From the desk of Gman:

I've always preferred great television to great cinema (and Joss Whedon is one important reason why). The movies, though, do have tv beat in one big way. When you buy a ticket to see a movie, it counts. As a television viewer, if you don't have a Nielsen box, it's very difficult to get your voice heard.

With Serenity out on September 30th, we're going to get our chance to shout out our support of Joss Whedon to the Entertainment Powers That Be with the volume turned up to the max.

With the movie industry putting so much emphasis on the ticket sales during the first two weekends of a movie's run, the plan is simple. Go see Serenity during the first weekend. Then go see it again the next weekend. It could be with a different group of people. Remember, every ticket bought is a vote for Joss and you can vote more than once.

Don't stop there, though. Send each ticket stub to Universal Studios taped to a postcard letting NBC Universal know that you want to see Angel: The Movie next. Ideally, one postcard should be sent for every ticket stub. You can make it a fun project with the people you go see Serenity with.

Ticket stubs and postcards could be sent to:

Stacey Snider - Chairman
Ron Meyer - President and COO
NBC Universal Studios
100 Universal City Plaza
Universal City, CA 91608

Those of you that do go see it and send postcards and post that you did it on the site will be entered into a raffle. The winner will receive an Anya doll being generously donated by MaidenGreen. The raffle will be held around October 15. That's a deal even Anya would approve of.

Action Alert:

Amy Acker was a guest star on the WB's Supernatural on September 27. Show your support for Amy by contacting the WB. You could say in your own words that you are an Angel fan that enjoyed her appearance on Supernatural and you would like to see her again as Illyria in a tv movie produced by Joss Whedon based on Angel characters.

The phone # for the WB is 818-977-5000 (ask for voicemail feedback). Remember, the WB is located in California, so they are on Pacific Time (and are open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Mon-Fri).

Postcards could be sent to:

Mr. David Janollari
Entertainment President
The WB Network
4000 Warner Blvd
Building 34R
Burbank CA 91522

You can also e-mail the WB at faces@...

Take A Letter, Cordelia:

New Season of Televison Shows Has Many Buffy/Angel Actors Working Again!

Still, a tiny little voice in the back of my head queries "When will David have time to DO the Angel movie if the studios give us our wish?" David Boreanaz is doing a fantastic job in "Bones." I am mesmerized. (Some of it was due to the unique pleasure of seeing him in sunlight. It was just too odd!) The acting is top notch. The show's other chararcters remind me of the composition of The Scoobie gang. If this show is the success I think it will be..... our chances of wooing him away to a movie appear to be small.

Yet, Sarah Michelle Gellar managed to film movies and keep up with Joss's very hour intensive schedule. The precedent is certainly there. Who knows? Maybe the success of "Bones" can help convince studio heads that he's a more bankable star. I intend to watch "Bones" faithfully, even as I support all the efforts of the cast from our favorite parts of the Jossverse. Maybe I'll watch their appearances on their new shows and root for them, the Angel movie, the Spike movie or any other continuance they propose.

It's ALL about the characters we love. We need to keep alert to the efforts of other organazations for quality tv shows and support them. We have to keep our eye on the prize. We also have to be prepared to dig in for the long haul. So get comfortable, we are going to stick around.

News Of The Actors In Media

Seth Green Is Everywhere!

You can't take a step on the planet without tripping over one of his creations, works or collaborations. Greg the Bunny was released on dvd. (AND I FINALLY GOT TO SEE THE EPISODES THAT THEY NEVER BROADCAST IN MY AREA.) He appears in the Family Guy, voicing Chris Griffin. He has created Robot Chicken for Adult Swim, and with his friend Hugh Sterbakov, the comic book, The Freshmen. Originally envisioned as a movie script, this work will released in 6 issues. The Four Kings, a new show due out next year, will star Seth as one of four spoiled city boys who co-opt the rent- controlled apartment of a deceased relative.

Joss Whedon

After his compliments tickled the shows creator, e-mails flew and next thing I heard was that he had agreed to guest star! He will debut on episode six of Veronica Mars and will play a testy, rental car manager.

His latest quote on a Spike telepic records him saying "I can only teasingly hint, unfortunately, until its got backing and we've got a schedule and a contract."
The Moviehole interview also quotes him as "talking to some of the actors, writers, and some executives and trying to put something together......but it's not happening fast. [But no] I haven't left the Buffyverse behind."

The Actors in other roles

TvGuide.com asked Al Gough about Smallville and James Marsters in an interview. Some quotes follow below:

The new time slot for Smallville has some people worried. Originally broadcast on Tuesdays, then moved to Wednesdays and now shunted to Thursday night, The WB has hunted for the perfect spot for the show's fifth season (which begins September 29th 8:00 PM Eastern).

Hoping to establish a beachhead on Thursday night, Gough reports "Season Five is the season you have been waiting for. Things are really going to change. The Lex-Clark-Lana dynamic is going to be played. Clark and Lex are basically going to be enemies, which means it's only going to get uglier. This is the year where Clark is 'Superman in training'-you'll see the Fortress of Solitude, you'll meet Brainiac (James Marsters)......"

He also comments on James' portrayal of the villain: "He's basically in disguise as a college professor at Clark's University, with dark hair and no English accent. James is a very striking person, and the camera loves him."

Sarah Michelle Gellar will be in Southland Tales due out in 2006. One reviewer describes the book the movie is taken from as Pulp Fiction meets Strange Days.

Andy Hallett recieved a star for his birthday in August! That's right. Thoughtful fan Anne Adams of Mississippi registered a star in the actor's name. He thanked her and every other person who took time out of their day to make his birthday special.
He is a real sweet guy and we wish him many more.
