CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Albemarle native and country music star Kellie Pickler will
have one of the country's most famous New Year's Eve assignments this year,
according to a report this morning from USA Today.
The Lifeline Blog at USA Today reported this morning that Pickler will work with
Dick Clark and AI host Ryan Seacrest on "Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve With Ryan
Seacrest." The show airs on ABC-TV at 10 p.m. Dec. 31, and Pickler will be the
program's correspondent in Times Square, according to USA Today.
Pickler, of course, came to fame as a Season 5 contestant on "American Idol,"
hosted by Seacrest.
Seacrest took a lead role in the annual Dick Clark New Year's Eve show after
Clark suffered a stroke a few years ago.
The New Year's Eve gig is the latest in a string of big deals for Pickler.
She has been nominated for the Best New Artist award by the Country Music
Association. And her latest single, "Don't You Know You're Beautiful," is at or
near the top of country music charts.
And on Saturday night, she will appear with country star Trace Adkins in the
debut episode of "Into the Circle," a program which pairs established performers
with newcomers. In the show, the established performers tutor newcomers on the
business.
"Into the Circle" can be seen in the Charlotte area at 10 p.m. Saturday on GAC,
a cable network. Time-Warner Cable customers in Charlotte need digital service
to see GAC, as it is channel 185. GAC also is seen on the Dish Network.
