It will take me a little bit to gather all of my thoughts.
Vic got away with it all. All the Vic fans should be happy.
He lost all his friends.
He lost all his respect.
He lost his kids.
He lost the action of his job.
He got off paying for his sins working a 9-5 job, for three years. He
will not get an extension.
But enough of Vic. As a character ending, I was a little upset. But
Michael Chiklas did not disappoint. I believed every moment. He is an
awesome actor, and no one could have matched his intensity. I look
forward to watching him with other endevors.
The scenes with Shane were the episode for me. And although Mara &
Shane annoyed me 1000%, I actually cried. The roles were acted so
well. The filming, and the photography should win an emmy.
I was disappointed a little about Dutch, and the kid. I wanted
closure, or something on the edge of my seat.
Ronnie, Corrine, the kids, Aceveda.. seemed a little short sided.
And why bring in the guy from OutKast?
As a series finale, I might appreciate this later.
About a month ago, my brother and I were discussing the possible endings for this show. We felt the worst thing that could happen to Vic would not be prison, but something happening to keep him from his family. We didn't foresee losing everything (family, Strike Team and job.) Vic with no family and the shame of what he has done, chained to a desk? This ending seems a lot worse.
The guy from OutKast is a reoccurring character from (I think) the 04 season.
It was nice to see Clark "Meldrick Lewis" Johnson finally step out from behind the camera for his cameo as the Relocation Po-lice.
All in all, a great finale for a great show.

The last episode was okay except for a couple things:
1)Why didn't ICE take the opportunity to revoke Vic's immunity when
Beltran didn't show up? I know it wasn't Vic's fault that he didn't.
But I would've thought ICE would have jumped on the first half way
decent excuse to revoke the immunity since Vic deceived them about
how many bad things he had done.
2)It was all wrapping up nicely until the very end when Vic put his
gun in his waistband & left his office. Was he going after Beltran?,
Claudette?, Dutch?, Olivia?, Dani so he could get Lee since he lost
Corinne & his other children? or was he going to take the same way
out that Shane did? Open endings really bother me
Ok guy, I believe we are left to believe that there is NO way Vic is chained to a desk. Challenge his superiros over and over is all he knows. He is goin back to work on the STREETS.

That's the way that I interpreted that last scene, when Vic got strapped and
headed out of the office. In my opinion, the streets are like the "call of the
wild" for him.
Although I'm going to watch the finale again, I thought that, overall, it was
excellent. There WAS blood, but I think that the whole episode carried a
deceptively quiet, yet intense tone. MUCH was conveyed by facial
expressions/body language/"pregnant pauses", and not necessarily the dialogue.
C.C.H. Pounder, Michael Chiklis, Walt Goggins, and (even) the dude that
portrayed Ronnie all should be shoo-ins for Emmy Awards. And, yeah, I came
close to crying about what happened with Shane and his family (even though I
couldn't stand him and his wife) and especially about Claudette and her health.
And, Vic...Well, OMG, his hurt, regret and other emotions just radiated in his
face and actions through the TV screen. Yes, he got away, but what a hell of a
price he had to pay, as others here stated. That's it - a price had to be
paid... That part of the ending made sense to me, as well as most of the rest.
I had a feeling that Shane and Mara would end up killing themselves, but I
really hated to see it happen, no matter how inevitable. It was good to see
Andre Benjamin's character back again, and I liked seeing Clark Johnson back
again in front of the camera. He was also in the last season of "The Wire."
And, let me not forget Dutch who, in the end, was vindicated, once they nailed
that boy for killing his mom. Yay! I had to chuckle, too, as Billings' lawyer
was making a play for Dutch and it went over his head...Danni tried to pull his
coat...LOL! Glad to see that Corinne and the kids were relocated, although they
weren't thrilled.
Otherwise, life was seemingly going to go on at the Barn, with Aceveda, the
streets, etc. Perhaps, everything was not meant to be wrapped up neatly at the
end of the show. And, who knows? The last few minutes or so did possibly leave
room for a follow-up movie about Vic and his further pursuits. Maybe, Shawn
Ryan will let us know in future interviews. Until then, it was a GREAT ride,
and I will terribly miss this show.

this show is and was every bit what i love about this show! I will
miss this series more than any one series I have ever watched. I have
been watching this series from day one and always watched it
faithfully even if my life wasn't going great at the time. Man I am
going to miss this show so much. Hopefully there will be a movie for
all of The Shield fans.

I don't really see how he can go back to the streets. At least
not in Farmington because if he walks away from his job with ICE, his
immunity deal is gone. Plus Claudette is still extremely pissed that
he got the immunity deal & if, as someone pointed out, there is no
real evidence against Ronnie, he will be acquitted & I'm sure he will
have revenge on his mind
These are the things we will truly have to ponder. I think Vic will stay on streets and not "jeopardize" his deal. By the way, I am surprised he did not bang Olivia!! Anyway, it is so neat to ponder these things.
I will miss chatting about show with you guys. What an incredible run. One of the elite cop shows of all time!!

I am one of those who is happy Vic was able to walk free. But man what a hell he will be in. Ronnie, well I am disappointed that he was busted. I think Vic should have given him a better warning that the shoe was gonna drop then to yell at him while they were already in the Barn. Shane's exit was a surprise. Very shocking to me. But he was at the end of his rope. Vic teasing him aabout visiting his kids probably pushed that last button.
Kimmy, I agree, Vic lost everything. What about that warm reception he got at the barn? Oh well, Vic will walk free. Continue to bend (break) the rules. Challenge his superiors. He is truly the anti-hero. Notice at the end of show, he is NOT gonna sit at a desk the next 3 yrs. I also think that it sets up a possible future 2 hr movie on FX for The Shield. Or perhaps a big screen movie like "Sex and the City". It was a bittersweet ending that is for sure.

There is no physical proof that Ronnie did anything though, just Vic's
word for all of it, and there will be a trial, and vic would have to
testify to all of it. Ronnie is done as a cop for sure, but really still
no guarantee he ends up in jail, am i the only person to see this?

If Shane's book was enough to scare Vic, I'd say it had very detailed
info on everything Vic & the strike team did. Including details of
certain crimes that only the person responsible would know. And the
cops would probably find it at Shane & Maura's house
No I was thinking that over. Of all the strike team, I feel bad for Ronnie. Kinda clueless on most things. Hestitant to kill Shane and Mara. Face held to a burner after Vic did it to that punk. Ronnie's situation had me thinking almost all night. I guess it is one of those things were we will have to assume. Oh by the way, read an interview iwth Shawn Ryan were he left it out there that "you never know about a future movie". Nice, I will not hold my breath like I did for Guns n Roses Chinese Democracy (oh, yeah finally- after 13 yrs I have it), but maybe, just maybe one day there will big a big screen flick to answer burning questions. Oh one last thing, right before the show started last nite the previews, does anyone know the song that was playing?

I have a feeling the problem with the new G&R album was probably
something like this. While in some drug induced state, the
phrase "Chinese Democracy" probably popped into Axl's head & he
thought it would be a great album title. Then he started writing &
probably realized the longer it took, the better it would have to be
when finished & probably wrote a ton of songs for it & edited a bunch
out. Plus he had to put the band back together since Slash & Matt are
in Velvet Revolver now
I agree with you that it set up for something A movie possibly, but I would like to see a spin off where you actually get to see what Vic is doing with ICE.
I thought it was a really good ending as well, but I saw that comming that Vic would be alone. Cause last season when they said it would be the last they kept playing the song hurt, and if you listen to it it says "what have I become..", " I will make you hurt.." and then something about you are all gone, but I am still here. So, as always I think the songs they pick are for a reason and really coralate to the program. I would also have to say that whoever it is that picks the songs for this show does an awsome job, because they are always the best.
I also had a feeling that Shane would commit suicide however I was somewhat surprised that he took Jackson with him.
I will definately miss the show, but it had a hell of a run and I would rather see it go out with a bang rather than fade away because people lost interest, and they did just that, so I think we can all be happy for that.

You know Cole, I am glad you posted again. I have been thinking alot about Ronnie. I still feel that his storyline has to have some continuation. It is killin me to have to awesome or guess what becomes of him. Vic, well there is one man that no one should ever trust or follow into a "situation". That is what is so surprising for Ronnie to hang out and trust Vic. It was pretty clear that Vic was out for Vic alone. Maybe Ronnie should have played same cards as Corrine,
Anyway I agree with you on how the show ended. It was an awesome part of TV history. It rewrote all cop show formulas. NYPD Blue was amazing in its heyday, but The Shield just tore down all the good guys in blue mentality. What a ride!!

It will take me a little bit to gather all of my thoughts.
Vic got away with it all. All the Vic fans should be happy.
He lost all his friends. He lost all his respect. He lost his kids. He lost the action of his job.
He got off paying for his sins working a 9-5 job, for three years. He will not get an extension.
But enough of Vic. As a character ending, I was a little upset. But Michael Chiklas did not disappoint. I believed every moment. He is an awesome actor, and no one could have matched his intensity. I look forward to watching him with other endevors.
The scenes with Shane were the episode for me. And although Mara & Shane annoyed me 1000%, I actually cried. The roles were acted so well. The filming, and the photography should win an emmy.
I was disappointed a little about Dutch, and the kid. I wanted closure, or something on the edge of my seat.
Ronnie,
Corrine, the kids, Aceveda.. seemed a little short sided.
And why bring in the guy from OutKast?
As a series finale, I might appreciate this later.
it really comes down to corrine screwing up with the cops... had vic not thought his ex-wife, mother of his kids was in a horrible situation about to face jail... he would have never sold out ronnie. as messed up as selling him out was, vic still did the right thing in his mind at the time, family above all else.
if corrine had known that action would have caused ronnie to be the one to suffer instead of vic, i'm sure she never would have entertained the idea of narcing out vic.

I kinda saw a murder/suicide thing happening with Shane's family. But
I thought Maura would do it because she started talking about not
wanting Jackson to wind up in foster care or have her baby girl in
prison if she & Shane got caught

At least not in Farmington because if he walks away from his job with ICE, his immunity deal is gone. Plus Claudette is still extremely pissed that he got the immunity deal & if, as someone pointed out, there is no real evidence against Ronnie, he will be acquitted & I'm sure he will have revenge on his mind
Vic will push the limits and see what he can get away with, like he always does. He will take this reprieve, and instead of being that "different man", he will regress to a higher @zz, because he will feel that everyone wronged him. I love the shark analogy. He can't just be average.
