She is married--has been forever, LOL. BTW, her given name is Mary,
but her sister couldn't pronounce it!
Her kids are early teens I'd guess. That much is available from
various old TWC pages, and that's as far as I want to take it :-)
I asked her if she had any leftover photos from TWC that she could
autograph. Unfortunately, she doesn't.
However, I gave her my address and she sent me a paper autograph. It
says
Brett,
to a TWC fan.
Best of luck always!
Warmest regards,
Marny Stanier
I now have it put away in a special place.
I have also enjoyed Marny Stanier. It is also nice to know that she is now a Real estate woman. It is nice to hear that she is a rich million dollar producer. Personally, I think it would be nice if the Jenny Pruitt & associates Realty was a Century 21 Affiliate. I like Century 21. Marny, if you are reading this, I will never forget you. I will always be a loyal fan to you. If I need to deal with Real Estate, I would love to be your Real Estate Customer. I bet you would make enough money to buy out The Weather Channel & take over Terry Connelly's job. Take care of yourself & keep in touch. You are a nice friend.

I've been looking at a TWC fan site and found a link with your email address. I've always been a loyal fan of TWC ever since I was a young child. I am now 18 years old. I had rarely watched it for a while after I got the internet (around 2000 or 2001). Though a lot of my favorite OCMs (Will Annen, Mike Bono, Bruce Edwards) had departed and you seemed only to be on the air 20% of the time. I had started watching TWC again late
last year and I was wondering where you, Terri , and Rick had ended up. But when I looked at the news archive and found out why you were fired, I really started to burst out in sweat. If Terry Connelly had done that to me, I would have a long talk with him. It is good to hear that Terri is with the radio group of TWC. I hear her often on this radio station (www.sunny1045.com). But I wish I heard your voice too. I can't stand the new OCMs that took the place of you, Rick and Terri. I seem to ponder whenever I see Weekend Outlook. I can't watch Mark since he is now anchoring with Eboni Deon and it seems she has taken the place of you forever. Once again, I wish the best for you. I wish Eboni could give the viewers ceiling fan tips but I'm afraid that is something that is experted by you!

I dunno. I guess Terry Connelly thought Stephanie Abrams and hillary Andrews are much sexier which is why he fired Marny. Stephanie & Hillary are the reason Marny got fired although Stephanie & Hillary both came to TWC before Marny got fired.

She's cute! Cuter than many of the other ladies.
I sure hope this goes through CNN, CBS News, & ABC News. Terry Connelly is trying to lure viewers away from MTV

Lois Craig, top dog in TWC's human-resources department, was "promptly terminated" after she told CEO Bill Burke she feared plans to boot prime-time anchor Marny Stanier Midkiff and another female colleague violated discrimination laws, according to the documents.
The papers — which reference a deposition given by Craig — were filed last month in Atlanta Supreme Court and mark the latest salvo from Midkiff, 43, who sparked
a storm of controversy for TWC when she sued last January over her 2003 firing.
The new papers are part of the lawsuit Midkiff, a 16-year vet of TWC, filed alleging her boss, General Manager and Vice President Terry Connelly, fired her after claiming that older on-camera staff was costing the network viewers.
Connelly openly spoke of female staffers as "matronly, dowdy and nun-like," according to the original suit. After the suit was filed, a videotape emerged that showed Connelly at a company seminar openly ridiculing the wardrobe of a Fox News anchor, saying it made her look old.
"Do you want to look old?!" Connelly shouts.
Meanwhile, the newly filed papers claim that women over 40 weren't Connelly's only target.
In 2003, Connelly told male anchor Rick Griffin, then 47, that he looked "old" and needed cosmetic surgery on his eyelids if he wanted to stay in the biz, according to the court papers, which
cite Griffin's deposition.
Griffin refused. That October, after being issued a warning to "improve his performance," Griffin was fired at Connelly's behest, the documents claim. For her part, Craig filed charges claiming she was fired in retaliation for opposing age discrimination — and landed "a very substantial settlement" from TWC, the new papers claim.
The documents also reveal that Connelly was fired from a Cincinnati TV station where "a female employee over 40 brought an age- and sex-discrimination case against the station in connection with Connelly's participation in the elimination of her position."
Connelly directed women to change their hairstyles to look "younger." A young hire, Hillary Andrews, was told to bleach her hair and eyebrows, the papers claim.
Connelly also ignored a company order to find other slots at TWC for Midkiff and others whose jobs he wanted to eliminate, the papers claim.
At the same
time, the papers say, Connelly was looking to fill those slots with talent in their 20s and 30s — including Andrews, Alexandra Steele, Sandra Diaz, Jen Carfagno and Stephanie Abrams.
TWC has declined to comment on the ongoing Midkiff suit.
An Atlanta judge is slated to hear arguments in the next few weeks.

I wish Ms Stanier, the best of luck and the hopes that she will land
another OC position at another television station. I watched Marny
since I started watching TWC in 1987, when I was only 8. and the news
of her firing really stunned me. She was one of the most professional
OCMs that worked with the station and in my opinion, letting her go
was a huge mistake. Marny, my much support goes to you. Good luck
Marny!

Don't get 'cha hopes up...I think we've see the last of La Marny on
television. Unless there's a triumphant press conference from the
courthouse stairs...!
Cheryl Lemke & Kristin Dodd seem to be close to
Marny's age range. So is former CNN Meteologists
Valerie Voss & Karen McGinnis. I do think Marny should
fight for The Weather Channel & take the presidency
spot. If she does, Marny will probably may get rid of
Stephanie Abrams, Hillary Andrews, Kelly Cass, &
Alexandra Steele.

I wanted to thank those of you who have visited my website, The Turner
Report at www.rturner229.blogspot.com to keep up with our coverage of
Marny Stanier's lawsuit against The Weather Channel. Ms. Stanier was a
favorite of mine when she began her career at KODE-TV in Joplin doing
the weekend weather.
For those of you who have enjoyed the website, I would like to put in
a plug for my just-published novel, "Small Town News" which details
what happens when the media converge on a community and on people who
are not used to dealing with them. The book is available through
www.amazon.com, www.booksamillion.com, and through the publisher at
www.iuniverse.com . A website for the book can be found at
http://rturner229.tripod.com/smalltownnews and the opening chapter can
be read at IUniverse's Small Town News page.
Thank you for your consideration.
Thanks for the update Damon.
I've been annoyed for a while with the perky young trend at the
weather channel and my concerns quickly confirmed on my first Google
search that this is a concerted effort by the management at the
Weather Channel. It was in that search that I found and joined this
forum. I watch the weather channel to get weather information and
sometimes to relax (no crime, no tragedy - most of the time, no
corruption, etc.) not to get turned on by some young hot
meteorologist. This new morning show with the 'Good Morning Ameria'
type set and format is also over the top. It's weather folks! Anyway,
I really hope that Marny takes the Weather Channel management to task.
Question Of Network's Role May Play Key Role In Discrimination Case
The Associated Press -
ATLANTA - Is The Weather Channel a business or entertainment?
That's the question U.S. Magistrate Christopher Hagy asked lawyers on
Monday during an evidentiary hearing on an age discrimination case.
The answer may help determine a lawsuit filed by former reporter
Marny Stanier Midkiff, who claims the Atlanta-based network dismissed
her in favor of younger, sexier forecasters.
Midkiff, who was 41 when she was fired in 2003, claims the network
purged older employees, particularly women. Her lawyer, Dan Klein,
introduced an October 2002 memo from Terry Connelly, a network
official, that said viewers described the network's female
broadcasters as matronly, dowdy and old.
"What does it matter?" Hagy asked during the hearing. "Are you
telling me if I'm running a motion picture studio and I need a
starlet or I need a 19-year-old, that's illegal?"
Klein argued that the network crossed the line when it fired Midkiff.
"No one's going to say you have to hire a woman to play Macbeth," he
said. "But in the business world, to impose limits on sex and age and
professions, such as reporting...."
Hagy abruptly cut him off. "Is The Weather Channel business or
entertainment?"
To Midkiff, the answer is a no-brainer.
"It's a business," she said.
For eight years, she was a manager for the network's on-air
meteorologists in a job that required her to appear on air about 20
percent of the time.
When her position was cut, she said, she was not offered an on-air
role simply because of her age.
"We're not saying the company's prohibited from making a decision
based on looking proper. Even based on whether the person's
good-looking," Klein said. "But not age."
Bill Boice, who represents The Weather Channel, would not comment at
Monday's hearing on the company's position on the question, but
argued Midkiff's firing was simply a way to free up money for future
investment. "There's no evidence of any pretext to the reduction of
force," he said.
Still, the debate over whether the network is a business or
entertainment promises to play a role in the case.
Hagy, shifting in his seat, said TV networks may fear losing ratings
points with certain casts.
"Fifty years ago," Klein replied, "Major League Baseball knew with
the same certainty that a portion of its audience wouldn't accept a
black player."
