Shawn(BGR) had suggested another double mailing
for December 1st. We are calling it THE DECEMBER
DELUGE!! and we ask that everyone DOUBLE thier letter
writing efforts on Wednesday, December 1st 1999. It is
posted on my site and Shawn's, and it will soon be on
the Callisto. Please visit my site for the current
primary addresses and a sample Revival letter.
<br><br>Also I will be attempting to go to the Big Apple Comic
Convention with Dirk Benedict one day this weekend (Probably
Friday) to meet him again and hand out BSG Revival
Flyers. The following week I will be a Supercon w/ Jack
Stauffer and Thanksgiving weekend at a Star Trek Con with
William Shatner in Brooklyn, I will be handing out Flyers
at both. I should have some pictures from all of
them in the coming weeks on the site. If anyone is
going to any of these please let me know, I will be in
my full warrior outfit and I should be easy to spot.
The Flyers are a great way to get others involved who
may be unaware of whats going on with the BSG
revival. Please download the updated copy from my site and
help to distribute it at Conventions and local comic
shops in your area. <br><br>Thanks <br>Chris Feehan

Um, why does a Viper need to walk when it can
already fly? And a Vipers air speed would likely be much
MUCH faster than its 'walking' speed. I appreciate
Larson and Moyer's attempt to bring back BSG, but I
prefer Hatch's less cockameme attempt in progress.

I extrapolated as many Emails as I could from the
naming conventions Universal and StudiosUSA seem to use.
All of them seemed to go through without a Delivery

Snail mail makes the most impact so try to send a

Over the past few weeks we have made some
progress in the Battlestar Galactica Revival letter
writing campaign. Some of us have gotten responses from
Dan Pasternack on behalf of Barry Diller. I recently
also heard from Ron Meyer's office by Phone, and from
Dan Fillie's office (see my Site). We seem to be
making some headway and I was told by Both Ron Meyer's
Office and Dan Fillie's office, that StudiosUSA owns the
Television rights to Battlestar. We MUST include some of
their top officials in our mailings and see if we can
assist Mr. Hatch in his efforts. It is our understanding
that Universal Studios owns the rights to any
Theatrical production, while StudiosUSA owns the rights to
any Television Production. We should try both so if
one falls through we have a shot at the other. Both
letters I received are up on the Articles page on my
site. <br><br>I have been compiling information for the
past few weeks regarding who else we should send to in
the Battlestar Galactica Revival letter writing
campaign. I have come up with quite a few additional names
at Universal and a bunch at StudiosUSA. I have
marked (*) who we consider the 7 most important at this
time to send to weekly, but if you have the time and
the means, please send to all of them at least once.
They are all on my site at the Revival Letter and
Address section. I sent out over 30 mails last week and I
am waiting for any further responses. Now is the
time to re-double our efforts and make our voice heard
by the powers that be at both companies.
<br><br><br>My site also has extensive updates including another
update to the Revival letter and Flyer to take this new
information into account. Please download the latest versions
and see some of the updated address listed on my
site. Also there have been some additions to the
Articles, my BSG Topps set, and a Second page has been
added to the Photo Gallery. On the new Page 2 I added
scans of some TV Guides, US, and some other related
articles from 1978. Don't forget to check out the "Walking

latest updates. <br><br><br>Thank You <br>Chris Feehan

The Photos and animation are of the walking viper
model created by BSGDAN to represent the Mech Warrior
Like walking Vipers that Todd Moyer refered to in his
August Interview on IGN. This seems to be one of the
"Updates" he wants to do to the BSG technology. Dan shows,
quite elegantly through his model what a ridiculous
idea it is, though probably not exactly what Moyer
intended, it does prove the point. Our message is why mess
with a good thing and corrupt it, just to add
something new. Hope you like the photos and the animation.
There are three photos and two Gifs, one that looks

<br><br>Article... <br>Getting Galactica Back in Space <br>Tuesday,
August 24, 1999 <br><br>Two veterans of the cult '70s
sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica are closer than ever
to reviving the franchise and getting the Galactica
back into space. <br>"The public has an unrequited
love affair with the show," Richard Hatch (Apollo)
tells TV Guide Online. His efforts to revive Galactica
came to a crossroads Aug. 13 when he screened a
privately financed "presentation film" at the San Diego
International Comic Con. "I don't think I've ever been through
something so emotionally powerful in my life."
<br><br>According to both Hatch and Jack Stauffer (Bojay), fans
gave the four-minute trailer a standing ovation which
included screaming, foot-stomping and weeping.
<br><br>Hatch reveals that the presentation film had its humble
beginnings in the Universal Hilton during a fan convention
called The Twenty Yahren Reunion. "We set up a blue
screen to get some shots of John Colicos [Baltar], but
there was a sax player blowing away next door for a
wedding. We rushed to get a clean take whenever he
rested." <br><br>The presentation film is intended to
promote a Battlestar revival based on a script co-written
by Hatch, but a competing vision is being touted by
original series producer Glenn Larson and Wing Commander
producer Todd Moyer. "We're not going to get in a verbal
war. We're just two vendors pitching a contract," says
Stauffer, defusing the heated rhetoric of some fans. Hatch
seconds that emotion, adding that fans "who loved the
"Wing Commander" game thought [about the movie], 'This
is the most God-awful thing to hit the face of the
Earth.' And Todd said, 'I'm going to do the same thing to
Battlestar.' So this is a fan war. The fight started with the
fans." <br><br>In fact, both actors said they wish Moyer
no ill will, claiming the more Battlestar the
better. "I've got some very plucky agents," Stauffer
says. "And about once a month they call and say, 'They
really liked you for that part, but they went with Beau
Bridges.' I get pretty tired of hearing that."— John Aboud

From www.cinescape.com ...<br><br>'Galactica'
Trailer Screened <br>Richard Hatch, who played Commander
Apollo on the Battlestar Galactica series and is now
spearheading an effort to breathe live back into the show,
screened a new extended version of the trailer for his
Battlestar Galactica: Second Coming project in San Diego
Friday. Much to their surprise, Cinescape staffers in
attendance were quiet impressed with what Hatch and his crew
put together. Though the acting seemed a bit over the
top and the CGI at times was a bit cheesy, I'm told
the teaser effectively evokes a sense of nostalgia
for the old show while at the same time whetting the
appetite for further adventures. Considering the quality
of some of the genre shows on TV today, the
Cinescape staffers at the viewing came away with the
feeling that Hatch's concept deserves a serious shot at
development. Hopefully it will be uploaded to the Battlestar
Galactica site sometime in the future, but for now it was
explained that issues involving the Screen Actor's Guild
have made distribution of the teaser impossible.

On Why People Still Love The Show: "It makes
perfect sense to me. Because this show had a heart. It
had a spirit. It wasn't just special effects. It
really tapped in to the human spirit; overcoming
incredible odds to do incredible things. We are asked to do
incredible things in this world and face our fear. So I
finally said, 'This show deserves a real second chance.
It deserves a chance, a terrain, a topography that
now is receptive to science fiction.'" <br><br>On
Glen Larsen's Galactica Project: "There's very
sensative negotiations going on right now. There's a lot of
confusion at Universal in terms of the legalities, the
rights. You have no idea of the position that Universal
is in right now. I don't think they ever expected to
do anything with Battlestar. <br><br>"When we
started bringing this back three years ago nobody was
interested in Battlestar. We went from meeting to meeting to
meeting to meeting talking about it, pitching it. I met
with so many people at Universal, but you finally
realize that you are meeting with a lot of people but
it's like leading you in Alice In Wonderland. You
wonder where it's going and who has the final decision
making power. <br><br>"And then we discovered that
Universal was not even clear on their rights. It was not
clear about who had what [rights]. There's a
relationship between [USA network/Sci-Fi Channel honcho] Barry
Diller's company and Universal in terms of the old show
being possibly the auspices of Universal and the new
show being the auspices of Barry Diller's company for
TV. Theatrically, the information that we got -- we
don't know if it is definative -- was basically that
Universal has the rights to the theatrical [version].
<br><br>"Then Glen Larsen and Todd Moyer enter the picture in
about February. And the funny part of it is that Glen
had met with me a year earlier and I told him about
what we were doing and he had told me from his heart,
sitting there having a wonderful dinner after we did a
thing for the Sci-Fi Channel ... he told me that, 'I
sold all my rights to Universal' and he told me that
he was not in a position to do it at that time. Now,
I don't know what that meant. All I know is that he
was not in a position to go forward at that time. We
were willing and ready to go forward at that time and
then about several months later Todd Moyer came to me,
sent me a fax, said to me, 'I did Wing Commander, I
did a project in Luxembourg and it's coming out in
three months and it's this great movie, Wing Commander,
and I can do this and this and this', he says, 'I can
open doors for you at Universal. I can put the deal
together, the money, everything.' After listening to him, I
said, 'Okay, fine, I'll have a meeting with you Monday
or Tuesday.' I was a little bit, just a little,
nervous because it sounded like he was more interested in
the deal then in the heart of the show. But I was
still willing to meet with him because you need a
strong business relationship ... so I wanted to meet
with him but I never got the phone call. Never got the
meeting. Never heard any more from Todd Moyer until three
months later and there was a big ad in the trades saying
that Glen Larsen and Todd Moyer were doing a new
Battlestar Galactica movie. <br><br>"I will say I'm not in
competition with anybody. I think there's room for everybody
in this universe and world. As far as I know they
are doing the Commander Cain and Pegasus story, and
what I really want to do is I want to bring back the
heart of Battlestar with the original Battlestar
Galactica cast and crew." <br><br><br>Thanks<br>CureMode

From www.cinescape.com ...<br> <br>Hatch Talks
'Battlestar' <br>Richard Hatch passionately addressed a wide
number of issues regarding his Battlestar Galactica
revival series plans in front of an enthusiastic audience
Friday at the San Diego Comic Con. Here is a quick
breakdown of some of his comments: <br><br>On Talk of
Galactica Being A Star Wars Ripoff: "Everything, in a way,
is a little bit of a ripoff, because we're inspired
by great things, are we not? When you saw Star Wars
didn't you start writing something or reading other
books? Didn't you come up with ideas that inspired you
to do something? When you love something it makes
you want to do something. <br><br>"Now is that a
ripoff if you take an idea that you get from something
that you see? I'm sure George Lucas didn't just live
in a little hole and get this idea for Star Wars. He
was inspired by many, many, many, many books that he
read. You know, [Disney's animated ducks] Huey, Dewey
and Louie kind of remind me a little bit of Artoo
Detoo. The point is [that there's nothing wrong with]
taking ideas and being inspired and going and evolving
it and developing it into something new, something
fresh. I don't care what anybody says Battlestar was
something fresh." <br><br>On The Importance Of Including
The Old Cast: "Billy Mumy wanted to bring back Lost
In Space [a few years ago]. For two years, three
years he kept going to the studios, going everywhere,
to bring back that show. Well, he finally got them
excited, finally woke them up, shook them out of their
lethergy, got them really excited about [the project] and
then the went and made it. Without him. Now the
problem is, as with all things, nobody wants to think
something was successful because of what was. Nobody wants
to think their project was successful because of the
cast or the story. They want to think that something
was successful because it came from them. They made
it over in their own image and likeness. It's their
thing. So that's fine. I think somebody should do their
thing and be successful at it and be proud of it. But
you cannot sit there and [disgard] the wonderful
things that we all love ... it's like ripping the heart
out of a story and then making it over in your own
image and likeness and putting the same title on it and
then you, the fan, comes and sees a remake of a movie
and you feel ripped off, do you not? When you see the
very thing that you loved about that show destroyed?"
<br><br>On His Right To Revive Galactica: "Now nobody has
the quintessential vision for anything. There are so
many people, thank God, so many wonderful writers and
creative artists have seen the show and they have their
own ideas and their own visions and their own way of
looking at it. And every single one of them is right.
Nobody is right [in claiming] one of them has only THE
way. <br><br>"Who am I to step up and do this? I've
had people say that, 'Who are you, Richard Hatch? Who
are you?' I say back to them, 'You know who I am? I
am you. And you have the right to step out and go
after something you believe in. You have the right to
embrace your ideas, your vision, and go for it. You have
the right to step up, and when you do that everybody
who is not stepping out after their vision, everyone
that doesn't have the courage to go forth, is going to
try to shoot you down. They are going to try to level
you because it is scary when anybody breaks out of
the status quo and goes for their dream. <br><br>"The
biggest thing I have learned is that you think everyone
is going to support you and then you find out that
everyone is ready to try to take a potshot at you. And
friends are doing it. Everybody is coming at you with
their fear, with their own fear of failure."

Another possible breakthrough occurred Saturday
in the media. I had sent letters to everyone at Cnet
central (9AM EST on Sci Fi Sat and Sun) two weeks ago and
then again a week ago, about doing a story about BSG
fans and the efforts by Richard Hatch to revive the
show. It was that same email I have been sending about
how it's an Online phenomena. Anyway on this
morning's episode around 9:15 AM they had a story about
celebrities online and David Bowie. In the intro Daphne
Bragdon said "I can remember my excitement getting to
Chat online with Richard Hatch from Battlestar
Galactica" or something to that effect. I cannot believe
that this is a simple coincidence, where would she
possibly come up with him. I think we should all try and
pursue this and send letters thanking her for the
mention and asking for a story about the revival effort.
It is Internet related and the Internet is the main
way we coordinate our efforts. It was on again Sunday
August 15th at 9AM est on Sci-Fi. <br><br>I uploaded the

Sir, is that a picture of a Stealth cylon and I definately want to see the new
Battlestar movie, it sounds like it will be based somewhat on Armaggeddon.

I am a fan of Battlestar Galactica and I want to
see it return with the ORIGINAL CAST & THEMES.
Battlestar Galactica originally aired from 1978-1980. Since
then there has been an effort to try to revive the
show in it's original form. Richard Hatch "Captain
Apollo" has been working for the past few years to have a
new Battlestar Galactica television series or movie
project put into production. His vision is to ignore the
events in Galactica 1980 and continue the original story
line 20 years later with the original cast, some new
faces, and even deadlier Cylons. He has raised over 60
million dollars in commitments and has reunited the
original cast to reprise their roles in the project. Mr.
Hatch has already produced a trailer for his proposed
Battlestar Galactica project and the reaction so far has
been fantastic. <br><br>Recently there has been an
renewed interest in the Science Fiction genre, due in
part by the release of Star Wars:The Phantom Menace.
Due to the timing of this renewed interest,
Battlestar Galactica could be the next big Sci-Fi franchise,
filling the void left by Star Trek:Deep Space Nine and
the three-year wait for the next Star Wars Episode.
In the past few years a lot has happened to indicate
people are interested, more than ever before, in
Battlestar Galactica and related merchandise. Since 1996
many new products have been released related to
Battlestar Galactica, MCA has re -released most of the
original episodes on home video and the original movie on
DVD, a line of action figures and toys by
Trendmasters, a comic book series by Realm Press, and a trading
card set by Dart Flipcards, among many others. It
seems that between 1996-1999 there has been an
increasingly renewed interest in the show since it originally
aired in 1978. Battlestar Galactica celebrated its 20
year anniversary in September of 1998 and to celebrate
there are conventions throughout 1999 to commemorate
this event. <br><br>Currently the only thing hindering
the project is Universal Studios indecision in giving
Richard the rights to produce it. Please consider Mr.
Hatch's project and support his efforts to produce a new
Battlestar Galactica. He envisions a movie followed by a
possible syndicated series, and with the shows original
premise intact, fans will be eager with anticipation.
Millions of fans, including myself, around the world want
to see Battlestar Galactica return with the ORIGINAL
CAST & THEMES. This is exactly what Mr. Hatch intends
to do, and his project is the only one acceptable to
fans. Please listen to the fans that want to see this
classic Sci-Fi show return, and support Richard Hatch in
his efforts to do so.<br>Please check out the links

get involved.<br><br>Thank You<br>Chris
