I think I can safely say, with little fear of being contradicted, that this
is by far the strongest group of 4 finalists in the (admittedly brief)
history of Top Chef.

Not only that, but I think it's the first time you could have predicted
early on who would make it to the final - and not have any surprises or
upsets. And, even with that predictability, it was not by any means a boring
or routine season. The high quality of the top 4 was SO high that it was
fascinating to watch them demonstrate just how far and above all the others
they truly were.

Should be a great final 2 episodes.

i was very impressed this season. for the first time we've seen the most
talented group of chefs (that includes all of them) all season the food has been
very creative, innovative and of course delicious. i applaud TC/Bravo for
putting together a great group of chefs. all of the final 4 deserve to win. my
pick is for Bryan- just to see the look on his brother's face. but it looks like
Kevin may take this, endless he screws up.

Kevin has clinched Best Cheftestant Ever.  Even if he blows the quickfire and
then gets eliminated before the final, he'll finish with at least 29.25
points--higher than Richard and Stephanie's total of 28 each.

This is the first time that each of the four finalists (or three, in the case of

This is also the first time only one person got positive points for the
elimination and the rest of the field received negative points.

then gets eliminated before the final, he'll finish with at least 29.25
points--higher than Richard and Stephanie's total of 28 each.

This is the first time that each of the four finalists (or three, in the case of
Season 1) has had a higher point total than all of their eliminated brethren.

This is also the first time only one person got positive points for the
elimination and the rest of the field received negative points.

Someone needs to tell Bryan they upped the prize money this year--he keeps
saying it's $100K.

Eli, please don't flatter yourself into thinking you're one of the five
strongest. Much as I like to disparage him, the one time you cooked head-to-head
(-to-head-to-head) against Mike Isabella, he kicked your ass.

And here's how you stand against your mentor Blais: He's Batman. You ain't even
Batmite, much less Robin.

"My name is INDIGO Montoya????????"

Jennifer, stating the obvious, says that "some kind of crazy Quickfire" is
coming their way.

There's another kind?

But Jennifer definitely gets props for deciding to do a turducken.

Too bad John Madden isn't the guest judge.

(we'll pause for a moment while I let you contemplate THAT image for a
while.....)

Kevin, believe me, you're worth 200 of Eli. Maybe even 300.

Jennifer, I thought you were doing a turducken???? Where's the seafood coming
in??????

Jennifer presents her dish--and Padma's feedback is, "Welcome back."

Maybe we'll call this episode, "How Jennifer Got Her Groove Back."

The guest judge gives the individual feedback, and then names the winner....

JENNIFER!!!!!!

Welcome back, indeed.

Michael, for all that you say you like Jennifer, if you genuinely liked her,
you'd be happy for her success, regardless of whether or not it was a
competition.

Eli, if you shut up and listen, Padma will tell you what she's talking about.

Watching just snippets of the DVD, I think cooking fans are almost as crazy as
soccer fans.

Note to Hung--see how Bryan is helping Kevin with technique?

This is why most of your competitors in Season Three thought you were an ass.

Michael, you made the "day off" crack before. Hopefully, your food won't be as
repetitive as your wit.

Tom drops the twist--you know, if you won enough high-stakes challenges, you
wouldn't even need to win the friggin' competition.

As soon as Kevin says that he's going to ignore part of the challenge, I'm
thinking he's done.

YAY!!!!!!! We have Gail instead of Toby!!!!!!! (looking more elegant than I've
ever seen her--and for Gail, that's a high bar to begin with)

I guess they use Toby for the more pedestrian challenges, and save Gail for the
challenges where sound bites aren't going to cut it as criticism.

The judges are, for the most part, pleased with Kevin's work--but Thomas Keller
points out how minimal his presentation is, in a challenge where presentation is
expected to be over the top.

On the other hand, they totally rip apart Michael's dish--surprisingly so, given
that he's the only one who's done anything like this before.

What's surprising is that this is the first time he's ever misjudged flavors so
badly--when he's been on the bottom before, it was more a technical or a team
issue than anything else.

Bryan's lamb is undercooked--at this point, I'm less thinking Kevin is gone and
one of the Brothers Voltaggio is gone.

But then again, Eli's lamb is even more undercooked--and badly cut as well. So
maybe we're going to be rid of him, too.

Jennifer is a very generous woman--helping Bryan, helping Kevin, calling Eli a
great chef....

Jennifer gets a couple of hits from the judges, but she might slide by given how
badly the Voltaggios and Eli faltered, and the strength of her presentation.

How many friggin' extras are they going to give the winner of this one? It's
starting to make the final look like an anticlimax.

This is a difficult Judges' Table to score--none of the chefs seem to be
favorites.

Eli's definitely in the bottom if he's the worst lamb of the three. Kevin's
probably in the top.

Bryan's on the bottom, too, despite being the most technically proficient. Hard
to tell with Jennifer and Michael.

We're back at Judges' Table.......they bring the chefs back in......

AND KEVIN WINS!!!!!!!

This is a first.....four out of five on the chopping block. All four lost
points; Kevin was the only one who gained points for the elimination.

AND ELI IS GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought when Brian had to do MASH, they had to make tv dinners, so he made
mashed potatoes, meatloaf, etc to pay homage to that era in American history
- that's what's usually associated w/ the 1st tv dinners.

technically, Circus-Circus was influenced into Eli's dish. that was probably
the only good thing about it. the chefs aren't really good at letting
something influence their food. a few weeks back Bryan had to make a dish
inspired by the TV show M*A*S*H, and made 'mash' potatoes rather then
something Korean.

Robin you can only fault yourself for being eliminated.  You try to cook

What surprises me about Robin is not how she stuck around so long but how she
got on the show in the first place. Given her obvious limitations as the season

I agree with you - I was hoping Eli would get the chop before her (just to

Spoiler space.

Full disclosure:  I read a rumor a couple of days ago that tonight's PYKAG'd
chef would be one of the Fantastic Four.  My first guess was Kevin, and I
wasn't liking the idea.

Thousand Island hollandaise sounds like the most disgusting thing I've ever
heard of, Eli.  More disgusting than the thought of you and Robin having sex.

Robin showed her limitations in the quickfire.  She's just not versatile or
particularly good at improvising.

She's also not really good at figuring out when she's in the wrong.  Michael's
finishing his damn dish and she's plodding along trying to get her knives?  And
then she's pissed off because he snaps at her?

Maybe Padma's developing more of a taste for steak & eggs.  You can thank Hung
for blazing that particular trail, Kevin.

Jen gets points for the most ballsy breakfast.  Chipped beef?  Seriously?

Bryan and Robin are on the bottom, Eli and Kevin are on the top.  I'm pulling
for Kevin…..

And of course, Eli wins.  I'm throwing up in my mouth a little.

I'm not even remotely impressed by the Elimination Challenge.  It's a
celebration of tackiness.

Bryan keeps talking about his family.  I'm starting to think Thatcher is going
to get his shark earlier than planned.

Eli, trust me, you don't need more sweets.

You don't even remotely need more sweets.

The chefs go through their prep, Eli gets more crap from the cool kids, Robin
keeps talking and talking and talking and talking….

And service begins-and the first thing I know is that Kevin is safe, which was
worrying me.

And the second thing I know is that Jennifer is dead meat.  Even more so than
her dish.

Michael's got a very pedestrian dish, the hot sauce not withstanding, but the
judges rave over it.

Robin, if you're not going to put something on the plate, why in the name of Sam
Nunn are you talking about it????

Bryan's going to be in the top group, because he took the judges by surprise,
which they always like.

Eli's dish sounds even more disgusting than it looks.

Dude, you're serving Pepto Bismol in a cup.

Tom:  "Eli's dish could have used some of Robin's gelatin."

When Eli watches that, he's going to sh!t.  Right there, right then.

Toby:  "Like most who come to Vegas, he has gambled and lost."

The little twerp must have been up all night thinking up that line.

Kevin, Michael, and Bryan are the top three-so if any of the Fantastic Four goes
down, it's going to be Jennifer.

I really hope it's not Jennifer.

The judges announce the winner-and of course, the losing Voltaggio brother can't
bring himself to crack a smile.

That's just wrong, guys.  It just is.

And the other cheftestants head to the firing line.

And speaking of lines, "It was more Spamalot than Camelot."

That means absolutely nothing, Toby.  Nothing at all.

I can't really tell who's going home this time.  Eli's defense was terrible,
but Robin's was worse.

Looking at Jennifer just before the end of Judges' Table, she looks like she
aged about 10 years over the course of the show.

And in the end, we're done with Robin.  Can't really say I'll miss her, but I
wish Eli had gone down before she did.
