I was actually going to send an email around before the episode asking who you guys thought would be fired.. but then I figured that maybe it wouldn't actually happen.  And while I don't know who.. from the ACTUAL cast.. I would "choose" to fire, it did seem like a cop out to fire some extra.  It kind of made the whole downsizing problem, that's been there since episode one(!), pretty trivial.  They should have atleast had the guy in a few epidsodes first.. even if it was just so that we could establish that he worked there. Put him in the background.. give him a line or two.  And maybe I don't have the right train of thought, but if they were downsizing wouldn't they get rid of the temp first?  I suppose temps are cheaper cause they get their insurance through the temp agency.  Would that be why?

Gina... you are SO right.  I didn't think about that.  They should have fired Pam's fiance! They could have used that with the Pam/Jim relationship. I actually had a senerio like that in mind before, but I don't remember the details.  But to have Pam's fiance get transfered.. or something.. and have Pam choose to move with him or not.  There's not many episodes left this season.. we need to get things moving along with Pam and Jim! ha.  But as much as I WANT them to get together (like I said in an email awhile ago.. I'm very invested in their relationship) once they get together maybe it wouldn't be as fun?  But they could always have the episode where they get together and the next episode where things are really uncomfortable between them because they got together and they don't really know how to act anymore.  hmmm.

I was a little disappointed in the halloween costumes themselves.  Three women were cats?? And while I can see why they gave Jim the simple yet... what's the word I'm looking for.. non-traditional (??) costume.. because he has taken such a leadership role the last few episodes, I'm surprised that they didn't have him go all out... or atleast dress in something that would irriate Dwight a little more. Although I guess it did irriate Dwight that the costume was so simple.

I agree.. Dwight agruing w/ the second head was definetly one of the best scenes.

Don.. you're exactly right with your pizza analogy. I can't believe most of the other shows on tv right now!! ugh. The biggest let down for me on the Halloween episode was firing a no-name.  Besides that I thought that it was pretty good.  I really liked the last scene with him handing out candy.  That's one of the things that makes this show so great.. it's so fresh and different.. they're not afraid to show the character's being "real".  I also think of the dundees when pam gets in a fight with her fiance and they fight in the parking lot.  I felt the same type of "realness."

On the first season DVD's.. are there a lot of "deleted scenes" and I heard there's commentary...who does the commentary and do they do it through the entire episode for all of the episodes?

Well I could go on and on about this show.  I am due to have a baby next thursday and I confess.. I have.. on occasion.. hoped that he doesn't decide to come tuesday night...before or after would be just great. <hangs head in shame>. :)

Wouldn't it have been perfect if he fired Pams

I LOVED when Dwight was arguing w/the second head!
The PJ dynamic...I don't think she realizes how much

Unfortunatley, not a lot of quotable lines in this ep.

OK, guys, this is one of the best shows on TV, let's use this group
to celebrate it!
Regarding last night's episode, "Halloween":

A bad episode of the office is, to use the cliche, like bad pizza:
It may be not as good as other pizza you've had, but it's still
better than almost anything else. That's kind of how I feel about
last night's "Office". I just bought Season 1 on DVD, and had
watched those six episodes over the weekend. So I was stoked for a
new installment this week. While I thought "Halloween" was funny, it
wasn't as good as any of the previous episodes in my opinion. The
best parts in my opinion surrounded Dwight as the "Emperor" (or
Monk, depending on who you ask), especially when he was in Micheal's
office attempting to sway his opinion and arguing with
Micheal's "second head". The Jim - Pam dynamic is very close to my
heart (been in Jim's shoes...that's a tough emotional ride), and
thier "more than friends" interaction this week felt wrong somehow,
like it was too obvious to her that he was romantically interested
and so would be hurt by her suggestion he take a job out of state. I
personally would like to see that romance simmer a while more. This
episode also gave us probably the most glowing and favorable look at
Micheal Scott to date, as between his grief at firing someone and
his gushing over the trick-or-treaters at his house, his "good-
heartedness" showed through.
Overall, compared to most everything else on TV I'd give "Halloween"
an A-. Compared to the other episodes this and last season, I'd go
more like a solid C.
What did everyone else think? Please write, and let's get this group
rolling again. Thanks!

At first I thought he definitely heard it, but the second time I
watched wasn't so sure... But I think he did and was trying to play
it cool... Interesting how Pam is talking to her mom about him. At
the basketball game she kept smiling at Jim, not Roy.

Rented it this weekend and it's great! Deleted scenes that are as
good as the scenes in the show. And the commentaries are funny and
interesting. (If Rainn had mentioned they were doing them naked, I
wouldn't have known. Couldn't tell from the sound of their voices.)

Steve Carell is a freak! (In the best sense of the word.)

Rachael,
Tonight's episode is the sixth one. The other five are:
1st- the characters were introduced and they started talking about
downsizing.
2nd- They had diversity training classes.
3rd- involved them changing their health care insurance
4th- They had a birthday party
5th- They played basketball.

I hope that helps you out. I don't know which episodes you missed.

By the way, the show is set in Scranton, PA. which is where I live.
So I have been watching it every week to see if they mention anything
about the area.
