Nessie Womble?   Message List

Hi all,

I wanted to find out about a Womble called Nessie. I have found a few
references to her:

http://www.tidybag.co.uk/wombles-books/annuals.html
("Nessie" is mentioned in wombles annuals 1980 and 1991 - I dont know if
this is Nessie womble or the Loch Ness Nessie though!)

http://www.fidella.com/womble/womble_stories.html
"Hence a proper genus-species taxonomic designation would be womblus
wimbledonae (or some such - I'm not sure which Latin ending is
appropriate.) for the most famous Wombles of Wimbledon, with the
provision for other Womble species (i.e. Nessie, the Tibetan Wombles)."

But when I go to the list of Wombles, she isnt included [:-s]

The reason I am interested, is that I have a dog who was named 'Nessie'
after a womble. She, and several other West Highland White Terriers were
rescued from a puppy farm, and all were given Womble names. Wellington,
Uncle B, Miss Adelaide and Nessie are still shown on the rescue groups
web site at: http://www.cordysrescue.com.au/puppy_farm.htm

I would really like to know more about my Nessie's namesake. We dont
know anything about the past of our rescue dogs, but at least if I know
the history of her name, I will feel like I know something of her past
[:)]

Any ideas, or even better, stories and pics??

Thankyou Tara and TC! My own Nessie likes the water, so it seems like a good name for her. I will keep an eye on the Tidy Bag site to see if a picture appears...
