It's true, stage names aren't as common today. However, it seems that the more "popular" an actor or actress may be, the more likely they are to choose a stage name.
Jodie Foster, Will Smith, Kirstie Alley, Jamie Foxx, Toby McGuire, Geena Davis, Taye Diggs, Vin Diesel, Jennifer Anniston, Alan Alda, Morgan Fairchild, Tony Danzaa, Nicholas Cage, and Alec Baldwin are just a few that come to mind who have changed their names.
Not necessarily:
Cameron Diaz, Julia Roberts (real name is Julie--which doesn't count as staged since there was a Julie already registered with SAG and otther unions before she came on the scene)), Hugh Grant, Judi Dench, Nia long, Lindsay Lohan, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Madonna, Nicole Kidman, Colin Farrell, Glenn Close, George Clooney, Michael Douglas, Katherine Hepburn, Tom Cruise, Salma Hayek, Raven Simone, and Jude Law to name just a few who have NOT changed their names:)
