First, congratulations to Vee for winning.
Second, didn't Neleh look completely different at
the live show? Great hair do!
Third, I think it was interesting that religion
figured in to the final voting. John and Tammy both
called them both hypocrites (and I'm sure the General
was thinking the same). On one side is the
misconception that one cannot be a Christian and be
competitive at the same time. Blatant dishonesty and
betrayal are unChristian. But most of what Vee and
Neleh did was play the game. Did John and Tammy think
that if they were real questions they would roll over
and let them (John and Tammy) win instead?
Fourth, out of the ones I've seen, this one had
more comments than questions. And the comments did
not reveal who the person was voting for; it was
either positive toward both or negative toward both.
Fifth, I always dreaded seeing Bryant Gumbel show
up for the reunion special following each one. When
he left CBS morning, I thought someone else would take
the place; could there be a worse host(ess)? The
answer is yes, and her name is Rosie! I personally
would prefer Jeff, who has gotten to know them, to be
the one to host the reunion.
Sixth, I think God intervened at one tribal
council. It seemed unfair that Paschal was the one
who lost--yet, with him collapsing, it was obviously
best for him not to have been in the final three!
Seventh, Neleh brought out a good point (connected
to #3) that some thought she was sweet until she
became competitive. It does seem to be more
pronounced when the person is a woman. (People can
see those like Reggie White the football player as
both nice but a tough competitor.) A person can be
both at the same time.
Finally, some quick observations. I didn't mind
seeing Vee win, though I was rooting for Neleh. I am
uncomfortable with Vee's attitude that she can do
something wrong and then ask forgiveness; that is not
how the Christian life should be lived, though some
say some black churches have that attitude. My
opinion of Tammy went way down with her comments, and
Zoe's comments improved my views of her.
