Joss Whedon is the single most harmful drug on this planet.
Millions of people have already fallen for his charismatic wit and pure power to entertain. But what happened to his millions of loyal devotees when the axe fell on their spiritual leader of all things Television? They joined together in their masses, that's what---determined to to crush those satanic blowhards* who canceled the single greatest show to have aired on our screens this decade---Angel.
* Editor's note: Chris actually used a different word here that I was too timid to print.
Efforts have been going well by the cult mass that we call the Save Angel campaign. Yet, I can not help but feel that one department has not really served it's purpose yet and it is about time that we put it into worthwhile action. That underachiever is campaign graphics and fan art.
A great deal of us have had plenty of fun coming up with crazy designs for postcards, desktop wallpaers, bookmarks and banners using our computers. But ask yourself, have these graphics really benefited the campaign in any form? I think you will find the answer is generally no, or very little at all.
So what can we do to burst these graphics out of their cocoons and become valuable members of our society? Well, I have compiled a list of ideas below which I hope you will find of use. Feel free to deploy any and best of luck.
Christopher J. Hall
(a.k.a. Chris Cuthbertson)
Idea One: Promotional Banners
This one is pretty straight forward. If every person from The Save Angel discussion board added one banner to their e-mail signature or placed one of these on their website, that would be over two thousand referrals to the website. And if each banner was viewed by two persons or more, that number would double and double and double.
The idea, of course, would require very little of your time but could sustantially benefit the campaign, and is therefore highly recomended. But please do not spam
( in other words, go over the top) with these banners.
Idea Two: Desktop Wallpapers
Another simple idea to deploy but difficult to put to use. Just save any one of the many desktop wallpapers you can find on the discussion forum and use it as wallpaper on your PC. But it is tricky getting people to recognise the wallpaper if it is on your own personal computer. Therefore I would recommend public PCs, but only when allowed.
Idea Three : Bookmarks
Yet again, another simple idea. Just print some of the bookmarks you can find on the discussion forum off your PC, cut them out and pass them around. Why not ask to leave them in a public place, like the library, so that people can help themselves?
You'd be suprised how co-operative some people can be.
Editorial aside: I have done this with bookmarks. I also printed off Slayer Husband's wonderful flyers to pass out with my Halloween candy. The Hair gel labels for re-labeling, for that campaign were great. Is anyone else out there using the graphics? Drop us a line.

Print Media or Internet
comingsoon.net By Scott Chitwood Jan.3, 2005
Mr. Chitwood mentions the release of Serenity as being something he is looking forward to. In this excerpt from his column, I quote the following:
" Being a scifi geek,I look forward to any upcoming space adventure. However, Serenity is unique because it comes from the canceled T.V. series, Firefly. The very fact that it could make the leap from canceled series to the big screen is enough to get me intrigued. But recently, I've been watching Firefly on DVD and I have to say I can't wait to see what Joss Whedon and his cast does with a bigger budget. Think of it being like the adventures of young Han Solo."
We're intrigued too, Mr. Chitwood and look forward to ANGEL making the same leap.
calgarysun.com By Kevin Williamson Jan.2, 2005
In his arcticle on the 10 best shows of 2004, he makes interesting comments about ANGEL, which I will quote. Here's the List
1. Arrested Development
2. The Lost ( We at saveangel thought this was a winner too.)
3. The Daily Show With John Stewart
4. Rescue Me
5. 24
6. Curb Your Enthusiasm
7. Deadwood
8. Scrubs
9. ANGEL "The final season of this Buffy, The Vampire Slayer spin-off saw reformed vampire (David Boreanaz) and his band of merry men and monsters- occult nerd Wesley, green-skinned Lorne, streetwise Gunn and Britpunk Spike assume control of the demonic law firm Wolfram and Hart and in the end, choose to be destroyed rather than corrupted. The same could be said of for executive producer Joss Whedon and the W.B. which inexplicably axed the show."
10. Malcolm In The Middle/ The Simpsons
Did anyone besides me notice that ALL of these shows are cleverly written and NOT reality shows?
A few issues ago we mentioned that the license for Angel Comics was moving from Dark Horse Comics to IDW. That has been confirmed. The summer of 2005 will debut a mini-series in comic format. Joss Whedon will consult but the bulk of his time is really committed to Astonishing X-men and Serenity.
