Hello, everyone.
I first caught on to the character of Wonder Woman in the mid-1970s,
primarily because of the television series. Lynda Carter was, and
is, truly the living, breathing embodiment of Wonder Woman.
I developed such a crush on both of them, that I could only share it
with my schoolmates, because if I had told my parents, they would not
have reacted too kindly, especially my father, who, as I found out
years later, did not believe in crushes.
It wasn't until 2001, however, that my feelings for both of them
started all over again. I began ordering the series on home video,
and I began saying the name "Wonder Woman" over and over. Praise
Athena, that's such a magical name!
In the fall of 2001, I purchased the oversize special issue, "Spirit
of Truth", by Paul Dini and Alex Ross, and it was so beautiful.
Really, it was.
I began talking about it with my friends, and one of them suggested
that since I love Wonder Woman so much, I should dress as her for
Halloween. I didn't say no, but I didn't say yes, either. Instead,
I let the idea age like fine wine, and the next day, I said, "Let's
play dress up for Halloween. If I have to dress that way, so do
you. Loser buys the winner dinner." She agreed.
For the next year, I prepared for the event, and by Halloween 2002, I
was ready. At the contest, I dwas dressed as the Princess of the
Amazons, and she wasn't!
It worked so well, that I've been dressing in the red, white and blue
for Halloween every year since. That's how dedicated I am to the
character. In fact, I would base my whole life on her teachings.
I still love Wonder Woman, and I am still a fan of Lynda Carter. I
would love to meet her someday and say, "Thank you, Lynda. Thank
you, Wonder Woman."
I look forward to hearing from you.
