If you ever go to Scottsdale, it is a very, very shallow place. Lotsa of
plastic. You'll see kids driving around in BMWs that they rent, so that they
can get dates with more phony women. People there value money over character.

There are exceptions, but if you travel there, you'll see what I mean.

The show was bad for them because it showed the rest of the country how screwed
up thy really are.

OMG, I felt the same way, why are they so embarassed? Big deal, women are
like that everywhere. Get over it. I sure wish they'd continue the show
too, but I seriously doubt it. Sucks to not know what happens with the
newlywed couple or the girl getting a divorce and moving on, etc.

I really woudn't even care if it was a tiny bit scripted, it's all just
entertainment for me. It's like when I was reading the Million Little
Pieces book by James Frey. I was halfway into the book when it came out he
did more than 'strech the truth' and so many people were angry over it
(Oprah included). I didn't give a rip! It was a great read, who cares.

I'm in a rambling mood tonight...

The idea that this is reality- but PRETTY reality- appeals to me.
This will make other reality shows- all reality shows aren't
100% "reality" (like Paris and Nicole aren't "coached" as to what to
do??) look better. The women in Tuesday Night Book Club have issues
most women can relate to (at least those of us who are at a certain
point in our lives).

Sure do hope it comes back. That music sure is cheezy though. Glad
to know I am not the only one who has problems- major and minor. So
what, they look better than most of us? That is what makes it even
more entertaining to watch! Attractive, successful (marketing
business, speech coach, salon owner, etc.) women who admit to having
problems too? About time!

Read the article link. Honestly, their town being upset about it?
Why?? Is it such a shallow place that the people there can
only "judge a book by it's cover" (sorry, couldn't resist) and not
see what lies in the heart of these women?? Shallow place if they
are judging them only on appearances. How immature.

When will we find out if it comes back on?

I agree.

Windfall is the show about the group of friends that win the lottery and how
it affects their lives. I think it's on NBC.

Well anyone that watched it and would be stupid enough to think it was *real*
has their own issues LOL! Any reality show on TV is not completely *real*, but
it's still fun to watch. I'm bummed they took it off the air, that was the only
good thing on TV this summer.

One of the reasons the show failed is that it was not believable. The
producers have no reality credentials with mentioning (they did one
show for OLN that was gastly).

It was obvious to all in the business that the individual scenes were
staged and rehearsed. The camera and lighting placement gave it
away... as did the ovbiously scripted/coached dialogue.

I wonder just what process CBS went through in deciding on this show
and this format. Whatever the process, it looks like they could use
some advice from other segments of Viacom where they understand
reality programming.

Well, first, hello to everyone here. I figured I'd join this group to
see what is happening since I am from Phoenix.

I am still learning all the "characters" names, so bare with me.

So far the most normal person on the show is the fireman. He's the
most down to earth guy, but he needs to hit the gym. His wife is the
one in the best shape even though she snarls, which isn't attractive.

The wife that took her AA husband to that party made a mistake. Why
would you even ask your husband to go to a party that would make him
feel uncomfortable? There's nothing fun about it.

The unmarried girl is just a lush -- nothing attractive about her.

The girl married to the doctor is just not exciting. I can see why he
needs distractions. I love rock climbing, hiking, working out, etc.
I hate dinner parties. I am sure he probably feels the same way. He
just married the boring, pretty girl.

The divorced woman needs a serious reduction. And it looks like we
are seeing the effects of her tanning too much.

The trophy wife has an open relationship for all the right reasons.
She gets to play and kick back and chill all day long. I wonder if he
has a pre-nup.

The girl looking at renting a place because her relationship seems to
based on overworking and collecting status items needs to re-evaluate
her priorities. Does she really need to drive a POS Mercedes? It's
not like those vehicles are even quality. Maybe they can spend less,
so they can spend more time together.

Anyway, it's off to the gym for me. I'll try to catch tonight's ep.

Wow. My family is also LDS and I was the rebel in my teenage years. I settled
down when I met my husband, shortly after he returned from his mission :).

Hopefully she won't do anything to embarass you guys, I can only imagine how
you must be feeling watching her on this show!

As for her origins, yes, our family is devoutly LDS and she was raised as such.
Her dad was bishop for a few years, older brothers went on missions, etc. She
was a very hyperactive kid growing up and gave her parents a lot of grief. They
lived in a small, southeastern town in Utah (Monticello), and so her shenanigans
as a kid were well-known. When she was a teen, they moved to Provo, so her
increasingly rebellious attitude was even more at odds with the surrounding
culture. Provo is an extremely conservative and "Molly Mormons" are in
abundance. She struggled academically and socially in high school and so I think
she married young just to "get the heck outta Dodge." My wife and I were talking
about the show tonight with our dad and some other family members, and we
reminisced about what a little rebel she was. We laughed about how, when we were
kids staying at Grandma and Grandpa's house, her older brother and I used to
grab her and put her in front of our uncle who has D
own's Syndrome and autism. Being autistic, he didn't like the little kids
standing in front of him, so he'd launch her into the air with a swift shove of
his feet. She'd go flying and we'd run off laughing our snotty, teenage heads
off.
Anyway, hope this has been interesting to you. I actually am a little leery of
watching any more episodes of the show, 'cuz I'm afraid of what she might do to
embarrass the family, but my wife has it set up on the ol' TIVO.

was a very hyperactive kid growing up and gave her parents a lot of grief. They
lived in a small, southeastern town in Utah (Monticello), and so her shenanigans
as a kid were well-known. When she was a teen, they moved to Provo, so her
increasingly rebellious attitude was even more at odds with the surrounding
culture. Provo is an extremely conservative and "Molly Mormons" are in
abundance. She struggled academically and socially in high school and so I
think she married young just to "get the heck outta Dodge." My wife and I were
talking about the show tonight with our dad and some other family members, and
we reminisced about what a little rebel she was. We laughed about how, when we
were kids staying at Grandma and Grandpa's house, her older brother and I used
to grab her and put her in front of our uncle who has D
own's Syndrome and autism.

Really?! That's funny!!! How has she changed since the wedding? I saw on one of
the sites about the show that she is originally from Utah, is she mormon? I am,
and I know that getting married young (like she did at 19) is pretty much the
standard out there.

Hi,

I watched the Tuesday Night Book club last night and loved it. I also
loved a song that was played during the last half of the show and have
been trying to find the song name, however, to no avail. It went
something like..."it's my heart your breaking.....it's my heart your
taking." Something like that. Does anyone know the song name and
artist? I would really appreciate it! Thank you
