WHAT IS ON THE DVD? DISC ONE
The first disc has a Highlight Show of the first half of the season. There is also a commentary track for this episode with Dan “Nitro” Clark, Raye “Zap” Hollitt and Jim “Laser” Starr. The three do commentaries for additional episodes.
Four rounds of the preliminaries are also on this DVD. There is a commentary track for the first round.
DISC TWO
This contains Round 5 of the preliminaries, along with four rounds of the quarterfinals. Round 4 has a commentary track. DISC THREE
This disc has two rounds of the semifinals. It also contains the finals (with a commentary track) along with "The Grand Championship" .
There is one extra on Disc Three:
GLADIATOR DAYS WITH BILLY WIRTH
(9:48) - Wirth, an actor and contestant on the show, looks back on what it was like to compete.
The set also contains a very nice full color booklet with interviews and profiles of the Gladiators, talking about what they are doing today.
It also contains the finals (with a commentary track) along with "The Grand Championship".
There is one extra on Disc
Three:
GLADIATOR DAYS WITH BILLY WIRTH (9:48) - Wirth, an actor and contestant on the show, looks back on what it was like to compete.
The set also contains a very nice full color booklet with interviews and profiles of the Gladiators, talking about what they are doing today.
If that's right then this DVD set doesn't sound like it's worth the money or rental except for perhaps the commentary.

Over 50 sites and publivations have announced the movie including Variety, popcrunch, mtv news, E! and movieblog.
The film will be set inside the world created in the tv show and will present “a compelling story that launches a whole new set of characters.”
From what I remember before we filmed the first episodes the original movie idea would have been simular to "The Running Man " movie which coincidently came out in 1987 (which means it was filmed at the time the american gladiators movie idea was pitched).

Johnny Ferraro, creator of the "American Gladiators" TV game show, is bringing a live-action adaptation of the property to the big screen. The film will be specifically based on the TV show that first aired in 1988 and has been on the air ever since then. Ferraro claims that "American Gladiators" was originally conceived as a film, but the property "took a detour and became a TV phenomenon."
I am glad it was a tv show and not a cheesy movie. If it were a movie i would not have been able to work on it. The 4 year wait was good and common sense prevailed and it was a competition tv show (with first season cheese in the beginning).

It's back

May and spring brings our beloved american gladiators back to espn
classic and they start it off with eps.1 of season 1.
Woo Hoo. Season 1. Back when we were young and were happy to be
doing a tv show and getting a paycheck.

Although that has nothing to do with the topic, that is hilarious. What a moron!
And btw, the 4th of July thing is understandable, at least to me. My town is famous for NEVER having its 4th of July fireworks on the day itself!

HAHA yesterday at work. I had a customer ask me how much a book was. they pointed at the price tag saying "there are all these numbers! WHich one is the price?" I stated well.. the Our price (yeah the ticket says that in BIG letters) is 29.99.." She said "want about this 79.99 number here! " I told her "the 79.99 is the their price. See this ticket says 'theirs 79.99' 'OURS 29.99'". She then asked.. "well which one do I pay?!" In the most obnoxious voice like I was the moron... I replied very SLOWLY and trying not to cry or laugh.. "you pay the OUR price...29.99" She then yelled at me "well why didn't you just tell me that?! Fine I'll take it!" I wanted to beat her with the book...

Okay, maybe MTV will pick up the series. On another note, I loved this line from the press release: The annual "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" will take place on July 4 (9-10 p.m. ET).

Most of us have all the episodes anyways so getting bonus material would be icing on the cake
but hey. if they can't secure interviews from lace, sunny, blaze, zap, gemini, nitro, malibu or laser then put interviews on season 2 and get season 1 on the store shelves.
Don't push it back. The dvd's will spark interest again.

Freakin' finally! After all this time they decide to release SOMETHING! I'm hoping that they plan to do something for the 20th anniversary of the AG debut on Sept. 16.
I'm also hoping they do secure the interviews with the Gladiators.
I just got one that the Season 1 of the classic American Gladiators is coming to DVD. It is set to release on July 14th. As for bonus feature it will have new interview with the gladiators.
