Got some great comments. Thanks guys!
One note it was mentioned that Ron Moore considered Galactica Arriving at
earth in the present day. If the scenario mentioned (They get nuked by us is
correct, perhaps it's better that was put in file 13). But the general idea had
so much potential. The clash of civilzations, culture, religions, a near
bottomless sea of dramatic potential. One can imaginge good people on both
sides trying to bring together a alliance against the Cylons, with villians on
both sides complicating things.
Well, perhaps it's best Moore didbn't go down this road. I read into his
musing that he had no respect for the military, and despite his efforts to hang
mystic trappings all over the place, for religion either. And that's one thing
I liked about the original Galactica, Adama was a man of great faith (Check out
the series on DVD, the unaired delected scenes showed this well). Compare this
to new Trek where the characters only had faith in themselves, nothing higher.
Well, there's a rumour that Glen Larson wants another crack at the series.
Here's hoping!
