She's reading: "World Without End" by Ken Follett.

The plot: A followup to Follett's 1989 epic "The Pillars of the Earth," this sequel centers around a 12th-century English Gothic cathedral and its surrounding cast of characters, who are caught in a web of mystery, love and murder overshadowed by the Black Death.

What Somerville says: "I can't put it down. It's one of those books that mixes a little bit of fiction and a little bit of nonfiction. Any history buffs, people who like religion, suspense and mystery mixed with history, or anyone who likes 'The Da Vinci Code,' needs to read Ken Follett. It's the type of book where I'm saying to my boyfriend, 'Can we just go home?' because I'm so excited about it.
