I'll second that suggestion.  One of the tuners is locked up and a reboot should
free it up.

Try rebooting the DVR. Usually problems like yours clear up after this.

Beginning last night. Monday, while recording a single show, I could not view
any other channel in the lineup. This has continued this morning, Tuesday.
When I switch to another channel from the one being recorded. the banner at the
bottom comes up, giving channel number and title of show etc., but the screen is
black. This happens on all channels except the one I'm recording. If I stop
the recording I can view all channels. I've been testing it for the last hour
and the problem has remained the same.

Let me be clear: this is NOT involving recording two channels....I know I can't
change to a non recording channel then. This is when I'm recording ONLY one
program.

I'm in West NY, NJ.

I'd like to know if anyone else is experiencing this.

Wilt, can you confirm that M cards will do more then 2 streams? Also can the
tuning adaptor handle more then two streams? The Moxi site says:

"You should know that if you purchase a 3 tuner Moxi that some cable service
providers do not support three tuners with their adapters, and you will only
have access to two tuners. Contact your cable service provider to find out
whether you're in one of those areas."

I've had my tuning adapter for about a year now and I can think of only one
instance where it crapped out and TiVo stopped recording a show. And I think
that instance was more due to momentary poor signal issues on Cablevision's end
than the tuning adapter itself.

I'm shocked at how well it has worked, honestly.

Why Is Cablevision Setting The CCI Flag On HGTVD

I am on the Rockland system and subscribe to IO. Since May I've noticed that,
the CCI flag for HGTVD has been set to 0x02 (copy once). The CCI flag for HGTV
SD (and all other non premium HD channels) is still set to 0x00. I've confirmed
with friends that this is also the case on the Bergen system. I've also been
told by forum members on BroadBand Reports that the CCI flag is not being set on
the Brookhaven system so my conclusion is that Cablevision, not the content
provider, has either purposefully or inadvertently decided to set the CCI flag
here. As I have multiple TiVos and my wife is a fan of several HGTV shows, I'm
getting some grief about not being able to transfer HGTVD shows between the
TiVos. I can't imagine why, of all the non premium HD content available on IO,
Cablevision would choose HGTVD to set the CCI flag. Hopefully Wilt will see this
post and let me know whether this is deliberate or not.

I don't know. I got the two tuner version. Bit mine only takes an M-
Card. It doesnt have two slots for a paired s-card option like TiVo.
I don't know how the three tuner works. I think it might actually take
one of the streams from the Moxi Mate, which they force you to buy as
a bundle. But I really dont know.

Hey Jeff,

I was considering ordering a Moxi DVR. A new one just came out that has 3
tuners. Do you need to get a cable card for each tuner or does one card do
multiple streams?

The problem appears to be program specific usually affecting "World Focus" on
channel 713 but has hit other shows/channels outside of our routine weekly
recording. If we record both the HD (713) and the SD (13) version of this
program then they usually both are recorded without problem.

The technicians are rushed and aren't given enough time. I just got done
spending 45 minutes on the phone repairing misinformation that was given to
the dispatcher. Wrong Host ID, wrong cable card serial number, etc.

Oh, and MOXI does work on Cablevision, apparently the field supervisors are
not aware of that, and they told my technician that he wasted his time and
he should leave and not bother with it anymore. Thankfully, Kevin, a
wonderful phone support representative was able to do what they said
couldn't be done. and got the MOXI working. (with the CORRECT host ID).

I had them come out to install a Tivo as well. the field tech spent 2+ hours
trying to get it working with no success. Kevin's supervisor was able to
get one of my S-Cards working in the TiVo, the second one is not taking
authorization, and both had the wrong Host ID's. With the correct Host IDs,
he was able to get the one card working, the second S-Card is not taking the
signal for whatever reason. Someone is going to call me back in 30 minutes
to see if it's working, if it's not, allegedly someone will be back here to
fix it before 8pm this evening and if it comes down to that, I requested
that they bring an M-Card so that I don't have to have two cards that could
cause me problems.

But it's horrible that I just paid $36 for a tech to come out here and not
get this stuff working when they could easily mail me the card, or I could
go to the store and get it and call in and have them do it right over the
phone. I took 40 minutes, but at least I am not rushing and have every
reason to give the CORRECT information to the guys on the phone.

Just thought you all would like to hear how this goes. Cablevision makes it
very hard for Cable Cards, they don't train the technicians how to do it and
they rush these poor guys and information gets screwed up. It's just
horrible. Plus I paid $36 for this "non-install install" for which I am
going to ask for a refund because the job wasn't completed correctly. If I
had bad cards I could understand, but to have bad numbers recorded in the
computer system. that's just not right.

Hi Wilt,

The problem is that the program appears to be recording (record light on and if
you go into the screens it shows that it is recording), but after the recording
is done there is no trace of the program.

When I called tech support about this problem several months ago, after trying
downloads, reboots etc they told me to swap units. I could not immediately do
so because we had a lot of programs recorded, but since then other people have

Just another note. The Cable box takes a long time to fully initialize and it

The Drive is a Toshiba 1 TB E-Sata/USB drive. It synced fine with the DVR but I
am now having issues where the DVR does not see it unless I power down the box.
Maybe it is not compatible.
Here are the specs on the drive.

Thank you.

Need some more information on your setup. I'm personally on my 2nd external
drive. The first (based on one of the Apricorn EZ-Bus enclosures) died after
about 6 months. The hard drive was fine and made it into one of my PCs. The
second was a 512 GIG WD "My DVR Expander" that I've been using without issue
(knock on wood) for about 2 years. It has been subjected to all the normal
things - power outages, brown outs, nightly power saves, etc - without ever
requiring even a power down. I have lots of issues with the DVR mind you,
but not with the stability of the e-SATA interface or this particular
external drive.

Your problem could be anything from the DVR external interface, through the
cable, to your external drive. When I started searching for SA 8300
"compatible" devices, it was a very short list. I assume the market is
better now, but the SA 8300 is apparently pretty finicky. As long as you
power down everything before you connect it, use a good quality e-SATA
cable, and the system comes up successfully with the external drive
recognized, you should NEVER have to perform the actions you are describing.

I'd recommend looking at the cable first. When I bought my first device,
only two of my 3 "known good" e-SATA cables actually worked between the SA
8300 and the DVR expander. As always, your mileage may vary.

I am unaware of the box rebooting. Does it reboot nightly? The cable is brand
new but I guess that doesn't mean it is bad. I just wish I knew why this is
occurring. Personally, it almost would be better if CV just upped the storage
capacity of the DVRs a 1.5 TB drive is insanely cheap these days.

Are you seeing this only when the box reboots, which is a known problem, or
at random intervals, which may mean a loose connection or a bad cable?

of course he did. This is nothing, he will be walking on water tomorrow.

Hi Wilt,

What about the issue of the DVR not saving recordings? Several people have
reported this issue.

Thanks.

I can't agree with you all...I've had the Fox News Channel Blocked since the

I haven't had any issue with my tuning adapter with my Tivo HD for about 2
