Rocky laid still on top of his selected roof top overlooking an
extremely posh party in Prague, Czech. Why in the world he had to
leave the party to handle this mission got past him. He could've done
it so much easier from within the building, no assault rifle needed.
No matter, he'd get the job done and be back inside just in time for
no one to miss him. He'd taken his tux jacket off and found the
blanket that had been covering up his rifle easily. Assembling it had
taken him less than a minute before he laid down on the blanket to
keep his shirt from getting dirty. Sizing up his target, Rocky took
two small controlled breathes as he took aim.
Rocky took his shot, a direct hit. Disassembling his weapon, he put
it back the way he'd found it and took off. He easily slid back into
the building undetected.... or so he thought. As the searing pain
ripped through his torso, Rocky turned to face the person who'd just
fired at him. With a growl, he turned the gun on his attacker just as
the other man fired. He quickly went down as Rocky raced out of the
building.
He found the first back alley that had been marked on his escape
route and ran down it. Looking back for a moment, he was glad to see
that for now he wasn't being followed. That wouldn't last though, he
knew it for a fact. He had to get to the safe house, but he needed to
call in and let his handler know that he'd been made. Conituing his
hard run down the back roads, Rocky finally found a pay phone about
two miles away from the hotel that the party had been held in. Double
checking, he made his way over and began dialling in the number.
"I've been made. Will rendeavux at the select destination. Extraction
needed..... I'm hit." he stated before hanging up. He again took off
at a hard run, holding his side as he made his way towards the safe
house.
OOC: Figured I'd see if we could get going again.
Rocky had come to the stables hoping to find some solitude before his next mission. He knew it'd be the last chance he quite possibly had for awhile. Then of course he'd once again end up being cornered by Emma, the lovely older woman who owned the stables where he kept his beloved horses, Aja and Enkil. The kind, old, Irish woman was always trying to hook him up with some of the younger ladies that rode horses there, but he found himself turning down every attempt that she made. He knew that her heart was in the right place, yet Rocky didn't think he deserved love. Everyone who'd ever mattered to him had died.
Today of all days, Rocky just needed some peace and quiet. He'd worn his most comfortable riding clothes: a pair of very worn out blue jeans with holes beginning to form underneath the back pockets, a white wife beater, and a black button down shirt. He was hoping to just take Aja and then Enkil out of the trails for a nice long ride. All hope of that ended when he spotted Emma had come upon him in Aja's stall.
"Aye lad, I see you've come to be with your beauties again today." the kind, old lady said as she stopped in front of the stall. She had a soft smile on her face as she watched the young man busily brushing Aja's mane.
"Yes, Emma. I've missed them terribly and knew that I'd be leaving again very soon. I didn't want to go and not see Aja and Enkil again." Rocky replied. He finished brushing Aja and went to grab her blanket and saddle. "And please don't try and set me up with anymore of the women around here. I appreciate it greatly, Emma, but I'll find my own way as I usually do." he told her. Emma had always held a soft spot in Rocky's heart, she'd been more like a grandmother to him in the past few years. And he was glad to have her in his life. She'd never know how much he'd come to care for her over the years.
Lydia pulled up to the small little stable; she had found it a while ago when she first moved to LA. It was about a half an hour outside of LA in the more rural areas. She didn't have her own horse…yet. Lyd grew up on a horse ranch in Colorado and actually sat on a horse before she could walk. So riding to her was a piece a cake and she absolutely loved it.
But now that she was more settled she had wanted to get back into riding and her parents were willing to give her one of their young horses anyone she wanted. The only catch was she had to go and visit them. Which was harder said than done. But a part of her really wanted to visit her parents and now with Devon back maybe she could drag him along with her.
She stepped out of her car once she parked with her ridding gear on. Lyd went to her trunk and pulled out her mountain horse riding boot and pulled her shoes off before zipping her boots on. She walked into the barn hoping to find Emma. The older woman was a sweetheart and the past few months she had gotten pretty close to her. She had a good arrangement with Emma, riding wise. Emma had a young Oldenburg stallion that was a little stronger than Emma could handle but Lydia offered to ride him whenever she got a chance to come out. One she would be able to ride a horse whenever she wanted and two the stallion would get worked down so Emma would be able to either ride him or sell him for some good money.
Emma smiled as she spotted Lydia walking into the stables. She turned back to Rocky. "Come now, child. You know I have good taste, and I happen to have found the perfect young lady for you." she told Rocky after having seen Lydia coming into the stables.
Rocky had noticed the young woman walking in, but paid her no attention. "I'm sorry, Emma. But not right now. I'm just not ready for something like that." he stated. He finished getting Aja ready and was now ready to go out on the trails.
Lydia walked over and grabbed the leather halter off Diablo's stall and started walking down the aisle heading towards the back door to head out to the stallions pasture. She spotted Emma and slowed up smiling. "Hey Emma. Thought I'd come ride Diablo today."
"'Ello sweetheart." Emma smiled brightly. "Haven't seen you in a while. He's missed you. Sometimes I think he loves you more than me."
Lydia laughed. "Ya I've been really busy." She looked into the stall seeing a man she hadn't seen before standing there with a horse.
"Well it's good to see you, sweetheart. Perhaps you can talk Rocky here into showing you some of the more advanced trails." Emma stated bluntly, motioning to the man behind her.
Rocky could've literally groaned. Emma had a knack for trying to set certain riders up, something she was really good at in fact. But Rocky always managed to avoid such happenings. Apparently, Emma wasn't going to let him go this time.
Lydia just smiled and looked at the man behind her, but he didn't look to happy about what Emma suggested. "Na that's ok." She grinned. "I'll probably just work on some ground work with D." Lyd smirked and shifted the halter more onto her shoulder.
Rocky was practically ready to thank her in person for turning down Emma's offer. Though it wouldn't surprise him if she tried to changed the other womans mind.
"Are you sure? This young man knows every trail out here." Emma stated. "He's been here for quite a few years. Even found a beautiful spot about two miles out with a gorgeous view of the city." Emma replied, doing her best to change Lydia's mind.
"Emma, I don't think she wants to go and see the view by the lake." Rocky told the older woman. "Let her enjoy her ride."
Lydia laughed. "I'm sure he just wants to do his thing as well." She smiled at Rocky feeling that he wasn't feeling the idea. "Plus I haven't ridden Diablo in like a week, so I'm not sure how well he'd be." She smiled and let down her hair fixing it back up into a ponytail.
Rocky nodded as he watched Emma's smile disappear. He knew that she was upset that they were both turning her down, but he'd told her numerous times that he didn't want to be set up. He turned his attention to Lydia. "You let me know if you want to try those trails out later. Diablo should be able to handle any of them. He's like my Enkil, tough and doesn't let anybody say he can't do something.
"Oh I know… I've been riding him for a while." Lydia explained to him. It wasn't that she thought he couldn't be able to handle the trail, quite the opposite. His training was coming along extremely well and she didn't want to go ruin it by bumming around on the trail right off the bat she wanted to work him first. "Maybe I'll ride out and meet up with you later." She offered hoping to make Emma happy as well.
Rocky nodded his head. It sounded like a fair idea, and should satisfy Emma if she atleast thought there was a chance the two would meet up later. Rocky mounted Aja and nodded his head to Lydia. "I'll be back later, Emma to take Enkil out."
Lydia nodded back and watched him leave before looking back at Emma. "You enjoy this way too much don't you?" She asked with a smirk. "You know I have plenty of guys to choose from in LA."
"Of course I enjoy making sure that two very deserving people end up happy. And what a coincedence because Rocky's also from LA. I think he's just too.... I wouldn't say wounded, but somewhere near there to actually go after a woman. If you know what I mean." Emma stated matter of factly as she too watched Rocky ease Aja out of the stables. "He's a sweetheart though, won't show it to anyone...." Emma said more to herself than to Lydia.
"I noticed." Lydia smiled and looked at Emma once again. "So are you going to watch some of his training today or are you doing other things?" She asked, knowing Emma liked to watch her ride him occasionally to see how his progress was doing. Lyd loved Diablo; he would be the type of horse she'd buy for herself. One of those stubborn yet sweet horses who got attached to one rider. Emma had almost gotten rid of him several times before Lydia arrived and offered to ride him. At first Emma said no because he had thrown three previous riders and she didn't want her to get hurt, but Lyd preceded and finally won her over.
"I might for a bit on one condition.... You take Diablo up to the lake. I'm sure he'd like it." Emma replied with a smile. She did indeed love to watch Lydia take him out and work with him, but she was also trying to look out for Rocky. He was one of the finest riders at her stables, if not one of the most stubborn. She knew he needed a good woman to tame him, and thought that Lydia was perfect for him. Not that either of the two "youngsters" would admit to it.
Rocky in the meantime had taken his time riding up to the lake. He enjoyed the view and found the peace and solitude of the spot to be the perfect place. He'd only shown the spot to Emma once, but was pretty sure she could find it again if she wanted to. No one else though had been up here as far as he knew.
"Fine…" She smirked and shook her head. "I'll take him up there." Lydia started walking away heading towards the back door with Emma in toe. "I've never seen him here before, but you said he's been here for years."
"Good... you're a good kid." Emma replied with a smirk of her own. Emma began to follow Lydia outside to watch as she trained Diablo. She had been considering selling Diablo again, but this time it was more of atleast being able to keep him in her stables and with someone she trusted. "Yes, Rocky has been here for the past five or six years. He is or atleast he was a member of the LAPD. I think he's left the force though, not too sure. He's not really one to talk much about himself. .... And I really don't know all that much about the lad, though I'm sure that you can get him to open up a bit."
Lydia caught the large dark bay stallion. He wasn't quite black but he was close enough than anyone would have guessed he was, but he had mahogany brown color to some of his body not making him a true black color. She smiled at Emma as they walked back into the barn so Lydia could tack him up for their training session. "He didn't look very social." She chuckled as she put Diablo in his secluded stall in the barn before grabbing a few brushes.
Emma chuckled before making her response. "I'm sure that you can more than handle him, Lydia." She thought over it a bit. "He's probably more rough around the edges, but I have faith in you, sweetheart. That lad needs someone good in his life."
"Well thanks I think…" Lydia laughed reaching her arm up to brush off Diablos' back that was just about level with the top of her head; he was huge well over 17hands height. "You probably have other stuff to do besides stand around here with me." She smirked and walked out of the stall closing the door before locking it, setting all her brushes back down in the brush box next to the stall.
Emma laughed along with the younger woman as she watched her with Diablo. She knew that Lydia and Diablo were doing wonderfully and had no problem leaving Lydia with the horse. "I'm sure that I can find some paperwork to take care of in my office." Emma replied taking the hint. "Have a good ride, Lydia."
"Oh you know I will." Lydia laughed and headed for the tack room grabbing the dressage saddle from its rack and headed back to the stall to tack Diablo up. Within a few minutes she had his saddle and bridle on, and then grabbed her whip that was leaning against the stall and started leading him out of the barn.
She was always thankful for being athletic so she could get on him without using a mounting block or bucket. Lydia looked at the outdoor ring then looked at the path heading up to the trails and sighed slowly stirring him towards the path. She could still work on things as she rode up to the lake, so it wouldn't be a complete waist. Diablo was like the dressage type horse that any serious dressage rider would want. He had gaits to die for, and his over all body structure was perfect with a slight upwards lift to his front end. Lydia loved riding him and he learned extremely fast, which was a great quality for stallions.
Rocky had climbed off of Aja and tied her reins to a strong tree branch. He sat on top of a nearby rock formation and looked out over the city as Aja nibbled on the grass around her. He loved the view from up here, no one could touch him. He contemplated over his newest mission. In a little over a day he'd be stuck in a tuxedo at the Turkish embassy. He hated wearing the tux, but it was all apart of the job that he lived to do. Rocky was a complete adrenaline junky, and marks like this always got his juices pumping.
Lydia slowly worked Diablo as they walk, trot, and cantered through the trails working on bending, roundness, and softness. She really wasn't even paying attention to where she was going before she noticed she had just passed the lake on her left and came to a quick stop. Lyd noticed Rocky sitting on a rock formation near the lakes edge. She slowly turned Diablo around and headed back to the lake and over to him noticing his mare Aja tied to a tree and made sure to stay clear of her so Diablo didn't decided he'd rather go over there than where she wanted him to go.
Rocky had heard Lydia and Diablo come upon the lake, but didn't make a move. He waited a moment to see if she was going to leave, but when she didn't he finally decided to say something. "I see Emma managed to talk you in to coming up here."
"I promised her I would. You know her." Lydia laughed and patted Diablos thick neck as she stopped behind Rocky. "I'm Lydia by the way, since Emma really didn't tell you my name." She said not getting off her horse, not planning to stay that long.
Rocky turned, sensing Diablo directly behind him. He looked up and almost smiled at Lydia. "Rocky. Though I'm sure Emma's already told you that and much more." he replied, a somewhat soft smile appearing on his face. "I've tried to tell her she needs to stop trying to use her match making skills on me, that they don't work.... but you know Emma."
"Oh yes many many times within the last twenty minutes." Lydia smiled down at him. "I thought I'd just stop and say hi, and at least I said I saw you. So it keeps Emma happy."
"And as long as Emma's happy, hopefully we'll all be happy and she'll stop playing Cupid." Rocky replied. He stood up and jumped off of the rock formation. He walked over to Aja and untethered her from the tree. "I'll ride down with you, that should make her very happy."
Lydia chuckled, "as long as Diablo behaves himself around your mare." The last thing she needed was for him to get studly on her knowing there was a girl around. That was one thing she didn't want to deal with.
Rocky nodded his head as he climbed astride his mare. "Yes, we wouldn't want Emma to get thrilled about these two mating on us all of a sudden. I'll stay behind you just in case." he suggested as he rode up beside her.
"That would be great." Lydia smiled at him sincerely at him before heading back down the trail staying ahead of Rocky and his horse. "So Emma says you live in LA." She glanced back at him before making Diablo work a little bit so he stayed focused. He wasn't even five yet and his attention span was not that great especially with a mare behind him.
Rocky made sure to keep Aja behind Diablo. The last thing he needed was for his mare to end up pregnant, not that it'd be a bad thing. It was just that he wasn't ready for all of that. "Yes, I do." he replied, not giving a full answer. He kept to himself at all possible, and the less information he gave to anybody including Emma the better. It was just that the older woman had her ways of getting info out of him without him realizing it. He slowed his pace a bit more, trying to help Lydia keep Diablo's focus to where it should be.
"I live in LA too." Lydia said over her shoulder trying to make some small talk before flexing Diablos' next back and forth a few times to keep him on track.
Rocky nodded his head, then made a verbal response as he realized she couldn't see his motion. "It's a great city. That and I'm always closer to work. I love the country, especially out here, but I wouldn't want to have to make a drive like this on a daily basis."
"I completely understand." Lydia answered picking up a trot heading down the trail slowly. Diablo become lathered in sweat from his trail ride workout.
Rocky kept up his trot behind Lydia, keeping a close eye on her form. He could tell that she was an expert rider. "Where'd you learn to ride like that?" he asked out of sudden curiosity.
"Well my parents own a horse farm in Colorado and they taught me a lot. But also the horse trainer that they hired taught me a lot, and then I started taking lessons with a local Dressage instructor." Lydia smirked back at him. "I was pretty much born on a horse."
"Well I'll be damned...." Rocky muttered under his breath. They had more in common than he wanted to admit. Of course he wouldn't admit it to Lydia either. "Then looks like Diablo is in more than capable hands." he said aloud.
"That's why Emma lets me ride him. He bucked off the last three trainers." She said as she spotted the farm off in the distance. "Plus he's a piece of cake compared to some of the horses I've ridden."
"I'm not surprised. I saw all three of them get bucked too. They offered me money to ride Enkil. Had to tell them that my insurance wasn't going to cover their broken bodies. He's just about as stubborn as Diablo, if not more so." He saw the farm not too far off from where they currently were. "Enkil would give you a run for your money.... unless you knew his secret."
"I don't know…. I've had some pretty nasty horses." Lydia laughed. "I had this one mare when I was a teenager who used to only backup, she would not go forward no matter what she did she'd backup or rear straight. She was evil really, she even flipped over on me once."
"Ehhh... had a mustang on our ranch that just loved to stomp on anyone he threw. Broke my collar bone in two places along with three ranch hands various bones."
"I was thrown into the wooden wall of our indoor once and I broke my arm and a few ribs, plus a concussion on top of that." Lydia explained with a smile. She had been through a lot of nasty spills and beating when she was younger. Both her and her brother were always having competing seeing who could ride the toughest horses.
"Why don't we call ourselves even in the horseback injury department? I believe we could probably both go on for days about our various broken bones, torn ligaments, bumps, scrapes, and bruises when it comes to these gorgeous creatures." Rocky suggested as he gave Aja a loving pat.
"You're very true." Lydia grinned and looked back at him before slowly Diablo to a walk so he could cool out a bit before they stopped ridding. "So when did you first start riding?"
Rocky slowed Aja up beside Diablo, making sure to keep her out of the stallions site. "I've been riding since before I can remember. You?"
"I think my mom put me on her horse the minute I got home from the hospital." She smirked. "And I remember they gave me my first pony before I was five."
Rocky smirked as he looked off into the distance. He spotted Emma standing outside of the barn, with a satisfied smile on her face. "Well looks like we've atleast made her happy."
Lydia looked over and spotted Emma. "Yes I can see that." She shook her head before bring Diablo to a halt near the barns back door. Lydia swung off running her stirrups on her English dressage saddle and loosened up the girth under Diablos belly.
Rocky followed suit, beginning to take care of Aja.
Lydia smiled at Rocky. "Well it was nice talking with you." She said to him before leading Diablo into the barn ahead of Aja. She took him to his stall to finish untacking him completely so she could hose him off.
"You as well." Rocky replied as he lead Aja into her stall. He began to untack her, taking his time, before reaching for the hose to wash her off.
Lyd put her tack away before putting Diablos leather halter on putting a chain over his nose then lead him outside to the hose. She kept her distance away from Rocky and Aja letting Diablo eat grass as they waited patiently for their turn. Finally Rocky finished and she flashed him a smile as she headed over to the hose turning it on softly letting the water run over the stallion's neck, shoulder, back, and hind.
Rocky smirked as Lydia took the hose from his hand, his hand accidently brushing hers as they exchanged the hose. He made his way back inside, putting Aja back into her stall before beginning to fill her feed trough. He pulled a piece of peppermint out of his pocket and fed it to her
Lydia just glanced at him as their hands brushed briefly then went to work hosing Diablo off. She finally finished and scraped the excess water off with one of the plastic scrapers nearby then lead him back inside. Lyd took off his halter and fed him a few pieces of sugar before taking care of the last of her stuff. She grabbed a carrot and broke it into several pieces before feeding it to Diablo who stuck his large head over the half door to see what she had for treats.
Rocky chuckled as he watched Diablo's expression while he was beginning to get Enkil tacked up. "You're going to have him so spoiled that Emma's not going to know what to do with him."
"Spoiled can be a good thing." She smiled over at him and run her hand up the front of Diablo's face. "He's just a big puppy dog really. He only acts mean because he wants attention."
"Well it's either that or I think it's just that he loves the ladies." Rocky replied. He made sure that everything was just right with Enkil's saddle, before reaching into his pocket for another piece of peppermint. He held his hand out, allowing his stallion to nibble it out of his hand.
"He's very selective with the people he likes and trust." Lydia explained rubbing her hand up and down the stallions face as she fed him the last piece of carrot.
Rocky ran his hand down Enkil's face. "This little fella's the same way. He won't let anyone near him unless he can clearly see me. Don't even mention anyone else riding him."
"Those ones are always fun." Lydia smiled and turned to watch him with his horse. She noticed Diablo stick his nose out towards her looking for more treats and pinned his ears when he found nothing. "Don't give me that look mister…" She warned and his ears perked forwards slowly.
Rocky smirked as he watched Diablo. He shook his head as he looked over at Lydia. "I told you that you were spoiling him. Now he's gonna expect a treat all the time."
Lydia shook her head and rubbed Diablo's nose. "He'll get over it." She smiled. "Won't you big guy?" Lyd grinned and leaned down kissing his soft nose.
"Care to join us in the ring?" Rocky offered, deciding to just take Enkil for a few laps around the ring instead of full blast out in the fields.
"Sure." Lyd smiled. She really didn't have anything else to do and she slowly walked outside to the large outdoor ring following behind Rocky.
Rocky climbed astride Enkil and lead him into the ring. He began to slowly move through the paces, giving Enkil his regular workout without taking him into the fields.
Lydia just leaned against wooden fence and watched. He was pretty good for a western rider. She knew how to ride both western and english, but definitely preferred the english style of riding much more. "You know my parents have a bunch of Andalusians." She said seeing him slow down a bit. "One of my first horses was an Andalusian."
"Really.... They're absolutely stunning and I love the breed thoroughly. I have a few more back on my ranch, though Enkil is by far my favorite at the moment." he replied, as he brought Enkil to a stop directly in front of Lydia.
"My parents have a stud and a few mares and foals back at their farm. They like breed everything there. I think the last I knew they were almost up to 50 horses there and that wasn't counting the boarders that are there." Lydia explained looking at Enkil, he was definitely more of the baroque style of Andalusian, with a heavier set body and neck.
Rocky couldn't believe what he was about to offer. "Would you like to ride him? I mean, he won't let you ride him by yourself unfortunately, but perhaps he'll let you ride if I'm still in the stirrups."
"Na its ok… I understand the whole, one-rider horse type." She smiled at him. "But thank you for the offer."
Rocky shrugged his shoulders. "You're quite welcome, Lydia." He lead Enkil over to the gate, knowing that he'd gotten in his work out and was now ready for his bath.
"Maybe some other time." She smiled and started heading back to the barn with him. Lydia needed to put Diablo out before heading back to LA. Dante was probably having a field day with Rowan, that or he was going crazy.
Rocky began to untack Enkil in the barn before taking him back outside to hose him off. He made sure to get all of the sweat and any muck washed off of his body, before scraping off the excess water. "Good boy..." he said, rubbing his hand down the stallions face before leading him back inside to his stall.
Lydia walked over to Diablo's stall and clipped the leadrope to his halter to take him back out to his pasture. She unlatched the stall door and lead him out of the barn glancing at Rocky as she walked by. Lyd let Diablo back out into his pasture and shook her head seeing him immediately roll after she took his halter off. After watching him for a minute as he took off after rolling bucking across the field she headed back inside the barn and looked over at Rocky.
"Well I guess I'll see you later." She smiled brightly at him before going to hang up the halter on Diablo's stall door.
Rocky smirked as he watched Lydia walk by him. "Of course. I look forward to it." he replied as he finished taking care of both Aja and Enkil.
Lydia just smiled at him and walked towards the front barn door to head out to her car. Rocky seemed nice enough, a little closed off but nice. She climbed into her car and left the farm heading back to LA.

"Emma, I don't think she wants to go and see the view by the lake."
Rocky told the older woman. "Let her enjoy her ride."
Lydia laughed. "I'm sure he just wants to do his thing as well."
She smiled at Rocky feeling that he wasn't feeling the idea. "Plus I
haven't ridden Diablo in like a week, so I'm not sure how well he'd
be." She smiled and let down her hair fixing it back up into a
ponytail.
Rocky nodded as he watched Emma's smile disappear. He knew that she
was upset
that they were both turning her down, but he'd told her numerous
times that he didn't want to be set up. He turned his attention to
Lydia. "You let me know if you want to try those trails out later.
Diablo should be able to handle any of them. He's like my Enkil,
tough and doesn't let anybody say he can't do something.
"Oh I know… I've been riding him for a while." Lydia explained to
him. It wasn't that she thought he couldn't be able to handle the
trail, quite the opposite. His training was coming along extremely
well and she didn't want to go ruin it by bumming around on the trail
right off the bat she wanted to work him first. "Maybe I'll ride out
and meet up with you later." She offered hoping to make Emma happy
as well.
Rocky nodded his head. It sounded like a fair idea, and should
satisfy Emma if she atleast thought there was a chance the two would
meet up later. Rocky mounted Aja and nodded his head to Lydia. "I'll
be back later, Emma to take Enkil out."
Lydia nodded back and watched him leave before looking back at
Emma. "You enjoy this way too much don't you?" She asked with a
smirk. "You know I have plenty of guys to choose from in LA."
"Of course I enjoy making sure that two very deserving people end up
happy. And what a coincedence because Rocky's also from LA. I think
he's just too.... I wouldn't say wounded, but somewhere near there to
actually go after a woman. If you know what I mean." Emma stated
matter of factly as she too watched Rocky ease Aja out of the
stables. "He's a sweetheart though, won't show it to anyone...." Emma
said more to herself than to Lydia.
"I noticed." Lydia smiled and looked at Emma once again. "So are
you going to watch some of his training today or are you doing other
things?" She asked, knowing Emma liked to watch her ride him
occasionally to see how his progress was doing. Lyd loved Diablo; he
would be the type of horse she'd buy for herself. One of those
stubborn yet sweet horses who got attached to one rider. Emma had
almost gotten rid of him several times before Lydia arrived and
offered to ride him. At first Emma said no because he had thrown
three previous riders and she didn't want her to get hurt, but Lyd
preceded and finally won her over.
"I might for a bit on one condition.... You take Diablo up to the
lake. I'm sure he'd like it." Emma replied with a smile. She did
indeed love to watch Lydia take him out and work with him, but she
was also trying to look out for Rocky. He was one of the finest
riders at her stables, if not one of the most stubborn. She knew he
needed a good woman to tame him, and thought that Lydia was perfect
for him. Not that either of the two "youngsters" would admit to it.
Rocky in the meantime had taken his time riding up to the lake. He
enjoyed the view and found the peace and solitude of the spot to be
the perfect place. He'd only shown the spot to Emma once, but was
pretty sure she could find it again if she wanted to. No one else
though had been up here as far as he knew.
"Fine…" She smirked and shook her head. "I'll take him up there."
Lydia started walking away heading towards the back door with Emma in
toe. "I've never seen him here before, but you said he's been here
for years."
"Good... you're a good kid." Emma replied with a smirk of her own.
Emma began to follow Lydia outside to watch as she trained Diablo.
She had been considering selling Diablo again, but this time it was
more of atleast being able to keep him in her stables and with
someone she trusted. "Yes, Rocky has been here for the past five or
six years. He is or atleast he was a member of the LAPD. I think he's
left the force though, not too sure. He's not really one to talk much
about himself. .... And I really don't know all that much about the
lad, though I'm sure that you can get him to open up a bit."
Lydia caught the large dark bay stallion. He wasn't quite black but
he was close enough than anyone would have guessed he was, but he had
mahogany brown color to some of his body not making him a true black
color. She smiled at Emma as they walked back into the barn so Lydia
could tack him up for their training session. "He didn't look very
social." She chuckled as she put Diablo in his secluded stall in the
barn before grabbing a few brushes.
Emma chuckled before making her response. "I'm sure that you can more
than handle him, Lydia." She thought over it a bit. "He's probably
more rough around the edges, but I have faith in you, sweetheart.
That lad needs someone good in his life."
"Well thanks I think…" Lydia laughed reaching her arm up to brush off
Diablos' back that was just about level with the top of her head; he
was huge well over 17hands height. "You probably have other stuff to
do besides stand around here with me." She smirked and walked out of
the stall closing the door before locking it, setting all her brushes
back down in the brush box next to the stall.
Emma laughed along with the younger woman as she watched her with
Diablo. She knew that Lydia and Diablo were doing wonderfully and had
no problem leaving Lydia with the horse. "I'm sure that I can find
some paperwork to take care of in my office." Emma replied taking the
hint. "Have a good ride, Lydia."
"Oh you know I will." Lydia laughed and headed for the tack room
grabbing the dressage saddle from its rack and headed back to the
stall to tack Diablo up. Within a few minutes she had his saddle and
bridle on, and then grabbed her whip that was leaning against the
stall and started leading him out of the barn.
She was always thankful for being athletic so she could get on him
without using a mounting block or bucket. Lydia looked at the
outdoor ring then looked at the path heading up to the trails and
sighed slowly stirring him towards the path. She could still work on
things as she rode up to the lake, so it wouldn't be a complete
waist. Diablo was like the dressage type horse that any serious
dressage rider would want. He had gaits to die for, and his over all
body structure was perfect with a slight upwards lift to his front
end. Lydia loved riding him and he learned extremely fast, which was
a great quality for stallions.
Rocky had climbed off of Aja and tied her reins to a strong tree
branch. He sat on top of a nearby rock formation and looked out over
the city as Aja nibbled on the grass around her. He loved the view
from up here, no one could touch him. He contemplated over his newest
mission. In a little over a day he'd be stuck in a tuxedo at the
Turkish embassy. He hated wearing the tux, but it was all apart of
the job that he lived to do. Rocky was a complete adrenaline junky,
and marks like this always got his juices pumping.
Lydia slowly worked Diablo as they walk, trot, and cantered through
the trails working on bending, roundness, and softness. She really
wasn't even paying attention to where she was going before she
noticed she had just passed the lake on her left and came to a quick
stop. Lyd noticed Rocky sitting on a rock formation near the lakes
edge. She slowly turned Diablo around and headed back to the lake
and over to him noticing his mare Aja tied to a tree and made sure to
stay clear of her so Diablo didn't decided he'd rather go over there
than where she wanted him to go.
Rocky had heard Lydia and Diablo come upon the lake, but didn't make
a move. He waited a moment to see if she was going to leave, but when
she didn't he finally decided to say something. "I see Emma managed
to talk you in to coming up here."
"I promised her I would. You know her." Lydia laughed and patted
Diablos thick neck as she stopped behind Rocky. "I'm Lydia by the
way, since Emma really didn't tell you my name." She said not
getting off her horse, not planning to stay that long.
Rocky turned, sensing Diablo directly behind him. He looked up and
almost smiled at Lydia. "Rocky. Though I'm sure Emma's already told
you that and much more." he replied, a somewhat soft smile appearing
on his face. "I've tried to tell her she needs to stop trying to use
her match making skills on me, that they don't work.... but you know
Emma."
"Oh yes many many times within the last twenty minutes." Lydia
smiled down at him. "I thought I'd just stop and say hi, and at
least I said I saw you. So it keeps Emma happy."
"And as long as Emma's happy, hopefully we'll all be happy and she'll
stop playing Cupid." Rocky replied. He stood up and jumped off of the
rock formation. He walked over to Aja and untethered her from the
tree. "I'll ride down with you, that should make her very happy."
Lydia chuckled, "as long as Diablo behaves himself around your
mare." The last thing she needed was for him to get studly on her
knowing there was a girl around. That was one thing she didn't want
to deal with.
Rocky nodded his head as he climbed astride his mare. "Yes, we
wouldn't want Emma to get thrilled about these two mating on us all
of a sudden. I'll stay behind you just in case." he suggested as he
rode up beside her.
"That would be great." Lydia smiled at him sincerely at him before
heading back down the trail staying ahead of Rocky and his
horse. "So Emma says you live in LA." She glanced back at him
before making Diablo work a little bit so he stayed focused. He
wasn't even five yet and his attention span was not that great
especially with a mare behind him.
Rocky made sure to keep Aja behind Diablo. The last thing he needed
was for his mare to end up pregnant, not that it'd be a bad thing. It
was just that he wasn't ready for all of that. "Yes, I do." he
replied, not giving a full answer. He kept to himself at all
possible, and the less information he gave to anybody including Emma
the better. It was just that the older woman had her ways of getting
info out of him without him realizing it. He slowed his pace a bit
more, trying to help Lydia keep Diablo's focus to where it should be.
"I live in LA too." Lydia said over her shoulder trying to make some
small talk before flexing Diablos' next back and forth a few times to
keep him on track.
Rocky nodded his head, then made a verbal response as he realized she
couldn't see his motion. "It's a great city. That and I'm always
closer to work. I love the country, especially out here, but I
wouldn't want to have to make a drive like this on a daily basis."
"I completely understand." Lydia answered picking up a trot heading
down the trail slowly. Diablo become lathered in sweat from his
trail ride workout.
Rocky kept up his trot behind Lydia, keeping a close eye on her form.
He could tell that she was an expert rider. "Where'd you learn to
ride like that?" he asked out of sudden curiosity.
"Well my parents own a horse farm in Colorado and they taught me a
lot. But also the horse trainer that they hired taught me a lot, and
then I started taking lessons with a local Dressage instructor."
Lydia smirked back at him. "I was pretty much born on a horse."
"Well I'll be damned...." Rocky muttered under his breath. They had
more in common than he wanted to admit. Of course he wouldn't admit
it to Lydia either. "Then looks like Diablo is in more than capable
hands." he said aloud.
"That's why Emma lets me ride him. He bucked off the last three
trainers." She said as she spotted the farm off in the
distance. "Plus he's a piece of cake compared to some of the horses
I've ridden."
"I'm not surprised. I saw all three of them get bucked too. They
offered me money to ride Enkil. Had to tell them that my insurance
wasn't going to cover their broken bodies. He's just about as
stubborn as Diablo, if not more so." He saw the farm not too far off
from where they currently were. "Enkil would give you a run for your
money.... unless you knew his secret."
"I don't know…. I've had some pretty nasty horses." Lydia
laughed. "I had this one mare when I was a teenager who used to only
backup, she would not go forward no matter what she did she'd backup
or rear straight. She was evil really, she even flipped over on me
once."
"Ehhh... had a mustang on our ranch that just loved to stomp on
anyone he threw. Broke my collar bone in two places along with three
ranch hands various bones."
"I was thrown into the wooden wall of our indoor once and I broke my
arm and a few ribs, plus a concussion on top of that." Lydia
explained with a smile. She had been through a lot of nasty spills
and beating when she was younger. Both her and her brother were
always having competing seeing who could ride the toughest horses.
"Why don't we call ourselves even in the horseback injury department?
I believe we could probably both go on for days about our various
broken bones, torn ligaments, bumps, scrapes, and bruises when it
comes to these gorgeous creatures." Rocky suggested as he gave Aja a
loving pat.
"You're very true." Lydia grinned and looked back at him before
slowly Diablo to a walk so he could cool out a bit before they
stopped ridding. "So when did you first start riding?"
Rocky slowed Aja up beside Diablo, making sure to keep her out of the
stallions site. "I've been riding since before I can remember. You?"
"I think my mom put me on her horse the minute I got home from the
hospital." She smirked. "And I remember they gave me my first pony
before I was five."
Rocky smirked as he looked off into the distance. He spotted Emma
standing outside of the barn, with a satisfied smile on her
face. "Well looks like we've atleast made her happy."
Lydia looked over and spotted Emma. "Yes I can see that." She shook
her head before bring Diablo to a halt near the barns back door.
Lydia swung off running her stirrups on her English dressage saddle
and loosened up the girth under Diablos belly.
Rocky followed suit, beginning to take care of Aja.
Lydia smiled at Rocky. "Well it was nice talking with you." She
said to him before leading Diablo into the barn ahead of Aja. She
took him to his stall to finish untacking him completely so she could
hose him off.
"You as well." Rocky replied as he lead Aja into her stall. He began
to untack her, taking his time, before reaching for the hose to wash
her off.
Lyd put her tack away before putting Diablos leather halter on
putting a chain over his nose then lead him outside to the hose. She
kept her distance away from Rocky and Aja letting Diablo eat grass as
they waited patiently for their turn. Finally Rocky finished and she
flashed him a smile as she headed over to the hose turning it on
softly letting the water run over the stallion's neck, shoulder,
back, and hind.
Rocky smirked as Lydia took the hose from his hand, his hand
accidently brushing hers as they exchanged the hose. He made his way
back inside, putting Aja back into her stall before beginning to fill
her feed trough. He pulled a piece of peppermint out of his pocket
and fed it to her
Lydia just glanced at him as their hands brushed briefly then went to
work hosing Diablo off. She finally finished and scraped the excess
water off with one of the plastic scrapers nearby then lead him back
inside. Lyd took off his halter and fed him a few pieces of sugar
before taking care of the last of her stuff. She grabbed a carrot
and broke it into several pieces before feeding it to Diablo who
stuck his large head over the half door to see what she had for
treats.
Rocky chuckled as he watched Diablo's expression while he was
beginning to get Enkil tacked up. "You're going to have him so
spoiled that Emma's not going to know what to do with him."
"Spoiled can be a good thing." She smiled over at him and run her
hand up the front of Diablo's face. "He's just a big puppy dog
really. He only acts mean because he wants attention."
"Well it's either that or I think it's just that he loves the
ladies." Rocky replied. He made sure that everything was just right
with Enkil's saddle, before reaching into his pocket for another
piece of peppermint. He held his hand out, allowing his stallion to
nibble it out of his hand.
"He's very selective with the people he likes and trust." Lydia
explained rubbing her hand up and down the stallions face as she fed
him the last piece of carrot.
Rocky ran his hand down Enkil's face. "This little fella's the same
way. He won't let anyone near him unless he can clearly see me. Don't
even mention anyone else riding him."
"Those ones are always fun." Lydia smiled and turned to watch him
with his horse. She noticed Diablo stick his nose out towards her
looking for more treats and pinned his ears when he found
nothing. "Don't give me that look mister…" She warned and his ears
perked forwards slowly.
Rocky smirked as he watched Diablo. He shook his head as he looked
over at Lydia. "I told you that you were spoiling him. Now he's gonna
expect a treat all the time."
Lydia shook her head and rubbed Diablo's nose. "He'll get over it."
She smiled. "Won't you big guy?" Lyd grinned and leaned down
kissing his soft nose.
"Care to join us in the ring?" Rocky offered, deciding to just take
Enkil for a few laps around the ring instead of full blast out in the
fields.
"Sure." Lyd smiled. She really didn't have anything else to do and
she slowly walked outside to the large outdoor ring following behind
Rocky.
Rocky climbed astride Enkil and lead him into the ring. He began to
slowly move through the paces, giving Enkil his regular workout
without taking him into the fields.
Lydia just leaned against wooden fence and watched. He was pretty
good for a western rider. She knew how to ride both western and
english, but definitely preferred the english style of riding much
more. "You know my parents have a bunch of Andalusians." She said
seeing him slow down a bit. "One of my first horses was an
Andalusian."
"Really.... They're absolutely stunning and I love the breed
thoroughly. I have a few more back on my ranch, though Enkil is by
far my favorite at the moment." he replied, as he brought Enkil to a
stop directly in front of Lydia.
"My parents have a stud and a few mares and foals back at their
farm. They like breed everything there. I think the last I knew
they were almost up to 50 horses there and that wasn't counting the
boarders that are there." Lydia explained looking at Enkil, he was
definitely more of the baroque style of Andalusian, with a heavier
set body and neck.
Rocky couldn't believe what he was about to offer. "Would you like to
ride him? I mean, he won't let you ride him by yourself
unfortunately, but perhaps he'll let you ride if I'm still in the
stirrups."
"Na its ok… I understand the whole, one-rider horse type." She
smiled at him. "But thank you for the offer."
Rocky shrugged his shoulders. "You're quite welcome, Lydia." He lead
Enkil over to the gate, knowing that he'd gotten in his work out and
was now ready for his bath.
"Maybe some other time." She smiled and started heading back to the
barn with him. Lydia needed to put Diablo out before heading back to
LA. Dante was probably having a field day with Rowan, that or he was
going crazy.
Rocky began to untack Enkil in the barn before taking him back
outside to hose him off. He made sure to get all of the sweat and any
muck washed off of his body, before scraping off the excess
water. "Good boy..." he said, rubbing his hand down the stallions
face before leading him back inside to his stall.
Lydia walked over to Diablo's stall and clipped the leadrope to his
halter to take him back out to his pasture. She unlatched the stall
door and lead him out of the barn glancing at Rocky as she walked
by. Lyd let Diablo back out into his pasture and shook her head
seeing him immediately roll after she took his halter off. After
watching him for a minute as he took off after rolling bucking across
the field she headed back inside the barn and looked over at Rocky.
"Well I guess I'll see you later." She smiled brightly at him before
going to hang up the halter on Diablo's stall door.
Rocky smirked as he watched Lydia walk by him. "Of course. I look
forward to it." he replied as he finished taking care of both Aja and
Enkil.
Lydia just smiled at him and walked towards the front barn door to
head out to her car. Rocky seemed nice enough, a little closed off
but nice. She climbed into her car and left the farm heading back to
LA.

Agent Lydia Chadwick "Shadow"
Combat Specialist
Timberwolves, A.P.O.
Agent Rocky Newman "Iceman"
Interregator
Timberwolves, A.P.O.
Anya and Nikolai were silent and the Russian woman showed no emotion whatsoever as Greta spoke. It was clear to her that this kid was brought in to assure Anya wouldn't back out of the plan and stay married to Philip. Did Greta think so poorly of her? When had she not done what had been asked of her? She had always completed her missions.
"Now if you accept the work," the older woman started again. "You'll be giving both Nikolai and Anya support during the extraction. The mission profile is being finalized and we will discussed as you as decided whether you want to play with or not." Greta concluded and Nikolai let out an amused laugh. Greta sure knew how to offer a guy a job.
Alexandros retook his seat in front of the desk as he watched the other two agents do the same. "I'm glad to hear that you have two of the best in this business, Ms. Walden. It's always good to know that I will be working with competent people. I'd hate to have to cover my ass as well as both of theirs" he stated, the smart ass within him coming out. He leaned back in the chair, making himself more than comfortable as he listened to Greta's offer. It was the standard contract, one he usually passed up. For some reason though, this job was pulling him in and he wasn't sure that he could actually pass it by.
"You can count me in, Ms. Walden." he replied firmly. "You know I'm not usually one to pass up a job."
"Good," Greta said calmly, nodding her head at the young man.
Anya in the other hand rolled her eyes. Spending time with the man, any time would be worse than torture. "Why is he needed?" the assassin asked flatly looking from Alex to Greta. Anya knew exactly why he was there. He was Greta's puppy, brought in to fo what it pleased her but Anya asked anything just to upset the older woman.
Alex rolled his eyes at Anya's question. As if the answer wasn't that obvious? He was there to pull her out and it didn't matter how he did it as long as the job was accomplished. And at that moment, he didn't care what Anya or Nikolai thought of him. His face remained a complete blank as he watched the conversation progress. He would continue to allow Anya to complain about his presence for now.
Nikolai winced a little and spoke before Greta could. "Support darling," the older operative explained even though he saw no used for me man himself. "Arrangements needed to be made while you are busy being the loving wife," Nikolai winked at Anya and she shot him a serious glare.
"Exactly," Greta agreed with Nikolai but she had her own motives for wanting Alex involved. Motives she wouldn't be sharing with the others right now. "Nikolai will give you the information you need and your assignments," she continued looking from Anya to Alex. "It has to be clean extraction where no questions are made after Any's death as Mrs. Girard."
"Because someone has to make sure that everything is taken care of to perfection." he stated rather bluntly and matter of factly. Now he wasn't exactly looking forward to spending too much time with the female assassin, but he'd do his duty, get paid, and get out.
Anya let out an amused laugh which surprised even Nikolai. "You will make sure of perfection?" She continued chuckling and then looked at Greta. "I still think he is useless," Anya spoke in Russian and it was Greta's time to throw her a serious glare.
"Consider the job handled then, Ms. Walden. That is, as long as your agent can get her head out of her ass and learn to cooperate." Alex replied casually. The job seemed simple enough. Though if Anya continued to try to bait him, he was going to come back just as strong, if not harder at her.
Anya laughed again at the man. If she didn't know he was an stupid kid and an idiot she had kill him but it would be a waste of time and he sure wasn't worth it of her talents.
He smirked as he heard her say he was useless in Russian, figuring she didn't think that he understood her. He was very tempted to throw back his own comment, but after catching a glimpse of the glare that Greta threw to Anya for her own comment, Alex thought better of it. He sat back in his chair and crossed his arms casually over his chest with that same satisfied smirk firmly in place as he watched Anya getting the visual reprimand.
"It's not your decision Anya," Greta affirmed. "Now if you two excuse me. I'd like to have a word with Mr. Bradley alone."
"I'll wait for you outside Mr. Bradley," Nikolai cut in with one of his best smiles as he rose to his feet. Anya didn't bother saying anything. She just stood up and walked out.
"I apologize for Anya," Greta addressed Alex again, looking like she actually meant it what she was saying when she didn't. Feelings, emotions weren't something Greta had for operatives or anyone else for that matter. "She doesn't play well with others," the blonde woman continued.
Alex gave Nikolai a firm nod as he watched the two exit the office. He returned his attention to Greta. "No apologies needed, Ms. Walden. Either she'll learn to work with me, or she will just have to get over it." he stated evenly. "This job isn't about emotions... too bad she hasn't seemed to pick up on it."
"Don't underestimate Anya, Mr. Bradley," Greta warned him. "She is part of this organization for almost ten years. She has never failed to complete a mission and emotions never got in the way," the blonde woman went on. "She is upset now and it has nothing to do with you. It's about me getting in the way. She is just marking her territory. She is one of the best operatives we have."
With that out of the way Greta continued. "Now, Nikolai is in charge of this operation and I expect both of you to follow his instructions. Anya may want to kill you right now just for the sake of bothering me," Greta added any emotion. "But she will do her part and she will abide to Nikolai's commands. You must do the same." the older woman paused for a moment and stood up to lean agains the desk. "The reason I want you in this operation is to make sure the outcome will be the expect one," Greta began. "Like I said before the plan is simple but if something goes wrong. If Mr. Girard and his family are tipped off or get suspicious of anything you have permission to eliminate Philip Girard. Anya knows this is the backup plan therefore I doubt she'll resist the plan in any way. Just remember not to try to handle Anya. Nikolai does that. She is too valuable to this organization and the last thing I needed is an angry assassin in my hands."
"I do like a challenge, Ms. Walden. And she seems like the kind to be such." Alex stated. He nodded his head as Greta explained how long Anya had been in the organization. "I will stay out of her way then for now."
"I believe that I most assuredly can follow Mr. Vitya's instructions. As for the outcome of this operation, you will get what you want. I will make sure of that myself. And I will have no problems going through with the contingency plan if needed." Alex replied. Handling Anya? From the looks of it, no one could handle the woman. He certainly wasn't going to be one to try.
Alex stood up and offered his hand to Greta. "It'll be a pleasure to make sure this operation goes off without a hitch, Ms. Walden."
"Thank you Mr. Bradley," Greta smiled warmly as she shook hands with the young man. "NIkolai will fill you in on the rest of the details," she added before Alex walked out. The older woman then looked around the room and let out a heavy sigh. So far so good. NO blood in the carpet and she was sure Anya was armed.
Alexandros Bradley reported to the Orders' facility in Paris after having taken a small vacation from the life. He wasn't usually called into certain facilities, his employeers would normally have him meet them somewhere remote. No one truly wanted Alexandros to know where any of their headquarters were located, though he always had his ways of finding out.
Alexandros was wearing a pair of black dress slacks, a grey dress shirt, and a black jacket, all his weapons easily concealed so as no one knew where they were. He took a back way into the facility, making sure that no one had followed him inside. Alexandros found a note on the desk in front of him. He picked it up and read it over.
"Have a seat, Mr. Bradley. Someone will be with you shortly."
Doing as the note said, Alexandros took a seat in the chair in front of the desk. He kept his senses finely tuned,
not wanting anyone to sneak up on him. He smoothed out the fabric of his jacket as he waited, his face a completely blank slate.
The door to the side of him swung open, and Alexandros looked in that direction, though he didn't move his body an inch. He didn't know who to except, but it certainly wasn't the woman who was approaching him from the other side of the office. "Mr. Bradley, it is an honor to have you here in our offices. I have a mission for you." Greta Walden began, getting straight to the point.
Alexandros stood up to allow Greta to have a seat first. "Ms. Walden, I was wondering at first as to why you would call me directly to your Paris offices. You know my normal fee. Anything extra and it's gonna cost you."
"I'm sure that something can be arranged, Mr. Bradley. First though, I'd like you to meet two of our employees," Greta stated signaled to her assistant waiting at the door to send Nikolai and Anya in.
Nikolai stepped aside and let Anya walk in ahead of him. The Russian woman wasn't happy and for a good reason. Oversight had no business including a new members to the team specially when Anya usually worked alone. He also didn't like that Greta was going over his head and making operational decisions that weren't hers to be made.
Greta rose to her feet when Nikolai and Anya stepped into the room and joined them. "Mr. Bradley these are Nikolai Vitya and Anya Volcheck," the older woman made the introductions.
Anya studied the blond's man face for a moment but with little interest. She would work with him because she had no choice and in her line of work sacrifices had to be made but if he bored her she'd kill him. "Mr. Bradley," the Russian woman said with a forced smile and a slight bow of her head.
Nikolai looked more friendly and receptive hiding behind the warm façace his disapproval of the whole. "Nice meeting you Mr. Bradley," the older agent held out a hand to the younger man. "It's good to have you with us."
Alexandros studied the two people intently as they walked into the room. He first looked the slightly graying man as he was introduced. He'd heard few things about Nikolai Vitya, but took that he was quite possibly a capable agent. He then turned his attention to the bruenette standing before him. She was indeed strikingly beautiful and definitely had his attention, but for now he'd put that aside. This was business, and in his book business always came first.
He shook Nikolai's hand, knowing full well that for some reason, Greta was testing him. Though he was also sure she was somehow testing the other two agents in the room as well. Why he had no clue.
"It is nice to meet you as well, Miss. Volcheck. Mr. Vitya. Though I still find myself wondering what exactly I've been called in for? Ms. Walden, you look as if you have two more than capable agents. As you know quite well, I work
alone. So I ask again, what have I been contacted for?" Alexandros stated, feeling as if Greta was about to try to partner him up with one or both of the two agents in front of him. He certainly wouldn't mind working with Anya, as for Nikolai he had little use for him. He would of course work with either of them, but as he had stated to Greta beforehand, his price tag was going up now.
Greta sat down and waited until everyone did the same to continue. "My people are the best Mr. Bradley and the reasons why I'm hiring your services are not of your concern," the blonde woman stated coolly. She expected more of the man but he was young and for some reason didn't seem to understand how things worked in the Order. "I'm offering your a service under the terms you are used to. You will be well compensated as always," Greta continued. "Nikolai is working on extraction plan involving Anya," the older woman looked from Alex to her two operatives. "It's a simple operation and usually doesn't require someone from outside our offices but since Oversight is hoping to get this operation over with soon we've decided to bring you in as support. If you don't want to work the door is there and you are free to do without prejudice."
Anya reported back to the Order facility in Paris after a successful mission and now waited for Nikolai or whoever wanted to have a word with her. The Russian woman was sitting on a comfortable armchair in one of the officers and her face was blank of emotions. Deep down she was bored and couldn't wait to get out of there. Philip was receiving people for dinner and she had to make sure everything was perfect.
Suddenly, the door across the room swung open and Anya shifted her gaze without moving an inch in her seat. She was expecting to see Nikolai's smug face but instead a blonde woman in her late 40's with deep green eyes and imposing features stepped in. Anya knew the older woman and her fame. Anya's expectations for the meeting changed and she prepared herself for an interrogation. Greta Walden was one of the founding members of the the Order according to the rumors and she was also responsible for delicate decisions such as who lived and died, including field agents.
"Anya my dear," Greta smiled warmly at the Russian woman and treated her like they were old friends. They had met several times before but Anya couldn't really say they were close. Greta didn't have friends, no one inside the Order had as far as Anya was concerned. "It's good to see you."
Anya rose to her feet and smiled as well. "Greta," she said without much emotion. "It's a surprise to see you here in Paris."
The older woman walked across the room and stopped in front of Anya. "I've always loved Paris," Greta affirmed meeting Anya's eyes. She motioned Anya to sit down which Anya did. Greta pulled a empty chair a little closer to Anya and sat down as well. Crossing her legs she studied the younger woman's face for a few seconds. Anya didn't look bored by this or impatient. "Nikolai thinks high of you," the blonde woman started. The tone was her voice was soft and strangely relaxing. "And I happen to agree with him. You've done a great work for this organization and we are grateful to you for that."
"I've been well recompensed," Anya said flatly. It was a clear attempt to let the other woman know Anya did what she did for the money and not for loyalty to the Order, at least Anya liked to think that was the real reason. A matter of money and nothing else.
"I know," Greta replied with a smile. Neither her tone of voice or posture changed. "Your skills are worth it every penny my dear," she continued and took a deep breath. "But that's not why we are here."
"I didn't think it was," Anya cut in and the two women were silent for a moment or so. It was like a battle of glares. Each one wanting to see who looked away first. No one did.
"Nikolai is a good man, a fine operative and supervisor," Greta began again. "But he has grown attached to you which is natural. You two have a history and I think he feels like he has to spare you of some things."
"I don't think..." Anya shook her head as she interrupted the other again.
This time Greta lifted a hand and didn't Anya go on. "I'm sorry dear but what I'm saying here is not up to debate," the blonde woman stated firmly. "Things are the way they are," she shrugged slightly. "And I'm not here to reprimand either of you."
"Why are you here then?" Anya lost her patience a little and Greta noticed that. The smile in the older woman's face faded slightly.
"I'm here because you've been married too long. Your marriage to Philip Girard was necessary to our organization in the past but he is no longer useful to us. Nikolai should have given you the order a long time ago as recommended by Oversight but you grew fond of Philip and his children, and Nikolai knows you don't want to do what you must."
Anya opened her mouth to protest but Greta stood up and looked sharply at the Russian operative. "It's over Anya. An extraction plan is being worked out," she stated making her her way to the door and opening it. Before she stepped out Greta looked back to Anya who was now standing as well. "I'm sure Nikolai's plan will preserve the lives of the Girard and his children. That should bring you some comfort," the blonde woman affirmed coolly even though she smiled. And as she exited the room Greta still said. "If it was up to me we'd cancel them all..."
The Russian assassin held back her anger and remained calm. She didn't know exactly why all of sudden she felt so upset with the idea of ending his charade forever. It wasn't like she was in love with Girard. He was an assignment and the whole wife thing was really annoying but part of her looked forward to the boring family dinners and weekends in the park with the children. Anya felt like a normal person when she was Valentine Girard but who was she kidding. There was nothing normal about her or what she did.
Kat put some cream cheese on her bagel early in the morning still in
her pajamas from that night. They needed to get into work early
Drake had an appointment with Dr. Evans that morning and the last she
knew he was still fast asleep. She licked the knife before putting
it into the sink.
Drake was still asleep in the bedroom. The sheets had fallen down to
the hem of his pajama pants. He reached out for Kat and came up
empty.
Kat went over putting the coffee grabbing a few mugs from the
cabinet. She grabbed her plate with her bagel before going into the
living room. Grabbing the remote from the coffee table and turned on
the news before sitting down on the couch eating her bagel.
Drake rolled over, his eyes cracking open in the sunlight. "Kat..."
he called out. Not seeing her anywhere in the room, he climbed out of
bed and made his way into the living room where he'd heard the news
coming from. He leaned over the back of the couch and laid a kiss on
Kat's forehead. "When did you get up?"
With a smile Kat looked up at him, "about a half an hour ago..." She
bit into the bagel looking back at the news. "How'd you sleep?"
Drake leaned down and stole a bite of her bagel. "You should've
gotten me up...." he replied as he headed into the kitchen for a cup
of coffee. He came back into the living room and sat down on the
couch besides her.
"You looked like you needed sleep." She grinned at him pulling her
legs up under her.
"Well it's partially your fault...." He teased as he took a long
swallow of his coffee.
"Behave..." Kat gave him a slight glare eating her bagel and watching
the national news.
"I am behaving." Drake replied as he leaned back against the couch.
He turned his attention to the television and began to watch the news.
"Ya ya..." Kat smirked and slowly got up to go get some coffee for
herself. "Feel free to have the rest of my bagel."
Drake smirked as he grabbed the last half of Kat's bagel. "I think I
will." He took another bite of it while he watched Kat walk into the
kitchen.
Kat poured herself a cup coffee mixing it the way she likes. "So do
you want the shower?"
Drake smirked, not turning to face Kat, "I'll take the shower
and .... you." he said as he stood up and made his way into the
kitchen. He wrapped his arms around her waist as he smiled down at
her.
"Behave," she smirked. "You can have the shower first but that's all
I'll give you."
"I think I'd rather have you first and then the shower." Drake
replied, pressing his lips against hers.
Kat kissed him back before slowly pulling back, "nope shower..." She
smirked.
Drake groaned as he bowed his head. "Party pooper." he replied as he
unwrapped his arms from Kat's waist.
"I know," she smirked and sipped her coffee.
Drake started to walk away, back towards the bathroom. He turned on
the hot water in the shower stall.
She smirked and walked back out into the living room taking a seat.
Kat sipped her coffee watching the news waiting for the shower.
Ten minutes later, Drake walked out of the bedroom with a pair of
black pants on. "Showers all your's, though I can't say how much hot
water is left."
"I'll take a quick one." She smirked brightly finishing her cup of
coffee before standing up stretching.
"You'd better. We have to leave shortly."
"Ya ya ya..." Kat smiled and walked into the bathroom to take a quick
shower.
Drake smirked as he watched her walk off. "Shake it...." he teased.
He finished his coffee before heading back into the bedroom. Reaching
into the closet he pulled out a white button down shirt, and slid
into it.
"Sometime I wonder about you..." Kat mumbled before heading into the
bathroom.
In less than ten minutes Kat was walking back out with a towel
wrapped securely around her heading to her room to change for the day.
"I wonder bout you too.... cept I do it all day long." Drake replied
with a smirk. He buttoned up his shirt and found a pair of dress
pants while he waited for Kat to finish her shower.
As she was walking out in just her towel, Drake was combing his hair
into place.
Kat walking into her room and went over to her closet pulling out a
black pant suit and laid it on the bed before heading over to her
dresser to get the other necessities. She was trying to get ready as
quickly as possible so they could head into the office.
Drake walked out of the bedroom and took a seat on the couch as he
waited for his wife. He turned on the news while he waited, Bandit
jumping up onto the couch and laying his head in Drake's lap.
Kat quickly finished getting dressed and quickly went into the
bathroom to put on some makeup and put her hair up. She tried to
hurry but it was a process but she finally finished and walked out to
grab some shoes. "Do you have your ID and everything?" She called
out as she slipped on her black shoes.
"Yeah, it's in my wallet." Drake called. He took his wallet out of
his back pocket and placed his ID card into his breast pocket. He
made sure that his weapon was secured in its holster.
Kat raised her eyebrow as she walked out, "baby you don't need your
weapon..." She went over to put Onyx in the kitchen placing the gate
across so she couldn't get out and destroy everything.
Drake smiled as he turned to face Kat. "Baby, there are two things
you know I don't like to be without."
"Please..." She glanced over it. "You don't need it trust me...
you'll understand when we get there." Kat tired to reason to
him. "Or at least put it in my purse so we're not walking through
the library with it."
Drake pulled the holster free from the back of his pants. "Only for
you...." he stated as he put the gun and holster back up.
"Thank you." She said walking over and grabbing her keys to her
Rubicon. "Ready?"
"Yeah...." Drake replied as he picked up his jacket. He opened the
door and held it for Kat. "Whenever you are."
Kat walked to the door grabbing her purse and heading out into the
hallway. She stood there waiting for Drake to lock up the door and
then headed down to the elevator. Kat flashed him a
smile. "Everything ok?"
Drake took her hand in his own as they walked into the
elevator. "Everything's just fine. The doctor is going to tell us
what we want to hear and then maybe we can manage to get some work
done."
"Work done?" She raised an eyebrow at him. "What kinda work are you
thinking of?"
Drake smirked as he turned Kat into him. "Not the kind you're
obviously thinking about."
Kat looked up at him strangely. "You're confusing me..." She shook
her head with a smirk.
"And as much as I love to do just that, I meant the kind of work that
you and I get paid to do..."
"Ok this is what I thought..." She smiled at him. As the elevator
doors opened Kat pulled away from him and walked out into the lobby
and left the building heading to her car in the parking garage near
her apartment building.
Drake walked beside Kat as they headed towards the car. As she
unlocked the door, he climbed into the passenger seat and awaited
there arrival.
Kat headed towards the office and parked in the parking garage. She
led Drake to the library and showed him to the basement level and
into the maintenence room showing him how to get in.
Drake followed Kat and paid attention as she pointed things out to
him. He made mental notes on everything that he'd have to know.
Kat when through the final security check on the second level and
headed towards the infirmary. She entered after entering all the
necessary information and looked around for doctor Evans. "Doctor
Evans?" She called out hoping it would bring him out from somewhere.
Doctor Evans looked up from the file in his hands. "Perfect timing
Agents Bachmeier and Kinsington."
"It's Andrews, Doctor. Drake Andrews." Drake replied. "But I'm sure
that you already knew that since you spoke with Kat yesterday."
"Of course. Step into the exam room and we'll get started then."
Kat slowly followed and took a seat in a chair near the med bed that
Drake sat on. "So is it normal for him to remember so much only
after a few weeks?"
"No, not exactly. But as you've probably heard many times, each
patient is different." Dr. Evans replied.
Drake sat on the med bed and allowed the doctor to begin his
examination. He sat still and did everything that was asked of him.
"Drake, you surprise me and I am thrilled to say that you are in
perfect condition. And I don't mean only physically. Mentally
speaking, you have surpassed everything and anything that could ever
be imagined."
"Thanks, Dr." Drake replied. "So I'm cleared for active duty, right?"
Kat sat there and listened. She still wasn't sure it was like it was
almost too good to be true. The only thing she was afraid of was
that Drake would get hit in the head again and it would erase his
memory once again.
"Yes, I'll see to it immediately. Just avoid any head injuries for
awhile, as well as any undue stress. You should be perfectly fine."
the doctor replied.
Kat smiled at Drake and stood up. "You ready?" Kat asked with a
grinned.
"Whenever you are...." Drake replied with his signature smile.
"I wouldn't have asked it if I wasn't." She smirked slightly and
started walking out of the room. "Thanks doctor."
Dr. Evans nods as he goes back to his file.
Drake slides easily off of the med bed and follows Kat out of the
room.
"So going up to the bull pen?" She asked heading over to the
elevator.
"Sure.... either there or the gym." Drake stated.
"How about bull pen for a while then gym?" Kat looked over at him as
she walked into the elevator after going through security.
"Alright, guess I could put in some time towards paperwork." Drake
followed Kat onto the elevator. He kept his distance since he knew
that they were always being watched while at work.

Ghosts, A.P.O
Nicholos woke up bright and early in the morning. He looked down to
see Bandit sleeping peacefully at the foot of the bed. Sitting up and
stretching, he took a look around the room. Nothing came to him, but
he was getting used to it. Climbing out of bed, Nicholos slid a pair
of black pants up his legs before heading into the kitchen for a cup
of coffee. He stopped outside of Kat's room, wondering if he should
wake her up or not.
Kat was stretched out on her belly peacefully sleeping. Little Onyx
was stretched out right next to her. Her loose hair was going every
which way and during the night she had kicked the blankets to the end
of the bed. Leaving her lying exposed in her boxer shorts and tank
top. She loved Sunday's, where she could do absolutely nothing and
sleeping in past six am.
Nicholos peaked into the room and couldn't help the smile that lit his
face as he watched Kat and Onyx sleeping. Feeling a furry head bump
against his leg, he made sure that Bandit didn't decide to go and jump
on the bed waking them up. Walking into the kitchen, Nicholos put the
coffee pot on to brew that coffee he had been wanting. While he
waited, he silently crept back into Kat's room and sat down on the
edge of the bed. He smiled as he watched her sleeping peacefully,
before looking over to the clock.
Feeling something heavier than Onyx move the bed, Kat mumbled in her
sleep and slowly rolled over onto her back. She wasn't really awake
more like a little sleep. Kat senses could have sworn she smelt
coffee but he wasn't enough to wake her up yet.
Nicholos continued to watch her. It was barely past eight and for some
reason he sensed that Kat would want to sleep in for another hour.
Well at least he could have some fun with this. Standing up and
stepping back out of the room, Nicholos grabbed an ice cube out of the
freezer before returning to the room. He sat back down on the bed, and
noticed Kat's bare abdomen where her tank top had ridden up a little
bit. With an evil little smirk on his face, he slowly and teasingly
ran the ice cube against her bare flesh.
The moment the cold tingling feeling hit her stomach her eyes snapped
open with a yelp. Her hand flung out and hit Onyx causing her to wake
up with a small cry. Kat looked around to see what the source of the
cold was and noticed Drake sitting there with an ice cube in his hand.
"You ass!" She flung her hang at him smacking him in the arm before
pushing back her hair out of her face.
Kat slowly slide out of bed and went over picking up Onyx before going
back over to the bed. "Did I hurt you…?" She cooed rubbing the back
of her ears.
Nicholos began to silently laugh as he rubbed his arm where she'd hit
him. "I seem to recall waking you up this way a couple of times...."
he teased, running the ice cube down her arm as he settled behind her
on the bed.
Reaching out with his other hand, Nicholos scratched Onyx behind the
ears as Bandit jumped up onto the bed with them. "She looks perfectly
fine to me."
Kat looked at him and rolled her eyes. "So the only thing you start
remembering is the way you torture me in the morning." She couldn't
help but grumble and push her tank top strap up onto her shoulder again.
It was harder than she thought it was going to be. He was so close to
her and she wanted him to remember everything but he didn't. He
didn't even know his own name… "Well I did smack her when you woke me
up."
"What about those other things I started to remember last night at the
club, Kitten?" Nicholos asked, pushing the strap back down with a
smirk. "And as I recall, this torture usually led to other
activities...." he continued, jumping back to the topic at hand. He
continued sliding the melting ice cube from her shoulder, under her
hair and across the backs of her shoulders.
Kat couldn't help but close her eyes slowly at the chill but quickly
remember what he was talking about and quickly got up off the bed.
She cleared her throat and pushed her strap back up before glancing at
him. "I smell coffee." Kat explained putting Onyx down before
heading for the door. She couldn't let him in until he completely
remembered everything; she kept telling herself that over and over again.
Nicholos let out a frustrated groan. He got up and headed into the
kitchen. The coffee had almost finished brewing when he walked in and
threw the mostly melted ice cube into the sink. "How am I supposed to
remember when you keep pulling back? Or when you don't tell me
something? I mean come on.... I've been reading up on this stuff....
There's almost always a trigger of some sort that helps."
"Because I was ordered not to." Kat said in a flat tone. She wanted
to let him in, she really did. Walking over once the coffee was done
she took one of the two mugs and poured herself some coffee.
Nicholos reached over and grabbed himself a cup of coffee as well.
Black, just the way he liked it. He reached up suddenly and started
rubbing at his right temple, a small ache coming on. "What happened in
France?" he asked out of nowhere.
"Huh?" Kat looked over at him pouring in her half and half. She
poured in a few tablespoons of sugar after and slowly started stirring.
"France.... priest.... white dress...." he muttered, still trying to
work the out the pain. "Mission...."
Kat stared at him, "ok that's one memory you shouldn't remember right
now…" She explained to him going over to get a bowl of cereal.
He smirked slowly, getting a good mental picture of Kat in his mind.
He was remembering slowly, sure. But it was something. He walked over
to her, taking a long swig of his coffee as he put his hand over hers,
trapping her between himself and the counter. "And why shouldn't I be
remembering our wedding?" he asked. "It's got to be a good thing that
I'm remembering something right?"
"You don't even remember your name… You think your Nicholos." Kat
explained trying to ignore him and go about getting her bowl so she
could get some Special K.
"Andrews...." Nicholos replied. He wasn't about to back down, not when
he was so close....
"That's your last name yes…" Kat said softly before walking over to a
cabinet and pulling out a box of Special K pouring some into her bowl.
He took another long swig of his coffee as he searched the memory that
was slowly coming back. He opened the refrigerator and pulled out the
milk, passing it to Kat. "Um.... Drake.... Drake Maxwell Andrews..."
he all but whispered.
"Just because you remember your name doesn't mean you remember who you
are… you've been gone several months…" Kat explained to him softly
not looking at him as she took the milk and went to grab a banana to
cut up into her cereal.
"I trying dammit...." Nicholos/Drake replied. He leaned against the
counter, his head against the cabinet behind him and his eyes closed.
"You're trying to hard… that's the problem…" She told him, grabbing a
knife and peeling the banana. "Doctor Evans said it might be harmful
if you force your self to remember."
"I just want my life back.... I want you back...."
"It'll come back… just don't try so hard." Kat looked over at him
before pouring milk over her cereal returning it to the refrigerator.
Nicholos/Drake nodded as he made his way over to the fridge. He pulled
out a couple of eggs and grabbed a skillet.
She needed keep her self distant from him, or at least try. Kat
looked over to what he was doing, "bottom cabinet." She pointed to
where all her pans were and gathered up her coffee and cereal before
heading into the living room to turn on the news.
Drake nodded in her direction as he leaned down and grabbed the
skillet. Just as he was about to stand back up, he misjudged the
counter top and banged his head hard on it. He fell to the ground, the
eggs cracked making a nice mess and the skillet landed with a loud
thud. Bandit let out a bark and moved over to check on his master.
Kat had just sat down and turned on the TV when she heard a loud thud
coming from the kitchen. "Nicholos?" She forced herself to say.
There was no answer. "Drake?" She tried before slowly getting up and
heading over to the kitchen. Her eyes widened seeing him on the floor
and quickly went to his side.
"Oh my god!" She shook him and rolled him over tapping his face trying
to wake him up. "Wake up!"
Drake let out a loud groan, reaching out and grabbing whoever's hands
were slapping him in the face. He knew that voice. "Kitten, stop it.
I'm awake. If you wanted to continue what we started...." he began.
"You ok?!" She asked quickly checking his head making sure he wasn't
bleeding. Kat wasn't even paying attention to what he was saying; she
just wanted to make sure he was ok.
Drake caught her hands again, pulling them against his chest. "Yeah,
I'm perfectly fine. Now that I have you back in my arms right where
you belong." he replied. Reaching up, he brushed her hair out of her
eyes with a soft smile.
Kat didn't know what to do. She quickly got up and looked down at
him. "This isn't funny…" She said softly, he didn't know who he was.
Kat turned heading back out to her cereal and news.
Drake was now confused. He got up, heading into the living room and
sitting down in front of Kat. "I've been gone for two years and all
you can say is "This isn't funny..."? Kitten, you sure have some way
to welcome your husband home after two years of not seeing me." he stated.
Kat stared at him mid chew. "What do you remember?" She mumbled with
her mouth full of cereal.
"Everything..." Drake stated. He turned slightly, grabbing the remote
and turning off the TV. Returning his attention to Kat he took the
bowl and spoon from her before setting them on the coffee table. "Like
you have this cute panther paw on your left hip." he said, pressing
his fingers softly against her hip through the material of her boxer
shorts. "The fact that I can't take you anywhere near a pound or
animal shelter. If I do, I might as well go back to school so that
none of the animals you pick out gets sick."
"You remember…" She said softly trying to hold in her tears that were
forming in her eyes. Nicholos wouldn't know that… "I don't
understand… you think your Nicholos…" He had been back for almost two
weeks, how could he remember so quickly.
"Kitten, I haven't used that alias in years." he rubbed the knot on
his head. He remembered finally coming home, and then it all clicked.
"Hey, I'm home now. I'm sorry if I scared you. Must've taken a hit too
hard to the head while I was away."
Kat took in a deep breath before letting it out slowly. This was too
much to handle. "We need to tell Doctor Evans… and Director Shaw."
She looked at him. "Do you remember them?"
"Yeah, Director Shaw is the lady that brought me into our new job and
Doctor Evans is the doctor who looked me over when I came home. Can we
at least wait until I've had some time with my wife?" he asked with a
soft smile as he ran a finger across her cheek.
This was way too much to handle right now, one minute he's Nicholos
and the next he hits his head and is Drake again. "I need to call
Doctor Evans." She told him getting up grabbing the phone. She
wanted to make sure this wasn't some weird side affect thing and he'd
not remember again in a few hours.
Drake stood up. He placed a kiss on Kat's temple while she made the
phone call. "I'll go grab a shower and get dressed then."
"Mmhmm…" Kat mumbled and headed for her bedroom shutting the door
behind her and sat on the bed dialing the Evan's house number. About
ten minutes later she walked out of her room and set the phone down
before plopping down on the couch.
Drake came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist.
"What'd the good doctor say?" he asked when he saw Kat on the couch.
"He said it's possible that by hitting your head could cause you to
remember… but he wants you to come in first thing in the morning so he
can check you out." Kat said softly before looking at him.
"Then I'll go and see him in the morning. Though I must say that I'm
glad to be myself again." Drake replied. "What would you like to do
for the rest of the day?"
"I don't know…" Kat said softly staring at him. "This is weird for
me…The past two weeks you have been someone else."
"Hmmmm...." Drake thought aloud. "I'm sorry that you had to go through
that, Kat. If I could change it, you know that I would. But I can't."
Kat huffed and ran her hand through her hair. "What else do you
remember?" She asked him, wanting to hear other things he remembered.
Drake smiled as he came around the couch and sat down beside Kat.
"Let's see.... You sometimes like to have time all to yourself, just
to do whatever you want to do. You like to go horseback riding
occasionally, you are a demolitions expert and if there was a bomb
strapped to me you're the only person I'd trust to disarm it. And you
used to love it when I'd wake you up in the morning with an ice
cube..." he teased.
"No that's your idea of being funny…" Kat narrowed her eyes at him and
turned towards him more. She stared at him for a minute; there was
something in his eyes something familiar. It was just killing her,
without hesitation she leaned forward crushing her lips against his.
"No, that's me getting you're cute ass up in the morning...." Drake
teased as he kept his eyes locked on Kat's until she pressed her lips
to his. He closed his eyes, and pulled her into his lap. He slid his
lips from hers and made his way down to her neck.
Kat straddled over his legs sitting down on his thighs as their kiss
continued. Her arms wrapped around his neck as his lips pressed
against her neck. She smiled and let out a content sigh. "I missed
you…" Kat whispered keeping her eyes closed.
"Missed you too...." Drake whispered as he stood up with Kat in his
arms. He made sure his hands were underneath her butt as he began to
carry her towards her bedroom. His lips never left her neck.
Kat couldn't help but let out a giggle and clung to him as he stood
up. Her legs wrapped around his waist, letting her lips kiss his
shoulder lightly as he walked towards her bedroom. She was so happy
to have him back, she missed him terribly.

OOC: Hi I'm new so i hope this is good!
IC: Tatiana walked onto the roof to setup for her hit making sure to
keep an eye on the time though she did have more then enough time. She
always did. Her hit tonight was a Leroy Harris, a very wealthy man who
has pissed off the legion by not going through with a deal they had
planned. All he had to do was give them the dam money and he'd get his
package but no he decided he wanted to keep his money and get the
package. when will people learn that if you don't pay the legion will
be angry and when the legion is angry and wants blood they send me.
But a jobs a job besides i live for this. Wait.
There he is he's early. sh*t. Tatiana checked her watch to see that it
was 15 minutes till he was suppose to arrive. I quickly set up all the
while thinking what the hell was going on! The legion told me he would
be here at 7:15 not 7:00. Oh well lets just do this. As i get into
position and be cautious because even if it is possibly just because
he came early this could be a trap.
Ready. Aim. just as i am about to shoot a women blocks my view.
"Dammit" I cry out in frustration. I sigh as i wait for a clear shot.
"come on lady i may have grown up in Russia but it's getting cold out
here...".
As i am about to just shoot her she finely moves i can see that Lee
(as i am now calling him) is still in his same position.
Now Again Rea- ah screw it fire! Bullseye! right between the eyes hey
there's a plus his brain splattered on the women he was just speaking
to... I quickly pack up and ring the legion. "Is it done?" "Yes it's
done". "Very good get back to the safe house and wait for my
instructions". "I will sir". I shut the phone ending the call slip it
back into my pocket pick up the suit case and walk to the roof exit
and back to the safe house.
Devon left his apartment heading to go pick up Barrett. He gave himself plenty of time to get to her apartment, then over to Lyd and Ro's place. Dev parked along the street and went up to the buzzer and pressed it waiting for Barrett's voice through the speaker. After hearing her voice he spoke back. "It's Devon… you ready?"
Barrett smiled as she heard the buzzer. She had just finished getting ready as she ran across the living room to answer it. "Yeah, I'll be right down." she replied. She grabbed her purse and headed towards the door. "You be a good boy, Trident." she said after having put up the kiddie gate, making sure he didn't get out of the kitchen.
Waiting outside on the side walk only a few minutes Devon smiled seeing Barrett walk out. "Alright lets go." He walked over to his Toyota Tundra and got in heading towards Lyd's apartment after pulling out the directions from his pocket.
"Lets." Barrett replied. She smiled as she climbed into the passenger seat of his Tundra. "So... what's your sister like?" she asked.
"Lyd!" Rowan yelled from her bathroom, "Did you steal my hair straightener?!" She glanced back over her shoulder out the bathroom door and into her bedroom to see her dogs lying on her bed, just staring at her. "Or did you two take it?" They both gave her looks and she grinned. "Of course you didn't."
"She's the biggest pain in the ass..." Devon glanced down at his directions. "She comes off as a smartass... well lets just say a lot of people think she's a bitch cause of her attitude so don't let it bother you if she's like... well... mean..."
"I won't, I mean come on.... I'm used to being around you." Barrett replied with a wink.
"She's worse... a lot worse..." Devon smirked and took a left at the light.
"I sooo did not..." Lydia replied glancing over at the straightener on her desser. She quickly grabbed it and hid it under her pillow. "Maybe the straightener fairies took it... umm like they took mine."
"Well, you have to admit though that I have put up with you on your worst days. Now if she's worse than that, I guess I'm in for some deep shit."
"You have no idea..." Devon mumbled. "Lydia always comes off wrong to people when they first meet her... more like several times they meet her, but after a while she warms up to them. Most of the time."
"You warmed up to me pretty quickly, hopefully she won't have too many problems with me. I mean you like me after all." Barrett replied as she looked over at him with a smile.
Devon tried to give her a reasurring smile. "You say that now... but you haven't met her yet."
Barrett was tempted to reach over and smack him, but it wouldn't help either of them if they had a crash on the way to Lydia's. "Well then I guess I'll just have to meet her and form my own opinion, smart ass."
"Ok then..." Devon smirked and shook his head and looked down at his directions. A little bit later Devon was pulling up to Lydia's apartment. "Here we are."
Barrett smiled as she looked up at the building. "Here we are."
Lydia walked out of her room and looked around for Ro. "He'll be here any minute are you ready?"
"Just a sec!" Rowan shook her head and just decided to let her hair curl. She applied a little more make up just because and then moved out of her bathroom and into her closet to get the rest of her outfit on.
Devon walked up to the apartment building with Barrett and pressed the button to Lyd and Ro's apartment.
Lydia heard the buzz near the door and walked over pushing the button in to speak. "Dev come on up." She smiled brightly, this was going to be fun.
"Ok," Devon smiled and held the door open for Barrett when Lydia unlocked the door for them by pressing the button. "She's on the sixth floor apartment 6C."
Barrett stood through the door, knowing that Devon would be right behind her. "Alright." She held the elevator door open for him before pressing the button for the sixth floor.
A few minutes later Lydia heard a knock on the door and rushed over opening up the door quickly. "Devy!" She smiled brightly giving him a hug and then it dropped seeing a woman standing behind him. What the hell was going on?
"Hey Lyd." Devon hugged her back before letting her go. He noticed her confused look seeing Barrett behind him. "Oh Lyd this is Barrett, she used to work with me in the Marines some."
Barrett definitely felt a little odd now. She gave Devon a pointed look since he had said that it'd be okay if she joined him at his sisters. "It's nice to meet you, Lydia."
"Umm... you too." Lydia gave her a small smile and stepped aside to let them in. She wasn't really expecting anyone else but her brother but they were just ordering Chinese food so it wasn't that big of a deal.
"I invited her to come along, since I haven't seen her in a while either. Hope that's ok." Devon explained seeing the look on his sisters face.
"Ya sure. We're just going to order out anyways." Lydia gave him a smile and shut the door behind them. She was glad she shut Dante in her bedroom the last thing she needed was him jumping on Barrett.
A moment later, Rowan finally breezed into the room looking quite fantastic, Caesar and Constantine following lazily behind her. She smiled when she saw Devon. "Hey Devon," she greeted, trying not to sound TOO cheerful. And then she spotted Barrett. "Oh, and uh, hi person I don't know."
Barrett turned to see who had walked into the room. "Hi, I'm Barrett. Devon and I are old friends from the Marines." she said.
Devon smiled at Ro brightly seeing her, "hi Rowan." He looked at Barrett then back at Ro. He hoped this was a good idea.
"Barrett. Interesting name." She gave Lyd a quick "And why is she here?" look before heading into the kitchen.
"Ok so I figured we'd order some Chinese food, since none of us wanted to cook." Lydia smirked and went over grabbing a menu from the counter. She was trying not to show how pissed off she was at Devon...this was supposed to be, their time together plus Ro because she was basically family.
"Chinese is great." Devon smiled and walked towards the kitchen. "So what do you have to drink?"
Barrett turned towards Devon and gave him a very pointed look. The look simply said /You didn't tell them that you were bringing someone?/ She didn't know whether she should be pissed at him or not.
Devon just shrugged at her... ok so he forgot to call Lyd before taking a shower and after taking one. He didn't under stand what the big deal was. Maybe it was a girl thing...
"We have just about everything..." Lyd explained opening up the menu. "Just look through the fridge and cabinets."
Barrett turns to look at Devon. "I guess I'll have whatever you're having." Barrett says to Devon.
Devon walked over and opened up the fridge and pulled out two Samuel Adams. "This ok?" He asked her looking over his shoulder at her.
Barrett looked over her shoulder to see what Devon was holding up. She saw the two beers and gave him a smile. "Yeah, it's perfect."
Devon walked over and handed it to her, "so we're getting Chinese?" He looked over at Lyd and leaned against the counter. "We could get like some of those platter things with a whole bunch of stuff on them."
Lydia looked at Ro and shrugged. "That's fine with me. What do you want?"
"Shrimp Lo Mein," Ro replied as she pulled a bottle of water out of the fridge and opened it, taking a sip.
"Oh and some Teriyaki Steak." Devon smiled brightly sipping his beer.
"Ok... right..." Lydia picked up the phone and looked at Barrett. "What about you?"
"Mongolian Beef sounds excellent." Barrett replied as she took a sip of her beer.
"Ok I'll order a platter and that stuff and we'll be good." Lydia walked away from the kitchen and towards the bedroom to order.
Devon grinned and looked at the other two girls, then smiled at Ro. "You look nice." He sipped his beer slowly.
Rowan smirked ever so slightly. "Thank you," she said. "You don't look so bad yourself."
"I try." He smirked and looked around the kitchen. "Nice little place you two have here."
She glanced around. "We like it. The dogs do, too."
Barrett looked down at Caesar and Constantine. "They are absolutely gorgeous..." Barrett stated.
"Oh yes the dogs... I haven't seen Dante since he was a little pup and that was only once." Devon explained looking over at her. "Where is he?"
"He's in Lyd's room as far as I know." Ro looked at Barrett. "And thank you."
Lydia walked back in and put the phone back down on the receiver. "It'll be here in about a half an hour." She smiled.
Devon looked over at his sister. "Where's Dante? Can I see him?"
"He's locked in my room for now. I just don't want him knocking over your friend there... he's kinda big and can be a little rough." Lydia explained to him. "Maybe later."
"My boys are too lazy to knock anyone over," Rowan stated. "But Dante is not."
"Like his owner huh?" Devon smirked brightly.
"Juuuuust about!"
"Don't make me put you two in timeout..." Lydia mumbled and walked over to the fridge pulling out a beer.
Barrett smirked as she leaned against the counter. She was just enjoying watching the playful banter.
"You're horrible..." Devon just shook his head at his sister.
"Well I'm good at it." She smirked brightly.
"Afraid of a little time out, Dev?" Barrett teased.
"Have I mentioned that I'm glad I'm an only child?" Rowan decided to input.
"God if only I was..." Devon sighed... he had a feeling he was going to get picked on all night long.
"So we have a half an hour to kill... what shall we do?" Lyd asked looked at the others.
"Strip poker?" Rowan suggested nonchalantly, leaning back against the kitchen counter. She was, of course, kidding...or was she
"Oh that should be fun...." Barrett said. "I know Devon will be the first to lose his shirt.... and his pants." she teased.
Devon almost choked on his beer and started coughing. "Oh hell no..." He looked over at Ro. "I'm not seeing my little sister in her underwear thank you very much... I have enough therapy."
Lydia shuttered. "Umm...ya I second that..."
"Party poopers...."
"Sorry..." Devon shrugged. "We could play just regular poker? Or like watch a movie?"
"No you're not..." Barrett replied with a smirk. "But a movie sounds good."
"Doesn't matter to me. Ro?" Lyd looked over at her friend with a smile.
Rowan shrugged. "Whatever. We've got a huge collection. Pick one."
"Ok..." Devon smiled and headed into the living room to look at the collection the girls had and to pick something they might all like.
"You better not pick anything sappy." Barrett called out.
"I probably will just to piss you all off." Devon called back with a smirk.
Lydia rolled her eyes at his comment. "You know sometimes I wonder about him...."
"We don't have many sappy movies anyway," Rowan said with a shrug.
"That we do not... we are more of the action, sci fi, horror people." Lyda smirked brightly.
"Now those are definitely more of my style of movies." Barrett replied.
"Found one!" Devon called out picking out a Resident Evil 2 to watch with the girls.
"Shall we?" Lydia looked at the two other women before leaving the kitchen and plopping down in her big comfy chair.
Devon put the movie in the DVD player and went over plopping down in the middle of the couch, getting the best view of the TV.
"Yes, let's." Barrett replied. She walked into the living room and took a seat on the couch beside Devon. "Couch hog." she teased.
Shaking her head, Ro moved in front of the couch and sat down on the floor so she could be with her dogs. Both big boys moved over and plopped down beside her, Caesar resting his head on her thigh and Constantine flopping in his side on front of her.
Devon looked down at Ro and smiled, "I took their spot didn't I?"
She glanced over her shoulder at him. "Actually you both took my, Caesar, and Constantine's spots," she clarified. "It's fine though. You're guests." She winked at him and then turned her attention back to the TV.
Lydia got up and walked over to her bedroom door, "if I let you out you must behave." She instructed Dante who trudged out of the bedroom wagging his tail. Lydia rolled her eyes seeing him jump up on her chair sprawling out.
"The horse has arrived," Rowan commented, bending forward to kiss Constantine on the head.
"Ha ha..." Lydia muttered and walked over to the other recliner grabbing the remote as she walked by the coffee table and sat down reclining the chair.
"Wow... he's big..." Devon looked a Dante who took up the at large amount of recliner he was in. "He was like really tiny when he was a pup, always thought he was going to be a small Great Dane."
"The runts always turn out huge." Lydia smiled at Devon. "You were short when you were little and your pretty tall."
"Quiet you..." Devon mumbled and turned his attention to the TV.
Barrett smirked as she turned her attention away from the television set back to Devon. "I just can't see you as short...." she replied with a smirk.
"I wasn't that short ok... I just had a late growth spirt." He defended him self.
"Dare I ask how late?" Barrett continued. She smirked at him before turning her attention back to the TV as the opening credits began to roll across the screen.
"It was just until the end of high school that's all..." Devon rolled his eyes.
"Shhhhhh the movies on." Lydia looked over at them and smirked looking back at the TV.
Barrett was tempted to let out a laugh as she noticed Lydia looking over at the two of them, but thought better of it.
About a half an hour later the buzzer rang and Dante jumped up barking heading for the door before anyone could move. "Sit down... be quiet..." Lydia motioned for him to sit and he obeyed immediately, then went over letting the delivery man inside. She paid and looked at everyone. "Hungry?"
"I'm starving!" Devon said with a smile and jumped up from his seat.
Barrett laughed as she got up as well. "You're just a big kid."
"I'm hungry ok..." Devon smirked and went to help his sister take the boxes out of the bags while she went to grab plates.
"Anything I can do to help, Lydia?"
"We got it..." Lydia said grabbing plates and putting them on the table.
Barrett nodded as she picked up all of their drinks. She brought them over and sat them down on the table.
Rowan didn't bother to move to help. Lyd knew what she liked and would get it for her.
"Get off your ass..." Lydia shook her head at Ro. "I'm not serving you..."
"Devon will," Rowan replied, smiling sweetly at the man. She didn't even know the guy, but if he was as great as Lydia said, he'd be happy to do anything.
"Sure what would you like?" Devon asked looking over his shoulder at her with a huge smile.
Barrett shook her head as she picked up a plate, fixing what she knew that she'd eat and placing it on the plate. She grabbed her beer again as well as a set of chop sticks before returning to the couch.
"Ummm, the shrimp lo mein," she replied, grinning.
"Anything else?" He grabbed a plate and started putting some lo mein on it for her. "Like chicken fingers? or steak?"
Rowan shook her head. "No, that's ok. Thank you."
Devon piled on some lo mein for Ro and walked it over to her smiling, "there you go." He handed her the plate with a pair of chopsticks and grinned.
She grinned back. "Thank you, Devon. You're a doll."
"I try." He smirked and walked back over to the table dishing food out for himself.
Lydia just rolled her eyes at him and muttered, "suck up..." She smirked and went back over to her chair with her plate of food
Barrett rolled her eyes from her spot on the couch. "Kiss ass..." she seconded.
Devon just rolled his eyes and finished piling food onto his plate he returned to his seat and started eating. "I just don't see the harm in being a nice guy... Is that a bad thing?"
"I don't think so," Rowan offered.
"Ok just making sure." Devon smiled in returned and started eating.
Barrett again rolled her eyes as she began to eat her Mongolian Beef.
Lydia picked at her food as she watching the movie that was still on. Dante's head plopped down on the arm rest and Lydia glanced at him. "Don't think so...mine..."
Devon finished his food and watched the rest of the movie. Once it was over he looked over at his sister. "This was great."
Lydia smiled at him. "We'll do it again soon. I promise."
Devon looked over at Barrett and smiled at her. "Ready to go?" He had to go to bed early and go into work a few hours in the morning.
Barrett looked over at him. "Yeah, if you are." she replied. "Thank you for allowing me to join you guys. It's been a .... memorable evening."
Devon smiled at Ro, "I'll see you later too." He slowly got up from the couch. Devon walked to the door with Barrett.
"Nice meeting you Barrett." Lyd smiled at them. "Dev call me."
"You as well." Barrett replied as she followed Devon to the door.
"It was great finally meeting you, Devon," Rowan chimed in, smiling at him as she watched him head to the door. "And it was nice meeting you, too, Barrett."
"It was nice meeting you as well, Rowan."
"See you two later." He smiled at them both before opening up the door for Barrett and shutting it behind them.
As soon as the door closed behind him, Barrett turned and punched Devon in the arm.
"What was that for?!" Devon rubbed his arm and walked down the hallway.
Barrett walked beside him. "For not informing your sister that you were bringing a guest."
"Sorry..." Devon smiled sheepishly. "My bad..."
"Yeah well, I'm sure you will gladly make it up to Lydia. She was probably just wanting it to be the three of you and you had to spring a surprise on her." Barrett couldn't believe how clueless Devon could be at times.
"Sorry again..." Devon smiled at her. "I forgot to call her."
"Mmmmhmmmm...." Barrett replied with a smirk. She really did love being able to push his buttons.

"Oi, Joey." said the man with the newspaper. "Did you see here where
Jimmy Monahan got dead in Paris?"
"Jimmy Monahan was intentionally in Paris?" said Danny, who was
being called 'Joey' at the moment. "I'm surprise he ever got away
from the pub in Dublin."
"'Posing as an American named Parker, he was the star witness in a
major Interpol case.'" read the man with the newspaper.
"He always wanted to be a star." Danny said. "Do you remember
his 'insurance policy' speech?"
"Oh yeh." said the man. "'Nothing better happen to me, mates, or
something very nice will get broken...'"
"Crazy bastard. I wonder who got him."
"Ex-wife probably. Remember when he was with Moira Callahan?"
"Crazy bitch." Danny laughed. "Stabbed Craig with a nail file,
didn't she?"
"I heard it was an ice pick."
"Could have been an ice pick." Danny allowed, nodding. "Could have
been an ice pick."
Danny put the electrical cord down. The man he was torturing had
passed out.
"You know, he was serious about that insurance policy." Danny said,
thoughtfully.
"Nah, Monahan was full of it." scoffed the man.
"No, no, he was serious." Danny said. "Very serious."
"Yeah?" said the man.
"Yeah." Danny said. He rubbed his chin. "Right, can you go and get
me a ticket to Paris? Just pick a passport out of the drawer there."
"Right you are." said the man. "What are you going to do?"
"Knock over a police evidence van." Danny said.
"Haa." the man laughed, one long sound. Then he saw Danny was
serious. "Oh...kay." he finally said.
The man Danny was torturing had woken back up. "Ready to say a few
words?" Danny said with a pleasant smile, taking his gag off.
In six hours Danny was in Paris.

Barrett looked up at the skyline before leaning down to retie her
sneaker. Standing back up to her full height of 5' 4", she smoothed
out the short pair of shorts. She was dressed perfectly for the
comfortable weather out in her short shorts, a cut-off USMC tank top,
and her sneakers. Putting her headphones back into her ears, Barrett
started out on a light jog through the park.
Devon sat by the pond watching Kei his Great Pyrenees puppy bound
around with a large stick she found near the pond. With his
sunglasses down and a smile on his face he just watched her try and
drag the oversized stick beside her. She got it close to him and Dev
reached over picking it up tossing it a few feet away from him. He
chuckled watching the white fluff ball bound after it and struggled
to pick it up. Devon was impressed she was actually getting the
concept of fetching or so he thought...
Barrett happened to look down at her watch at a very good moment as
she almost tripped over a ball of white fluff. Coming to a halt in
her step, she leaned down to pet the puppy. "Now aren't you a cute
little one." she cooed to the puppy as she scratched her behind the
ear.
When Kei didn't come trotting back to him, Devon glanced
around "Kei?" He called out a little bit standing up slowly.
Barrett leaned over and picked the puppy up as she started wagging
her tail. Obviously whoever was calling out to her was her
master. "That must be your daddy, huh?" she asked with a
smile. "Trident, come on boy." she called to her own puppy. She
looked around until she saw a familiar face. "No way." she said to
herself as she came to a halt in front of Devon.
Devon turned in circles looking Kei. I mean how hard was it to loose
a white puppy in green grass? "Kei?" He turned around and noticed a
woman holding his Kei. Before he could open his mouth his brain
clicked. "Barrett?"
"Well, well, well.... if it isn't my favorite fly boy." Barrett
teased, cuddling his puppy close. When she heard Trident let out a
whimper of jealousy, she leaned down and picked him up as well. "Yes,
it's me silly. Where have you been lately? I haven't seen you in a
good while."
"Nothing much," he shrugged at her and flashed her a small
smile. "What about you?"
"Basically the same...." Barrett muttered returning his
smile. "So..." she was at a loss for words. What could she say to a
man who'd been thought for dead a little over a month ago.
"You like my puppy huh?" He reached out and petted Kei's head who
looked back at him panting at him.
"Of course I do. She's absolutely adorable." Barrett replied, placing
a kiss on Kei's head. She placed one of Trident's as well so that her
own puppy didn't decide to get jealous.
"She's a cutie alright." He smiled and held out his arms to take her
from Barrett. "So how have you been?"
"Miss her already, huh?" Barrett teased as she handed Kei back to her
master. "I've been alright. You know me, working hard as always."
"Of course she's my baby." Devon grinned brightly and pet Kei, he
loved having a dog especially after coming back from being a POW. It
just really helped take his mind off of everything that happened.
"So what have you been up to lately?" Barrett asked. She grabbed his
wrist lightly, pulling him towards a nearby tree.
Devon followed her and just shrugged, "nothing much just adjusting
and whatnot."
Barrett sat down on the ground, leaning up against the tree for
comfort. "Well I think you should join me for dinner." she stated
bluntly. She couldn't believe that she'd actually just said that, but
it was out there and now she couldn't take it back.
"Well I'm having dinner with my sister and a friend tonight..." Devon
replied to her. He didn't want to be mean or anything. "You are
welcome to come along if you'd like. They wouldn't care. Though
they are crazy... at least my sister is." He rambled on before
setting Kei down so she could run off and find her stick again.
"Oh.... well I don't want to intrude." Barrett said as Trident
wriggled out of her hands. She set the puppy down in the grass and
watched him chase after Kei. "I mean, maybe some other time...."
"No really you are welcome to come." He gave her a bright
smile. "I'll actually have another normal person there."
Barrett thought it over for a moment. She grinned at him, "Well only
since you're so insistant upon the fact. That and someone has to keep
you partially sane." she teased.
"Ok," Devon smiled at her. "I'm going over at 7... I can pick you up
if you'd like?"
"Sure, sounds like a plan. Um... casual or what?" She asked. She
didn't know how formal or informal this dinner was going to be.
"Oh yes very casual. It's just at their apartment." He explained
before looking out at Kei who was bound around trying to get her
stick away from Trident.
"Alright. Sounds good." She followed his line of site and couldn't
help the laugh that escaped as she watched their puppies fighting
over the stick that was obviously too big for both of them.
"She's obsessed with that stick..." He smirked watching Kei. "The
minute she saw it, it was like hers."
"Well it looks like Trident is going to give her a run for her money."
"She'll just sit there and whine until he gives it back." He chuckled
glancing at her.
"Aww... poor baby." She replied with a grin. She turned to look over
at him and gave him a wink.
Devon smirked. "Just like a woman, whines until she gets what she
wants."
Barrett's jaw dropped as she fully turned toward him. "I can't
believe that you just said that." she said, swatting him on the arm.
"Hey!" He chuckled and rubbed his arm. "It's true don't deny it."
"Since when have you known me to whine to get what I want?" she said,
crossing her arms across her chest.
"Ummmm.... since ever?"
Barrett leaned over and pushed Devon onto his back. "Wanna try that
one again, Major?"
"No Captain definately not..." Devon laughed.
"Then I guess you better remember that I ... don't... whine..." she
stated as she leaned over him, poking him in the chest to accentuate
each word.
"Right... you don't whine I gotcha." He smiled and sat back up
straight leaning against the tree again.
Barrett smirked as she returned to leaning against the tree. "Glad
we've straightened things out." she said, watching the two puppies
still playing tug of war still with the stick.
"Me too." He smirked and patted his lap seeing Kei trot over with
her stick dangling from her mouth. "You got the stick huh?" Devon
picked her up and put her in his lap as she started chewing on the
stick.
Barrett couldn't help the smile that lit up her face as she watched
him with the puppy. Trident ran up and curled up in her lap.
"Almost ready to go home?" He asked looking down Kei pulling her
stick away from her. The last thing she needed was splinters in her
mouth. He looked at Barrett and smiled. "Where can I pick you up?"
"At my apartment, it's not too far from here." Barrett replied as she
stroked Trident's fur.
"Ok." Devon said getting her address before getting up from the
tree. "I'll see you later tonight." He smiled and pulled Kei's
leash from his pocket and clipped it to her purple collar.
Barrett smiled as she stood up, clipping Trident's leash to his
collar. "See you then, fly boy." she said as she turned to head back
to her place.
Devon smiled and walked in the opposite direction to head back to his
car to. It was only a few hours before he'd be heading about out to
pick up Barrett and head over to his sisters place. Just enough time
to take a shower.

It was a cold night but that didn't seem to stop the city of love. The streets were busy as ever specially on the Left Bank, and across from Le Bon Marché and three blocks from St-Germain-des-Pres and the Luxembourg Gardens, the only historic four-stars hotel of the Left Bank was set. The Hotel Lutetia attracted business travelers, vacationers and numerous international celebrities but that night it was a man of shady background that draw the Order interest to the place.
The slender woman strode down the street with firm steps and the confidence of someone who knew exactly were they were going. She crossed the Boulevard Raspail and made her way to the Lutetia as if she had done that many times before. The blondish wig, green contact lenses and heavy makeup disguised her true appearance and made her look like a woman of questionable past. The low cut red dress and long high heels boots only added to the impression she was hoping to pass.
Anya lit a cigarette before entering the art-deco Hotel and then crossed the lobby towards the Piano Bar. The concierge at the reception noticed her arrival and followed her with his eyes. "Mademoiselle?" the young man called but Anya ignored him and continued onward.
"The kid is interested," she muttered knowing the support unit would be listening.
"Send a decoy," Nikolai said without any sign of emotion as he monitored the mission from the Order cell house in Paris and the redhead man in the computers before him nodded his head.
"Unit two move in," the redhead said and within seconds a group of drunken men stormed into the hotel drawing attention from everyone, including the curious concierge.
"You are clear," Nikolai informed and Anya turned left on a corridor and stopped at the entrance of the Piano Bar.
"Who is the target?" Anya asked, looking about the room. The operative didn't like last minute missions as the Intel was usually weak and there was too much room for mistakes.
"Standby," the redhead man replied as Nikolai placed his hands over the back of the young man's chair and leaned forward.
"We don't have all night Mr. Kramer," Nikolai stated and Kramer swallowed hard. Augustus Kramer was a recent addition to the Order and this was his first big operation which didn't do any good for his stomach conditions.
Kramer retrieved the feed from the small camera in Anya's dress and compared the images with the information they had on the target."Chubby, bald man at the bar."
Anya shifted her gaze back to the bar and looked at the man in question. "I see him," the operative muttered. She walked across the room and glanced distractedly around until she crashed into the man's back. Anya dropped her purse spreading all its content on the floor and the man turned startle.
"Oh pardon monsieur. Je suis malhabile..." Anya began muttering her excuses and the bald man who initially looked upset smiled after taking a good look on Anya's cleavage.
"Oh it's fine," he waved off the two bodyguards assigned to him as he stood slightly off the stool to greet the lovely woman. He knelt down then to help her collect her things.
"Merci!" Anya spoke with a sheepish smile when he handed the purse to her. She continued to speak in French and he shook his head.
"I'm sorry, I don't speak French mademoiselle."
Anya looked surprise. "American?" she asked with a heavy accent.
"Yes," he replied, glancing at Anya from head to toe. He noticed how interested she had become when he said he was American. "Greg Parker," he continued, using the name the Interpol had given him.
"Isabelle Faye," she made up a name of the top of her head and held out a hand to him. She met his eyes and smiled provocatively. "Enchanté!"
"Would you like to join me for a drink?" Greg asked, motioning the bar.
"I couldn't," she played hard to get and he shook his head lightly.
"It's the least I can do after I made you drop your purse," he insisted and Anya 'surrendered'.
¨¨
"And she's got him..." Kramer muttered from his station glancing at Nikolai who stood behind him arms crossed and eyes fixed on the monitors.
"Do you have control of the Hotel's security systems?" Nikolai asked, ignoring Kramer's comments.
"Yes," Kramer straightened up on his seat and answered. "I'm altering the images feed as we speak."
"Good," Nikolai replied and dropped his comm link on Kramer's terminal desk. "Call me when she is done."
"Yes sir," Kramer replied as Nikolai walked off.
¨¨
Half hour later, Anya was taking Greg Parker to his room under the attentive eyes of the man's bodyguards. Two hours after that she was leaving the hotel from the employee's exit while Greg Park was laying dead on his own suite bed.
"It's done," Anya muttered as she walked down the street towards the metro.
"Good job. We'll see you back at the house," Kramer replied but there was no answer. Anya just rushed down to the metro and took a line to the next station where she had left her car. The operative had to get back to the 'cell house' to get rid of the clothes and changed back to the role of Valentine Girard.
¨¨
When Anya finally made back to the Girard family property in Paris, Phillip was already asleep. She knew he'd ask where she was the night before and that was another reason Anya hated last minutes mission. She always had to come up with a plausible explanation to her husband.
The next morning, Anya saw her step-kids off to school and then sat down to have her breakfast. Phillip entered the kitchen quietly, trying to put on his cuff links and with the newspaper under his arm.
"Morning," he said and stopped at the kitchen counter, placing the newspaper down. "I didn't see you get home last night."
Anya rose to her feet and stepped up to her husband. "Good morning," she said with a smile and placed a soft kiss on his cheek. "I'm sorry but the meeting I mentioned in the phone took longer than we had planned but we signed the artist."
"That's great Valentine," Phillip looked genuinely happy for her.
"I know," she replied and handed him a mug with coffee. "I should be home early this evening."
"Good. I was hoping we could all go out for dinner tonight," Phillip affirmed and they walked together to the table.
"I'll have the children ready," Anya commented as they sat down. A comfortable silence fell between them and Anya drank her coffee calmly while Phillip read the paper. Suddenly, he put the paper down and shook his head.
"A man was found dead in the Lutetia last night," he said and Anya faked her surprise.
"That's terrible," she commented, trying to sound shocked. "The Lutetia is a delightful hotel."
Phillip let out a laugh. "Oh that's why is terrible?" he asked laughing. He was often impressed by Anya's reactions to certain things.
"You know what I mean."
Phillip shook his head lightly. "It seems like he was an Interpol protected witness."
"Well, they didn't do a good job protecting the man, did they?" Anya cut a piece of bread and brought it to her mouth.
"No they didn't," Phillip said and continued reading the paper . "A shame really. It seems like this guy, James Monahan was his name, was going to name the members of a terrorist organization."
"Really?" she arched one eyebrow. Anya had been sent to kill the man but she never really asked why.
Phillip sighed and pushed himself up. "Well, the Interpol will have to find a new witness I suppose."
"Yes they will," she said blankly and then smiled when Phillip leaned to place a kiss on her forehead.
"I have an early meeting," he explained as he made his way out of the kitchen. "Have a good day darling."
"You too," Anya replied and in the moment Phillip was out the door the smile in her lips disappeared. She reached across the table and picked the newspaper to finish the rest of the story on James Monahan aka bald Greg Parker of the night before.
Anya narrowed her eyes and pursed her lips, wondering what names James was going to deliver to the Interpol. She tossed the newspaper on the trash and stood up, bringing some of the dishes with her. Her cellphone rang then and Anya took out the phone from her jacket pocket after putting the dishes in the sink.
"Yes," she answered the call and a deep male voice replied on the other side.
"I won't hurt you I promise..." Devon said with a slightly smirk.
Talon nodded his head. "Don't pull your punches." he said, moving over towards the mats.
"I won't," he smirked and slowly pulled off his t-shirt walked over closer to the mats.
Rowan let out a wolf whistle, thoroughly amused by the turn of events.
Devon smirked and winked at the girls. "Don't enjoy the show too much." He tossed his shirt to the side and stretched his arms out a little bit.
Talon dropped down into a fighting stance to show to Devon that he was ready.
Devon smirked slightly and slowly got down into one of the many fighting stances he knew and watched Talon. He wasn't going to make the first move.
Talon began to circle Devon, not wanting to deliver the first move himself. He wanted to give the Major the first shot.
Devon just watched him. "If you are waiting for me to start you really don't want me to or you'd be on your ass before you got a hit in," he stated trying to be as polite as possible.
"It's true." Lydia butted in taking a seat on the floor near the mats.
Talon charged, all ready to get knocked on his ass, but instead of throwing a punch Talon flipped over Devon. He landed on his feet behind him and delivered an elbow to Devon's back.
Rowan plopped herself down next to Lydia and watched the boys for a second before blurting, "I've got twenty on Devon."
"I'm not betting with you..." Lydia mumbled watching carefully.
"Lame," Rowan replied. If it were anyone else, or if she had chosen Dev first, /then/ Lydia would want to bet with her.
Devon grunted and reached around grabbing Talon's wrist with one swift move he stepped around bending his wrist behind his back. With Talon's wrist behind his back Devon placed his foot in the back of Talon's knees sending him to the mat flat on his face. Devon wrenched his arm up behind his back keeping his thumb on the pressure point on Talons hand and planted his foot on his back keeping him down.
Talon tried to fight back, but he knew that he was beat. He was about to raise his left hand to tap out on the mat, when he felt his shoulder snap just a little bit. Using that to his advantage, Talon allowed his shoulder to dislocate. Biting his lip over the pain, he tried to roll onto his side to fight back
"Finished?" Devon asked keeping his hold on the mans hand and a foot on his back.
"Not in the least...." Talon panted out, fighting the pain coursing through his right arm. He tried to push himself up with his left hand, trying to find some way to fight back.
Devon gave a slight shove with his foot on the mans back keeping him planted to the ground. "Look I know it's a pride thing... but I'm a trained Marine... Special Ops..." Dev said softly.
"See this is why I don't bet against my brother..." Lydia shook her head and smirked. "You know we shouldn't have said anything... because the poor doctor really didn't have a chance against Dev."
"Mmm, indeed," Rowan agreed. "But you've got to admit that the war of manly pride is one that is very amusing to watch."
"Yeah... pride whatever." Talon got enough leverage on his left arm and swung blindly behind himself with it. He hoped to atleast land a blow against Devon's head or to atleast distract him.
Devon just shook his head as the hand didn't even come close to his head. "Look I really don't want to break you arm ok?" Devon squeezed the mans pressure point slightly knowing it would hurt.
"So true..." Lydia looked around. "All we need is some popcorn and some comfy chairs."
"Fu...." Talon panted out. His shoulder was already dislocated and now he could feel the tendons tearing in his arm.
"You might want to let him up, Devon," Rowan called. "He looks like he's about to pop his brain."
Devon finally dropped his arm and walked off towards the girls, he really didn't want to hurt the man. "You shouldn't have suggested that..." Devon looked at Lydia, she knew he was more trained than the poor doctor.
"Actually, I think I suggested it," Rowan stated before looking past him and over at Talon. "You ok, Doc?"
"Son of a bitch...."
"Sorry about that..." Dev said looking back at the doctor. "You should have said uncle or stop..."
"That looks like it hurts..." Lydia glanced over at Talon before throwing Devon's shirt up at him. "Put that on and stop flaunting your muscleness around..." Lydia make a disgusted like face at him.
Rowan tilted her head to the side slightly before climbing to her feet and wandering over to the doctor. "So that was a 'no' on the ok question, huh?" she said to him.
Devon just rolled his eyes at his sister and tossed his shirt over his shoulder before helping her to her feet, then made his way over to Talon who was still on the mat. "Umm need some help?"
"That'd be a no." Talon said. He slowly started to prod at his shoulder. "Yeah, that'd be helpful. You might want to help me pop this back in." he stated.
"Ok," Devon shrugged it wasn't like he hadn't done it before. Those kind things happened a lot in the military...it was a male ego thing.
"Or we could go see Doctor Evans instead," Rowan said, frowning.
"Or not. I think I'd prefer letting Devon here, popping it back in himself." Talon replied.
She rolled her eyes. Men.
"Yummy..." Lydia raised an eyebrow looking down at the doctor.
Devon helped Talon to his feet and placed his hand on top of the mans shoulder and grapped his arm. He had done this before it was no big deal. Hell he had done it to himself before. "On three."
"Three...." Talon muttered. Bracing himself for the even more intense pain to shoot through his arm.
Devon rolled his eyes, that's not how it worked. "On my three..." He tired not to smirk. "One....." He noticed the doctor counting along with him. "Two." Devon pulled hard popping the arm back into place. You never did it on three it was like rule it was always on two so it was more unexpected.
"Son of a ....." Talon grunted out, feeling the joint popping back into it's proper place. He'd never dislocated anything like his shoulder before, fingers sure, but actual joints no.
"Well, that was neither smart nor impressive," Rowan stated, crossing her arms. She gave Talon a hard look. "Don't talk to me about health any more." She may not have really liked the guy, but she didn't want him to be hurt either. Manly pride may be amusing to watch, but it also pissed her off too.
"You're the one who made the request, just remember that smart ass." Talon replied straightening up.
"I apologize I should have stopped when I knew you weren't going to give in." Devon explained to him. "Sometimes I get carried away... blame the militarness."
"No, I should of tapped out when I felt the joint popping." Talon replied. "So call it fair."
Lydia raised an eyebrow at Talon. Did he just call Ro a smart ass? "Ok so I think this is where everyone kinda goes off in their own little way."
"Yeah well, I think Rowan owes you twenty bucks too." Talon stated as he began to stretch out his shoulder. It was very tender, but he knew it'd be better to go ahead and get the stiffness out.
"How so?" Rowan questioned, frowning in annoyance.
"I heard you throw out that bet."
"I didn't accept her bet so she doesn't owe me anything..." Lydia explained.
"I bet on Devon so even if Lydia did accept the bet, it would Lyd who owes me money, not the other way around," Rowan pointed out before adding in a rather nasty tone, "You did lose after all."
Talon continued to stretch out his shoulder. "I stand corrected." he stated, finally stopping the movements of his shoulder.
"Maybe you should get that checked out or something..." Lyd watching Talon stretch his shoulder.
"I'll be fine. Your brother just put it back into place. I just need to stretch it out a bit so that it doesn't get all stiff. But thank you anyways."
"/You're/ the doctor," Rowan groused, not impressed at all. Men could seriously be /so/ stupid.
"Yes, I am. That's another reason why I'm not going to the medical lab. I don't need Dr. Evans to tell me what I already know. Thank you very much!" Talon replied. He walked over to the bench where his things were and bent over to pick up his shirt.
"Someone's got a little testy..." Lydia mumbled raising an eyebrow at Talon.
Talon sent a silent glare Lydia's way before pulling his shirt over his head. He managed to keep every wince under control, not allowing the others to see it.
"Don't glare at me mister..." Lyd shaked a finger at him slightly.
"No fights please..." Devon shot a warning look in Lydia's direction.
"Not looking to start one at the moment, luckily." Talon replied.
"Me either..." Lydia crossed her arms.
Rowan shook her head. "Well, I feel sufficiently exercised," she said, walking over to where she had put her stuff. "I'm going to shower and then go back to work."
Talon nodded his head, effectively excusing himself as he headed for the showers. He'd step underneath the hot spray of the water and loosen up the rest of the muscles in his shoulder.
"I'm with you..." Lydia mumbled. "Dev your coming over to our place for dinner tonight at 7. And that's not a invite that's a must." Lydia said looking over at her shoulder heading over to the bench to get her towel.
Devon just smirked and pulled on his t-shirt. "I wouldn't miss it." He smiled and looked at Talon who was walking away...he felt bad.
Rowan gave Devon an absentminded wave before grabbing her gear and heading out to the showers.
Lyd walked into the gym with Ro, a towel over her shoulder as they headed over to one of the benches. She placed down her water and towel and pulled out something to wrap her hands and wrists with. She liked the punching bags, it was one of her favorites. "You ready for this?" She smirked looking over at Ro before she began wrapping her wrists carefully.
Rowan gave her a look before she started stretching a bit. "Of course," she replied. She was born ready, but she wasn't about to say it. Far too cliche.
"Right... and you can say it you were born ready. I know your thoughts," Lydia smirked finishing her right hand and stood up stretching a bit. "I was born ready too." Lyd smirked brightly. "What do you want to start with?"
A few feet away, the sound of fists pounding against one of the standing punching bags could be heard. A single person stood, beating out a difficult cadence against the hard leather.
"Up to you, mind reader," Rowan said with a smirk. Every since her lung cancer had gone into remission, Lydia had been kind enough to help her get back into shape...not that she was out of shape. She just needed a little more retraining. It was more about her feeling comfortable with herself than anything else.
"We should run on the treadmills first you know get the heart pumpin and stuff." Lyd smirked and stretched her legs a little bit before heading over to run a little bit.
The steady beat continued, setting an easy pace for the two to run to, though the man kept hitting the bag harder and harder. The sweat began to slide down his muscular back, his tank top had already been abandoned on a nearby bench.
Rowan nodded in agreement. A run would be nice. "Set the pace, chief," she said, making a sweeping motion with her hand before following Lydia to the treadmills.
"Gee thanks..." Lyd laughed and walked over to a treadmill and got on it starting it up slowly. She first started just walking then sped up to a jog for a while.
The steady pace snap of fists against leather came to a stop suddenly. Grabbing a towel from the nearby bench, Talon wiped his brow before throwing it back down. He started to do pushups on his bare knuckles on the wooden floor.
Hopping on the treadmill next to Lyd's, Rowan set her pace to match her friend's and then started her jog. She was glad to be back at work. Being out of commission had really sucked.
Lydia jogged for about five minutes really getting her heartrate up and blood pumping before increasing the speed a little more. She smirked at Ro, "race ya..."
Talon looked up as he finally heard the two women in the gym. He smirked as he saw both Lydia and Rowan racing on the treadmills. Popping himself up onto his feet from doing the pushups, he slowly made his way over to the two lovely ladies with his towel, wiping the sweat from his brow.
"Oh please, Lyd, so not fair," Ro mock-complained. "You've always been the better runner." Lydia gave her a look and she stuck her tongue out at the woman.
"I can't help it if I have amazing calf muscles." She smirked and slowed her pace down a little bit. "We should lift weights after this." She suggested looking over at her best friend.
"Well if it isn't my favorite patient...." Talon replied as he came to a stop in front of the two ladies treadmills. "I see you aren't taking the advice that I prescribed to you."
Rowan was slightly started at seeing one of her doctors from the hospital in front of her. He had been one of the men who had helped find a way to get her cancer to go into remission. "Doctor Helms," she said, slowing her pace a bit. "...What are you doing here?"
Talon smirked, amused to see that she was slightly startled at his sudden appearance. "Working out, the same as you apparently. Though I must remind you to know your boundaries. I certainly for one wouldn't want to see you in my office again before your check-up."
"She can handle herself I'm sure," Lydia smirked and looked at Ro. "She needs to get back into shape anyways." Lydia explained reaching over and upping Ro's speed on her treadmill.
"Lyd's right. I need to be on the top of my game. And besides not even death would get me in your office, Doc," Rowan retorted smartly, swatting Lyd's hand away.
"I'm quite sure that she can, Miss Chadwick," Talon replied, smirking as he noticed her upping Rowan's treadmill speed. "I'm just reminding her to not overdue it too quickly." He turned his attention back to Rowan. "I wouldn't be so sure about that, Miss Wolfe. I just checked my schedule this morning with one of the nurses, and you are in fact due back in my office for your routine check-up in a few days. And your boss most definintely knows that."
"Actually, that's Agent Wolfe," Rowan said, ignoring what he had said about her appointment. Last she had checked, she was going to see Doctor Evans anyway. He was her primary physician at APO.
Lydia slowed her pace slightly and looked at him for a second. "Umm not to be rude but why are you here? This is the CIA."
"Allow me to apologize, Agent Wolfe. My mistake in mispeaking your title. And your's as well Agent Chadwick. Though I can assure you that while the Timberwolves are on missions, I am most definitely going to make sure you are both perfect health," Talon replied.
"Wait what?" Lydia hit the stop button on her treadmill.
Rowan stopped her treadmill, too. "You make it sound like you're on the team with us..." She prayed she was wrong.
"Then you would be quite correct, Agent Wolfe. The Director herself placed me on your team to ensure.... things." Talon replied. He stepped back again, "Oh and you don't have to stop on my account." He began to remove the wraps from his hands, preparing to once again rewrapping them. He was ready for another round with the punching bag, though he'd start off with the jump rope first.
"Ensure things? What is that supposed to mean?" Lyd asked narrowing her eyes at him.
Talon raised his hands to show that he didn't know either. Picking up the rope, he began speed jumping while he waited for Rowans reaction.
"I suspect it means that the Director isn't one-hundred percent sure that it's a good idea to put me back on a team and therefore she's assigning a doctor to the team to make sure I don't screw things up," Rowan said darkly. She was not pleased.
"Possibly.... but like I said, I don't know." Talon replied, still bouncing up and down on his toes. "If I knew, I'd tell ya. Believe me. I don't like the idea any more than you do. And if I didn't believe that you were field ready, I wouldn't have signed you out of the hospital myself."
Devon slowly walked down the hall from the elevator after going through the security check on the second level. The directors secretary was nice enough to tell him where his sister was. He hadn't seen her in over a year and his heart was fluttering with excitement as he walked towards the gym. Devon slowly walked into the gym and glanced around staying near the door.
"She's ready for the field ok?" Lydia said in Ro's defense.
"I'm not denying it," Talon replied with a grunt.
Devon smirked hearing his sister's voice, it was so hard not to hear her she was loud. He spotted her at the treadmills and slowly made his way over to her. She was with other people but that didn't matter. "You just always have to start fights don't you?" Dev smirked getting closer to them. He smiled looking at his sister she was different longer hair and a little more buff than he remembered but her attitude was still the same.
Lydia looked over at the voice coming from behind Talon, she knew that voice. Her eyes widened and she couldn't help but squeal loudly before just about leaping off the treadmill and running over to the man and jumping into the man and jumping into the man's arms and hugged him tightly not wanting to let him go.
Rowan blinked and then glanced at Talon. "I haven't seen her act like that towards a guy since the UPS dude showed up with the ultimate knife set she ordered like a year ago..."
Talon stopped jumping the rope, throwing one end around his neck and holding onto both ends. "Well I guess he's got something the UPS guy didn't have."
Devon tightened his grip around his little sister. "I missed you." He smiled brightly hold Lyd.
Lydia finally dropped down and grabbed his hand pulling him over towards the treadmills. Her huge smile could probably have been seen for miles, it was so big. She looked at Ro then at Dev. "Ro, this is Devon my older bro."
Rowan hopped off her treadmill and walked over to him, extending her hand. "I thought I recognized you," she said, grinning. "It's so great to finally meet you, Devon. Your sister talks about you all the time."
"Good things I hope." He smiled brightly and took her hand in his. "And it's very nice to meet you too."
"Oh ya and that's Talon." Lyd motioned towards him.
"Nice to meet you, Devon." Talon replied, holding out his hand for the other man to shake.
"You, too. So is Ro short for something?" Devon asked politely not wanting it to be just a nickname Lyd used.
"It's Rowan. Rowan Wolfe," the woman answered, smiling. "I'm your sister's roommate. If she would stop grinning long enough to actually use her brain cells, she would have told you that herself, I'm sure."
"Wait... she has brain cells? Since when?" Devon asked shocked and smirked slightly after it.
"Mean!" Lydia smacked his arm and glared at him.
"They've been in the same room for five minutes and they've already slipped back into routine," Rowan said, directing her comment more at Talon. She shook her head, smirking. She had often wished she had had siblings, but was now glad she didn't. Besides, Lydia was as close as a sister anyway.
"Routine, gotta love it." Talon replied with a smirk of his own. "It's good to see you back, Major."
"Thank you," he nodded to Talon. "It's good to be back. So you two are roomies huh? Do you padlock her door so she can't get out at night?" He smiled looking at Rowan.
"Nah," Rowan replied, "But I do lock my own door so she or Dante can't come in at whatever God forsaken hour they please."
"Oh smart..." Devon grinned and looked at his sister. "You were always a troublemaker."
"I am not!" Lyd huffed and placed her hands on her hips.
"Yes, you are," Rowan said, grinning quite evilly when Lydia shot her a quick glare.
Talon turned to Rowan. "Why don't we give these two some time to get reacquainted? I'll even be nice and spar with you," he offered teasingly to Rowan.
Rowan gave him a sharp look. "And /why/ exactly would I want to spar with you, Doctor Helms?" she questioned.
"Because I'm willing to spar with you." Talon replied. "And... it'll give Lydia some time to catch up with her big brother. Which I'm sure she'd be very happy to do."
Ro glanced back and forth between him and the other two before she grinned wickedly. "How about you and Devon spar a little?" she suggested. She'd been told all about Dev's skills from Lyd and was curious to see how Talon would fare. "A little man action is always fun to watch."
"Or I could be nice and spar with you, giving the Chadwicks a chance to catch up. Then I could spar with the Major afterwards if it'd make you happy," Talon offered in exchange.
"It'll be funny," Lydia said with a smirk. "Ro and I have to see how your fighting skills are before you go out into the field."
"Why not?" Talon replied with a shrug. He tossed the rope towards his tank top and rolled his shoulders out.
"Umm if you want me too..." Devon said watching Talon. He didn't want to hurt the poor doctor. Yes he probably had some kinda training, but Devon was a Marine a highly trained killing machine.
"I guess we'd better give the ladies what they want..." Talon replied. He'd had a good little bit of martial arts training over the years, but he didn't think he could seriously take on a Marine.

Nicholos looked up as the beauty walked back into the room. He offered
a smirk in return. "Nicholos Kinsington, but I believed that I've
already stated that."
Kat walked over closer to the bed. "We'll you've been assigned to my
care." She explained to him.
Nicholos gave her another smirk. "What does that include? Sponge
bathes?" he asked teasingly.
"No it doesn't…" Kat said flatly. "It includes me making sure you
don't get yourself in trouble."
"Hate to tell you this, sweetheart, but I'm pure trouble." Nicholos
stated. He slowly slid himself off of the exam table and began to look
around for his clothing.
Kat pointed to a table to the left. "Good then I'll have my hands
full with you then…"
"Think of the possibilities..." he replied with a laugh. Looking to
his left, Nicholos spotted his clothing. He made the way over to them
and began to pull them on. He pulled his legs into the black jeans first.
"Right…" Kat said softly and sighed crossing her arms. She just
wanted the old Drake back not this Nicholas guy. "I have an extra
room in my apartment that you'll be staying in."
"I take it that I don't have a choice in the matter?" Nicholos
questioned as he stood up, pulling the jeans the rest of the way up
his legs. He started working the zipper and button as he awaited her
response.
"No you don't." Kat replied watching him get dressed…it was hard not
too. "Hope you like dogs, cause if you don't too bad."
"Love 'em." Nicholos replied before letting out a shrill whistle. What
had appeared to be a ball of fluff laying against the wall popped up
its head.
Kat looked over at the large Alaskan Malamute sit up from its spot.
She hadn't seen him before but then again she wasn't really paying
attention. "Ok then… do you have clothes or whatnot that you need to
get?"
Nicholos let out a shrug before pulling his black top over his head.
"Not too sure about that. Bandit... come." he called. The dog got up
off of the floor and moved over to his master.
"Ok then… we can just go and get you settled in then." Kat explained
and watched Drake with the dog he called Bandit.
"Lead the way then.... I guess. We'll follow."
"Ok then…" Kat turned on her heels and walked out of the room and went
to leave the medical lab.
Nicholos made his way behind her, Bandit faithfully following his master.
Kat waited for Drake to catch up so she could get him into the
elevator and through security. Once they were in the elevator she
pressed the button to take them up to Uncle Chucks Video so she could
take him to her apartment. She continued to glance at him… this was
going to be hard.
Nicholos slid into the elevator right beside Kat, noticing her
glances. Finally he turned fully to her, "What do keep staring at me for?"
"Nothing… you just look familiar…" Kat shrugged and turned her
attention to him. "That's all."
Nicholos crossed his arms over his chest. "Oh do I? Wanna tell me how
familiar?"
"Nope… you just look familiar. Probably have one of those faces."
Kat explained before looking back at the elevator doors.
Nicholos nodded his head, as he leaned against the back wall of the
elevator.
Kat just stood in silence but she just tapped her foot lightly against
the floor. This made her uncomfortable slightly. It was just weird
having Drake there… but not really having "him" there.
"Nervous much?" He asked with a smirk. He had easily picked up on the
tapping of her foot since it was the only sound within the elevator.
"Nope…" Kat shook her head and walked out of the elevator when the
doors open. She walked through the back maintenance room of Uncle
Chucks Video and opened up the door heading out into the hall way.
They were still in the back of the store where no one could see them
and headed to the back door to leave.
Nicholos and Bandit stayed behind Kat, keeping very close to her.
Nicholos didn't want to take the chance of getting lost. He had no
clue as to where he was.
Kat went through the side door to the parking garage to go up to her
Jeep. She headed up to the second level and unlocked her steel blue
metallic Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. "Over here." She said softly and
walked over to it.
Nicholos continued to follow Kat. "Coming, dear." he called.
Kat looked back at him with an eyebrow raised. "Right…" She opened
up the back door got Bandit to jump in then got in the front seat herself.
Nicholos climbed into the passenger seat. As he was fastening his
seatbelt, he turned to look to make sure that Bandit was laying down
in the back seat. He smiled as the dog laid down, before returning his
attention to Kat. "So where is this apartment of yours?"
"It's not that far away… about 10 minutes." Kat shrugged and started
up the Rubicon before backing out of the spot she was parked in. A
few minutes later she was down the ramp and out on the road heading
towards her apartment.
Nicholos nodded, looking out the passenger window to take in the sites
of the city.
Like Kat said within about 10 minutes she was parking in her parking
spot in the parking garage connected to her apartment complex. Kat
got out and opened up the door for Bandit before walking around the
back of the Jeep. "This way." She waved for him to follow and headed
over to the elevator.
Bandit stayed beside the Jeep, waiting for Nicholos to get out of the
vehicle. Nicholos smirked as he climbed out and patted the dog on his
head. "Good boy...." he whispered, quietly closing the door behind
him. He made his way back over towards Kat, placing his hand on the
small of her back as he followed after her.
Kat resisted the urge to step closer to him but stepped away from him
slightly as they got to the elevator. Once it arrived she walked in
and waited for him and Bandit to come before pushing the 10th floor
button.
Nicholos noticed how she stepped away from him; it was almost as if
she didn't want to do so. He followed her into the elevator as did
Bandit. Nicholos wanted to know why he felt as if Kat had wanted to
step into him, so he did just that. He stepped further into the
elevator, all the way up into Kat's space.
"What are you doing?" Kat asked staring up at him before stepping back
a little bit from him. She needed to distance herself from him.
Now Nicholos could tell that he was definitely getting to her. He
again stepped in closer to her again, making sure that her back was
against the back wall. He smiled down at her.
Kat stared up at him, "what are you doing?" She asked again a little
more softly the second time.
"Just seeing why it seems you keep wanting to lean further into me,
and yet you keep pushing yourself to back away from me all at the same
time." Nicholos replied, dipping his head in closer.
"All the time… we just met ok…" Kat had to control her self. She
stuck her hand out and placed it on his chest pushing him back a
little bit from her. She control, yes that's what she needed.
"Then why do I have the feeling that I've been..... under your skin
for longer than just the past hour?" Nicholos stated, not exactly
ready to completely back down.
"Look buddy you are not under my skin ok?" Kat raised an eyebrow at
him and walked away him when the elevator door opened to their right.
"Sure.... just keep telling yourself that." Nicholos replied as he
followed behind her. Bandit followed right behind, keeping pace with
Nicholos.
Kat pulled out her keys and unlocked her apartment opening up the door
slowly and turning on the light when she walked in. "Here it is."
She smiled slightly. Kat heard yapping from the kitchen and walked
over to the kitchen and took down the small gate and picked up the
puppy behind it before she ran off. "How's my little Onyx doing?"
Nicholos walked slowly into the apartment, looking around, and taking
in the place. He spotted the small dog and turned his eyes down to
Bandit. He wasn't sure how the bigger dog would be with Onyx. Stooping
down, he wrapped his fingers under Bandits collar in case his dog
decided to have a little 'snack'.
Kat kissed Onyx's head before walking over to him. "This is Onyx;
she's only a few months." She explained with a smile.
Nicholos smiled, watching as Bandit inched forward towards the puppy.
When he didn't snap, snarl, or growl at the puppy, Nicholos let go of
Bandit's collar. "Well it's a pleasure to meet you, Onyx." he replied,
leaning forward and scratching behind her ears.
She smiled and put Onyx down watching her interact with Bandit making
sure he didn't try and eat her. "Careful Bandit she'll be bigger than
you when she's full grown." She smirked brightly.
Bandit looked up at Kat like she was crazy, but finally moved on
towards the couch, jumping up on it and laying down. "I think he says
we're staying." Nicholos replied with a slight laugh. He stood up
after petting Onyx for another minute.
"Good cause you really didn't have much choice." Kat smirked and
walked off as Onyx trotted off to disturb Bandit on the couch. "She's
going to have a field day with him. Come on I'll show you your room."
She waved for him to follow.
Nicholos smiled as he followed her down the hall. "Now would that room
happen to be the same as your's?" Nicholos asked. He stopped suddenly
as a picture setting on the mantle caught his attention. Turning
Nicholos made his way over to the mantle and picked up the picture frame.
"No it wouldn't…" Kat explained and headed over to the room he'd be
staying in and opened up the door. "Here you go."
Nicholos of course hadn't followed her. He had stopped back in the
living room and was now confused by the image held within the picture
frame now held in his hands.
Kat looked back not hearing or seeing him. "Over here…" She waved at
him before seeing him staring at a picture. Her eyes widened and she
walked over quickly to him and grabbed the picture frame from him hold
it against her chest. "Your room is over there." She pointed at the
open door.
"We don't know each other?" he asked again. "I think you need to tell
me a few things, because that picture tells me your lying." he stated.
"You shouldn't have seen this picture…" Kat said walking away from him.
Nicholos continued to follow her. "Now if I'm not mistaken that was a
picture of you and .... me. Why don't you explain why I'm in that
picture to me. I have every right to know."
"Not yet you don't…" Kat said softly and continued to walk away from
him into her bedroom gathering up some of the other pictures and
placing them into one of her drawers.
"Not yet.... Dammit.... how in the hell am I supposed to trust you, if
you aren't being honest with me? I saw the picture, Kat...." Nicholos
began.
"I'm not being honest with you /because/ I was told not to…" Kat
answered not looking at him.
"Tell me how long we've known each other. I deserve to know...."
Nicholos replied, turning her to face him once again. "Come on, Kitten..."
Kat sighed, "I shouldn't tell you…" She looked down from him.
Something was pulling Nicholos towards Kat, but what it was he wasn't
exactly sure. He'd just called her 'Kitten' and had no idea where
that'd come from either. He slid down the wall, sitting with his head
tucked between his knees, trying to slow down the spinning.
"Just… take a deep breath…" Kat said softly and kneel down in front of
him. Her hand reached out and ran her hand through his hair gently.
Nicholos did as she told him, inhaling deeply. He let the breath out
slowly. He repeated the motion again, as he felt his fingers running
slowly through his hair. He looked up at her and gave her a soft
smile, reminiscent of the old him. "I'm ok, Kitten." he told her. He
took her hand and placed a kiss on her palm.
That was the Drake she knew… maybe having him here would be a good
thing with him remembering and all. "I know this is hard… but I can't
tell you everything right now."
"What can you tell me?" he asked, running his thumb over her cheek.
"You just can't know right now… you aren't you…" Kat stated softly
before standing up and running her hand over the top of her head.
"I'm not me..... You know you aren't helping very much by continuing
to confuse me."
Kat sighed and went over sitting down, "I'm sorry…" She rubbed her
face, she was ordered not to tell him but a part of her wanted too.
"I was ordered not too."
"Fuck the orders...." Nicholos replied. "You know something about me."
He said, crawling over to her. He placed both of his hands on her
knees looking up into her eyes.
She huffed and looked him straight in the eye. "You are not Nicholos
Kinsington…"
"I figured that by the fact that the doctor continued to call me Mr.
Andrews."
"Your name is Drake Andrews. We worked together for several years
doing undercover missions together." Kat explained to him. "You went
on a mission a long you were gone for months and then came back like
this."
"Now was that so hard, Kitten?" Nicholos asked. He felt Bandit come up
and lay his head on Kat's lap on top of his hands. "So my name is
actually Drake? What did I do?"
"Yes your name is Drake you work for the CIA as a weapons specialist
and an undercover operative." Kat explained still looking him in the eye.
Nicholos smiled up at her. Leaning up, he pulled her down to him and
pressed his lips to her. He wasn't sure where that came from, but he
couldn't stop himself.
Kat started to kiss her back but quickly pulled back putting her hand
up to her lips. He wasn't Drake. She wanted him to be but he wasn't
and he didn't remember the times they had shared together. It just
wasn't right.
Nicholos was shocked that she'd pulled back. "What'd I do wrong?" he
asked in a whisper.
"You aren't you…" She said softly not looking at him and trying not
let her tears that were building up fall onto her cheeks.
Nicholos bowed his head, figuring that she was probably right. He got
up slowly and made his way to his room. He fell to the bed, hoping
that the slow ebb in his head would stop.
Kat sighed and heard the pitter patter of little feet trot into the
bedroom. She looked down and noticed Onyx staring up at her. "Hi
baby…" Kat picked her up and crawled back onto the bed more before
laying down and placed Onyx on her stomach patting her softly. She
just wanted her Drake back…not this Nicholos.
Nicholos rolled over onto his back and stared up at the ceiling.

Kat speed walked down the hallway and into Director Shaw's office
without knocking. "Is it true? You found him?" Kat said staring at
Shaw behind the desk.
Chris looked up from her paperwork. "Yes it's true…" She closed up
her folder and stood up.
"Well can I see him?" Kat asked anxiously.
"Mr. Andrews is downstairs in medical getting all checked out." Shaw
explained.
Kat scratched the back of her neck. "So does that mean I can see him?"
Chris sighed and walked over to the woman standing near her door.
"Follow me…" Shaw walked past her and over the elevator. She slid her
keycard through the lock when they reached the elevator, put her code
in, and then pressed her thumb on the scanner. The elevator doors
opened and she walked in with Kat right on her heels.
Kat just tapped her foot lightly on her floor; it was part anxious
part nervous. She hadn't seen Drake Andrews for a year and she missed
him. Kat followed the security procedures after Chris and placed her
hand on a bio scanner at the security desk right outside of the
elevator.
The duo walked down the hall a few feet to the medical lab. Chris
stopped and slid her keycard through the lock, entered her code, and
scanner her thumb just like before. The light turned green and the
glass doors in front of her slid open. Chris walked into the lab with
Kat right behind her, "Dr. Evans?" Shaw called out as they walked
into the lab more.
Dr. Evans was in the back of the medical labs with a young man
checking him over. He had been busy the past few hours, running every
test that he medically could while the young man had been unconscious.
Now his patient was wide awake and didn't look too thrilled at being
poked and prodded.
At the sound of the doors to his lab swooshing open, Nate turned his
head. He gave out a slight sigh of relief when he heard Director Shaw
calling his name. "I'm back here, Director." he returned, moving his
attention once again to his patient.
"Mr. Andrews, you're not getting out of here until I authorize it. So
just lay back, relax, and let me run my tests. No debates, no buts,
just get over it." Nate replied, returning to the chart he was writing up.
Shaw headed back to where she heard Evan's answer her call. They
headed to a private infirmary room and walked in. "So Doctor how is he?"
Kat stopped at the door and looked at Drake on the med bed. She
didn't know what to say or do.
Nate looked up from the chart he'd been preparing for the Director as
well as for his files. "Physically there is absolutely nothing wrong
with him except for the bullet wound in his side. I don't foresee that
causing Mr. Andrews too much trouble as long as he takes care of
himself." Well he'd now gotten the easy part out, time for the part he
wasn't too thrilled he had to share. He knew that this needed to be
addressed with the utmost care, but with his patient he doubted it
would be.
"Doctor, how many times do I have to tell you that my name isn't Mr.
Andrews. I don't even know anyone with the last name Andrews." the
patient replied. He couldn't believe how dense this doctor was. "And
yes, I'll take good care of this wound. I outta know how to do so
without leaving too bad of a scar. Can I go now?" He looked around the
room again, taking in the appearance of the director, but not getting
any kind of sense that he knew her.
"No!" Nate stated emphatically. He returned his attention to Director
Shaw. "This is the problem. He has no memory of his past. Everything
seems to be fine mentally as well, except for this amnesia. I've run
MRI's, and every other brain scan that I can. All functions appear to
be absolutely normal.
Nate turned to his patient. "Until I know what you wish to be called,
I will continue to refer to you as the only name we have for you, Mr.
Andrews." He noticed Kat standing in the doorway. "Do either of the
women in this room look familiar to you?"
The patient turned his attention from Director Shaw to the young
blonde standing in the doorway with a disgruntled sigh. He allowed his
eyes to lock with hers for all of a second before turning back to the
doctor. "No. And as for my name, it's Nicholos. Nicholos Kinsington."
Shaw stepped forward more towards Doctor Evans, "he has amnesia?" She
questioned at him and looked at Andrews who was on the bed.
Kat just stared at Drake…he didn't remember her. That wasn't what she
expected that was for sure. Hell they were married…secretly yes but
they were still married. She remained silent and listened to Director
Shaw and Doctor Evans talk.
Nate turned his full attention to the director, no longer keeping any
of his major focus on Drake or any on Kat. "Yes, it's quite a strange
case at that. I'd like to have someone research his past case files as
the name he just gave us does sound quite familiar to even myself. I
may not have been here that long, but I do seem to recall the
Kinsington name from somewhere." he said, running his fingers along
his chin as he began to ponder this small bit of information.
"If you take a picture, it just might last longer." Nicholos replied
to the Director. He then noticed that the other woman had as of yet to
even step foot into the room. Turning his own attention towards her,
he gave her a small smirk as he stated, "I won't bite... unless you
ask of course."
He looked her over, giving her more than a once over. She was indeed
quite beautiful, something that he wouldn't pass up on ever. But there
was so much more to her, he just couldn't put his finger on it.
"Nicholos Kinsington was one of Drakes aliases when he went on
undercover missions…" Kat said softly and looked away from Drake and
at Shaw and Evans. "It was his alias for his long deep cover mission
for the CIA."
Shaw nodded in reply, "I remember reading that in his file they sent
to me. We wanted him to join APO when he got back from his mission."
She looked over at Kat for a second before looking at Evans. "So
what do we need to do to get his memory back?"
Nicholos looked back and forth between the two women. "Will you at
least stop talking about me as if I wasn't even in the room?" he
stated. He hated it when people did that. "And Nicholos Kinsington is
my name, not some alias as you have been putting it. And what is this
APO you keep mentioning?"
"For now... nothing. He needs to be treated as he normally would have
been. It's going to take time for his mind to fully heal and his
memory will slowly come back to him. All we have to do is wait....
which means no giving him information about his past." Evans stated.
"Wouldn't giving him information about his past help him remember more
quickly?" Shaw asked, she was no scientist but that seemed like the
most logical thing to do.
"Normally, I would say yes to do just that. But in this case, Mr.
Kinsington here is referring to himself as a completely different man.
Talking about past missions with him might be helpful, but telling him
about his daily routines and such could be detrimental." Evans replied.
Shaw looked at Drake then at Kat. "I need to speak to you two." She
said looking at Kat and Evans. She walked out of the room with Evans
and Kat right on her heels. Chris waited for the door to shut before
speaking again. "What if I place him in Agent Bachmeier's care…?
He'd be around someone who worked closely with him for a few years but
she wouldn't try and encourage his past life." She said directing the
end part of the sentence to Kat.
Evans nodded his head. "For now that seems like an acceptable plan.
This way tabs can be kept on him, and if there are any problems Agent
Bachmeier can bring him in immediately."
"Ok then it's settled…" Shaw nodded and looked over at Kat. "He will
remain in your care… but you will not talk to him about his real self,
the last thing we need is for him to not remember because you start
pushing him."
"Yes ma'am…" Kat nodded in reply, it would be hard not to say anything
but she would be able to do it.
"Now if he remembers anything write it down make a journal whatever
you want to do." Shaw explained to her.
Evans nodded. "Yes, and I'd like to see him at least once every other
week for normal check-ups. I want to also be able to record his
progress and make sure that he's not sliding in the reverse direction.
We want Agent Andrews back in full capacity."
"Ok…" Kat nodded in reply. "I can make a journal of thing that he
remember and stuff then bring it back to you to review." Kat told
Evans before continuing. "What kind of things should I say to him to
try and encourage his memory to come back?"
"For right now, I think it's best to just try and allow his memory to
come back on it's own. Little things he sees or hears in normal
conversation might be able to trigger something in his memory. But as
for certain things, there's nothing I can say for certain."
"Alright I'll just do everything I normal do but not mention his real
name Drake and other things about the real him." Kat explained what
her intentions were to the others. "Where should he stay?"
"That, Agent Bachmeier, is entirely up to you."
"Great… well I have an extra room in my apartment, he could stay there
and I could keep an eye on him more…" She offered.
Shaw nodded, "sounds good."
"Should I go talk to him?" Kat asked mainly looking at Evans.
"Go right ahead. I expect to see him in a week or two, even if you
have to drag him here."
"That won't be a problem…" Kat huffed and turned around walking back
into the room. She gave Drake a small smile looking at him. "Hi I'm

"Macayle, will you show Agent Helms to the Sciences lab?" Director
Shaw asked as she ushered the man out of her office and into her
secretary's. She didn't even wait for the other woman's reply before
she turned around and disappeared again. She had so much work to do.
The secretary, Macayle Parker, raised a delicate eyebrow before
muttering, "Sure." She stood up and then looked at the man, narrowing
her eyes every so slightly. "You look familiar," she said flatly
before heading towards the door. She didn't give him a chance to say
anything before giving him a lazy wave and adding, "Come on."
Ajax stood there kinda confused for a minute; this wasn't his cup of
tea really. The minute he noticed the secretary leave he snapped out
of his and quickly followed her. "I look familiar?" He asked his
Greek accent coming out walking towards the elevator with Macayle.
"Yes," was her reply. She slid her keycard through the lock when they
reached the elevator, put her code in, and then pressed her thumb on
the scanner. A moment later, the doors slid open and the pair stepped
inside. "What are you?" she asked.
"I'm an Archeologist…why?" He asked stepping into the elevator. "Is
it a good kinda familiar? Or a bad one?" Jax raised an eyebrow at her.
Macayle didn't answer his questions directly. She stared at him for a
long moment before saying, "You'll be working with my sister. Do you
have a twin?"
"Sister ok… and no I don't have a twin." Jax answered. "I mean I
have a cousin… we look practically alike though…" He shrugged and
walked out of the elevator with Macayle and flashed his newly printed
bag to the security office at the door. Jax was about to keep walking
when he noticed Macayle stop at the desk placing her hand on scanner.
He stopped and walked over doing the same, he had gone to the
security office before heading to Director Shaw's office going through
all the clearance procedure; finger and hand scans, codes, and an ID.
Macayle waited for him to finish before she started walking again. "On
your right you have the security office, the locker rooms and the
gym," she began, deciding she might as well give him a little bit of a
tour. "On the left is the infirmary and the vault." When they reached
the end of the hall, they turned the corner and she continued with her
tour. "On your right here, you have the bunks, Intelligence,
Linguistics, and the restrooms are all the way at the end. And on the
left is still the vault and then the Sciences lab."
"Alright gotcha…" Ajax nodded and looked at everything as they walked
by. He had a knack for remember detail it was like encoded into his
genetic make up. You could say a photographic like memory was one of
his talents but he tried not to have a big head because of it.
They reached the Sciences lab and Macayle slid her keycard through the
lock, entered her code, and scanner her thumb just like before. The
light turned green and the glass door in front of them slid open. "We
like security here," she said randomly. "This is the Sciences lab."
She pointed out the different stations, labeling them as she went
along. "And the last one in the corner is Anthropology and that Jolly
Green there hovering over that tribal vase thing and squinting as
though she thinks it squeezes more intelligence out of her brain cells
is my sister, Justice."
"I noticed…" He nodded slowly and looked around at the large science
lab. It was very high tech. The Smithsonian was high tech but this
was like way beyond that. "Cool…" He said softly looked around before
he looked over to Macayle was pointing. Jax couldn't help but raise
an eyebrow at the woman; he couldn't help but stare for a moment.
"Sister huh?"
"Yes." She stared at the man just for a moment, noticing the way he
was just gazing at her sister. Men. "I can introduce you. Come on."
She wandered over to her sister's station and leaned forward to stare
at the vase just as her sister was. "Where'd you get this one?" she
asked, making Justice jump just a bit. "Looks like something you'd get
at Pier 1 Imports."
Justice straightened up and glared at her sister for just a moment.
"It's /not/ from Pier 1 Imports, whatever that is. This is a
Panathenaic vase similar in design to the one housed at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was once filled with precious Attic
olive oil from a grove sacred to the Greek goddess Athena."
"You sure? I'm pretty sure I saw something similar next to the African
Tribal Elephant Flower Vase."
Jax slowly walked around the table to the other side looking at vase,
"Panathenaic Amphora very preserved. I found one at a site once… not
this enacted though." He looked at the vase before looking up at the
girls across from him.
Justice glanced at Jax and then back at the vase. "It's exquisite,
isn't it? It's rare to find anything akin to this in one piece."
"I found that Roman Hero Vase thing from whenever on eBay and bought
it for your birthday," Macayle offered unhelpfully.
Justice didn't even look at her. "Roman Herodian Vase from 50AD, and a
sad imitation of it."
"Seventy dollars worth of sad imitation," Macayle countered, crossing
her arms. "And besides, isn't it the thought that counts?"
"That's why I kept it."
"And what's your reasoning behind it being in your bedroom closet?"
Justice cocked an eyebrow as she turned her head to look at her little
sister. "You went in my closet?"
"Yes, I was looking for shoes."
"You /have/ shoes."
"Yes, I know."
Jax looked at the two girls, they were an odd bunch. He reached out
to tip the vase a little bit to get a better look at. Jax shrugged
his jacket looser on his right arm slightly, so he could use it to
touch the vase with.
"Don't touch it!" Justice suddenly exclaimed, carefully scooping the
vase away from the man she didn't know. "You could compromise findings
by just touching it, sleeve or no sleeve." She frowned and placed it
back down gently. "Who are you anyway?"
"I'm Ajax Helms," he raised an eyebrow a little watching her scoop
away the vase from him. "Call me Jax though."
"Named after the legendary king of Salamis from Homer's 'Iliad'?"
Justice questioned.
"Or the Ajax Cleanser?" Macayle chimed, smirking ever so slightly.
"You know, 'You'll stop paying the elbow tax, when you start cleaning
with Ajax!'" Her rendition of the commercial jingle didn't quite sound
the same given that she had deadpanned it.
The older of the Parker sisters looked at the younger and said, "I
don't know what that means."
"You know your Greek mythology." He smirked. "And yes I was." Jax
looked at the two girls then narrowed his eyes a little bit at
Macayle. "Never sing that again." He couldn't help but smirk a
little bit after. "Did you know he was worshipped at Athens, where he
had a statue in the market-place, and the tribe Aiantis was named
after him?" Jax looked at Justice with a smile, letting one of his
random facts come out.
"Of course," Justice replied. She knew lots about this sort of thing.
"I had the chance to look over some of the artifacts excavated from a
Mycenaean palace on Salamis that's believed to have maybe been home to
Ajax."
"Ajax was killed by Eric Bana in 'Troy'," Cayle decided to input.
Justice gave her a look. "I don't know what that means either."
"Never mind."
"I was on a dig there once." Jax smiled at her. "It was
fascinating." He watching her, it was kinda nice to know someone that
actually knew the strange facts he did. It was hard to find people
like that. Jax looked at Macayle, "Troy was a good movie." His
glanced at Justice. "You've never seen the movie before?"
"Justice doesn't watch TV or movies," Macayle informed him before her
sister could say anything. "Especially movies that are based on
historical fact. She says they're always taken vastly out of context
and they're completely unbelievable."
Justice was unfazed. "They are."
Cayle gave him a "See?" look before saying, "She doesn't even own a TV."
"You don't own a TV?" Jax asked shocked.
"I don't have time to watch television," Justice stated simply. "Nor
do I have a desire to anyway."
"I actually had to buy her an excuse to go home or else she'd just
stay here," Cayle told him, shaking her head.
"What did you buy here?" Jax asked glancing over at Cayle. He looked
back over at Justice… she was a unique one, that was for sure.
"A puppy."
Justice shook her head and let out a slightly annoyed sigh. "A dog
that I don't need nor want."
"She secretly adores him," Cayle told Jax.
"What is there to adore? It uses my floor as a toilet, it smells, it
drools, it chewed up my Makonde Likola mask-"
"That thing was freaky anyway."
"Beside the point."
"How could you not like puppies?" Jax asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I personally love dogs and have two of them." He smiled he loved his
dogs. "You didn't want a puppy?" What was this girl on?
"I don't have time for a puppy," Justice said. "And no, I didn't and
still don't want it." She couldn't understand why she should want one.
Macayle smirked slightly. "She doesn't want it and yet she named it
after her favorite novelist. I think that says something."
Justice frowned. "You told me that I should name it something that
showed thought and stop just calling it 'Dog'."
"And I'm very proud of you for doing that." The younger of the Parkers
smiled cheekily and then looked at Jax. "It took me over a month to
convince her to name him."
"What did you name it?" Jax asked with a smile. These two were
interesting that was for sure. Definitely sisters. Odd sisters, but
related none the less.
"Reichs," Macayle answered when Justice didn't speak right away.
"After Kathy Reichs. She writes the only fiction that Justice will read."
"Why do you insist on telling everyone everything about me?" Justice
asked, obviously annoyed. She was a private person and she didn't like
to just blurt every little fact about her life to random people.
"Because."
"That's not an answer."
"I've read some of those books." He smiled brightly. "They're pretty
good." Jax turned his attention to Justice. "You know we will be
working together from time to time, it's good to find out some things
about the people you work with. It creates a better atmosphere."
"When we're working together, we'll be /working/ together," Justice
pointed out. "We won't be here to socialize."
Cayle opened her mouth to reply, but was distracted when her headset
was paged. She touched the button on her ear, saying, "I'll be right
up." She dropped her hand. "Director Shaw needs a coffee fix." She
paused a moment, pulling something out of her pocket and handing it to
Jax. It was a little black wrap-around-your-ear radio like she had on.
"This is how everyone keeps in contact. Welcome to APO." She patted
Jax on the shoulder and gave him an offbeat smile. "Good luck." And
then she turned and headed off to get the Director her coffee.
"Umm… thanks I think?" He watched her walk away and looked over at
Justice. "She's an interesting one." Jax smiled brightly at her.
"So you're an Anthropologist huh?"
"Yes," she replied, "And you're what? An archeologist?" She wasn't
really in the mood to hold a conversation, but she was always being
told by her sister and other people that she needed to be more
personable. Maybe they were right?
"That would be me." He smiled brightly. "Archeologist and Linguist I
might add." Jax was proud of his work and degrees.
Justice raised an eyebrow at him. "Wonderful," she said after a
moment. "Your work station is over there." She pointed to the
archeology section and then turned back to what she was working on.
"Thanks…" Jax raised an eyebrow at her. "You're not the social type
are you?"
"Not particularly, no," she answered, "Especially when I have a ton of
work to do."
"Right…" He said softly and looked at her as she started up her work
again. "So where did you work before this?"
Justice didn't bother to look up at him. She just sighed and then
finally spoke. "I was a professor at UCLA," she told him, not really
sure why she should bother. It wasn't that she wanted to come off as
cold; she just had a lot of work to do.
"UCLA nice," he smiled and watched her. "You look busy I'll leave you
alone for a while… It was nice meeting you." Jax gave her a soft smile
before walking over to the Archeology station.
Justice turned her head to watch him go out of the corner of her eye.
She really didn't want to be mean, but she really wasn't good with
people. Her sister was "working with her" on it, but they hadn't
progressed very far. ...Maybe she'd try working on it later and try to
be nice to the guy...Yes, definitely /later/.

I just made a Legion character, he's up on the website now with the
trailer of the movie I blatantly stole him from. :) Enjoy!
Anyone cooking up any good plotlines yet?

As most of you know I've been revamping the game and the site with the
help of my AGMs :) And I'm pleased to say that everything is done! :)
YAY! ehehe
There are already 4 units built with room for many more teammates. So
if you are interested in continuing the RPG go to the site fill out a
bio and send it on in (to the email that is listed on the website) :)
If you are no longer interested then I'd like for you to notify me so
I can take you off the group. Just so we don't keep wondering where
you are when you don't want to be involved with the group.
Also we have two newbies joining us :) Michaela and Cameron who have
already summitted bios to me and they are up on the site! Along with
some other bios i've gotten in. In saying that if anyone knows of
anyone who is interested in an Alias type game send them on over! We
love newbies! ehehehe
So with that I hope everyone has fun with the new RPG, I know I'm
excited! And I'd like to let everyone know that within the next
couple of days you'll be seeing posts starting to come in :) And
hopefully many more after that!

I'm very pleased to announce that Alias: APO is coming back :) The
site is pretty much done except for the NPC bios which I'm currently
working on. If you are still interested in the game check out the new
site http://alias_apo.freespaces.com/
Now it's very very important that you read the Briefing Room, Rules,
and well pretty much everything LOL. The game is completely different
than the last game... in many ways... if you'd like to bring over a
character from the last game you may, just keep in mind that nothing
in that game has happened in this game. So any missions you did or
character development you made with other characters never happened if
you bring them over to this game. Unless you and another player want
what you built in the last game then you can put it in your bio that
they've met before APO or whatnot.
I just posted a brand new Application some things have changed on it
so make sure that you check that out as well. The set up of the game
is different as well. There are no Recon Unit, UC unit, ect. and
there are no just 3 handlers. There will be individual units each
with their own Handler (who basically is a CO, if that makes more
sence). I will be putting the units together, placing character that
I think will work well together with each other. And once your unit
is put together everyone can think of a Unit Logo and Name (make them
interesting), so each unit is very different. This gives the unit
freedom to create their own mission ideas, the first few months I'm
going to request that the unit's handler run the mission proposal by
me first then once I know you've gotten a feel for the game then I'll
let your minds free to do pretty much whatever. Also one more thing I
would suggest that your handler creates your own little yahoo group
for your unit so you can converse easily with everyone on your unit to
think up of mission ideas, jps, or whatever you want to do.
I'm hoping to get alllll of the NPC bios done and up in the next few
weeks and also whatever bio's you make (and send me) so we can start
sometime in January. :) If you have any questions feel free to email
me at shadowfox_fuse@... or ElektricQuest@...
Umm...I think that's it..... hehehe Hope everyone checks out the new
site!!

Ok so I've thought long and hard on this...but I'm going to put the
RPG on hiatus for a while. I've been REALLY thinking about trashing
the game and starting off fresh with a better structure and stuff. So
for now I'm going to put us on hiatus until I come up with a final
solution. I'll give you guys all an update as my thoughts come to me
*nods*.
I know a lot of you like the RPG and I love it too. But it needs more
structure and stuff. So I'm going to ponder for the rest of the
summer and maybe when I get back to school I'll open up a new APO
*nods* and hopefully it will be sooooooo much better! If you have any
ideas or thoughts on how to make the RPG better, your opinions would
be GREATLY taken and considered!

Kayla cried as she looked around the room confused and wishing there
was someone there who could tell her what was going on. Frantically
looking around, she finally found the hospital bed remote and started
to push the button to summon the nurse. She wanted out of there.
She needed to find Dru and she needed to get her baby girl back.
Dru had been at work when he had found out what had happened.
Immediately he was on his way to the hospital, knowing he needed to
get to Kayla. She would be freaking out about this whole thing. Once
he knew some other agents were on the case he had left.
Finally he walked into the hospital room and over to the bed. "Hey
sweetie..."
"Dru! Dru! Rafe took her..." she said in a panic, but then added
quietly a bit confused. "I think..." she said looking down trying to
remember if that was exactly what had happened or if she was just
trying to fill in the gaps... But who else would take Emery?
"I know..." He said quietly, his face showing the strain he had been
going through since finding out what had happened. "And we're gonna
get her back, but you need to calm down, ok?" He said in a soothing
tone, walking closer and running a hand over her hair.
"I need my clothes," she said. Kayla just wanted to get out of there
and start looking for Emery. She knew Rafe had places all over the
world. That just made it harder to track down Emery.
"You need to slow down..." Dru said.
She frowned. Slow down? Didn't he understand this was her slow
down? She could do freaked out and panicked much better than
this. "Dru...I can't just stay here..."
"Kayla, you were hurt."
"My baby is out there..." she whispered looking up at him. Sure, she
had been freaked out about having a baby, but she loved Emery more
than anything. Emery, Dru, and Kyleigh were her life. She couldn't
live with one part missing.
"I know, and there are already people looking to find her and we'll
go to help them soon enough. I promise we're not losing any time on
this, but you were still injured, sweetie..."
"I feel better," she said not really sure of what she was saying.
Kayla just wanted Emery back. "She's probably scared... She doesn't
know anyone, but us..."
"Kayla we can't do anything more right now than is already being
done."
She reached out and ran her arm around his back and rested her head
on his shoulder. "I can't believe I let him take her..."
"You didn't let him, he attacked you..."
Kayla sighed wondering if Emery was okay. She didn't think Rafe
would hurt her, but that still didn't stop her from worrying. "He
finally did what he said he was going to do..." she whispered.
"And we're going to get her back..."
"You don't think she got hurt in the accident, do you?" she asked
moving back to look up into his face a bit concerned. Kayla had
thought that the baby car seat would have prevented injury,
especially with all the airbags, but one could never be too sure.
"From the signs at the accident it doesn't look like she was hurt.."
Dru tried to assure her. "And I'm sure she would have shown up at a
hospital if that had happened."
Kayla nodded and then leaned against Dru again, "I just...I wanted to
start to try and live again...normally..." she whispered. She wanted
to work and have a routine, even if she was only working a couple
hours a day.
"We will..."
"What time is it?" she asked suddenly remembering that Kyleigh was in
school and that someone had to pick her up. The last thing they
needed was Kyleigh freaking out thinking that she was forgotten.
"Don't worry, Kyleigh's with my sister." He said, trying to calm her.
She sighed and rubbed her forehead, it hurt. "I worry. It's part of
being a mom..."
"And you're a very good mom." He said, kissing her temple lightly.
"How long do I have to stay here?" she asked quietly closing her eyes
as she leaned more heavily against him relaxing.
"I don't know, I haven't talked to the doctor who treated you yet."
Kayla wrapped her other arm around Dru's chest. "I love you..." Her
head hurt, but other than that, she felt fine. Her concern was more
on her daughter.
"Love you, too." He replied and kissed the top of her head gently.
"Will you see when I can go?" she asked, still quiet. Kayla wanted
out, even if that meant going home. She just wanted out of the
hospital.
"I don't know who your doctor is but the nurses said he would be in
to check on you soon."
"I just want to go help look for Emery...or just go home," she
whispered.
"We will, Kayla. Soon, I promise." He said, kissing the top of her
head lightly.
She sighed and thought about Emery and their family and then asked
quietly, "Do you ever wish that I didn't have Emery?" Kayla knew
that really Emery wasn't Dru's biologically, and she really hadn't
considered how hard things could be for Dru. Dru was fathering two
girls that weren't in any ways biologically his. How hard was that
for him? How /fair/ was that to him?
"I have never thought that." He said softly, looking at her.
"It doesn't feel fair... I've made you take care of two girls that
aren't yours... And we never discussed having our own child
together," she said quietly.
"They're mine in every way that counts..."
Kayla looked up at him, "You sure?"
"Positive."
She smiled brightly and let her lips brush against his. "You
know...if you want another child, I want you to tell me..." Kayla
loved Dru so much. To her, he was perfect in so many ways...and had
saved her...
"I'm perfectly happy with the way our family is right now..." He said
with a small smile.
"You're perfect," she told him before kissing him again.
A knock on the door and the doctor entered. "So...how are you
feeling Mrs Michaels?"
"Fine. Just a little headache," Kayla responded.
He nodded. "That's to be expected. The injury wasn't that
traumatic. It was mainly just enough to knock you out. You don't
seem to have a concussion," he went on looking through the folder.
Dru listened to the doctor, rubbing Kayla's back gently as he did. He
was glad to hear that she was ok and with no serious injuries.
"You're a doctor," he said nodding to Kayla.
Kayla nodded, "We both are."
"Good," he said looking over to Dru. "She's free to go, but keep an
eye on her."
"I will." Dru nodded, glancing at Kayla.
"And my clothes are?" Kayla asked anxious to get out of there.
The doctor simply pointed to the small closet before leaving.
"Mind getting them?" she asked batting her eyes.
Dru smiled and got up, walking over to the closet and grabbing
Kayla's clothes before walking back over to her. "Here you go." He
said, laying them across her lap.
She kissed his cheek before quickly changing into them. It was nice
to actually have pants on. She wasn't used to feeling so naked.
Kayla had to admit that that was probably one of the main reasons why
hospitals sucked so much when you were a patient.

The beeping was starting to annoy Kayla. It had started off soft and
distance, but slowly it had become more pronounce. Her body was going
from its cold idle state slowly heating up as the beeping increased.
A fog of confusion clouded her head as she tried to will the beeping
to stop, but it didn’t. But it wasn’t only the beeping that was
invading her ears; there were whispers now, footfalls against a hard
floor.
Her eyelids fluttered open and immediately shut as a wave of bright
light assaulted her vision. Slowly, she tried again to open them.
Slowly, she started to recognize her surroundings. It was a hospital
room, and that beeping was one of the monitors she was hooked up to.
The white walls and a blue curtain pulled on one side. A window that
had blinds partly open. But why was she there? She didn’t remember…
Yes, she was a doctor, but that usually didn’t include being the
patient. “Drew?” she called weakly trying to sit up a bit so she
could get a better look at the room.
Kayla managed to push herself up into a semi sitting position.
Reaching up, she rubbed her forehead with one hand and brushed over a
gauze pad taped in place. She groaned slightly at the pain and the
wave of dizziness that followed. Hitting her head wasn’t something
she remembered… She started to think over what had happened…how she
and Drew had discussed her going back to work; she remembered Drew had
taken Kyleigh to school, and then she remembered. She had decided to
take Emery to work with her. She had been driving and then…she
remembered being hit and hearing the air bags inflating and holding
her like pillows. Emery…where was her baby? She remembered hearing
Emery crying and trying to get to her. “Emery?” she called out louder
this time. Where was her baby? Was she okay?

Kayla had told Dru that she wasn't sure whether she'd make it into
work that day or not. She was still iffy about it all. He had
already left for work and to drop Kyleigh off at school. But after
pacing for a good thirty minutes and feeding Emery, Kayla finally
decided that she was going into work. She dressed and dressed Emery
before taking her out to the car and locking her carrier into the car
seat base. Getting into the driver's seat, she took a deep breath
before securing her seat belt and starting the car.
Rafe sat in his new SVU, figuring he needed to change his vehicle
after his run in with Kayla at the park incase she saw what he was
driving. He sat down the street watching Kayla get into her SUV
making sure Emery was strapped in. Rafe patted the Great Pyrenees
puppy lying on his lap that he still had yet to name.
After a couple minutes of just sitting there, Kayla started down the
street trying to make herself as confident as possible about going
into work with Emery. She just couldn't see leaving her with anyone...
Starting up his small SUV and followed her down the road. He had to
plan this perfectly or everything would be screwed up. Rafe waited
for a few turns until he had found a spot where there was hardly any
traffic. He saw her turn on her blinker and started accelerating
behind her. Holding onto the puppy in his lap he smashed into the
back of Kayla's SUV sending the front into a telephone pole as she
began her turn.
Kayla had been taken by surprise and had hit the steering wheel right
before the airbags went off. Luckily having a newer vehicle, the SVU
was equipped with airbags all around.
Emery screamed in the background, pulled from her happy state of
playing with the butterfly toy that was hung on the car seat.
Rafe put puppy down on the passenger seat and got out of his vehicle
heading over to Kayla's SUV. He glanced in the driver side window
making sure Kayla was ok then opened up the back door and saw Emery
screaming in her car seat. "Hey sweetie… it's ok…" he whispered and
unbuckled her from her car seat. Rafe carefully picked her up and
made sure to grab the baby bag on the floor that Kayla had backed and
any toy that was on or around the car seat.
Looking at Kayla, Rafe headed back to his SUV that was hardly damage
just a few dents in the front bumper. He opened up his back door and
placed Emery in the car seat he had gotten and strapped her in.
"Shhhh it's ok sweetie…" He kissed the top of her head as she kept
scream, obviously traumatized by the accident.
Emery's screams slowly brought Kayla out of it, and she slowly lifted
her head. She looked over her shoulder and saw the car seat there,
but the door open. "Emery..." she whispered as she tried to open the
door, but kept missing the handle. After a few more tries, she
managed to get it open. Reaching down, she pressed the button and her
seat belt was released. Holding heavily onto the door, she managed to
get out of the vehicle and then she saw Rafe behind doing something...
"Emery..."
Rafe got into his SUV and slowly backed up picking up his cell phone
before driving away heading for the airport. He heard one of his men
answer the phone, "ready the jet." That was all he said before
hanging up. He drove a little farther before calling 911 to report
the accident; he didn't want Kayla to be hurt or seriously injured.
Kayla moved to the back of the SUV and reached in and ran her hand
along the car seat. Where was Emery? Tears fell down her face,
"Emery... Emery!" Her head was pounding, and looking around just
made her even dizzier and she slowly slid down the vehicle.
Emery continued to cry. She didn't like this seat, it wasn't the
same. It didn't have her butterfly toy hanging up.
Rafe continued to drive towards the airport, and looked back in his
mirror every once and a while. "Shhh… it's ok Emery…We're just going
on a little trip." He said softly trying to calm her down and smiled
seeing his puppy sit up and looked back at the baby wondering what was
going on.
The baby just continued to cry, "Da...Ma..." she cried out waving her
arms around. She wanted someone to come and check on her. She wasn't
used to crying for so long.
Rafe got to the airport and stopped the car near the jet. He climbed
out and slowly got Emery out of her car seat and grabbed everything,
then headed towards the jet. Rafe looked at the man standing at the
bottom of the stairs. "Get my bags and my puppy out of the car." He
ordered him and headed up the stairs taking a seat holding Emery in
his arms.
Emery coughed a bit as she tried to catch her breath and looked up at
the man. He wasn't her mom or her dad. Why was he holding her? She
just sniffled as she studied him.
"Hey sweetie…" He said softly and smiled brightly at her. "You're too
adorable." Rafe bounded her on his knee slightly.
"Mamam..." she said looking around.
"You're coming home with me sweetie…" Rafe smiled at her and tried
tickling her belly softly.
"Mamam..." she said again frowning up at him.
"I know sweetie…" he reached down and grabbed one of her toys from the
bag.
Emery grabbed the toy and then frowned up at him.
"You'll be ok." He smiled. "We're going to have a good time in
Australia."
"Mamam...Da...Dadadadda..." she babbled looking down at the toy and
waving it around a bit.
"Ya play with your toy sweetie." He smiled and held her in his lap.
Emery sighed and then threw the toy onto the floor and looked down at
it and then up at Rafe.
"You don't want that one?" Rafe asked before bending down to get it.
"Mamam..."
"Emery mom was not nice… she wouldn't let daddy see you." He said
softly. "I'm your daddy…"
Emery just looked at him weirdly and then started to cry.
"Shh… it's ok…" Rafe soothed and brought her up against his chest and
rubbed her back gently.
"Mamam...Dada..." she whispered sniffling. She wanted them. She
liked them. She wasn't used to strangers.
"You're ok…" Rafe whispered rubbing her back and kissing the side of
her head.
She sniffled more, but settled against his chest, letting her head lay
there as her little body relaxed.
"Shhh… you're ok…" Rafe said softly still rubbing her back in soothing
circles.
Bringing her hand up, she stuck her thumb in her mouth and sucked on
it. She wanted her mommy or daddy. Normally, she wouldn't suck her
thumb, but she wanted the comfort of it.
Rafe continued to rub her back in soothing circles and held her close.
"You'll be ok…"
Emery just laid there sucking her thumb not really paying any
attention to the man.
"Hey Emery you like puppies?" He asked turning her around so she
could see his puppy bounding around.
She just looked at the puppy and then back down quietly. That wasn't
one of her puppies.
"He's your puppy." Rafe smiled and held her on his knee.
Emery just frowned a bit as she sucked on her thumb. He was so not
her puppy.
"Sweetie you shouldn't suck your thumb." He explained to her before
searching through the bag for a pacifier.
But she kept sucking it anyways ignoring him. If her mommy or daddy
were there they would be playing with her and she wouldn't have been
upset in the first place and wouldn't need to suck her thumb. This
guy was crazy to think he was gonna get her to stop.
Rafe couldn't find a pacifier, but started pulling out toys offering
them to her and dancing them around trying to get her attention.
"Mamam..." she said softly before putting her thumb back into her mouth.
"She's not here sweetie…" Rafe explained trying another toy.
"MAMAMAMAMAMAM!!!" she cried out pushing the toy away.
"Shhh… she's not here." He explained.
Emery just glared at him before sticking her thumb back into her
mouth. She wanted her mom.
Rafe smirked seeing her glare at him, "you are so much like your mother…"
"Mamam!!!" Emery said brightening up a bit thinking that her mom was
coming.
"No sweetie… moms not coming." He explained softly.
She frowned and stuck her thumb back in her mouth. He was being
mean...making her think she was going home with her mom...
"You need to sleep Emery…" he explained. "We have a long flight."
"Mamam..."
"No mom."
"MA! MA!" Emery said practically shouting.
"And there's the Lopez side… you're defiant like my sister…" He
sighed, shaking his head.
"Mamam!" she continued. "MAMAMAMAMAMAMAMAMAMA!!!!"
"Shhhhh calm down…" Rafe said calmly. He knew this was going to
happen and that it would take a while for her to get used to him, but
he just had to be patient with her.
"MAMAMAM!!!" she looked around trying to see if her parents were
coming for her. "Mamam...Dada..."
"They're not coming." He explained to her lowly.
Emery frowned, "Mamam. Dada."
"No kiddo they aren't coming…"
And in went the thumb again as she glared.
Rafe just smirked at her, "so much like my sister."
Emery just looked away from him.
~*~*~
Rafe heard the pilot announce their approach to the runway and soon
enough they were at a complete stop. There was a jeep there equipped
with a car seat and Rafe strapped Emery in and made sure the puppy was
comfortable in the back before putting in the bags. He got in and
began his drive to his isolated beach house on Trinity Beach in the
Queensland's of Australia.
Emery started screaming. She wanted to go home to her mommy.
"Shh… We're almost there…" Rafe explained driving down the street
towards his house.
She continued to scream and cry. "Mamam..." she cried.
Rafe continued to tell her it was going to be ok and to quiet down.
He was just glad that they were almost to his house. Turning down
another street getting closer to his house, he approached the front
gate signaling to the guard to open up the gate. It slowly opened and
Rafe drove up the long driveway to his house.
She gasped for air, stop breathing for a couple seconds, before
sucking air in and screaming again.
Stopping in front a few people came out from the house to get the bags
and take the car to the garage. Rafe unbuckled Emery and picked her
up holding her against his shoulder. "Shhhh… we're home…" He bounced
her gently before walking up the stairs into the house.
Emery cried and waved her arms about, "Mamam..."
"She's not here…" Rafe explained to her and headed up the stairs
hearing the puppy bounding up after them.
She flailed her arms around and hit Rafe in the side of the head. She
wanted her parents, he was being mean.
"Oww…" Rafe mumbled. He grumbled a little bit, knowing that if Kayla
had just let him see her they wouldn't be in this position.
Emery continued to cry.
Rafe brought her up to the nursery and walked out onto the balcony.
"Look sweetie the ocean."
She just sniffled as she tried to catch her breath. Where was her
daddy and mommy at?
Rafe walked over to the wooden rocking chair that was outside on the
balcony and sat down. He slowly started to rock holding her close and
after a few minutes started singing an Argentinean lullaby that his
mother used to sing to him when he was upset.
