loves Victor and
Reed. She's there because her man asked her to be there."
Sabrina's hopeful Victoria will come around, eventually.
"Sabrina would like Victoria to open up to the idea that she truly
fell in love with Victor," notes Meddine. "It was out of the blue.
She did not expect it. It just happened. But the feelings are real,
and the intentions are good."
Yet, Sabrina realizes "time is going to have to take care of things
and wash away the pain," says Meddine, adding that the new twosome
are "definitely not an affair. Victor and Sabrina are genuinely in
love with each other. Sabrina doesn't feel she has to defend their
relationship, but she'd obviously appreciate it if people didn't see
her as an opportunist gold-digger. That bothers her. Sabrina fell in
love with this man who is way older and in a different universe than
she is. Life brought them together. It took Sabrina by surprise as
much as anybody else, and she's not going to sacrifice that for
anyone."

A Closer Look: Gloria
Despite spending a passionate night with Gloria, Jeffrey moves in
with Jill this week. Gloria's fit to be tied, but Judith Chapman
revels in playing the woman scorned.
SOW: Glo and Jeffrey finally have sex and then he leaves?
JC: Gloria has finally succumbed. She and Jeffrey have this wonderful
night, but the next morning he is gone. Gloria is terribly hurt. When
Jeffrey shows up, Gloria is like, "Oh! My long-lost husband. Where
have you been?" He says, "None of your business," because he's been
planning something wonderful for her. Gloria can't get over it. She
says, "Fine. It's your life. Do whatever you want." Jeffrey throws a
snit fit and leaves. They're off to the races again, battling each
other instead of being nice to each other.
SOW: Gloria goes to talk to Michael and Lauren, and ends up deciding
to adopt a baby?
JC: Lauren says Gloria needs better karma. Gloria thinks about it.
She realizes all the mistakes she's made and all the bad karma she's
developed. She's fixating on fixing it. By giving back to the
universe and taking care of a child, Gloria thinks all will be well.
SOW: Of course, Michael refuses to help, but Gloria won't be
deterred. What transpires when she goes to see another lawyer?
JC: He tells her it's going to take years to adopt. That's
unacceptable to Gloria. She says, "Spend the money and make it
happen." In a way, Gloria is trying to manipulate her karma - buy it
and all will be all right. She turns on a dime when the lawyer says
an adoption would require a background check on her.
SOW: Does that burst her bubble?
JC: Oh, big time! The last thing Gloria wants is to have somebody
investigate her. She was going to do right by the world, nurture a
new life, and redeem herself for all of her misdeeds. But bad karma
keeps coming back to haunt her.
SOW: How does she learn Jeffrey has moved in with Jill?
JC: Alistair, who's all hot to trot to get together with Gloria,
tells her. Gloria is like, "No!" She doesn't believe it. But she
manuevers a way to go over there. She comes up with a ruse of
delivering files to Jill.
SOW: How do things go?
JC: Gloria finds Jeffrey very comfortable at the Chancellor estate.
He's acting like the cat who swallowed the canary. He says he's
having the best time, that Jill is taking care of him, and everything
is hunky-dory.
SOW: So it doesn't go well?
JC: Jeffrey completely insults Gloria. He says, "I'm glad I traded
up." How hateful and hurtful is that? Gloria tells Jeffrey he and
Jill deserve each other. Gloria has an "up yours" attitude as she
walks out.
SOW: But how is she really feeling inside?
JC: Gloria is hurt. She just spent the night with Jeffrey after all
these months of playing cat and mouse. They made mad, passionate
love. The very next night, he's with Jill! Gloria is deeply hurt.
Win, Lose, or Dru
Onscreen chatter about her 'deceased' Y&R character, coupled with
SOD's headline about a Drucilla recast, have compelled actress
Victoria Rowell to speak out about a possible return to the role she
left in 2007.
"With so much activity going on, I owe the fans an explanation," says
Rowell, joking that, "Drucilla Winters is in the woods somewhere,
dancing around in ballet slippers with a hat on, suffering amnesia,
and living with a lumberjack. But no one has sent a lifeline to the
actress who plays her."
Rowell would be agreeable to a lifeline. "Oh, sure," she asserts. "I
never say 'never'. I didn't say 'never' when I was working on
Diagnosis Murder for three years. The ball is definitely in Y&R's
court. We'll see what happens."
How would Rowell feel if the show recast Dru? "That question has been
asked time and time again as far back as when I left in 1998, and the
fans answer it for me," says Rowell. "I portray the character from a
place of authenticity. It's very tailored. That's the beauty of
acting. You can bring your brand of performance to a character. The
fans have spoken across the board. There are certain characters they
believe shouldn't be recast. That's all."
Buzz - Office Politics
Y&R's Michelle Stafford is delighted tensions are rising between
Phyllis and Sharon at the Restless Style office. "When Sharon and
Phyllis had their issues before, it wasn't fun," explains
Stafford. "It was pretty heavy, like, 'This witch stole my husband!'"
Now that the emphasis has switched to the workplace, "Sharon and I
can have fun with it. It can be more of a sparring thing between
these two women, like, 'Who's going to win?'" notes Stafford,
admitting she occasionally suggests "cool bits" to add to the
scenes. "I'll say to Sharon, 'Throw this in, if you think it works,"
says Stafford, who is always trying to make the scenes "fun to watch.
We're just starting. We're just feeling our way, but people seem to
like it."
SOD Spoilers Re: Nick and Phyllis
Nick and Phyllis are looking forward to their first wedding
anniversary, but it looks like their plans for a romantic dinner may
not happen.
First, the celebratory mood is tainted when Phyllis and Sharon
continue to clash at Restless Style. Surprisingly, Nick overrules
Phyllis. "Nick doesn't go, 'Oh, Sharon, you're right,' " explains
Michelle Stafford (Phyllis). "It's more like, 'We don't have time for
this.' Phyllis just stares at him, like, 'Are you kidding me?' You
know, like a wife would do. She wouldn't blow up in front of the ex
because then she's going to know there's an issue. That's just how us
chicks are."
Buzzkill No. 2: Phyllis finds out that Daniel and Amber have slept
together. Mom hopes it was just a fling, but Nick doesn't think
so. "Phyllis thinks Amber is a wackadoo," notes Stafford.
In an attempt to shift back into a festive mood, Nick sends Phyllis
on a treasure hunt in the warehouse. Phyllis finds her first gift: a
teddy bear dressed in prison garb. "Nick thinks it's funny and
Phyllis is more like, '"Oh, wow, look at this,' " chuckles Stafford.
As the search continues, Sharon is disgusted by the loving display.
Explains Stafford, "Sharon is watching the woman who came between
between her and Nick having a good time, so that's gotta suck."
A fed-up Sharon leaves. Later, she and Jack commiserate about how
Nick and Phyllis's affair affected them and how it still hurts .
Meanwhile, last-minute problems crop up at the warehouse. "the lights
go out again and things get crazy," says Stafford. "Phyllis starts to
worry they won't be able to get away for their dinner plans."
Nick sends a frustrated Phyllis out on an errand and when she
returns, she's in for a surprise. "He's got the warehouse decorated
like the New Mexico bar where they were married," smiles
Stafford. "It's so cute. That's when she realizes that Nick planned
these problems just so he could surprise her. Then Trace Adkins comes
out and sings 'You're Gonna Miss This.' It's his new song and is very
beautiful."
The surprises keep coming when Nick makes a shocking announcement
about himself. Says Stafford, "It really catches Phyllis off-guard."
Of course the shocking announcement is that he has regained all of
his memory. - amy

SOD is reporting that Nikki continues to have doubts about David and
keeps putting off setting a date. But David convinces Nikki he is not
gambling and even impresses her with a brilliant marketing strategy
at Jabot. So Nikki agrees to marry David but refuses to do so
immediately. They set a wedding date for August and book the
Colonnade room. Vincent Irizarry is quoted as saying that David wants
to get married sooner and the wedding date may be moved up.
Meanwhile David sinks further into debt. He loses fifty thousand
dollars at the poker game to Skye and has to ask Brad to front him
the money. David is also upset to find out that Nikki hired Victoria
at Jabot. According to VI David has been trying to hide his gambling
from Nikki now he has to worry about hiding it from Victoria as well.

In the Contract Role of "Steffy Forrester"
May 2, 2008, Los Angeles, CA ...Canadian Actress Jacqueline MacInnes
Wood has joined the cast of CBS's hit daytime drama, The Bold and the
Beautiful, in the contract role of "Steffy Forrester" Executive
Producer and Head Writer, Bradley P. Bell announced today.
The character of "Steffy," the daughter of "Dr. Taylor Hayes" (played
by Hunter Tylo) and "Ridge Forrester" (played by Ronn Moss), was last
seen on canvas in January 2006, as she left for college in
London. "Steffy" returns to the canvas when "Ridge" calls her home to
ask for her support with the family business, "Forrester Creations."
MacInnes Wood's first tape date is May 2, 2008. Her first airdate is
scheduled for Wednesday, June 4, 2008.
Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, MacInnes Wood moved to
Toronto at age 18 to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. Her
first job, as "The Hair Girl" in a First Choice Hair Cutter's
national commercial, continues to play to this day. Soon after, she
landed the job of host on the global series, Gamer Girlz. MacInnes
Wood then enlisted in acting classes at Ryerson University, Centre
for the Arts and the Armstrong Acting Studio. In 2007, she appeared
as "Faith the Model" in Paul Reiser's TBS micro-series, Lovebites,
as "Candice" in Donny Wahlberg's UPN series M.V.P., "Julie Gunn" in
the Disney pilot, Skyrunners, as well as a lead role in the Hallmark
movie, Nightmare at the end of the Hall, scheduled to air in the near

YOUNG AND RESTLESS --David is stunned when Skye wins a huge $50,000
poker
pot during Brad's private poker party. David becomes worried about not
being able to cover his bets. Brad offers to front the money for
David.
Later, Brad pushes David to start paying back the money loaned to him.
Esther inadvertently tells Gloria that Jeff is NOT hitting the sheets
with Jill. Jill is pleased when she slip to Gloria the news that Jeff
met with a divorce attorney. Following an argument with Victor about
Adam's manipulative schemes, Victoria quits Newman Enterprises and
takes a
job at Jabot. Adam questions his character and the way he treated
Victoria, but Victor assures Adam that Adam's mother, Hope, would not
be disappointed with Adam -- OR his actions. As Victoria returns to
the Newman building to pack up her office, Victor worries about
Victoria's
decision to jump ship. While Victoria is packing up her office, Nick
stops by to visit his sister and is supporting when he learns about
Victoria's decision. Later, Jill is impressed by some of the fresh
ideas
which Victoria brings with here to the Jabot boardroom. Privately,
Victoria admits to herself that she is not as enthused about working
for
Jabot as she has pretended to be. In the meantime, Victor remains
confident that his daughter will return to Newman - UNTIL Victor
learns
that Victoria is now working for Jabot. Unbeknownst to Victor, Adam
continue to hint to Sabrina that Adam believes that Sabrina is just
using
Victor to further her own career. Later, however, Victor suggests that
Adam should move into Victoria's old office. Although Adam hesitates,
he
finally makes the move. In spite of crossing swords with Sabrina, Adam
quickly agrees when Victor asks Adam to come live at the ranch.
Meanwhile,
David is stunned when he learns that Victoria has joined Jabot.
Although
Nikki suspects that David HAS returned to gambling - David remains
confident that he will be able to keep his Nikki from learning about
David's clandestine poker game with Brad. However, David ALSO realizes
that, with Victoria now working in the same office with Nikki, it
will be
even more difficult for David to keep his secrets from becoming
public.
However, when Nikki is impressed by a brilliant marketing strategy
which
David develops, Nikki surprises David by agreeing to set a wedding
date.
Although Nikki is making plans for a September or October wedding -
David
has visions of tying the knot much earlier than that. After Nikki and
David book the Colonnade Room for their wedding, they decide on an
August
wedding date. However, David still has visions of making it down the
aisle MJUCH sooner. Colleen tells Kevin about Adrian's book and that
she
told Adrian everything about her dad's past including Jana's
involvement. Colleen tells Adrian that she was wrong to tell him
everything about her father's past and that he should NOT publish the
book. Adrian learns that his book tour has been cancelled and the book
put "on hold." When Adrian blames Colleen for her father's actions,
Colleen announces to Adrian that she is going to Shanghai - and will
be
away for a while. Meanwhile, Sabrina is thrilled when Victor presents
Sabrina with the first Barbie doll which came out on the market in
1959.
This is an item which Sabrina remembers that her mother had and which
Sabrina always wanted to have when she was a child. Sabrina's holiday
mood is dampened, however, when she learns that Adam will soon be
moving
into the ranch. Although Sabrina is NOT thrilled at the prospect of
Adam
taking up residence at the ranch, Sabrina still assures Victor that
she
does NOT have a problem with Victor's plans for his son. However, when
Adam arrives to move in at the ranch, Sabrina and Adam immediately
cross
swords again. While Sabrina is still stewing about her latest
confrontation with Adam, Victor stuns Sabrina when he suddenly asks
Sabrina to marry him!

MONDAY, MAY 12, 2008
Y&R -- TAMMIN SURSOK will be absent following a major tiff between
Adrian and Colleen about Adrian's book. Colleen will leave on a trip
to
Shanghai, beginning May 12, SURSOK will be absent for about six
weeks.
Colleen's absence will allow SURSOK to film a movie. Some are
speculating
that it will be a new actress who steps into the role when Coleen
returns
in six weeks. Show bigwigs are, as always, remaining mum about any
possible personnel changes within the cast.

TALES FROM THE INTERVIEW
JENNIFER LENHART: When I interviewed Dylan Bruce's (Chris) mom,
Stephanie S tratton, for our Mother's Day issue, I was expecting to
hear some embarrass ing secrets from his childhood, since I pictured
him as quite the troublema ker. Instead, she told an incredibly
touching story about his dedication as a brother to her youngest son,
15-year-old Spencer, that gave me a whole n ew perspective on the
kind of guy he is. I didn't have room to include the full story in
our current issue, but as she points out, it would be a disse rvice
not to mention it. "He's always been such a good son," she told me wh
en I asked about the nicest thing he's ever done for her. "I don't
know if you know this, but his 15-year-old brother is a brain tumor
survivor. He wa s diagnosed at 3 with a brain tumor. Dylan was in
high school and he was on the football team, right in the midst of
things ? popular jock on campus. His little brother needed a lot of
care, learning how to be a kid again. Dy lan quit the football team
so he could come home every day and play with Sp encer and help him
with different issues that affect brain tumor survivors. He was
really instrumental, along with the rest of my family, in getting S
pencer back to normal. This year, we had a reoccurrence of the brain
tumor, and Dylan was there, just like he'd been there before. Again,
he's been ve ry instrumental in getting his little brother back on
his feet. He's a huge part of my son's recovery. He's got a
wonderful, deep heart. Dylan's been private about it, but to not say
that's one of the most amazing things abou t him, I would be doing
him a disservice."
DANIELLE MCCLURE: I had the wonderful pleasure of sitting down to
dish with GL's Tina Sloan (Lillian), Beth Chamberlin (Beth) and Marcy
Rylan (Lizzie) recently for a Mother's Day Q&A (check out page 66 in
the new issue for th e full interview). This delightful trio had me
in stitches the entire time as they talked about their dysfunctional
soap counterparts, but I couldn't help but to feel like the odd-girl-
out when the ladies started chatting abo ut their incredible real-
life bond. Who knew they were just as close off-sc reen as they are
on? And they all really do look like they could be real-li fe
relatives (a mistake Rylan says several onlookers make whenever they
exi t the GL studio and walk down the street together). Sloan and
Chamberlin ha ve been gal pals pretty much ever since Chamberlin
first joined GL back in 1989. Sloan is also the godmother to
Chamberlin's son, Luke, who even gets the two women confused! The
entire interview was far too long to include in the magazine, so
here's some of what didn't make it. Enjoy!
Digest: Beth and Tina, just how close are you? Chamberlin: It's true
in a sense that I've probably picked up on some of Ti na's
mannerisms. We all do that at different times. [Nodding to Rylan]
Pret ty soon you're going to be doing that too!... From the time I
came on back in '89, Tina really took care of me and I could always
count on Tina and sh e was very much just who I went to for
everything in life.... I just knew. I knew it before we even brought
[Luke] home. I knew who was going to be hi s godmother. [Pointing to
Sloan] I don't know if you knew it yet! Sloan: Nothing makes me
happier. I have only my son's [Renny] pictures in m y den and Luke.
My husband has children by his first wife and sometimes the y'll come
in and look at the pictures and go, "Who's that?" Chamberlin: I was
in a bind and the woman who normally sits for Luke couldn 't be
there, so I called Tina and said, "Tina, can I bring Luke over?" And
Luke was at a stage where he was going through separation anxiety,
but I le ft him and he didn't even know it, did he? Sloan: He didn't
notice! He just looked at my hair and he was happy as coul d be. It
was hysterical! Chamberlin: And then when I got there, he kept
looking and looking [back an d forth].... Sloan: He got confused! But
then he went right for this mom. Chamberlin: That was actually a
really funny moment, but a relief for me, o f course!
Digest: What's the best advice your moms ever gave to you?
Chamberlin: This was just a recent thing with me being a mother
myself. I w as talking to my mother about how hard it is to
discipline, to tell your ch ild not to do something because you want
to raise them as good people and p roductive individuals, but when
they're 2 years old they're doing things th ey're not supposed to,
you love them so much that you don't want to stop th em! So, I asked
my mother recently.... And my mother said, "I always kept i t in mind
that I wanted everyone to love you as much I love you." Sloan: That's
great. My mother was very creative. She always said, "Listen to your
own drummer." She kept me from following the pack. In my era, you g
ot married and had children, but I'm doing this and I've done pretty
much w hat I wanted to my whole life and it really was because of
her. She was ver y gutsy....
Rylan: With my mom it was the same thing; to go for it and to be
whoever yo u are. Growing up, I had to wear glasses so I'd pick these
huge purple plas tic things with these stars on them, and she knows
that in school I'm going to get tortured, but I loved them so it
didn't matter. I'd go school weari ng the most ridiculous things! I
felt I had the freedom to try everything a nd do everything and to
never worry about my peer group or anything like th at . She has this
thing that she says to me.... It's so incredibly embarras sing to me.
She always tells me to, "Give them that electric smile." She wo uld
tell that to me [before] going on stage, going on an interview or for
a nything that would be scary in life. That would always be the last
thing sh e'd tell. [I remember] standing on stage during my first
solo when I was 5 - I remember my pink tutu - and I was smiling.
NAOMI RABINOWITZ: After working for Digest for so many years, I'll
admit I' m sometimes a bit jaded when it comes to dealing with stars,
most of whom a re poised and 0;accustomed to dealing with the press.
For this reason, it w as a refreshing change to have the opportunity
to chat with Susan Harper, m om to Emily Harper (Fancy, PASSIONS) for
our Mother's Day issue. Susan was just so thrilled to speak with a
magazine about her daughter and kept me en tertained with stories
about Emily as a little girl. Her pride in her "Emmy " was evident,
as was her nervousness ("I hope I'm giving you good stuff," she kept
saying), but her interview was full of heart. Plus, Susan immediat
ely e-mailed me a large assortment of family photos, which was very
helpful ! Thanks to Susan, I felt I got to know the real Emily a
little better, and I also got to experience firsthand how Emily grew
up to be such a kind per son.
