i was just exploring my directv to see what will start airing on sat/sun @ 11pm
a/f "bulmyeolui yi soon-shin"(the immortal yi soon-shin) is finished. i was
hoping for a double dose of "taejo wang geon" but no luck. confirmed w/mindtv,
"seoul 1945" will air sat/sun nites11p-12a starting sun 11/11/20.

of the way in.
at current schedule, it shouldn't end until at least apr or may of 2013.

HI, everyone - for awhile now I've been a happy subscriber to MVIBO...recently
I've been absorbed by a recent histoircal drama "The Tree with Deep Roots" which
takes place in the time of King Sejong, and his development of the Korean
phonetic alphabet is part of the plot, which is a mystery/thriller type. But -
MVIBO is only offering 12 eps so far, and I know there is more ( just finished
#12) Anyone got any information about a site where I can get the rest of it?

Now that Dear Leader has passed on, I was looking at some pix of Kim Jong-Un,
his son and successor. He looks amazingly like the character Park Chang-Ju, the
young policeman in "Seoul 1945" who's so willing to backstab his old comrades (
the one who worships the Baron 's snobby pianist daughter, Sukkyong ).

Hello, All! Happy Lunar New Year...
I posted a little while ago because I was having trouble accessing " The Tree
with Deep Roots", a short historical drama that I began watching on MVIBO (
which is a pay site), and some of you kindly replied. MVIBO apparently lost the
right to stream "Roots" because of some copyright dispute. ( they said later on)
I have been able to pick it up now, though, on Hulu, which is free - it just has
a few commercials, which aren't too obnoxious.
I really want to recommend this series to anyone who is deeply interested in the
history of Korea, because it tells a story - with some latitude, I'm sure ; ) -
about one of the most important occurrences in Korean history - the creation of
the phonetic Hangul (?) alphabet ( replacing Chinese characters), which is what
is used today, by King Sejong, and the political and social turmoil that it
caused.( giving peasants and lowborns the ability to read and write was the
beginning of the end for the repressive Confucianism of Joseon, and the Korean
bureuacrats - those who could take the civil service examination to be in the
ruling class - were very aware of this.) The bare bones of the story are woven
into a great tale of historic fictional characters, and the acting is second to
none, especially the characters of 1) Sejong, 2) Mu Hyul, his right-hand
military man, and 3) Kang Chae-Yun, a slave who becomes a palace guard and is
pivotal to the
story. I can't recommend it enough... DO watch it! If there are "oscars" for
Korean drama, this has to win a lot - Best - Donna Thomas

I watched the series on Hulu too Donna and can't say enough. The writing
and acting were excellent and the story compelling. Highly recommended.

No dice Bryan/ Mindtv stopped airing new Korean Dramas over a year ago. They are
only airing older dramas they have on hand.Â ê´‘ê°œí† íƒœì™• just finished in
Korea in April so Mindtv will not purchase the rights as it is a new saguek.

I'm afraid I a have only seen first 3 episodes; my schedule to jammed to watch
at this time. My Eemo gave me the DVD set as a b-day gift. She loved it and the
ratings were very good despite should not being very accurate. Don't worry about
the authenticity; just enjoy it for entertainment purposes.

Subject: Queen Seondeok
I just signed on to Netflix. Although they didn't have the one I want to
re-view, King Sejong, they do have a 2009 historical, Queen Seondeok. I just
watched Episode 1. The acting, dancing and production values are just fine. I
wish it were a bit more historical, but from all reports it isn't. However, I
do hope they credit Seondeok with her many fine accomplishments, including the
first star observatory in East Asia.
Has anyone seen this?
