ust stumbled across this club (doing a search
for all my favorite things) and I've already marked
my calendar for the 4th of January...please say you
all are still planning to chat again :) I've been a
Battlestar fan for ages, and am quite distraught that I
don't get the Sci Fi channel...and have to rely on
ancient tapes that I made of the program from when it was
in syndication in the early 80s (on very early model
vcr that is about as big as my car!) But its great to
see that its return to the "air"-waves on Sci Fi is
creating a new generation of fans.
f those books. Welcome to the little group. Would you be interested in doing a
message board based rpg? You have to be an original character, not one from the
show. Let me know.
I, or The Galactica Ark?
The first one - noah ark
II(1954), was a good book written by Glen A. Larson (before
any idea of a tv show).
but it was rejected. the
second one - the galactica ark(1967), was re-written by
Larson with Isaac Asimov, mostly some of the stuff from
the Foundation's series to made it better.
The org

was thinking about starting one here. Everyone
can come up with their own Colonial Warrior
character. I don't sugest using already excisting
characters, because most of us will want to be Starbuck. You
can be related to a favorite character however. Does
anyone like the sound of this? Please post and let me
know, or email me.
heck the calendar, please. I plan on having a chat on the 4th of every month,
except for weekends. The chats will start at 7 pm, and will go til 10. Unless we
run out of stuff to talk about.
or the invite. Looks like gailen is here in
character :)

Perhaps this is where you can hide me
out til the operation is over? that way I won't get
grafitti all over my clean armor :)
don't have an idea, but it was suposed to be
based on the screenplay. I do know that there are at
least 14 novels based on the series, including the
sucky Galactica 1980 series. This IS NOT including the
2 novels by Richard Hatch, both written recently.
The novels are pretty good, with a majority of them
novelizations of tv scripts. The original storyline ones are
not bad either. Hatch's books (Or book, as I have
only read the first one so far) was FANTASTIC.
One
word of note: only one of the novels was based on
Galactica 1980- the pilot episode in fact. In my personal
opinion one of the only 2 decent episodes to be made. The
other is "The Return Of Starbuck", which is the best
one of them.
just recently read the orignal novalization
(sp)? of the Movie... picked up at a yard sale... and

perhaps?
remeber about the Seventh or Eight time I saw
the original movie (in the theatre)... they had just
re-released it in Sensorsound (sp?)... wich was the
audio-effect developed for the movie "Earthquake" that made
the audience feel deep-pitch rumbling from a special
audio-track on the film.. I remeber they agmented some ofthe
battle-scenes in Galactica with this effect...

Also... I
have been following and reading some (but not all) of
the Maximum Press comics.. I must say they are very
well written...

KryptonianFletch
he pilot was released in Europe as a theatrical
release. As for any new stuff, all I can tell you is that
Richard "Apollo" Hatch is trying to get a new Galactica
series off the ground. He is the author of 2 novels, and
written a comic book miniseries. There are also comics
available currently as well. Maximum Press put out the
first several miniseries. Now Realm Press has it. The
artwork in all of the comics by both companies is real
good, but don't expect the characters to look like the
actors that portrayed them. There were clauses in their
contracts that their images could NOT be used in any future
publications. Richard Hatch also has his own webpage for
Galactica. I don't have the address available right off, but
there is a link to it on my webpage. The address to it
is on my profile.Hope this information was helpful.
think that Battlestar had the distiction of
being one of the only TV shows to have it's Pilot be
shown in theatres... does anyone know the background to
this... ie. why it was put out as a film before it
premiered...

Also... are there any plans/roumours of a made-for-TV
Update Movie... anyone...?

Great club by the
way!

Fletch
e now have a calendar to schedual stuff on. I'm going to set up a chat date and
time. It will be posted on it. Please check it regularly for events, and chats.

ey Nathan, I went to the club, and tried to
join, but I had some problems. Thanks for letting us
know about it. Have you been to Richard Hatch's
Galactica page yet? I don't remember the address to it
right now, but there is a link to it on my page. Go
check it out. My tour also has a couple of Galactica
sites on it, as well. You might like them.
