It should be noted that MaidenGreen, one of our very best writers, has come up with a delicious scheme to bombard producers with our urgent pleas for a big screen Angel picture. Remember as you read her guest editorial, that we need to WORK if we expect this to happen. The continuing saga of Angel will be seen when we convince the real POWERS THAT BE that we will not go quietly into the night unless there's a certain vampire waiting....Now, a word from MaidenGreen:
Well, Oh Intrepid Angel Campaigners...
Get a load of this!
(From the Comic Con's Serenity Pamphlet:)
Angel was a spin-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which debuted in 1999. With David Greenwalt, Whedon invented a deep world that captivated viewers by exploring alienation and the fight for redemption. The TV series ended in 2004, but its legion of fans continues to petition and campaign for a comeback.
SOOO ... It's time for more of the Angel Feature Film Campaign!
Yes! We're going to campaign the most prominent movie studios to get an Angel Feature Film.
Averaging the Nielsen ratings of BTVS and ATS over the seven and five seasons, respectively, we discovered that if only ONE person from every Nielsen household bought a ticket to see our desired Angel film, the studio would make over 50 million dollars! And that's NOT including moviegoers who go to see the film without knowing anything about BTVS or ATS.
Fifty million dollars is more monetary security than many of the film studios make and release every week. We're going to remind the studio executives of the force of our fan base, and persuade them with EXTREME persistence that we want an Angel film!
Our first studio contact is going to be 20th Century Fox Filmed Entertainment. 20th Century Fox produced X-Men, and its sister company owns the rights to Angel, so starting here seems appropriate!
We'll be sending the studio a Press Kit from saveangel.org, as well as one of the new Angel graphic comics and a couple of chocolate angels. Since turning comics and graphic novels into feature films is so huge now, sending the Angel comics would be a good move. Plus, we are planning to send them the second and third issues as well!
"Never Give Up, Never Fade Away..."
So PLEASE ... take a couple minutes this week and send a letter or postcard to:

Take A Letter, Cordelia:
Three cheers for the USA Network. In the past they have resisted the urge to brand themselves, (Insert clever slogan ie: TNT We Know Drama.) Now, they have and we can only say, "Go USA." They have chosen to style themselves "USA. Characters Welcome." This flexible appellation tells us that they will welcome good scripts that are character driven. Those of us who love a good story and a finely written character can have a home. This will start showing up in lower case letters, on the bottom of your screen, in July.
Firefly began it's run on Scifi at 7:00 PM on Friday 7/29. It will lead off SciFi Friday nights for the rest of the season. Tune in and see what else lurks in the fertile mind of Joss Whedon.

Media Reports In Print Or On The Internet:
According to Tim Minear, things don't look promising for his new show, "The Inside". He posted this on timminear.net:
"Okay, gang, here's what I do know...While the network hasn't said to me that they won't order more episodes, it sure does shake out that way. On Thursday they needed to extend their options on the cast and decided not to. Considering it would have been chump change for them, it basically means we're done."
The Inside also featured Firefly's Adam Baldwin as Danny.
Recently released were the numbers from the sales of the comic Angel The Curse #1. 15,400. It debuted in 152nd place, which isn't bad when you consider some of the luminaries that precede him. I guess Superman doesn't have to look behind himself yet, but it could happen!

Actor's In Other Roles:
According to a fan who attended the Quo'toth Convention, Amy Acker told those attending that her role in the CBS Drama The Unit has been recast. Source: livejournal.com.
Guess these folks at The Unit don't need the her fan base. Can YOU say short sighted?
James Marsters will be back on the WB.!!!! It seems he will be taking on the role of Brainiac on the hit show Smallville. His alter ego, Milton Fine, will be a mild-mannered scientist. He will arrive with a secret about about Clark's biological family and will stay to further erode Clark's and Lex's frail friendship.
Charisma Carpenter will be joining the cast of Veronica Mars. She'll be in six episodes. This is another reason to watch this fine show. Source: Slayerverse.net
Whedon Social Club:
The Whedon Social Club will meet on Sunday July 31 at 9:00 PM EST/6:00 PST to discuss our favorite bad girl, Faith. If you joined us for our chats on Angel and Spike, you know a good time will be had.
Come join us at www.saveangel.org/chat. Don't forget to register and obtain a password (the sooner the better). Please pm gman if you encounter difficulty.
