Jeremy, I went through the whole tutorial. Not only was I thoroughly entertained, I was duly informed and I now feel completely confident in the ordering process.
Hey.
Post from the message board. So check out the prices listed on the
news section. Will soon be able to buy tickets.
Prakash

And another update from the news section of the website:
"Just a bit longer
December 31, 2006
A lot of progress was made yesterday, but ended up with a bit of a
computer based setback today (crashed hard drive). In the mean time
here are links to our new reservation pages, they aren't hooked up to
the shopping cart yet, but feel free to have a look around, this
should help clear up some of the pricing too. Full event reservations.
Limited event reservations. Feel free to mull over this new info while
I get my main computer back online. - Jeremy"
And yes I really did loose my main hard drive, I'm a bit heartsick
(and sick with the flu and majorly sleep deprived to boot). My backup
is a couple of months out of date. Sad Thankfully virtually none of
the cruise stuff was on that drive. I did loose some Done the
Impossible source material. Sad Sad
I'm going to go to bed and get a few hours sleep, then in the morning
I should be able to connect the shopping cart and orders should be
able to resume, though we might be limited to PayPal. Although we are
accepting Credit Cards via PayPal. More details in a few hours.
HA! I think I finally actually beat bix at reporting my own news. Smile
-Jeremy
Jeremy has an update today in the News section of the Browncoat Cruise
website:
"We had to shut down our reservations temporarily due to a considerable
amount of confusion on how to order your passes properly. We have
redesigned the order form to be much more clear. We are doing some
final testing this morning and writing the documentation. We should be
back online and accepting reservations later today."
Hi.
Just in case you haven't seen the site or the forums, tis is from the
reservation page of the site:
"Due to a significant amount of confusion regarding standard cabin
types and persons per cabin, the reservation system has been put on
hold while we update and clarify the packages available. Also, it
turns out our yahoo store and the merchant account that accepted
credit cards were not communicating properly and none of the orders
placed via credit card on Dec 27, 2007 were charged. With all of the
confusion, this is probably a good thing, so we have canceled all
those orders and we will be starting fresh within 24-36 hours. Seating
order of those that attempted to order on Dec 27, will be maintained
if you re-order by Jan 12. Sorry about the bumpy start, we have
learned a lot and will endeavor to make "take 2" much less confusing.
Thank you for your patience. If you are one of the six orders that
used PayPal on Dec 27, your order went through okay, and we will be
contacting you to verify that you are indeed getting the packages you
are expecting. "
Prakash
Thanks for posting this Prakash. I was trying to get the site up and running before my flight left at the crack of dawn this morning and I forgot to post an announcement to this list. Not to worry, we haven't sold very many yet, so if you order soon you will still get very good seating.

I didn't even know abiut this till I checked one of the forums.

Well sort of Llionesss - if traveling by air, yes everyone arriving in
the U.S. needs a passport (even US citizens). However, traveling by
land or sea one doesn't until 2008. Silly me, I was thinking about
y'all returning to the U.S. at the end of the cruise, not how you'd get
to the start.
Thanks for the correction,

In fact, as of Jan. 1, 2007, Canadians entering the States
will need a passport.
I think most other countries have had to have a passport to enter the
U.S. for some time now?
Lioness
That is technically the case, but since our cruise is so close to the deadline and there are rumors that deadline might change, we are requiring passports for the browncoat cruise.

On the other hand, having a passport is a good idea. It is good backup ID in case you lose your driver's license, or for going on this or other trips, or even applying for a job in the U.S. (as proof of citizenship). After 1/1/08, you'll need one to travel outside the U.S. They're good for years. Check the U.S. State Dept. website for application information. Passports aren't cheap ($97 in fees), require photos and specific documents from you and take a lot of time to process. So start early. The link for more information is:

There is a formal dinner, but we are probably going to transform it into more of a masquerade shindig-like ball/dinner. Come in costume, preferably one from the shindig episode. More details soon.

1. After you include food and hotel, the cruise-con will be cheaper than a land con. In fact the cost should be so reasonable, that my hubby will be one of us instead of a mundane
2. I'm not sure we would do this again but we did take the same cruise (1-day less on the weekend) with another couple. The women slept on the twin beds and the men slept in the pull downs. Whoever sleeps above needs to have no fear of falling off (there is a railing and a ladder but still... not me).
Remember, it's like any other con, how often are you really in the room?
3. Most of the price questions can not be answered until Carnival starts planning for it.
4 http://www.scifi-cruises.com/ has a list of prices based on the rooms you want. I expect many will be willing to do 4-to a room and then split among themselves the total room cost (only after all four people have pre-paid as regular, and the difference be returned to them after the deadline OR the 3-4 people book together and if someone bails out, it would be up to the group to get a replacement or be stuck with the higher cost. Yes, I'm always prepared for the worst.
5. Passport is a must! It's not that hard. We went to Costco's photo department, they took a picture, we went to the Post Office to get the paperwork, they were friendly and helpful. We filled out the forms, brought them back to the post office along with proof of citizenship (which is when we learned that Eugene's citizenship papers from 1984 didn't have the Federal Seal on them- after we had cruised before and Customs never mention it). In a couple of months we got the passports and our citizenship papers back. Make it your New Year's resolution.
Yes it seems you will need to have a valid passport. Seeing as that can take upwards of six weeks to get back, longer if you have to track down your birth certificate, it might be best to put that one at the top of your list.

2nd & 3rd persons in the same room are usually discounted about 25%
However the discount for the 3rd person (no 4th allowed) on the fancy Suites is very significant (less than half the price of the 1st & 2nd persons).

Hi Lori,
Not an official answer for you, but how the ships usually work is that there are two twin beds in the lower-cost, inside or outside cabins, and you have the choice of having them in the twin set-up or pushed together to make a queen. The "bunk beds" (that fold down from the ceiling -- super fun!) are really for families with kids, and I wouldn't recommend fitting 4 adults into one of those cabins. In fact, I think there's a weight limit on those beds, so adults might not be possible anyway. (Although, I'm excited we could be able to say, "I'll be in my bunk," and actually mean it.)
I'm not certain about how it works booking with a group, as we will be, but usually the cost for adults will be about the same no matter how few or many you fit in one cabin, so we might as well try to spread out and keep it to two per cabin.
Hope that helps!

Those quad occupancies look *brutal*. I can't recall sleeping so tightly quartered since we tried to fit three generations of my family all in a Winnebago and my cousins and I were up in the towel cabinets over the beds!

I am so fraking excited about this. I am going on a diet immediately.
One, so I can look so very pretty, and two, so I can eat my self silly
with all the free food. I wonder if they will let anyone get married on
the ship?

... looks fantastic! For all the Browncoats who will be cruising
for the first time, the ship looks to be a fine way for them to
experience the grandness of being on a cruise. Why oh why does it
have to be a year away?! (Well, to give us something to look forward
to all year, I suppose.. ;)
Here is my favorite cruising site, Cruise Critic, where you can read
ALL about the ship:
http://cruisecritic.com/reviews/review.cfm?ShipID=5
Oh, and, hey everyone!

This is definately a convention I'm planning for next year. I'm trying
to cut back, but this one promises to be so shiny, I just can't keep
away! I love you guys and am looking forward to future information
about the cruise!
That is what I was going to ask also.
I am assuming that the Con price will include the Cruise cost? So it
will be higher than most Cons(but hey this will include FOOD!!)...but
freakin worth it.
I am so excited about this........Jeremy, you guys ROCK!!!

Hi.
Um, i dont seem to have troubles now. I have like a doezn questions
to ask, but I guess I will wait till january when they post more
information? I am assuming the con pass will include the cruise cost?
and if they get a block of suites, if they sell out, would they be
able to get more suites/spots? And looking at the prices, they
weren't kidding that Dec 1st would be one of the cheapest.
