Michelle to play "Debbie" in "Vinyl"
[ Nothing about this from Michelle's camp yet, however since Thora
Birch is the Executive Producer, Michelle fans have labelled this a
reliable rumour... ]

Vinyl tells the story of the women behind a rock band on the verge
of fame and success.
- Thora plays Julie, the wife of Matt, the lead member of the band.
- Rosario Dawson is cast as Sarah. After five years of standing by
the band and her fiancé (bass player, David), Sarah ultimately faces
a major decision in her life.
- Shane West will play Jimmy, one of the members of the band. This
will not be a huge stretch for West, who fronts the band Jonny Was
in real life.
- *Michelle Trachtenberg plays Debbie, the girlfriend of another
band member, who starts out as a naïve good-girl type from the right
side of the tracks who in the end gains a lot of rock 'n' roll
spirit.
- Lukas Haas plays Charlie, the band's sensitive drummer who
unwittingly falls in love with pregnant girlfriend (Faris) of West's
character.
- Anna Faris plays the pregnant girlfriend of yet another band
member.
- Marla Sokoloff plays a bartender who comes between one of the
couples.
- Dominique Swain plays a groupie who is hot after the band's lead
singer.
- Jonathan Rhys-Meyers will be playing Matt opposite Thora. He will
be playing Thora's husband and lead singer.
- Henry Thomas will be playing David, the bass player, opposite
Rosario Dawson.
*Michelle Trachtenberg has replaced Jena Malone in the role of
Debbie. Due to filming conflicts, Jena had to bow out.
Despite the title of the film, which suggests that the movie is set
in the past, it's actually set in modern-day L.A. According to
FilmStew.com, writer and director Richard Zelniker believes
that "the title is a reference to the glory days of rock n' roll,
when the leading voices of the art form were self-evident and the
securing of an all-important recording contract, or "vinyl," was a
true source of pride. Today, Zelniker suggests, with rap and hip-hop
dominating the charts and airwaves, many are wondering where the
next real emblems of rock n' roll will come from."
It is also interesting to note that this script has been re-written
several times over the past decade or so, and has almost been
produced with different actors at different times as well.
Production is scheduled to begin filming in Los Angeles on July 6,
2004.
