Hi everyone!

I'm new to the group and just wanted to let everyone know about the
great Buffy event happening in Tucson, AZ. Those in the area should
definitely check this out. Here's the info:

The Loft Cinema presents:
THE BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER SING-A-LONG! - Saturday, April 21st at
9:00 p.m. 120 mins, Rated NR

Just when Tucson vampires thought is was safe to roam the streets
again ... Buffy is back! The Loft's "way popular" all-singing,
all-dancing, all-slaying BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER SING-A-LONG has
returned for another go-round of musical mayhem!
Get set to sing with the Scoobey Gang during a special screeing of
Joss Whedon's acclaimed musical episode, "Once More With Feeling!"
Test your performance moxie at our frighteningly fun "Buffy-Oke
Tournament!" Dress up as your favorite Sunnydale resident (undead or
otherwise) and compete for fabulous prizes! Vote on which warm-up
episode we'll watch before the main event! Dance crazy in the aisles
and do what you've gotta do ... you're the star of the show!
"Buffy Goodie Bags," containing props and surprises to help you bring
the fun in, will be available for sale in the lobby. Help celebrate
Buffy's 10-year anniversary (it debuted in March, 1997 ... hey, we're
a month off, so sue us) by letting your freak flag fly at the BUFFY
SING-A-LONG!

Cheers,
Ashes

The Original packages are huge. they unfold and each dvd is on it's
own "page". The new ones are packaged like the new charmed seasons.
They come with three sleves, 2 dvd in each sleeve. Hope that helps.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you've said, "Boy, I
really wish I had a nice custom-made stake to dust this vampire with!",
or perhaps wanted to own an author-signed copy of a new hit book...or,
perhaps even better, an autographed advance copy of the sequel that
won't hit stores for months yet?

Then have we got a contest for you!

Author Colleen Gleason makes no secret of the inspiration which Buffy
has been in the formation of her new 'Gardella Vampire Chronicles', the
first book of which, THE REST FALLS AWAY, has just been published by
Penguin to rave reviews! Colleen tells us all about it in her exclusive
interview with SlayerLit.us <http://www.slayerlit.us/> ...but she also
tells us how her heroine, Victoria Gardella Grantworth, distinctly
differs from that other vampire slayer over in Sunnydale.

SlayerLit <http://www.slayerlit.us/> is offering the aforementioned
prizes to the winner of our little contest, and it's ridiculously easy
to enter: Just send us an Email and tell us, in your own words, one of
the ways in which Victoria differs from Buffy! No tricks! No gimmicks!
All you have to do is read the interview to find answers galore!

You have until April 2nd to enter...one entry per person, please. If
you have any questions, Colleen has graciously offered to help answer
them, so just drop her a line!

You'll find full details at our website. Good luck, and happy slaying!

discovered on her website www.valanys.com ? Funny enough it says it
can't be found in street shops ! As I understand it from friends it is
a very good book with characters inspired from Buffy, yet in a heroic
fantasy world. Has anyone of you Buffy fan guys any opinion on this
new heroine before I rush order it ?

I'm 99% sure that the content is the same on each of those DVDs are
the same. I think it is just a packaging difference. The "old school"
packaging did kind of waste a lot of room and cardboard. I recently
bought a slim packaging of Angel Season 3, and it was exactly the
same as the bulky one that I had borrowed from a friend a while back.
Actually, I like the new style better. It's easier to access each
disc, and not have to be an expert of oragami to put the packaging
back together.

Hi Mark,
I have the fatter sets, and the only thing I can tell you is they're packed in
this foldout case that is sort of cumbersome and they can fall out of it. and
they contain extras like commentary. not sure whether the slim case kind does,
altho i don't know why not.

Let me know if you got a good answer. Curious.
   Thanks,
   Nancy

I logged onto Amazon, and on the first page of listings, through the
second, there are two basic types of sets for individual seasons--
there is one, with a price range of around $35-40, then there is
another with pricing about $19.99; th only difference I see in the
listing is the cheaper one has in parenthesis "slim case".

Does this mean the only difference is in the way the DVD's are
packaged? I find it hard to accept that given the difference in price.

I e-mailed Amazon, and as I expected, they were absolutely no help
(they took 3 paragraphs to tell me they couldn't tell me anything!)

Hi all,

Is there anyone who might be able to answer a question about the
different DVD sets available?

I logged onto Amazon, and on the first page of listings, through the
second, there are two basic types of sets for individual seasons--
there is one, with a price range of around $35-40, then there is
another with pricing about $19.99; th only difference I see in the
listing is the cheaper one has in parenthesis "slim case".

Does this mean the only difference is in the way the DVD's are
packaged? I find it hard to accept that given the difference in price.

I e-mailed Amazon, and as I expected, they were absolutely no help
(they took 3 paragraphs to tell me they couldn't tell me anything!)

Hello.

I have about half of the books analyzing/critiquing Buffy and am about
to place an order for a few more. I've enjoyed most, but returned a
few (likely one or two of those on the list immediately below though I
don't remember which) as I thought they offered little insight into the
show. I'd appreciate any opinions (recommendations/which to avoid) on
any of the titles, especially the ones I dont' have, which include:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Philosophy (Popular Culture and Philosophy
Series): Fear and Trembling in Sunnydale

Blood Relations: Chosen Families in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel

Reading the Vampire Slayer: The Complete, Unofficial Guide to 'Buffy'
and 'Angel'

Fighting the Forces: What's at Stake in Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

Sex and the Slayer: A Gender Studies Primer for the Buffy fan

Also, I would appreciate any recommendations for books (the best book?)
critiquing/analyzing Angel as it's more difficult to search on the book
sites for those due to the title bringing up too many unrelated entries.

For the record, those I have and enjoyed are:

The Existential Joss Whedon
What Would Buffy Do?
Why Buff Matters/The Art of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Seven Seasons of Buffy--Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Discuss...
Hollywood Vampire/The Apocalypse--Unofficial Guie to the Final Season
of Angel

and just bought but haven't read:

Televised Morality/The Case of Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I'm not interested in anything like the Watchers Guides which just go
over episodes, trivia, lists, etc. (unless they offer something I don't
realize).

Thanks for any help.
Brett

With all the spazzing that has been going on for a few weeks once the
rumor started, that David Tennant was considering leaving after
series 4/30. I thought that ASH would be a great Doctor due to his
excellent acting skills and he would definitly banish Rupert Giles
forever. Don't flame me for that as I love Giles but feel ASH was not
used to the best of his abilities as an actor in that part. We all
know that he can segway from a serious moment to a absolutely
hilarious moment with ease. Little Britain anyone. Yes, he would be
the second oldest actor to take the role, right behind the Great
William Hartnell, but he is sexy in my book and would make a
fantastic Doctor.

If not the Doctor please bring him back in a recurring mode as Finch,
he was excellent in School Reunion.

What do you guys think?
